They have vegetables, fruits, pies, souvenirs (maple syrup, maple butter, …) There are cafés and ice cream/sorbet stores, as well as seafood stalls. You can also buy beauty products, outfits and accessories. The atmosphere in the market was also very nice. Prices are very reasonable. Vendors are also quite nice, they would take the time to actually explain to you what the differences of their products are and how they were made. We bought ice cream (the guy was very generous with that one scoop of ice cream) and maple syrup.

What a beautiful market. It has something for everyone and I find it BOOMING every day and every season, regardless of how terrible the weather is outside. It's filled with everything fresh, beautiful and unique at times. Definitely love going there whenever I can. Best place for gardening season preparation and we find the quality plants.

A fantastic local market with great produce and lot of variety. A fun place to hang around for couple of hours to see the local vegetables and meat. Also a great place to shop for souvenirs. I liked the variety of lavender flowers and oils. Easily accessible by train.

I finally decided to visit this famous Jean Talon Market. Sadly I was underwhelmed mainly because it was extremely busy. Naturally I knew going in it would be mayhem because it was a Saturday after all. I really don’t have anything bad to say about it, because it did have lots of vendors with great produce, and other little shops with various things. There were a few eateries as well that were bursting at the seams. Maybe if I go on a non-busy day I might appreciate it more. 😎👍

The best grilled corn you'll ever have is located at this market at #152. It was so good we had to go back the next day for more. Get it Mexican style and buy some to go! The market itself has amazing produce, we went during berry season and also got some delicious strawberries. When in Montreal this is a must!

Now THIS is a real market! Lots of fresh and local cheese and produce! Squeaky cheese, purple cauliflower, giant sunflowers, they seem to have it all! Underground Parking is only $2.50 for an hour, just bring your ticket with you since the payment station is near the stairs/elevators. FYI this is the FRENCH market, the more English one is the Atwater Market.

This market is very nice. I love that is has a parking garage. If you are coming from another country please make sure to bring your own bag. We tried the tacos and they were delicious! I tried the corn dogs and I must say the presentation is pretty. They are good and would recommend them. Perfect place to buy fruits and vegetables.

Covered open air market with a variety of fresh and local foods. A nice and friendly place for a stroll to stock up on local produce, cheeses, cured meats and also grab some great bites of fresh oysters, crêpes, coffee and even interestingly seasoned roasted nuts. We went on a hot summer day but had a nice break from the sun here as it was covered and they have fans going. You also get to sample super fresh fruit. Nice time for the family.

I love this place! We had 12 oysters for lunch 6 varieties! All awesome! The oyster guy has a great character and really knows his stuff. Then we had a fantastic coffee with a pistachio Greek baclava type pastry from the place nearby. We bought a variety of treats for dinners this week and it was lots of fun.

Large and spacious market in North Montreal. It is clean. Didn't see a washroom, but am sure there is one. Competitive prices with fresh produce, meats, seafood, maple syrup. There are also some coffee, spices, sweets, cheese, and fruit stalls (many apples, apple cider). Some vendors sold honey from other vendors. Everyone was very kind and helpful. During December, there are Christmas trees being sold outside the market. Support local!!

What an incredible market, love the variety of great fresh produce and how environmentally conscious they are. Also love the fact that there was a store to fill your own single time use plastic detergents, soaps, dental and body care products. Amazing!! Market even had a recycling compactor at one corner, simply BRILLIANT!!

Visiting from out of town, this market was a great sightseeing spot. Full of variety and innovative food items, the market is just bustling with activity. It makes you wanna be a local. We had a good hour long stroll inside and the peripheral areas, snacking on small bites of food from each stall. Prices are reasonable for the freshness and quality delivered.

Nice place to visit with garage parking for the Montreal always very hot summer days. Organic vegetable an fruits, baskets of berries, bakeries, and many stores selling delicious pies, soups, juices, crepes, and other food items. I am giving fours stars because of the lines and wait time in some busy kiosks, but nothing major. I recommend a visit for sure.

I visited on 3/22/23. Amazing and wonderful market full of fresh produce, meats, flowers, honey, maple syrup, patisserie items. I loved it. I would love to come back and see it in the Summer when numerous more vendors will be outside too. None outside when I visited due to the cold weather. I did get a mini maple pie - it was to die for!!!! Please don’t miss it. This market is definitely a must do when in Montreal. If I lived there I would probably go every day!

Great outdoor market with both fruit and veggie stands as well as nursery , flower shoppes, bakeroes, maple product stands, juice stands and restaurants all around main market. Fruit and vegetables are very fresh and reasonably priced. Definitely worth checking out for a couple hours when in town.

We love exploring markets while visiting cities, and Jean Talon was a great hour of exploration. The stands of fruits and vegetables are artfully displayed. One stand sold ears of corn straight from the truck — they shucked it and steamed it right in front of you for a dollar or two. We also enjoyed Mac n Cheese and fresh oysters. A fun place to grab snacks or lunch.

Great local market. Lots of fresh produce. Good seafood and meat selection. Food court is amazing with many local options. Plan on spending 2-3 hours here if you want to get food as well. Parking is tight.

This is my favourite market in Montreal. There are endless options for fresh produce, fresh seafood, fruits, vegetables and tons of local cheeses. There are also many excellent restaurants & cafes near by. It’s a great way to spend a morning or afternoon! If your visiting the area, I’d recommend trying El Rey Del Taco.. located right within Jean Talon Market. There Mexican food is SO delicious and authentic!

I’m glad I got to see this place! We brought a bag because of the other reviews but ended up not needing it. We found a decent coffee bar, some maple syrup, and a lobster roll for ~$18. There is so much to see at this market and you could easily spend a whole afternoon here.

Great farmer’s market with a number of vendors selling their produce. If you live close by then it is a great spot to buy your organics from. About 10 min walk for the jean-talon metro. Fun vibes and music always popping. Amazing selection of flowers, veggies and fruits. Cool houseplants as-well.

The way the vendors organize their stalls is art! So beautiful. I am not sure whether it's because it was a Monday or maybe because it was raining but a lot of the market stalls were empty/closed today. I feel like I missed out on a lot of other vendors just not sure why they weren't there. Mostly fruits and veggies with only a few meat places and prepared food stalls if you went there today.

From old Montreal hop on the subway, get a token and head westbound! Its fast, easy to find, and a fun experience! Incredible produce!!! Wish we had this in the States. Stop in a cafe on the edge of the Market. Very European. Really enjoyed doing something new on my many visits to Montreal.

Big market and has pretty much everything needed. Fresh fruits and vegetables. Meat. Fish. Flowers and so on. Prices are fairly reasonable as most of the things come from farm directly. However impossible to find parking. A lot of people inside! Food and snacks are very expensive! Wanted to buy tacos and it costs 10$ for 2 small tacos. Not worth it. Overall great location to visit as a tourist or to buy fresh fruits and veggies.

Good place to visit. We got a crepe which was great and also got some maple syrup and maple butter. We tried two different dessert places, and they were okay, not amazing. 85% of the products were fresh vegetables, fruits, and flowers, so there were not many items to buy for a tourist as I cannot bring them to the plane.

Best public market on this side of the country. You can find fresh produce, artisanal bread, premium quality cold cuts, amazing seafood and everything in between. If you care about what you put in your body, this is the place to buy your fruits and vegetables from April to October. A portion of the market remains open during the colder months for those who live close by.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Such a great experience. They have it all from fruits, veggies, cheeses, meats, pastas and bread. What more do you need? It was a little overwhelming as someone who does not speak French fluently, but everyone was very kind and helpful. We really enjoyed our time exploring the market.

  • 4/5 Kyle G. 1 year ago on Google
Expansive covered outdoor market with a variety of produce sellers and meat providers. There is also a variety of food and drink stands that you can grab a snack at as you browse the market. There are some standalone cafes ringing the market as well. Very accessible public bathrooms. Very close to Little Italy.

One of the biggest farmers markets in North America. Such a great place to walk around and see the shops. They have many vendors where you can get great food, pastries, and dessert. They way they set up the market is very organized. Came back here twice just to try different vendors.

It's a great market with lots of goods to choose from. Fresh produce and baked goods. Incredible seafood and eateries. We got there early, around 10. By the time we ate and made our way through picking up goodies along the way. The market was very full.

It has an interesting and beautiful environment and a variety of products. But the prices are relatively high. We bought two sweets from a small sweet shop inside the market, which had excellent packaging and the quality of both sweets was good.

Year round open air market offering produce and other Quebec-grown items. Indoor underground paid parking, as well as parking on side streets surrounding the market. Lots of choices for locals, as well as tourists. Several options for dining, including a specialty Greek bakery. Worth a visit.

An incredibly vibrant market. We arrived on a Sunday in mid September at about 11 and the place was jammed full of people. And it's no wonder why! Every single vendor, whether they specialized in Garlic, eggplant, tomatoes, or virtually any other kind of vegetable had what appeared to be almost an overabundance of beautiful fruits and vegetables and more! Clearly, Chefs around the world would love to have a "Jean Talon Market" in their city or town. Amazing!!!

I would say it’s a very cute local market that I don’t feel it touristy. I bought the maple cone and Portuguese egg tart here. Also there’s an amazing French bakery in the market, which is a unforgettable spot! Definitely recommend this place. The commute from downtown is worthwhile.

Great farmers market. As a tourist not a lot for us to do here because we'd have no place to put anything. Wish we had come here earlier and stocked up our groceries here instead. Prices were moderate. Very busy place.

A great place to get fresh produce and specialty goods! The prices weren't unreasonable, and I definitely see myself going here to shop. Unfortunately, it is far from central downtown, so it is always a trek to get there.

Indoor market in the winter, with many vendors; fruits, veggies, meats and cheeses. A few restaurants and cafes, fun place to stroll around and pick up dinner. We spent a couple of hours and enjoyed the local neighborhood as well.

This market is great all year round, but early fall is particularly magical with its baskets of veggies, braids of garlic, and strings of drying chilies. Sit and enjoy the live music and the ambiance. The shops surrounding the market can supply you with just about everything you need to make an authentic ethnic or specialty dish as well.

Jean Talon is a gem. I wish I was living next to it. I could just go there get fresh food from farm and support local. I went there late afternoon, so everything was closed, still few vendors left! Still fresh and lovely. Reasonable prices. Def visiting next time in the morning!!

Jean Talon is a great place to not only buy fresh fruits and vegetables but also plants, dairy, spices and grab a bite. It's a brilliant place with everything easy accessible and a way to support the local farmers. Prices are reasonable too. The market is close to the Jean Talon metro station if you're using public transport. Definitely recommend going here for your supply of fresh produce and supporting local farmers. Fresh, local produce, flowers, lots of apples and potatoes (December). Many vendors of vegan items, including juices, mushrooms, nuts, organic produce and chilled/packaged items. Small bookshop on site too. Some vendors don’t speak English.

This market was overflowing with different fruit and vegetables, full to the brim with fascinating colours, bright orange mini pumpkins, and multicoloured corn...it had my eyes moving in every direction. The prices were awesome, and the people were super nice. I would recommend anyone visiting Montreal to attend and absorb the atmosphere 😊

A really large farmer’s market, with so many vendors selling some of the freshest produce, meats, baked foods, cheese, flowers etc. Lot of good places to snack your way through, or get a full fledged meal. It is better to go earlier in the day, as most vendors will run out of the good stuff. They have washrooms and ATMs, as some stores may be cash only. Most places I visited accepted mobile/no touch payment. It’s only 0.5 miles from the Jean Talon Metro station, they also have parking right below the market.

Such a lot of fun checking out the stalls of beautifully displayed fruit and veg, tempting meat products and cheeses. We picked up delicious maple treats, pastries, middle eastern cookware and interesting spices. Afterwards we enjoyed an authentic Mexican meal at the place across the street. Wonderful way to spend a few hours in Montreal.

This outdoors market has stores as well as many outdoors stools offering fish, meat, specialy foods, fruits, vegetables flowers plants and some cafe and bread stores. Best to come here on weekends and avoid the market on Mondays and Tuesdays when many vendors are not there.

So nice to be back at the market again after a long winter! Also quite a few new and different shop along the way. Missing that mushroom store, maybe too early in the season. Where are all our cranberry stuff. My classics are still there, tasted many local cheeses, and of course Privilége chocolate is a perfect end of a culinary visit at the market.

It's huge and had lots of fresh vegetables, fruits and other products. We didn't buy anything, though, was we were on a tour, but if we lived here or if we had rented an Airbnb, we would have certainly made a lot of grocery shopping here, everything looked amazing! And the prices seemed correct 👍

  • 5/5 Cristine M. 1 year ago on Google
Loved exploring this market, such a big range of produce to choose from! They also had a cider/wine tasting on for the first time that was mostly free which is a terrific idea. Could spend hours here!

  • 4/5 Mitchell S. 8 months ago on Google
This market is really beautiful - I tried a small cone with maple syrup in it and a pets à sœur (the first place in the province where I was able to find one!). I liked how the prices for things seemed on par or even cheaper than grocery stores, compared to other markets I tend to go to. The only things I think could use some improvement is for there to be more places to buy actual meals to eat on the spot/snacks other than super sweet things (although I recognize that restaurants surround the market). There were also a bunch of empty areas where it looked like there were supposed to be people selling stuff but there weren't. There were definitely a lot of fruits and vegetables for sale!

  • 5/5 Generic S. 8 months ago on Google
This place is huge! There are so Lamy local vendors, and they offer everything from fruits, veggies to herbs, and maple syrup. I would recommend taking cash with you, and if you plan on buying potted herbs, have a carrier so that you have somewhere to put it as you walk around. There are some tiny restaurant shops as well that offer beverages and food. The area has unlimited options in terms of cuisine, so you really can't go wrong.

  • 5/5 Lisa P. 1 year ago on Google

Jean-Talon Market is the largest open-air public market in Montreal. It has a great authentic atmosphere and offers a wide range of fresh, local produce. What I like most about the market are it’s local farmers from Quebec that are passionate about their business and are always eager to tell you about their produce and even suggest the best ways to consume it. In the market, you can find a variety of fruits, vegetables, flowers, spices, oils, cheeses, meats, pastries and other products. There are also a number of coffee shops, bakeries, and restaurants. I highly recommend this market to locals and tourists.

It is a haven for food lovers and those seeking the freshest ingredients. The market offers an incredible selection of locally sourced fruits and vegetables, ensuring that you can find the finest and most flavorful produce available.
