Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral - The church shows the golden era of 19th-century of famous St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. The color tone decoration and the interior design are a replica of the St. Peter's Basilica. You will appreciate the architecture of how the engineers/architect incorporated the material and design into this amazing catheral. There is no admission fee. You should definitely visit the Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral when you are in Montreal.

Beautiful church nestled amidst modern skyscrapers in the heart of Montreal! It is bigger than expected, honestly the size is humongous, especially when standing inside the main nave - after all this is a (tad smaller) replica of Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome. I found a lot of appreciation for the interior design and decoration - the colors are a bit muted and definitely not as extravagant as Basilica Notre-Dame, but very impressive nevertheless. The bishop's mortuary chapel was my favourite part - beautifully decorated, however not publicly accessible (the doors to the chapel are locked). Entry to the church is free, but small donations are recommended. It's not allowed to take pictures during the masses, but I believe if you are subtle enough, you may snap one or two. A little gift store with religious items is handy as well. The church has multiple entrances/exits, but entering from the front is the most spectacular as you get to see the statues of patrons atop the main entrance, which creates a stunning first impression. I only wish the large cupola was open to the public, as I imagine the views from the top would be breathtaking! The best way to reach the Church is by Metro as the Bonaventure station is on the same block. It's also wheelchair accessible, making it convenient for all visitors. Visited on a Sunday, July 2023.

Beautiful cathedral at a very central and convenient location, that is right next to the Central Station. The statues of the apostles and the top of the cathedral are magnificent. The central altar in the cathedral reminds me of some of the grand churches in Spain.

The cathedral is really very impressive . It has several naves. The security reminded my to not take photos or walk around during the worship service. He was outstanding, friendly. It is not packed, but worth a visit. I recommend a visit if you are in Montreal. The entrance is free, but I they prepared to take a donation for those in need. I really enjoyed my visit - thanks a lot

March 08, 2023 CATHEDRAL - BASILICA Mary Queen of the World and St. James the Greater Mary Queen of the World Cathedral is located in the heart of downtown Montreal, right across from the Dorchester Square. It is also close to the Metro station Bonaventure, orange line. This Cathedral is ABSOLUTELY Stunning! A Masterpiece! I was walking around and I noticed this huge, beautiful Cathedral. I entered its vast doors and was welcomed by the most friendliest staff. As soon I entered the Cathedral, I was in Awe. Mesmerized by the beauty. This is the most amazing and peaceful, place I have had the blessing to visit. The interior is extremely impressive. I couldn't stop taking pictures of every inch. I actually took over 200 photos, but I could only share some of them. I have also shared photos of the Pamphlet provided by the Staff, explaining the History and details about every inch of this Cathedral inside and the outside. LOVE the architecture and Immaculate details that are put into this stunning Cathedral. The aisle walls are decorated with beautiful large paintings depicting the early events in the founding of the City. The Cupola will take your breath away. The altar is so elegant. Amazing Acoustics. Just Exquisite! I honestly felt the presence of the greater power. It is a great place to pray and just sit there in peace and meditate. We visit Montreal once a year for the past several years and I can't believe I didn't know this Cathedral existed. When in Montreal, this a must visit Cathedral. Unlike some of the other places/Cathedrals/Basilicas, there is no admission fee to enter this Cathedral. 🙏

I visited the Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral on a sunny afternoon and I was amazed by its beauty and history. The cathedral is a scaled-down replica of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, with a stunning dome and a richly decorated interior. The paintings, sculptures and stained glass windows depict scenes from the lives of the saints and the history of Montreal. The cathedral also has a museum that showcases various religious artifacts and artworks. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the admission was free. I highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates art, architecture and culture.

My first ever Cathedral that I have ever been too, wow what a fantastic sight. I wouldn’t believe how amazing it looked from the outside but it’s so beautiful inside. I visited Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral in January 2019 and it was amazing, the architecture was lovely, it was nice and relaxing being here, would highly recommend people coming here for something enjoyable and free to do.

The Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral is absolutely stunning! The facade is beautiful on the outside but wait until you get inside. I was mesmerized by the beauty of the Cathedral. The statues, the interior and the sacredness of the place were just a few to enjoy during the visit. Looking up top on the ceiling shows the beauty of the place. Also to mention, the staff were tremendous during our visit!

Very beautiful and breath taking, but also a place for prayer and meditation. I like the fact that it's open to the public and you can donate if you want, not as an obligation which is what should happen in every church or religious place for worshiping. The architecture is amazing and is very spacious. It's in the heart of the architectural tour of Montreal.

Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral is an immaculate church in the heart of downtown Montréal, across from Dorchester Square. It has resemblance to St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican as its inspiration when built in 1894. Even at quarter-scale of St. Peter’s, this is an impressive sight & still among the largest in Quebec. Outside is adorned with religious figure statues along the rooftop. Inside above grand pillars, renaissance-style ceilings are painted brightly. Underneath the central dome is a splendid altar with twisted columns based on St. Peter’s. The aisle walls are decorated with large paintings depicting early events in the founding of the city. Admission into this cathedral is free till 7pm daily, except during religious services. It is yet another cathedral worth visiting in Montréal further to Notre Dame & Saint Joseph’s Oratory, especially when strolling downtown.

It's Amazing, it's an almost exact replica of the St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. The architecture is just amazing and you can feel the history in the place, there's security and a nice souvenir shop with.

The Cathedral is a beautiful church. There is so much to see. The statues, architecture, history etc but most of all its a good church to drop in anytime during the day to pray because its open from about 7:30 am till around 6pm. Not sure about closing time exactly but I do know there is an evening mass at 5pm daily as well as 7:30am and at 12:10. The masses are in French. Confession is available prior to mass. The Cathedral is wheel chair accesible and there is parking. You can get there via metro bonaventure and follow signs. Saturdays there is a 7:30am mass and a 12:10 mass. Sundays there are masses at 8, 9:30,11, 12:15 and 5. The staff is so so. I do not mean the priests but the workers. There is one very nice security guard but theres also one thats not as friendly.

This was such a beautiful church. The staff were super nice and the priest even blessed the bracelet I bought from their shop. If I lived near by I would definitely visit more often. It is a super welcoming place and I would 10/10 recommend to visit if you come to Montreal.

Beautiful cathedral in downtown Montréal. It's huge!!!. Highly recommended to go in and see how beautiful it is inside. It is also very worthwhile to walk and see it in its surroundings since being very large you can take photos at different angles.

Nice church in Montreal. The status, the inside, next to 2 touristic parks and next to the train station. No washroom nearby except at the touristic office. Worth the visit!

One of the biggest cathedrals in Canada, really worth a visit if you’re in town for the first time or even if you’re a local and have never stepped inside. Entrance is free, it’s a beauty of colossal magnitude.

I love the architecture and immaculate details put into cathedrals overall, but this ranks up with the top of them. You could wander and stare at everything for 2 hours and still not fully grasp the beauty of the craftsmanship.

I recently began working across the street at the CIBC building and in the early evening after work i pass this historic, breathtaking church. The sound of church bells create a beautiful , surreal atmosphere in the heart of the city especially during the Christmas season. It makes me stop and appreciate life. I feel like i am in a classic Christmas movie. I hope the church continues with this tradition. I am not a practicing catholic but i would like to attend a service. Build it and they will come!

of all the cathedrals/churches in town, this one hit me different. there is a weight to the room, i can't explain it. humans don't make things like this anymore, please go in and soak it in, regardless of your religious preferences. it is an architectural/design marvel.

Gorgeous cathedral that is open to the public. A scaled down version of St Peters basilica in the vatican, it’s beautiful inside and out and a nice place to sit and take it all in. Its also open for prayer and meditation and has a shop on the side. The person at the front when you enter was very kind and explained you could go in- no flash photography is allowed however.

The first time that you'll walk in front of Mary Queen of the World Cathedral, you'll get a vague feeling of déjà vu. The reason will seem too obvious when you remember why. This cathedral was conceived to be a smaller scale version of Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome. The cathedral was built and consecrated in the latter part of the nineteenth century and is on the Canadian Register of Historical Places.

We arrived when there was a mass in progress. We were politely asked to enter from the sides and wait until the mass is over. It qas a great experience overall. The organ, the atmosphere, the paintings, and sheer magnitude and artistry of what we were seeing struck us the most. Would definitely visit again.

Do not miss out on going here, absolutely stunning. Has a recreational of the Baldachin from St Peter's Basilica in Vatican City. If going to Europe is something you want to do but don't have the money, you only need to go here. And it is absolutely free. Every time I come back to Montreal I will 100% come back here.

Such a beautiful church. Literally feels like you’re walking into a museum full of meaningful artifacts. Very convenient that it is a 2 min walk from the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth hotel. I would love to experience a full mass service at this church!

Big and beautiful church! I would recommend visiting. Will the quiet relaxing stillness that comes with all churches, I like reflecting on Mary Queen of the world as a cosmopolitan place like Canada has so much humanity, togetherness and joy. Very beautiful. Also, check out the gift shop on the right, got some unique souvenirs.

Such an awesome place of worship. Entering its vast doors lead you into a wonderful place of reverence and history. During the pandemic the doors are still open for daily visits and prayers. Pew seating is clearly marked for social distancing. Need for vaccine passport now lifted which makes the overall experience even better.
