Nice walk, no difficult to reach. I’ve been there during winter and autumn seasons and both are beautiful. The cross is basically the summit of the walk.

Don’t let your husband trick you into walking to Mount Royal then hiking through the woods. You can absolutely take an Uber and get dropped off! 😂 The hike is beautiful if one was dressed appropriately for it and brought water. The over look was beautiful and bathrooms along with a cafe is also available. The cross is a little further from the overlook but I was like what the heck my blowout is ruined and my makeup was already sliding down my face…what’s a little further going to hurt. It was great glad we did it.

Very difficult to reach during or right after a snowstorm. But once you get there...what a view!

Mount Royal Cross: Journeying through the labyrinth of pathways that traverse Mount Royal Park unveils a splendid revelation at its pinnacle—the iconic Mount Royal Cross. This towering structure, an epitome of grace and grandeur, offers more than just a vantage point—it provides refuge from the sun's embrace on a scorching summer day. The cross's expansive dimensions grant solace beneath its shade, allowing visitors to linger and absorb the breathtaking panorama that unfolds. Beyond its physical presence, the Mount Royal Cross is a sanctuary of contemplation. Amidst the rustling leaves and the chorus of nature, one can't help but be drawn into a state of serenity, where thoughts intertwine with the whispering winds and the rustling of leaves. As daylight wanes and the skies are painted in the hues of twilight, the cross undergoes a transformation. Illuminated against the canvas of night, its silhouette stands as a beacon that reaches far beyond its perch. This radiant display serves as both a landmark and an inspiration, a tangible reminder of the enduring spirit that Mount Royal embodies. In summation, the Mount Royal Cross is more than an architectural marvel—It's a place where solace and splendor intertwine, where nature's symphony plays out against a backdrop of urban wonder. From its ample shade to the contemplative aura it exudes, the Mount Royal Cross is an emblem of nature's resplendent embrace.

It’s a nice walk to the top of Mont Royal and the cross. Once you get to the cross there are multiple ways down and around the mountain. The main trail does a loop from the main lookout to the cross (a lot of people get confused when they’re a few hundred feet away thinking they didn’t go the right way).

i have been here two times: one was when i was 18 and once when i was 19. you may be thinking to yourself, that is not that much time to elapse in between! she must have not changed between these two times she went to the cross! well i have to say that in the year in between my visits to this lovely cross i had so many life expeirenced. i cried, i laughed, et cetera. coming back to the cross really was a full circle moment for me. very different during the day versus at night. at night there are less annoying children running around. was very peaceful also because we went at like 3 am. i would say i had a religious awakening here but unfortunately i did not. but you might!

Truly a spiritual experience, I was moved to tears by how the sky opened up around the cross, I felt so blessed to capture this moment with a photo. My eyes are watering again just looking at the photo. For some reason all of the crowds were at the lookout point by the chalet and the area around the cross was empty. After two young people left, I had five minutes there with no other humans to process my emotions and be grateful. Thank you for this experience Montreal❤️🙏🏻❤️

The Montreal Cross, for me personally, reflects in many ways the pure essence of the city. Perched high atop Mt. Royal, it has served as beacon for decades and is visible at night from pretty much any location within the city. You can see it driving into the city from outside on the HWY. It's a bit of a hike to get to it and one must be in somewhat reasonable physical condition to climb the trails.

With all the nefariousness happening on the streets of Montreal currently it made sense to visit the cross this morning October 20 - 2021. It looked good as always and was a beautiful morning in both official langauges, and all languages.

If you're up the mountain, you might as well walk up to the cross. View isn't fantastic from the cross itself, mostly due to the trees surrounding it, but it's a good site to wander up to. If you look through the trees, you should be able to see the Olympic Park

A nice walk up to the Mt-Royal Cross is possible year round. All sorts of birds can be heard and spotted, including the stunning Red Cardinal.

I went when no one was around (dusk on an icy winter weekday), and it was so peaceful up there, I got some great pics! If you're into monuments, this one's scale may surprise you up close (you can walk through the base of the cross).

Nice trails to get there and interesting to see the cross. Not really great views from there as it is set back in the trees, but if you are climbing up to the top of Mont Royal, it is worth the walk to see it.

Today was a beautiful sunny (albeit cold day for a sightseeing on top of Mont Royal), but this cross on the top is not to be missed. Having learned the original symbolic meaning of this cross (at Pointe-à-Callière), we made a trip especially to see this cross that has been watching over Montreal since Maisonneuve planted the cross by the Petit Rivière. Needless to say, the sight is majestic and empowering. The hike up is peaceful and very beautiful even in the height of winter. We enjoyed the view and the dancing squirrels that accompanied our every step. The bird feeders along the trail also provided much entertainment and joy to see the sign of spring just around the corner. Mont Royal is a landmark to see when visiting Montreal, but a stopover at the cross on the top is not to be missed. A note for those taking transit: the Peel stairway to Montreal Royal is from the Olmsted trail. The easiest to get there is from the cross to access the trail. We went to the opposite way and went down toward the Lac aux Castors. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Beautiful place. It has racoons nearby the cross, around the bus stop.

Industrial look. Very cool, wish I could climb it. Praise god

It is a pretty tall metallic cross around 30 meters high. It's pretty cool to look at for the first time but I found the lookouts more interesting because you can see the view of Montreal that changes over time. Still, an important monument because it is where the original much smaller cross was planted when the city was founded by colonial France.

It is a beautiful place with a wonderful view, if you want to walk and have more contact with nature this is an excellent place!

Do not stop to the Belvedere, this is place to go if you are looking for more elevation (and the path will let you have great views on the city and the nature).

The walk, hike or ride is the best part. The cross is really just a destination point. Go to the lookout and Beaver Lake when on Mt. Royal.

Bring your wide-angle camera or a drone and you could get amazing shots done here

This is always a highlight to all my walks on mount royal. If you want to walk on the trails for the nature bug, or walk the main trails following the crowds to the outlooks. You can also picnic and bbq in certain areas. Walk, ride a bike, walk your dog. Take it all in in the centre of Montreal.

This is beyond the Mt. ROYALE View point where the ice cream and Cafe is there. Looks like Eiffell Tower bottom replica.

Extremely relaxing experience, hiked up there from the statue at the base and reached the highest point. Great walk for the family! Bring snacks and drinks and you've got yourself a simple, cheap and fun day set. The view is truly gorgeous!

I didn’t appreciate this cross until later when I learned its history. It (the original cross) was erected in 1643 by a Montreal’s founder when his city survived a big flood. The cross suddenly appears along a trail and it was a great resting spot as I was about to make a way down the mountain.

Mount-Royal Cross is a brilliant gift to the city. The cross is really cool and it can be seen from far away as well. It is nice to walk up and see it and it is a well designed and simplistic cross. With LED lights that change from time to time. It would be nice to see if we could get up there one day or see it from a point of view. The land around is boring but they should have signs and make it beautiful and the story of why it’s there in the first place. It would have been nice if they made the cross a little taller so that it could be seen even further away and have a nice view of have a base where you can visit it and they should have an explanation as to why it was there so that many could read it. All in all, A would reccomend to all visitors of the city.
