During COVID times, as with everything else, advanced reservations were required to enter. Purchased tickets for the light show here. It is one of the top ten greatest experiences I've ever had. The animations and accompanying music was absolutely breathtaking. After the show, the house lights came on and we were able to view the basilica in its natural splendor. A site not to be missed

Amazing architecture and build centuries ago and still stands the test of time. You don’t need to b from the Christian faith to appreciate this marvel. So serene, so quite so peaceful. You enter and you can feel the presence of divine power in this building. Spend some time here in peace and do some reflection of your own. What ever you believe in, you will feel better after as you reflect and all your thoughts will slowly running around. Appreciate the architecture, the stained glass, the pews, the roof and all detailed work that has been done so long ago with the help of modern tools.

What a breathtaking experience AURA was. I had never seen something like that before — not even in the Tokyo digital arts expo. Sublime and perfectly developed. I’m not religious myself but the show has nothing to with the catholic credo. The basilica is gorgeous in its own right, but aura makes it a thousand times incredible. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Montreal

Amazing architecture! Just an hour would be enough to visit this amazing place. Every corner has its own unique design but in unity with overall aesthetic. If you like art and architecture, don’t miss this place when you’re in Montreal

It is the most beautiful church i have ever been to. The area is huge and the interior is so pretty. The statues and paintings all have history behind it. It was nice to know the our past is preserved in such an honourable way. The upper area was closed at the time. But the front alone is gigantic. You can sit there for hours and feel the serenity.

It's a very beautiful place that has an amazing architecture from the outside and the inside is even more stunning. The light show at night was an incredibly amazing experience. You can take pictures before the show starts but filming and taking pictures of the show is not allowed. You are allowed to stay inside for quite a while after the show and walk around to see the place or buy a separate site seeing ticket for a self guided tour in the morning hours. Tickets can be purchased online and you have the option of buying a combo for both siteseeing and the light show. A must see place if you're visiting Montreal.

Absolutely breathtaking basilica! At least as far as the interior is concerned. The exterior is frankly not the most captivating, it feels a bit unremarkable. As it is one of the highlights of Montreal, I could not miss stopping by the basilica, however Sunday afternoon visit might not have been the best idea thanks to the enormous amount of people around. I would recommend picking less exposed times. I would also advise purchasing the tickets (yes, this basilica charges 15 CAD to enter) online if the queue to enter is too long. There are QR codes around, which direct you to a website to buy the ticket, however the site is not the most user friendly -  there were too many steps and clicks to make the purchase. If it was already busy outside, it was even busier inside! It resembled nothing like a peaceful church. The place was crowded, loud and very difficult to move around due to the amount of tourists. Most of them were not following any sorts of rules, like trying to be quiet or being considerate to others. Hence picking the right time for a visit is essential. Once I stepped inside, though, I was blown away! The interior was absolutely stunning, and I couldn't believe my eyes. The wooden decorations were rich and intricate, but the most interesting part for me was the deep blue color used in the sanctuary and altar vaults. It was so mystical and unlike anything I've seen in a church before. The lighting at the sanctuary was on point as well, beautifully highlighting the right areas and creating a perfect atmosphere. Very unique and unforgettable. I saw information boards advertising for a visual show called AURA - something I regret not doing. It looked impressive! Despite the crowds and dimmed lighting inside, it is relatively easy to miss other parts of the basilicas such as the beautiful organs with their 7000 pipes or the exquisitely carved pulpit. Toilets are located behind the altar and despite the amount of visitors, they remained relatively clean. What surprised me a lot was the fact the basilica was air-conditioned. Not that I complain, as it was handy on a hot day, it was just a bit unusual. Tip: If you want to learn more information about this place, grab a paper pamphlet at the entrance, otherwise you can book a guider tour instead. Visited on a busy Sunday, July 2023. Paid online by card.

From the outside, it may appear they are not currently opened for visits, however there are specific time slots that visitors can purchase tickets online for the self guided tour! Beware of the times as its only available 2-3 times per day, and has limited availability (up to 250 guests per slot) to maintain capacity and traffic flow. Currently there are also the AURA performance which from the photos look amazing! Unfortunately it wasn't available for the day I went. Once inside, you can visit the amazing church at your own pace, when the time is about up, an announcement will be made to let you know time is almost up. The church is also actively opened for masses! Currently the souvenir shop is not open, and there's no tentative date as of yet! Be sure to plan ahead and get your tickets on their official website before you go for a hassle free visit!

We've visited countless churches and basilicas across North America and the UK. There is something special going on here. Enter this hallowed building and be prepared to be amazed! Stunning. Everything. Also highly recommend the Aura evening show, which will leave you breathless. God bless all of us!

Spectacular, constant 25 minute jaw drop during the Aura light show and a must when visiting beautiful Montreal. This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see such beautiful architecture and history come to life. We were so lucky to be able to witness this and only found out about the actual Aura show when visiting the Montreal tourist info.

This is a little bit of Europe right at home in Canada.. was honestly very impressed with how nice and ornate it was, definitely has the same or better grandeur than most European basilicas. The craftsmanship is incredible. Also they have quite clean and functional bathrooms which is a nice touch. There are some areas that are prayer only so photos should be avoided, and take off hats out of respect. I also lost my wallet inside somewhere.. came back and asked.. they didn't know.. so I went searching and eventually one of the people working there came running for me and they found it! I was and am so genuinely thankful and grateful. My only constructive criticisms are that for $15 per person the amount you get to see seemed limited.. it would be incredible if you could access upper levels. Also the gift shop was inexplicably closed which was sad!

Gorgeous church Beautiful architecture 😍 I only went for regular self guided tour ($15) They have Aura show during Thursday and Friday i believe. It is bit expensive but i heard it is really good. They have glass paintings about the history of French influences to Montreal (in terms of the religion) For first time visitors, This is a "must go" place in Montreal

I loved seeing this Basilica and if it was just a building I'd be ok with paying a fee to enter it but sadly they also make those who want to PRAY pay. Even to light a candle. That I don't agree with it. The building itself is in great shape. Such beauty. Hand carved everything. Gorgeous pictures. I advise you to buy your entrance tickets online in advance. There is a large line up right as the church opens but if u come later there is no line up. There was a pan handler outside yelling at patrons that they should think about where their money goes. How dare u pay to see a building and not spare change for those on the street. Etc. He scared many of the kids and a few adults as well.

Imagine walking into a room where almost everything is painted in bright colors, with gold stars and beautiful pictures everywhere. That's what it's like inside. The Aura show at Montreal's Notre Dame Basilica was a mesmerizing experience for my family. The stunning light show brought the basilica to life, captivating us all, especially my kids. It's a perfect blend of art, history, and modern technology. An unforgettable, must-see spectacle.

Second time to the Basilica for the Aura experience. Absolutely fantastic! Best sound and light show I have ever been to. Doors open 30 minutes prior to show starting but please note this includes the time to walk around the Basilica to see the illuminated stations. It was recommended that you find your seats first as it is general admission and then one person stays back to save your seats while the others look at the stations and then you switch. Washrooms are located outside the Basilica. If possible try to sit in the centre/centre of the Basilica for the best experience.

It’s an architectural marvel. Must visit when you are in Montreal. Mesmerizing views, Each corner is so uniquely designed. The lights and the colors are simply stunning 🤩 An hour would be enough to see the whole place. Almost a surreal experience.

While it’s truly magnificent from the outside, it will not be a complete experience without checking it from the inside! The interior is so stunning it will take your breath away. I wish I had the chance to see the Aura show but I will make sure to do so the next time we visit Montreal.

I recently visited the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal and was absolutely mesmerized by its beauty and grandeur. The moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a breathtaking sight of magnificent architecture and stunning stained glass windows. The intricate details and the vibrant colors created an ambiance that was truly awe-inspiring. The knowledgeable guides provided insightful information about the history and significance of the basilica, enhancing the experience even further. The peaceful atmosphere and the ethereal music added to the overall tranquility of the place. This iconic landmark is a must-visit for anyone seeking a spiritual and cultural journey. Highly recommended!

This is truly a gem in Montreal. 4 stars because they took away the guided tours so unless you have a private guide the only info will come via a brochure you pick up at the entrance. If you go, note the pillars, which are each made up of huge single logs that was then painted and connected into pillars. Truly magnificent! The monastery attached is the oldest building in Montreal according to our guide. This is an active church, so be aware that they do close for mass regularly and time your entrance so you have enough time to explore. I don't recommend the light show. Aside from breaking down to $3.30USD/minute (quite overpriced!), this building is beautiful enough to not need a Disney style show. We watched a YouTube video of the show and decided to skip it. The whole time we were there were couldn't imagine a light show doing anything but taking away from the natural beauty of the space.

If you're into older architecture, especially churches and temples, Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal is worth a visit. At $15 for adults, it's certainly not the cheapest entry, but it truly is a beautiful work of art. The details on the wood working are wonderful, and the blue hue from the gorgeous stained-glass as you enter is superb. In the back of the church, you can also visit the confirmation area, which has a gorgeous bronze wall created by a Quebec artist, as well as more beautiful wood detailing, but no pictures are allowed. I had tried to visit in 2021, but it was closed for renovations at the time. In 2022, it's back open to the public again, but Reno's are still ongoing on the outside.

It's definitely worth it. It's mesmerizing. It's truly worthwhile – a captivating experience! For an additional $15, you can ascend upstairs and sit right in front of where a pianist performs the church's music, creating a fantastic experience. This performance occurs twice daily; I attended the 1:30 pm show. The surrounding neighborhood is also a delight to explore.

It was just superb and breathtaking. It was huge and made fantastic. There is ticket entry for visitors. You can buy it online before hand to save some time. Car parking is available on the street as well as there is public parking in just opposite to this. You can do prayer. There is separate chamber as well for prayer which is not allowed for visitors. Very well maintained.

I came for the Aura Experience in the evening - it was beautiful! The lights and the music are extraordinary and it's well worth the price of entry. You get to walk around a little after the show to take photos and see a few more things up close as well. I can say that, without a doubt, this is one of the coolest buildings I have ever been in!

Super beautiful church! Buy your ticket online to completely skip the line. If you’re not interested in taking pictures, you can get in for free during one of the mass times, but again there will be a mass so you need to be extra respectful. Once inside after ticket purchase you can spend as much time as you want. Tickets are $15/person You can also use credit card to make the candle offerings inside whixh is handy

Of all the many Notre Dame churches in the French-speaking world, this is probably the most beautiful one. Definitely buy tickets online in advance so you can skip the queue. Visit early in the day to avoid crowds. However, don't worry if there are a lot of people, the basilica is very big so you can still enjoy your visit. There are also reserved areas for quiet prayer if you wish. Gorgeous place that has been very well-maintained. If you have a chance, do get tickets to see the light show at night. It is simply wonderful and the only way to experience it is to be there in person. Recording the light show is forbidden.

Excellent and fantastic architecture and art inside this iconic church. My whole family had a great visit, admiring the beauty within the walls. They told me a typical visit would be 45 minutes but we are free to stay as long as we like once we pay for the tickets. We ended up staying about 45 minutes in total. That’s about as long as you need.

Visiting the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal was an experience I'll never forget. From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the sheer beauty and grandeur of this architectural masterpiece. The interior is nothing short of breathtaking, with intricate stained glass windows, ornate woodwork, and a stunning altar that leaves you in awe. The colors, the details, and the sense of history that permeates every corner makes it truly unforgettable. The atmosphere is serene and peaceful, offering a moment of respite from the hustle and bustle of the city outside. Whether you're a history buff, an art enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates beauty, the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal is a must-visit destination. It's a testament to the skill and creativity of the artisans who built it, and a reminder of the enduring power of faith and beauty.

Beautiful, intricate interior. If you didn’t get tickets online, you can get yours at the entrance. There is a queue but not very long and it moves quite fast. Despite the crowds, it’s still very spacious. There’s live music (a choir/orchestra) on the third floor. Some spaces are prayer rooms and off limits.

Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal is a masterpiece of architecture and art! The interior of the church is one of the most dramatic in North America if not the world! The deep blue color of the vaults is probably the most eye catching parts of the entire church. The church is also decorated with a series of beautiful paintings and hundreds of wooden carvings. The stained glass windows give a religious history of the foundation of Montreal. Don't overlook the spiral stairs in the church either. Topping it off is the gigantic pipe organ in the back of the church. The building is definitely a must see however, a few things could be be changed. If you pay for a ticket you are not allowed in the second or third balcony of the church. There is a lot of great art up there that is hard to see from the floor level. Perhaps, the church could find someway to allow people access to these areas. Also, I don't know if they have guided tours but they wouldn't be a bad idea. This place is a must see if you're in Montreal!

This is a beautiful cathedral, not as big as Notre Dame in Paris though, but having the same lines, stained windows etc as you find in all the major cathedrals in France, Germany etc - a stated elegance, not enrobed in lots of details as you find in the Portuguese and some Italian or Spanish cathedrals. There was a small queue when we arrived here mid September and we had to pay the entry fee of 18 CAD (I think). All the distances in this part of the town are very small and everything is a nice walk. This area reminds me a lot of many European cities, however downtown Quebec City is more on par with the gorgeous little historic places like Venice and Seville

We’ve had the privilege of visiting many churches over the years and this one ranks among the most impressive. We managed to be there while the organist was playing…I could stay and listen all day. The music fills the space. Go back for the Aura show…stunning light and music show in the evening. Not to be missed.

Amazing, gorgeous, and historic piece of architecture that is a must-see for tourists visiting Montreal. I will say, it's a bit of a tourist trap as it was fairly expensive and not much to see as part was under construction and I'm not even entirely sure if they let you off the ground floor even when it's not being worked on. Despite this, due to the historic nature and captivating beauty, I would still recommend it, but don't expect to spend much more than a half hour unless youre paying for a guided tour or some other perk package.

The place was closed. No information about it on the website or on the entryway. As a visiting tourist on a short trip and unable to see the basilica was sad. The square otherwise is lively with musicians taking turns to play. It is connected well to the bus transit and rental bikes are available around the place. Not far from the church is the old port area and plenty of restaurants, souvenirs shop etc.

The most beautiful church I have ever seen..!!you can het a online ticket if you don’t want to stand in a long waiting line. It takes hardly 30 minutes to see entire church. Inside work is just mesmerising. Outside you may find some singers or musicians playing some background music which was amazing. We spent almost 30-40 min there. Everyone was enjoying soothing music with their families or friends. It was a really nice experience.

This basilica is one of the most intricate pieces of art that I've seen as compared to a lot of the European counterparts. The Aura light show is definitely highly recommended. I would personally suggest to book the Aura experience and rather than double booking the viewing, see it while you're in for that.

The basilica looks nice from outside but it is not a Wonder (it is not helping that there is no pedestian zone in front of it, and cars drive there all the time). However, it surely is BEAUTIFUL from inside. We did the AURA Experience, and we loved it. Beautiful light show and music. And the true bonus: no photos or videos are allowed during the performance. So no distractions by hundreds of phone screens! 👍🏻

You can buy tickets there or online, online may get you in a little faster. The Basilica is very lovely and rich with history. Unless you are religious or like the artistry or history I don't think it's worth the price to go see. I did not see the aura light show, so I cannot say how good it would be.

Had to go to the Notre-Dame as I have heard so much about how beautiful it is. The architecture and interior is in fact beautiful. I also like that they have descriptions of the paintings/statues. I went visited here twice, once for the self-guided tour and once more to see the Aura. Unfortunately, filming/taking pictures of the show was not allowed, which is understandable, but I would have liked to be able to keep a record of it (apart from my memory). Only thing that kind of surprised and disappointed me a bit, was that after the Aura, we were allowed to stay inside for quite a while, enough to walk around and tour. If I knew we would have time to walk around after the show as well, I would not really have had to go on a separate tour just for the tour. Nevertheless, I would recommend seeing the Aura if you have time, it‘s around 30 minutes including the wait.

I was sad to learn that the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal was closed during my trip due to Covid, but their website offered a paid light show called the AURA. I didn't quite know what to expect, but I bought it so I could see the interior of the church. My partner and I lined up for the show, entering it completely dark and still not knowing exactly what to expect except there were going to be lights and music being orchestrated. Holy goodness, sorry for the bad pun, but the show was spectacular. Without giving away too much, the entire delivery, music and show was beautiful executed and professionally done. It paid tribute to the beautiful architecture and spirit of the church in a very respectful manner. Having never been inside too, it was a treat to be able to see the interior pull back slowly as the light came on and to see it completely light up at the end of the show. I’m from the West coast and a friend is visiting Montreal soon, I advised her that it’s a must see. Overall, it’s a beautiful historical landmark that I was also able to experience in a fresh, innovative and extremely memorable way. 5/5 stars from me!

Good place to visit if you're in Montreal but be aware that this is a busy tourist location. There were lots of people walking around taking pictures but it's a large church. We went around closing time which allowed some peaceful time to reflect in the church. Plenty of room to sit along the pews. This is the first time visiting and I really enjoyed the art and level of artisan work here. Definitely recommend.

Since its on a must visit place in Montreal, everyone visits here. For its architecture, its indeed is superb. Do note, you have to pay $15 as an entrance fee for adults, $13.00 for students, (17-22). It definitely showcases the Christian culture and Montreal's unique architecture. But, towards the end, some of you might not feel paying $15 a worth, since its a short and quick visit to the church. However, it is a one time experience.

My first visit to the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal left an indelible mark on me. It's a place that beautifully encapsulates the history and culture of Montreal. Whether you're a history enthusiast, an architecture lover, or simply seeking a serene and spiritual experience, this basilica is a must-visit. It's a living testament to the enduring legacy of Montreal's past and an iconic representation of the city's cultural richness. I left with a deep appreciation for the artistry, faith, and history that this basilica embodies, making it a truly unforgettable experience.

MUST SEE! if you visit Montreal for the first time, then you must definitely check out this amazing piece of art in terms of architecture and beauty. If you purchase the ticket online, then you save time and can skip the long waiting line/queue. I think you should consider at least 30 minutes to explore the inside, but it can take even more than an hour if you want to sit and relax.

The Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal is a breathtaking marvel of architecture. Its intricate design and stunning details make it a truly beautiful place to visit. The grandeur of the interior, with vibrant colors and impressive stained glass windows, creates a mesmerizing atmosphere. The basilica's historical significance adds depth to the overall experience, making it a must-see destination for anyone appreciating art and history.

I was blown away by this church. Why? I think from this Basilica, I see possibilities for a thriving church who's able to change to get people to visit which is also delivering gospel in a brand new way. & this Basilica is amazing, I came twice, in the morning & at night for the light show. ❤️❤️❤️it.

I was born and raised in Montreal and this was my first time visiting the Basilica after 40+ years. It was very beautiful inside. The plaques with explanations of the windows, statues, paintings, etc helped me understand the rich history of the historical religious life of Montreal. It was absolutely amazing how there could be so much detail on everything inside the church. It was a great visit.

Crowded and expensive church but a sight to behold! We skipped the queue with online tickets (which we bought standing on the steps minutes before) as we were on a tight schedule and when we visited (Sunday) the line was incredibly long. Incredible sight and worth going to see the fine details and colour of this unique place of worship but be aware it is crowded absolutely everywhere

What can I say. It is extremely beautiful. There is an entrance fee of $15 a head but totally worth to see this masterpiece. I went on a Monday morning at 9am and there was no queue. Would recommend buying tickets in advance if visiting during holidays and weekends

An absolutely breathtaking place. I attended Aura - and cannot recommend it more. The gothic architecture mixed with ornate details and lights and music is unmatched. I am not a religious person, but cannot deny the beauty in this space. Absolutely a must not miss if you're a tourist in Montreal.

It's a wonderful Basilica and one of the most beautiful that I've seen in my life. But! Very expensive. I don't really think that there's a reason to charge for visiting a church. Anyway if you don't mind the price - very recommended.

This church is an architectural masterpiece! Whether you are religious or not, as long as you appreciate history and architecture, you will enjoy your visit. Avoid the long lines by coming on a weekday. Tickets prices are, as of August 2022): $15. Adults $12. Students 17-22 $9. Children 6-16 Group pricing also available for those groups with 10+ people at $12 each Sometimes they have musical or other special performances here and depending on your interest and tastes, could be worth it.

Breathtakingly stunning and the AURA show was totally worth the watch. They are taking precautions due to Covid and only letting limited people in, only with reservations, so that was good.

Beautiful Basilica in the heart of Vieux Montreal. It is currently under some construction and is closed to public traffic due to the pandemic - but open for parishioners. Even though we could not go inside this huge church is still breathtaking from the outside - well worth the visit!

Stunning basilica, serene, magnificent, beautiful. The architecture is amazing! recommend purchasing ticket online ahead of time. there is a Q but its pretty fast and managed well. All covid protocol are followed. Very clean and neatly maintained.

The Aura show was awesome. The lights and music were fantastic. Its a must watch for anyone living there or spending a holiday in Montreal / Old Montreal. Getting the tickets online ahead of the show is a good idea, they do walk in’s as well but totally depends on the quantity of people, try to get the middle row seats for best experience.

  • 5/5 Zoey Z. 2 years ago on Google
When to see Aura and completely blown away. I recommend be there ahead of time so you got to sit in the front and middle to have better experience. I arrive just about the start time but sitting in the back is still good enough.

The basilica is one of the top attractions to come see and I stop by every time in Montreal. For the first time, I went inside the basilica in Feb 2022 and wow is it ever cool. The cost is around $12 each. Inside the basilica there are some things to see like the pipe organ and the very unique staircase. There are postcards available inside for $0.25. A top destination for tourists

We coming from Vancouver to Montreal for spring break family trip. Bought Norte Damn Basilica Aura light show at 9pm. It was a pleasure experience. We glad that we made this trip here. It was worth the price.

Beautiful architecture and paintings. It is totally worth the ticket price to get in and just look at the ceiling, paintings, and statues. You can make offerings to light candles in cash or credit. They have several credit card poses in the middle of the church.

This basilica is stunningly beautiful. It is a great place to come and walk around, or just sit on the pews and marvel at the impressive architecture. The only downside to this attraction is the price (quite expensive for this type of place in my opinion). Also, hats are not allowed inside, a rather irksome rule.

Such a magnificent views 😍 Dedicated prayer rooms and enormous sitting space. Ticket's are well priced and no time constraints. Request by authorities, don't wear hat inside. Just be responsible and respectful. Thanks

Amazing Cathedral. Your neck will hurt looking up into the heavens. It is effuses tremendous beauty that cannot be fathomed. It is almost unbelievable that human creatures can through the work of their hands bring about such glorious art depictions of a historical figure. It teaches the story if one takes time to read the descriptions scattered about the Cathedral. There is a specific spot with the Holy Eucharist that is set apart for quiet prayer and adoration. A stunning chapel at the crypt behind the apse, with more modern artistry that is still brilliantly sacred, announces the Salve Regina (latin for Hail Holy Queen) around it. I think this is where daily masses are held. This place is where heaven meets earth.

This place is beautiful and serene. Even though there is a lot of people that tours the whole place, everyone stays quiet and pays respect. Such a mesmerizing architecture. 🤯 We wanted to try the Aura Experience but on the day visited the show starts at 6pm, we weren’t able to wait. I know for sure it would have been such an amazing light show!

The basilica's main attraction is the mesmerizing stained glass windows, which depict various religious scenes and symbols. The play of light through the colorful glass creates a magical ambiance that adds to the spiritual atmosphere of the space. The centerpiece of the basilica is the stunning altar, adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures. The richly decorated pulpit, organ, and chapels further enhance the overall beauty of the interior. The basilica's acoustics are exceptional, making it a popular venue for concerts and musical performances.

Feel a bit odd giving a review of a church but why not. Our hotel, the beautiful St. Sulpice was just a stones throw and we just had to go here. The church is absolutely beautiful and they have tours and an evening light show at 6 PM; this was amazing and awe inspiring. If you get the chance this is a must see.

If you came to mtl and didn't visit here. Then go back 😅. What a spectacular art they made. Ticket prices are 15 each. Don't wait in a Queue just go to their website and buy. It will take two minutes. Also don't go on Weekends... you will see only people and their photography skills. Wheel chair accessible. Don't forget to light the candles.🫰

It's one of the ancient churches present in Canada. Architecture of the church is well preserved, the wall colours inside the church offer a vibrant look. Tickets are not that pricey and the family ticket can be purchased at a discount. You can sit inside the church at the benches provided. Purchase tickets in advance to skip the ticket lines during holiday and weekends.

This Basilica is breathtaking. I go to see these places for their religious value, and am blessed with the "beauty beyond compare" experience. The architectural and historical value are phenomenal. I chose not to buy the guided tour, but it is worth it if you want a thorough visit of information. Many celebrities have used this church for weddings and funerals. Don't pass it up, if you get a chance to visit.

This is the best place to visit in Montreal. I like the magnificent architecture of the place. This place is so peaceful and magical. Tickets are are pricey even though it is Canadian dollars 🤓 Best time to visit is either early in morning or close to 4 pm.

Such a beautiful place. A must visit when you are in Montreal. It looks so fabulous from inside. Short history and details just makes it more interesting to read about the importance of the place. They have a musical instrument up on the first floor, visible from anywhere inside the Basilica, with a history written down on the board. It’s a must read.

Went here while on vacation In Montreal and it is definitely a tourist attraction. I bought tickets in advance so entering was no hassle and I was able to go in immediately. The interior was very eye catching and I have to say this place is very photogenic. The lights are extremely pretty and there are tons of interesting statues. If you are in Montreal definitely give it a visit. I didn’t have a chance to go during the aura event but it does look very interesting. If you have the chance I would definitely recommend to get tickets for aura too.

Of course this is amazing to see, but they were not allowing anyone inside (for pandemic reasons I'm assuming). Although we understood it was still disappointing not to be able to go inside at all. Still beautiful! Wished they did the light show at night when we were there (Sept '21) but that was also not running.

It's a beautiful place to visit once you come to Montreal The best time to visit this place if you don't want to see too much tourists is around March and April. You will have an almost empty hall to take photos by yourself Just a heads up, it will cost $15 CAD to get inside the Basilica. And you can skip the line if you unreserve your ticket online

Incredibly wonderful place to visit! It is totally worth it! The exterior did not look so welcoming as it was under construction. But the interior was breathtaking! The entry ticket to the church is $15 per adult. You can take a tour of the church and take pictures. If you are looking for some peace then this is not the right place, as it is very crowded and people are always around taking pictures and videos. One of the best churches I have ever visited.

A true marvel, Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal is an architectural masterpiece that leaves you speechless. The intricate stained glass windows create a kaleidoscope of colors, and the ornate details tell tales of history. Whether you're a history enthusiast or just seeking beauty, this place has it all. Don't miss the mesmerizing lightning show from 6 to 8 PM, adding a magical touch to the already enchanting ambiance. Crowds can be intense, so consider visiting during off-peak hours. For a small fee, you'll witness a breathtaking fusion of art, history, and spirituality. A must-see that easily earns five stars!

It is great. Worthy to visit. The ticket price was 15$ for adults and would be less for children and also students (maximum 22 years old). Getting in is easy and fast. I guess 1-2 hours is enough to explore and discover inside the church. Around it, there are some souvenirs stores.

One of the most gorgeous churches in North America, it's a treat to visit the basilica as is. Ornate interiors, immaculate maintenance, rich history (200+ year old) and top location (just opposite Place D'armes). Managed to see the show 'Aura' which was a spectacle, ticket prices on the higher side but still recommended for a one time watch. Don't miss this if you are in Montreal!

  • 5/5 André M. 7 months ago on Google
Beautiful basilica, well worth a visit (we had to try 3 times because on one day there was a wedding going on and on the second day there was mass service, so no tourists allowed). It's not free, we payed 15 CAD per person but it's worth it. It's beautiful inside and apparently they do some light shows at 6pm and 8pm? Not sure about that, but we had some people in our group from an excursion talking about that. Highly recommended and go there if you see it's open to the public 👍

This is in the heart of old Montreal, will take an hour or two of your time touring this basilica. It's relatively smaller compared to others in Europe, will still see detailed work on the interior including stained glass painting. Better to buy tickets online to skip any line at the venue. Worth ur time if u are in the area.
