Would give zero stars if I could. This hospital emergency seems more like its handling out cruel and unusual punishment for God knows what crime. Majority of the staff seem to have no capacity for empathy and only care about liability. I have been to hospitals in 2 different provinces and 3 'developing' countries and never seen this kind of service in my life. Well done Quebec.

Update: still here and still nobody called me. Been here since 11 am and it’s 8:24 PM. Mind you there aren’t a lot of people in the waiting room. The nurse in REEVALUATION (short with red hair and a mark on her face) very rude as if she is the one waiting for nearly 12 hours. May have to leave uncalled. We came in because I had a stroke. This hospital is very slow beyond belief. They need to fix their system because people have been here longer than me (still here). The doctors take their sweet time as if we don’t need their help. QUEBEC FIX YOUR HEALTH SYSTEM !!!!!!!!!

Not a good hospital... had a car accident and when they fix my leg they didn't put the bone together and I had a bar and pins in it. They only found out after a few weeks, because I couldn't walk in it still. Then I had to get one side of pins taking out, to put the bone together. Now it's been 18 years and just found out why my leg still hurts!!! After x rays and ultrasounds, I have a staff infection on the dam bar they put in my leg!! Years of pain. Now I need to get another surgery. To get the bar and last pin out. Glad I'm never going here again gone to a better cleaner hospital. For my surgery !

You want your loved ones to be treated with compassion and respect? You want them to heal and live? Find another hospital. This one is a waiting room. It's been terrible since before COVID and it's terrible after. Also if you are anglophone, I especially urge you to avoid this hospital. They will treat you even worse. This is a *last* resort place for every English speaker I know.

A bunch of clowns. This place is about playing politics not providing health care. I took a patient who didn't complete 3 months in Quebec to their ER. They wouldn't offer service and said I had to pay $400 up front. I paid then started waiting. 6 hours into the wait the patient pain increased. At around the 11th hour the pain was intense so the patient tried to lie down a little on an empty bench. Of course the security guard was swift to come and start yelling at the patient in French forcing them to sit. We were about 12 hours into this, it became midnight the patient asked me to take them home. Once I arrived I called 811, explained the symptoms and asked what I could do and was told this is very serious you should go to an ER immediately! During my time there, another patient who appeared in his 50s was brought in. The patient was shivering a lot and appeared not fully conscious (he couldn't speak). He was in a wheelchair and the nurse kept trying to speak to him. No response so she left. With the shivering, the wheelchair moved and the patient fell off and hit the ground. It was then that other patients in the ER rushed to pick him up. If you care about your loved ones, it is better to let them suffer with their pain at home than bringing them to these clowns. I'm serious. These events occurred between 11 AM and midnight on the 27th of February 2023.

Went in to seek treatment for a severe case of Bell's Palsy and spoke English. The Triage nurse replied "I don't need to hear this, you can get out now" and then the security guard rolled up in a threatening manner to remove me for speaking English in a PUBLIC HEALTH INSTITUTION. So I had to seek treatment elsewhere which took an additional 3 days to get the necessary treatment for the Bell's Palsy episode and it doesn't seem to be improving as quickly as it should have had they not thrown me out for speaking English. I will -never- go to this hospital ever again and if I ever get rolled in by Ambulance, I'm leaving. Put 1 star because I can't put none.

AVOID THIS HOSPITAL AT ALL COSTS. This hospital should lose their license or rehire competent staff and run the entire place under new management. Not only are the staff very insensitive, they are rude, forgetting that respect goes BOTH ways. I brought two patients here. 1) with Covid and another with blood in his urine. This is the second time in two days that I have come back to receive medical help and have received none. When I first brought my uncle here he explained his pain and the nurse fed him on Tylenol and checked him out of the hospital. They did not even let him see a doctor stating that the wait would be excessive and if his condition worsened we should come back. He started bleeding in his urine so now we came back. We have been here from a little before 10am. It is now 18:00 and we still have not been seen by a doctor. We received orange arm bands but that made no difference as people with green bands were getting ahead to see the doctors and have long been discharged. Now 18:00 is more than a reasonable time to ask a nurse what is happening as we have not been seen. The nurse proceeded to let me know in a very disrespectful way that she had to check in all the patients in the er first before she could get back to us. We are still here waiting………… still in pain, still bleeding, still can’t breathe. This should be illegal.

The emergency is very bad. The wait is very long, even for a child. One of the nurses wanted to take my 7 year old child temperature rectaly, but didn’t really know what he was doing and her hurt and traumatise her in the proces. When we went up to the pediatric floor, one of the staff members(maybe a preposé) turn of my daughter iv machine cause she found the noise anoying, cause nurses were too busy to fix it. It took almost an hour for the nurse to turn it on. According to her that wasn’t suppose to happend but it did happen. No all the nurses but some seem inhuman, they don’t care, not even cause they treat kids there. And the pediatrician that we had for 2 days wouldn’t tell us anything. Just that he was going to take care of my daughter but no info of what was wrong with her or the things that they were doing to find out what was wrong. I had to find out through some other staff members.

Quebec’s healthcare system is not broken its shattered. Animals are treated more humanely than out of province Canadian visitors. The admitting nurse said the wait time was 2-3 hours. After waiting 4 hours and watching everyone else be seen, I went to the attending nurses to ask how much longer it would be. Looking up my name, she actually smirked when she said my wait time was at least 20-24 more hours. I got another smile when I said I was leaving. I used those 20 hours to book an emergency medical flight home.

Think twice if you want to check a loved one or yourself in to UHB/Psychiatric. They strip you down to a nightie and paper slippers, ALL POSSESSIONS BAGGED UP FOR LATER- very inhumane IMO. If you think you’d manage well with with no phone/TV for a few days……it’s not that easy. Glad I’m leaving, staff was actually very kind to me for medication, help finding books to stay busy, or getting a towel or food. Psychiatrists want to blame you for everything, I have physical issues from the virus which have quickly turned into depression because there are no cures….just time maybe. They don’t care, just want to spend 5 minutes to be sure you aren’t too violent & can be returned home. Even if it cannot be avoided, keep your stay in UHB to a MINIMUM!

Worst Hospital Some sweet and kind employees, but a lot have a lack empathy and patience. Lots of incompetence. Traumatizing experience when you go there for suicide prevention at the emergency, freezing and waiting for 16 hours.

I arrived at 9:45 for problems with my kidneys/vomiting/blood in urine/not being able to pee. The lady at triage gave me Tylenol (PRIORITY 2). I waited in the waiting room for quite some time and when I was called again to give more Tylenol (by a new nurse) I explained to the lady that I still feel the same as I did this morning and that I had been vomiting at the hospital. This lady did not listen to me at all. Considering the Tylenol I took she decided to then change my priority down because she gave me Tylenol but my pain hadn’t changed (PRIORITY 3). When I went again to see triage the girl explained to me that I was only here for back problems and that my priority had now gone down to 4 (not urgent) the girl went on to say that it was the other nurses fault and threw a pee sample at me without explaining to me how to use it and NO BAG (Unsanitary). When I gave her the sample I explained to her thank you for giving me a bag and she did not like that. She said to my face that it enough. Enough of what I’ve been here for 18 hours and IM STILL HERE. When I spoke to the responsible of all nurses he cut me off and said that if the nurse decides you have back pains then you have back pains. I went back to the emergency room to call to make a complaint right away and then a security guard came - escorted me out of the building to ask me if I filmed the nurse. THIS WHOLE TIME IM IN PAIN AND IM BEING NEGLECTED.

Worst experience, I had a deeply cut in my finger and I was bleeding a lot, and after six and half hour waiting, a nurse told me that I had to wait twenty hours more to receive the stitches that I needed. I left the hospital without treatment and still bleeding

Please read. After 12 hours of waiting, I got admitted into an observation room as I had shortness of breath, taquicardia, bloating, and severe fatigue. They did blood tests, X-ray, MRI, ultrasounds, and the cardiologist (Dr Boileau) discharged me next day saying everything was ok, that it may be stress! I kept feeling bad so I got an appointment with my family Doctor. Turns out I have hepatic steatosis and bibasilar atelectasis in my lungs. They saw that in the x-ray at the hospital and I can't believe they didn't tell me anything! Also, my ALP and AST levels (liver), my white blood cell count, and the D-dimers test was really elevated. All these tests were done at the hospital, and because they ruled out a blood clot, they told me to go home without explanation. I wish the Director of that hospital is aware of what happens there. I wish everybody who reads this think twice before going to that hospital which is the mother of negligence. This should be illegal!

I get that it’s the whole Health system that is at fault and all of that but my friend got into a motorcycle accident. By the grace of God he made it out alive. He was brought to Charles-LeMoyne Emergency room around 11:50 PM and got dismissed at 6:30 PM that’s almost a whole 24h I’m the emergency room. Green bracelet (non urgent too loll that’s insane). The lady at the “triage” had the audacity to talk to us crazy because we mentioned wanting to be given an appointment to be able to leave and come back on our own terms. Almost 12hrs later a gentleman (shout out to him) at Triage C granted him the opportunity to leave and come back with an appointment. What I found crazy is that the emergency room wasn’t crowded the wait time was crazy and they were not allowing people to nap! I mean if we are gonna stay overnight, 12+ hours and the emergency room is not crowded, everybody gets to sit, why does it matter if someone wants to nap. They were systematically waking ppl up while almost holding us hostage here. Now that’s crazy. And let’s not forget I had to buy a first aid kit to disinfect my friends bruises and scratches because this wasn’t even done in the 20hrs of wait at the ER. Crazy! Meanwhile Legault is focusing on French and not on what really matters!!!

I am deeply disappointed and shocked by the racist and discriminatory treatment my 70 year old mother experienced yesterday as a foreigner at your hospital. After enduring a 10-hour wait and finally seeing a doctor, Dr. Bergeron and another unhelpful individual started the visit by callously stating, "you are a foreigner; this is going to be VERY expensive, you will never be able to pay for this, be thankful you are not in the US because you'd be left on the street." They proceeded with tests for a patient experiencing convulsions and callously suggested going back to her country for neurological care due to assumed financial constraints. The attitude displayed was absolutely ridiculous, and the comment, "she doesn't care, after all, she doesn't make a cent at the hospital," was both unprofessional and disturbing. This has been the nastiest experience I've ever had, especially as a Canadian bringing my visiting mother to the emergency room. This raises serious concerns about the professionalism and empathy of your staff. Too bad I didn’t record this.

to begin with, the emergency room treats you very badly, as if you were crazy, I had to wait more than 6 hours and no one attended to my mother who had severe pain in her belly. Apart from that they treated me badly for only speaking English and they told me that they did not understand me and that I should leave. if someone comes in dying they leave them to die right there in the emergency room. I had never felt so indignant, and no one had ever treated me badly for only speaking English.

Been here multiple times, consistently proves to be the worst hospital in Quebec. Avoid at all costs. My girlfriend waited for 12 hours with a concussion after a car crash, we ended up leaving after I spoke with the nurse and she said my girlfriend was not a priority, she was bottom of the list. Went somewhere else and saw a doctor within an hour. This hospital is absolutely disgraceful. Negative 5 stars.

In my visit the triage nurse hardly understood english, and wrote false report which was also falsely understood by the doctor who did not clear it up with me. On a high blood pressure visit, they forced a covid 19 test on me, gave me wrong medication, made me strip in front of group of people and kept me overnight all against my will and the medical examiner regarding my complaint wrote a false report to justify the action. Too bad for such upfront clean hospital to have some incompetent staff to my surprise even more incompetent medical examiner .

Literally the worst hospital I've ever been to, super rude staff, ridiculous wait times which is beyond unacceptable and don't think it's because of covid because they were bad long before. I came in by ambulance with a concussion a month ago and even with that I waited over 8 hours while I could barley see straight and was throwing up constantly. My grandmother over 80 years old went in today around 2pm and she still has not been seen when she took a bad fall and hit her head. Horrendous hospital and very very badly organized.

Avoid at all costs, the nurses in the emergency are incredibly rude and show absolutely no compassion when you ask them how long the wait is, they act like you’re bothering them. I’ve never received such bad service and I can’t believe I’m saying that at a hospital Edit: Once you pass emergency, nurses and doctors are incredible. I changed my rating from 1 to 3 because the difference was like night and day. I still waited 15 hours to see a doctor (and I was a second degree emergency, after people with heart attacks) but thats Quebec medical system for you. we’re still blessed to be here, but the system is broken and this province needs to put its priorities in check

If you are Autistic, an Anglophone, or an Immigrant: THIS IS THE BEST HOSPITAL FOR YOU!! I dislocated my ankle and broke my leg and was brought here by ambulance. I have never gotten such great and effective care in all of my time in Québec. I do not have government Healthcare yet and was able to settle all payment discussions within one day. I've spent weeks trying to contact admissions at other hospitals in the past so one day is exceptional. [Immigrant] Everyone was very kind and gentle with me. They allowed my husband to stay with me through every step except the surgery, but they let me keep my stuffed bunny until I was completely asleep [comfort item; autism]. My anesthesiologist was very careful in regard to me having EDS and let me know every step of his thought process. My surgeon was very kind and gentle. All of my nurses were compassionate and caring. My comfort wad their top priority and they made it very clear. I was in so much pain that I had to stay an extra day as they didn't want to send me home until they were absolutely sure that I was okay. I have food aversions [autism] and was having trouble eating the meals provided so they had a nutrionalist come in to visit me and create a balanced meal plan. She asked what foods I didn't like, things I really liked, about my allergies, and was overall very helpful in getting me meals I could actually eat. One of my nurses was even so kind to ask for and use my preferred pronouns which made me extremely happy. 90%-95% of the staff speak both French and English [anglophone) very well and some also speak Spanish. In comparison to other hospitals I've been to, this is the best so far.

Been waiting with my mother for over 12 hours in emergency. Started off in the corridor next to the ambulance entrance, freezing the entire time. Just moved to our 2nd exam room, which is barren except for the exam table and the chair I am sitting in. Let's hope they don't forget about us. Thank you to the triage nurses, the only staff members who actually thought to ask my elderly mother what language they should communicate in. She is already nervous about having trouble breathing, so let's throw in not.knowing what is being asked of her. This emergency is a zoo.

There’s a Garda security guard, black woman, maybe Haitian , thick boned, that raises her voice to people when entering the hospital, and is very aggressive. She should lose her job for her misconduct. She also has a strong and smelly body odour, probably doesn’t shower much.

I am currently having to a really bad experience at this hospital. What really gets you is that we all pay taxes for healthcare and can’t even get to see a doctor before waiting 10+ hours. People with blooded nose still have to wait, and your position keeps getting taken from other people with higher priority. Even if after waiting 10+ hours It’s not the hospital but more the system that’s adopted nationwide.

I went on monday evening with a kidney infection and after waiting for about 8-9 hours I was sent back home without seeing a doctor. They just gave me an appointment for their clinic. Went to the clinic, they were behind on their appointments so i had to wait an extra 3h, saw a doctor for 2 minutes who just gave me antibiotics with no tests or mri and told me to go back in 2-3 days if i don't get better. Now im at a different hospital waiting to get antibiotics trough an IV. Unless you get there by ambulance I would not recommend it.

A clean and well organized hospital. I’ve visited here for family a few times and each time I have received satisfying service. All the people complaining need to count their blessings because their healthcare is free. I’m from the states where you normally have to pay for this kind of stuff, so stop crying and listen to the doctors and nurses.

I am navigating the system with a cancer patient and I must say the experience has been excellent so far. We had an appointment today and we were seen on time and treated with a lot of respect and understanding, and never felt rushed. We had to complete two additional tests in two different departments on two different floors and waited less than five minutes for each one upon arriving. In-and-out in just over 90 minutes, so free parking to boot! I think many of the negative reviews are due to Emergency Care which is an issue in itself — not just at this hospital but across the province — because despite only being intended to handle urgent healthcare issues they have become the catchall for everything. Due to the shortage of family doctors and the expense of private care, so many people have nowhere else to go and they gum up the works.

This was my very first time going to a emergency and having to stay overnight. I had the chance to view first hand what these Doctor/nurses go through everyday. It takes an army and strong team work to have just one department operate. I could not ask for better care. As an anglophone I had no issue. Our government needs to spent time in the shoes of these employees, to understand what they are delivering with on a day to day basis. I appreciate the care / service I received. Bravo on job well done! Thank-you! Brenda

Been waiting for 26h now and still no sign of any help. Did a scan after 19h of waiting and said the doctor will see you shortly. That was over 5h ago and still no sign and no one knows anything when you ask. Disgusting behaviour from the staff and should expect much better from a hospital when in an emergency

I have been reading all the reviews, the majority negative...well let me tell you.... I was hospitalized in their CCU (Coronary Care Unit) after suffering a heart attack, was there for 4 days (was released on the 14th of June) The compassion and care I had gotten from the staff (I think it was on the 5th floor) exceeded my expectations! And I'am in the health care myself (I work for the MUHC) - and was concerned about how I would be treated - considering they had a bad rep many many years ago....even my best friend's sister used to call it "Charlie's Butcher Shop" lol...okay, its not funny! I was extremely satisfied with the care and even commended to the head nurse of that particular unit (Guillaume) that the care I got was impeccable! Bravo!!! Thank you so much for your dedication to the patients...the care I received definitely comes from the heart, for sure! You can sense it. I hope there's a good translator that can translate all of this (I am fluent in speaking French but not that good in writing!) Again, thank you so much, I shall never forget the CCU (thank you again to Pierre-Eric, Pierre, Laurence, Alexandre, Simon, Florence, Alexandra (I think that was her name) and whoever else I forgot, for the exceptional care I received!

I didn’t have a bad experience, like I do at hospitals. I arrived at 10:30 pm. I was triaged within 5 min, tested and registered the same hour. I was then evaluated ~2h after and send home with an appointment for their clinic at 9 AM. Because I wasn’t urgent, they didn’t want to make me waste my time sleeping there. I felt like it was the right thing to do from the hospital.

The worst emergency in the whole area. The wait time are between 15h-24h. Over and over I have come here and the situation is always bad. The triage is very bad. They leave patience in pain, bleeding waiting. I've seen patience almost die in the waiting room because of their negligence. Once I was brought in because I was having a huge intolerance reaction to meds that I was prescribed. Because I have tattoos they automatically assumed I was on drugs and and left me with muscular convulsions to do an ECG and send me home. Luckily I did not take my second dose. I went to another doctor to confirm that I would have died should I have taken the next dose. They made my daughter wait so long for stiches once that the window for stiches passed and she was no longer a candidate for stiches. I have many more . GO TO A DiFFRENT emergency room . Have not seen a doctor, or test yet after 10 hours so far, today I've witnessed a person have convulsions, this person was theargic the whole time she was in the waiting room and nobody did nothing until this person convulsed. another person was in so much pain and walking very crooked because this person was dizzy and unstable on their feet. This person could not walk and they kept this person in the waiting room( instability) it was negligent of them leaving her in the waiting room no supervision. She should have been in a bed . Horrible.

I was yesterday 3 November 2023 at the emergency room with a kidney problem. It’s true, I waited there 8 hours , but is not their fault. Many people with very minor problems flooded the ER. I want to thank Doctor Ying (urology) a great professional, thank you to all the nurses and to all the personal from this hospital…THANK YOU !!!

In the end, they say, the system is to blame, end there are 60 more people before me.In the waiting room there are no more than 20,and during this 16 hours, was almost empty. I left in tears. SHAME!!!

My wife was 19-20 weeks when she had placenta previa, for 3-4 weeks they misdiagnosed her and told her everything was okay it’s just her cervix bleeding and not to worry. As we got to The Royal Victoria hospital 2 days ago they instantly diagnosed her with Placenta Previa, and told us that she should’ve been admitted here 4 weeks ago. So we are currently sitting in the emergency maternity unit, hoping for everything to be okay. But things would’ve been a lot better if we came weeks ago… besides everyone being kind and friendly I wouldn’t recommend this hospital if you’re looking for a diagnostic, they will just send you home and tell you you’re okay, unfortunately. Also some old big French lady with a dyke haircut was extremely rude to my girlfriend in the emergency triage while we thought she was having a miscarriage, she was rude and told my girlfriend to stop complaining about the pain and the situation. She was lucky I wasn’t in the room at the time. My girlfriend can go back to CLM hospital at 34-36 weeks if everything is looking good, but she Dosent want to at all and she told me told me not to let anyone bring her there.Don’t blame her. We will not be returning there, ever!

I’m a first generation immigrant to Quebec and don’t speak French. The hospital staff were super friendly and talked in English. I had a planned procedure and was done as planned. I had some initial hesitations but I came out happy. Not sure why there are negative reviews.

If you are an Immigrant, Autistic, or have EDS; THIS PLACE CARES!! I have been to the hospital multiple times since I've arrived in Québec and this hospital has treated me the best BY FAR. Always kind and understanding. I dislocated my ankle and broke my leg. I had to have a surgery and they took such good care of me and were exceptional. I will go to this hospital time and time again versus my experiences at other hospitals in the area. My nurses were kind, my doctors were kind, my sirgeons were so ge the, and my anesthesiologist was very careful and understanding (I have a high intolerance to pain meds and anesthesia due to a multitide of disorders/diseases). I had to stay overnight and throughout a day. I am autistic with food aversion so they had a nutritionist come speak with me about what foods I liked, didn't like, were allergic to, and helped create balanced meals for the duration of my stay.

My review is only for the commons on the general interest of the healthcare services! Charles Lemoyne Hospital is a teaching and training hospital affiliated with University of Sherbrooke to train medical and nursing schools students. It has almost 600 beds with 3,000 employees including 1,500 nurses, and 500 healthcare professionals and specialized technicians! It is the major hospital in Longueuil, Quebec and covers the neighbouring cities on the south shore of Montreal. Thank you for the excellent services and saving lives!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the excellent care received during my very recent stay (following a total knee replacement). I was just discharged a few hours and am grateful for everyone who participated in my recovery. Dr. Roby is wonderful! I am now ready to enjoy my new knee!

I've been at this hospital 🏥 a number of times in the last three weeks in preparation for knee replacement surgery on August 23rd. My interactions with staff have been positive every time. From MRI's, blood tests, radiology surgery support, my experiences have all been positive.

One of the worst hospital. Very slow ,long waiting in emergency. Emergency should change the name to relaxgency. Most of the hospital has long waiting in emergency but this hospital I think has the longest waiting. Health QUEBEC and Health canada pls dont pay attention to improve this. Let us (the general people ) die in the hospital emergency.
