Built in 1864, commissioned by the Vila town council, when it was still an independent municipality, by the architect Antoni Rovira Trias. The tower has a square base and is 33 meters high. Inspired by the Italian "campanile", it is located in the center of the square, presenting characteristic elements such as the fountain with human-shaped taps; the shields of Gràcia, Barcelona, Catalonia and Spain that we find on the four sides of the base and the twelve terracotta reliefs that represent the zodiac, located on the central cornice. The building is crowned by a four-dial clock and two bells. The largest is known as Marieta.

We had such a lovely time on this square. On our way from Park Güell we stopped on this square to have some tapas and drinks. There were kids playing football on the square, and my son was so excited. He managed to join them although none of them spoke English. He was sooo happy. It was a sunny day in February, we were eating great tapas at Cadaques, drinking bear….perfect day for our family.

(Translated by Google) A very beautiful square with a lot of history in the center of Gracia surrounded by several interesting businesses...restaurants and tapas bars among others, where the central tower with a bell tower and a clock called the Gracia bell tower stands out, built by Antoni Rovira i Trias in 1864 with many mythical stories behind them and very relevant to the city of Barcelona.

Having a drink on its terraces is somewhat expensive, so it may be worth sitting on a bench to chat with friends.
