In Montreal's embrace, as day turns to night, The Clock Tower stands tall in soft twilight's light. A replica of Big Ben, majestic and grand, A symbol of honor on this distant land. To sailors lost at sea in the Great War's fray, This tower was built, their memory to convey. Its chimes, like a heartbeat, a tribute they share, With each resounding note, a solemn prayer. As the sun bids adieu with its fiery embrace, The Clock Tower stands still, a timekeeping grace. In its shadow, we pause, remember, and sigh, For those brave souls lost beneath the vast sky. A sentinel of time, against the evening's hue, The Montreal Clock Tower, steadfast and true. A tribute to heroes, their sacrifice we revere, As the sunsets on this replica so dear.

A strategically build clock tower with cannons (early 1900), offering wonderful view over the St Lawrence river and many bridges.

  • 3/5 Ali B. 9 months ago on Google
Yeah the beach is pretty decent for suntanning albeit I was told I could climb the hundred and something steps up the tower and enjoy the view but all the doors were closed when I got there and apparently that was not the case. Solid beach 5/7.

This historical clock stands out at the port and next to a beach (for sunbathing and not swimming). There's a stair climb to get to the top and the stairwell is quite narrow to the extent that it can only really handle one way traffic so there can be waiting and backing out where people are coming in the opposite direction. Almost as equally confined is the top which is fine with a small group of people but uncomfortable when busy. Once you reach the top, the views make the journey worth it with views of the St Lawrence River and looking back at the city.

The location is amazing and everything is beautiful, plenty of places to sit and enjoy the scenery. It does seem a bit abandoned, some trash around and just overall dirty. Still worth visiting.

Face the northwest, you can get cityscape of the old port, and to the southeast you can take pictures of the Jacques Cartier Bridge. This is a must-go spot for landscape photographer.

This is a replica of the Big Ben in London and was built between 1919-1922 to memorialize sailors lost at sea. I would’ve loved to go up the 192 steps for the view but it was closed, no info anywhere about it. It’s a great spot on a sunny day!

Both a striking landmark in Montreal's Old Port and, if you stroll on over to the backside of the tower, a tribute to Canadian sailors involved in the World Wars. Accessible from the paths winding their way along the waterfront, the clock tower is a worthwhile visit for anyone exploring the Old Port on foot and offers fantastic views of the city and the Saint-Lawrence in all seasons. The area is also a runner's paradise, with the tower serving as a great halfway marker.

Great for a morning run, especially on a day like this. No wind, blue skies and amazing view of the Jacques Cartier bridge. Cyclists are very respectful, and there is a good understanding of joggers, people going for a walk or cyclist. Enjoyable for all of the above mentioned

After Covid-19 lockdown: Hard to distance in very small bathrooms while inconsiderate people are changing and putting on makeup. One day disabled bathroom was open, another day it was closed. The big beach chairs and tables are gone so people with semi mobility issues may find enjoying beach more difficult. Actual clock tower is closed. The view from the beach is still great and staff are friendly and seem to disenfect the outdoor shower space frequently. The little food and drink stand is very good and staff are friendly and courteous. Before Covid-19 lockdown: The climb is not that hard but it is really chaotic when you get to the top and some people give you no space at all on your climb back down. The climb is worth it though. After surviving your climb, going to the clock beach on a hot sunny day might be more fun. Entrance to beach is free though your bag gets checked for glass bottles and alcohol. Most people you interact with seem to be functionally bilingual.

Nice spot to sit around and relax. There's a ton of seagulls, pigeons, and geese everywhere. Plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the water view. There's also a playground. A bit trashy but otherwise nice to walk around.

Beautiful views of the city and surrounding area. It was a wonderful walk to get to the clock tower. I visited in early May so it wasn't crowded at all which was very enjoyable. I can tell that this is the place to be in the summer as there are lots of places to check out.

Great area to look at, but the clock tower itself has been closed off for the past 3 years for some reason?? And the artificial beach is never opened either… too bad since it has the potential to be one of the coolest restaurant/bar area in old port…

It was nice to be in Old Montreal after more than a year. Everything was fine except the miling crowds. About 80% of the people we're wearing masks which is worrisome. I wish that people were more responsible.

My suggestion for a great time in Old Montreal and Downtown is to start here at the Clock Tower. Pay the 25 dollar parking along the Harbour to keep your car parked all day in a central location. You get to see the water and beautiful city skyline first thing and with a quick climb of the clock tower you get an incredible first view of the everything aswell.

The clock tower sits at the far north end of the old port. I fully enjoyed the strolling through the entire Montreal old port,. The view on one side is the river and other is the old town of the city. Great city walk of a couple of hours if you have while in town.

Payed a small fee to watch the fireworks on the beach. They need to add more seating for these events. It was the first time I had visited that beach, it is well kept with public washroom available. The view is beautiful.

(Translated by Google) The place is spectacular because it marks the entrance to the old grain port of the city. Unfortunately, tour closed when I went there. It faces the terrible flow of the Saint Lawrence which carries packets of ice in winter at a speed approaching 15 km / h. The clock at the top is from England. This tower was erected in 1922 in memory of the sailors who died during WW1. 45 meters high, it is listed as a Canadian heritage.

Love this part of the city. It is very beautiful and here many people enjoying their day. There is free WiFi along the port so you can stay connected. You can also rent a bike and go for a bike ride. There are attractions down here like zip lining and the Ferris wheel. You can also grab a snack or lunch from one of the few food trucks. A good place to spend the afternoon strolling and taking in all the beautiful views.

This clock tower is in the Old Port area in Montreal. The stairs to go up were closed when we visited but it was a nice stroll up to tower along the park and the river. There is a small beach nearby to relax and sunbathe as well. The view of the river was amazing from the base and I imagine it would be even better from the top of the tower.

  • 5/5 Felix K. 5 years ago on Google
By far the most beautiful lookout throughout the Old Port of Montreal. Beautiful view over the whole port and many nice buildings as well as the huge river. 192 steps, which are unfortunately not very wide. The top of the platform also does not offer much space. However you must climb the 192 to have such a beautiful view.

(Translated by Google) Then you get to the clock tower with beach club. A narrow strip of sand with umbrellas over the St. Lorenz, quite nice. But with the strong current there I would not like to bathe, or it is impossible. The Clock Tower was built as a memorial to the dead seafarers of the First World War. The "old port" disappeared, the tower remained.
