Run, don’t walk away. While this property is on the water and has beautiful views and a top floor restaurant, it was run down, poorly run, dirty, and a complete mess to visit. We have stayed at nicer Best Western’s in the US than this particular Fairmont. 1. Views from the restaurant - beautiful. Good service but the food was more like a college cafeteria. 2. Hotel community space was old and falling apart, smelled of trash, pool water, and feet - not a place I would come to again 3. Rooms were spacious but 20 years old and the AC didn’t work great 4. Food quality at Nikki Beach, the restaurant and the bar was a 2 out of 5 at best. Overall we view this stay as a loss and a waste of our time and money. I would encourage folks to look at other destinations when visiting Monaco 🇲🇨

Good location. Beautiful balcony views overlooking the water. The hotel and the rooms are dated. The colors, the materials, the finishes all feel like they're from the early 90s. Overall It feels like an oversized Holiday Inn. The lobby is always crowded with people and if you're looking for something contemporary or fancy this place doesn't have it. Room service was good but nobody else seemed to care too much about anything. The beach is nowhere near the hotel. Hotel guests who want to use the pool will be surprised to find that they must share it with Nikki Beach resort. Nikki Beach resort staff were extremely rude and unhelpful. The lobby restaurant has OK food. I noticed the rooms facing The Hairpin turn on the street are closed and they are being renovated. Maybe once the entire place is renovated I will consider staying here again

One of the best hotels in Monte Carlo. It's near to all attractions. Service is perfect. The lobby bar has tasty desserts. Rooms are big and each room type has good views. The best thing about this hotel is the breakfast area with the endless sea view. The buffet also has a large variety.

Worst hotel stay of our life. We booked this hotel in part based on the cute photos of the pool they prominently display on their website, assuming incorrectly that the pool would be part of the experience. Instead, when you arrive at the pool, the staff leads you through the pool area (which is in reality an almost-empty ‘private beach’ where you’d have to reserve your chairs to be allowed to sit) to a very small area at the back of the roof separate from the pool area and bar and where 30 or so cheap transats (not seen anywhere on the hotel’s website) are crammed in a very small space in the shade with no table where you cannot even see the pool area. In fact, access to the pool is quite inconvenient as you’d have to walk through the ‘private beach’ area you are in no uncertain terms excluded from. As hotel guests, you are in fact being treated like 3rd class citizens in your own hotel. Never have we been treated like 3rd class citizens in any place ever before that. This is the scam of the century. Of course everyone in that small area of the roof is seething with outrage at how they are being publicly treated - the walk of shame through the ‘private beach’ area. No joy, no hospitality, no smile anywhere, this is just a scam. False advertising, deceptive marketing. Avoid at all costs!

Great location for the F1 but considering the brand the F&B service and attention to detail fell far short of what I'd expect from the Fairmont brand. Felt more like a Las Vegas hotel than what I was expecting of Monaco. Hotel facilities are very tired. Definitely time for a refurbish like the Savoy

Sadly, this place is not the phenomenal hotel it used to be. Peak summer time and the pool is almost empty. To make matters worse, now they charge hotel guests an extra €240 for each pool bed next to the water and they give the free pool beds next to all the construction work that blocks the view, is noisy, and you can see the clouds of construction dust. What a disgrace for an institution that used to be so charismatic. If as a paying hotel guest you don’t want to spend an additional €240 per seat, they pack you up like sardines, amongst as many long chairs they could fit in the small section looking out at the construction view. Another small but telling anecdote: My phone died and, when I asked if I could charge my phone at the pool desk, I was told it would be €8 to rent a charger. On top of it, they said that I would have to look an outlet myself (at the pool!) as they could not charge it for me. Given these penny-pinching measures, it’s very evident the Fairmont Monaco is not doing well financially. Unfortunately for them, this is exactly how you lose even more customers. Safe to say I will not be staying here again after many years of visiting with my family.

My stay at this hotel was a bittersweet experience which leads me to share an honest review. Let's start with the positive aspects: the cleanliness of the hotel is truly impeccable. Every corner shone with neatness, which is worthy of praise:. Special recognition deserves the breakfast as it offered a wide variety of options that would satisfy any palate. The quality of the food is excellent and is the highlight of this establishment. However, the disappointing part of my visit was the interaction with the staff. Despite the high expectations I had for the quality of the hotel, the treatment by the employees was not up to par. I had the impression that only someone who arrives in a Ferrari or a Rolls Royce is worthy of exceptional kindness. A hotel of this category should offer equally excellent treatment to all its guests, regardless of their mode of transportation. This was a negative point in my experience, as customer service should be a priority in any luxury establishment. All in all, if you value cleanliness and high-quality food, this hotel has a lot to offer. However, if you expect friendly and attentive treatment from the staff, you may be disappointed, unless you arrive in a luxury vehicle.

This iconic hotel in the hotel hairpin on the Montecarlo F1 circuit is just a luxurious in all sense. The rooms on the sea front is just breathtaking. Breakfast is abundant and scrumptious. The staff are friendly and ready to help when needed. I would love to go back during summer and make use of their rooftop pool.

The hotel is lovely and conveniently located in Monte Carlo; however, when my son first took a shower at the hotel, the shower head fell on the back of his head. We immediately called the front desk and asked that someone fix it. When we returned from dinner later that evening, we asked the front desk if it had been taken care of - they said it had not yet been seen to. They then sent someone up to our room to sort it out who explained that a plastic piece was broken - he returned with a new piece which fixed the problem. Our issue is 1) we twice had to request the hotel to remedy the broken fixture and 2) my son suffered a concussion as a result of the way the shower fixture fell on the back of his head. He had to follow concussion protocols for the rest of our stay in France and is now seeing a neurologist to ensure all is well The Fairmont offered a free breakfast which we declined and a slightly reduced room rate. A hotel of this caliber should regularly check its room fixtures and fully compensate their guests when they are injured because of a faulty fixture.

The locations is great! The view of the marina is wonderful and you're close to everything by car. Rooms were cozy and clean. The decor was really simple. I loved the balcony 😍 As for service, I can't really speak of since we didn't get any. I don't know if it's because we are black but no one greeted us at all, we basically felt ignored as if we weren't there. But we didn't care since we came to experience the area!

We enjoyed breakfast at the rooftop. The breakfast buffet was excellent, plenty of choice and fresh. Unfortunately the area could use some upgrade in paint and materials as the weather has influenced it over the years. Staff is very friendly and customer oriented.

Old. Should be refurbished. Lives on its former glory. Not at the level of the 5 star hotels in Monaco.

From check in to check out we had a wonderful experience. All the staff were so welcoming and friendly, we were made to feel very special. Our rooms were large, immaculate and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud! We also loved the pool area where we felt like we were on a beach resort! What was extra special was the birthday cake in my room on my birthday! Thank you Fairmont!

The location of the hotel and it’s view are great. Also room staff is lovely. However, the hotel looks very run down, and rooms smell like cigarette smoke. Also, at the pool, there’s only a tiny reserved non paid area for 1000s of hotel guests without any shade. Twice, me and my kids were told that there was no (free) space for us to sit, even though we had a room of nearly 2k a night. The hotel feels extremely focused on commerciality vs making sure guests have a pleasant stay

The hotel is very representative of the city: old, overpriced, full of arrogant people. Shockingly ageing property, you could not sit on the desk chair it was so old and soft, the bed was super uncomfortable with terrible pillows, the noise level was intolerable and the sea view blocked by a massive construction site. It was over crowded, over priced and stressful. The only good things I will say about this place is the staff do their best to serve well despite a horrible clientele. And the breakfast is very good. But my advice would be - avoid at all costs. Ideally stay in Nice!

Located centrally in Monaco just beside the Casino, has big clean room (Old British colonial style decoration,...) Recommend to try the breakfast during the sun raise at the top of the hotel....Take a bit time with you to enjoy the sun shine over the sea and mild wind....just nice...

Everything was fantastic inside the room. We did find for the calibre of hotel duck tape on the floor keeping carpet together in the hall way and food on the floor that wasn't cleaned up all week really shouldn't be acceptable.

Staying at the Fairmont was good. Located near mall, shops and casinos. Staff was great, always helpful. Views from restaurant are breathtaking. Rooms were very clean filled with amenities. A very safe place.

Wonderful place to stay. Clean rooms, helpful staff and amazing food. Great view from the main restaurant and from the rooftop restaurant, perfect pool. This hotel is really amazing place to stay. Also the Formula One bend is in front of it. I really liked it and hopefully will be back next year :)

Location was top. Unfortunately there we some things I would expect from a hotel of this caliber: 1) the rooms to be nicer and not so dated 2) the breakfast was below average, the waiters don’t know what a flat white is and the food is cold and soggy. On the positive side: gym / sauna was nice and well served, reception was professional and friendly, bed was comfortable

Iconic Hotel on the famous Formula One turn. The price was good to me. The receptionists were little bit seems confused during the check-in, maybe due to the large number of people who were checking in due to some conference organized on the same day of our stay. We got a room with disable people access which is bigger and wider from the normal room. The concierge people were friendly and ready to help. The room furniture seems used a lot and need to be replaced. Also, the sound proofing of the rooms needs to be changed or at least improved. My room was next to the elevator and I was literally can hear every conversation outside.

Nice place, a bit dated and pretentious feeling but some nice rooms that can feel hard to find because the hotel is so big! Breakfast is very good with a nice view (wear sunglasses) only gripe would be the internet....it should be free and blazing fast for the price of the hotel. Instead it's locked to very slow rate unless you pay for it.... nowadays that's just a bit silly! Stay there on business again? Sure, on my own dime? Probably not.

I really liked the hotel. The room was nice new totally black out for the sleep as I like and no noice from the housekeeping in the morning that kept it quiet as should do …as well from other guests. Didn’t try breakfast to share opinion but at the swimming pool especially the men in charge were very good at their task and at the door Fabio made our life easy with the transfers etc . Thank you

It is unacceptable to be so noisy 24/7. Especially if they put out you at the floor under lobby, prepare to wake up at 6 o clock in the morning and get annoyed by all types of noise the whole day. Avoid by any means if you are looking for a place to chill and relax. Very disappointing experience .

I had a wonderful stay at the Fairmont. They were very accommodating and sensitive to my needs. I went from the hospital to the hotel and the staff did everything in their power to make sure I was comfortable. A big thank you to Jean Michell who really went the extra mile. I wasn’t able to leave my room due to my surgery and he was always so helpful and kind. A big thank you.

Unfortunately, we were not able to test the hotel thoroughly and give a detailed account of our experiences. The one star is awarded because there was no goodwill on the part of the hotel with regard to canceling the trip, which had to be done due to an unexpected death case. For such a well-known hotel, we as prospective customers find this a very poor service and terms and conditions. Above all, we wanted to postpone the trip or book again in February. But we are not satisfied with such poor service. At least a partial refund could have been made. What a pity!

Don’t make the mistake of booking your stay at this hotel in Monte Carlo. My husband Jorge B made a reservation for an event that we were attending and got cancelled and the hotel refused to return our money despite the fact it was due to circumstances beyond our control/an event being organized at their hotel. My husband tried to speak to the property several times, sent emails with communications from event organizer as to why the event got cancelled and the hotel never responded/replied to our request. We feel our money was stolen and they never reconsidered/made an exception to their policy to return our money. I will place a formal complaint with the hotel chain.

I’ve stayed several times at the Fairmont Monte Carlo. It’s second to none. Most definitely one of the best Mediterranean views. See you in June

Pros Great location in Montecarlo Good view to the sea Great customer service! Cons Expensive parking . You can park your car in a close parking for $20 Euros per day instead of $60-70 Súper expensive prices for food and drinks compares to the prices of the night per room

Great hotel situated in a amazing historic location. In a place where building and construction is everywhere it was a relief to shut it out with a clean and very comfortable room, a balcony overlooking a gravel courtyard providing the perfect quiet space.

The experience with Fairmont in Monaco is excellent! The staff here is super friendly like Stella who cleaned our room perfectly, like Sebastian who always reply in time on WhatsApp for my request. The restaurant Nobu and roof bar is great with the food and view. Even though the SPA is offered at room due to the renovation but the service is on the right level. Thanks for the great 3 days experience for the 2022 new year eve

Decent. Food prices are astronomical. Service in restaurants can be lacking unless you get certain people as servers. Julien is THE BEST there. If they were all like him, I'd have bumped this to 5 stars.

Our view of the Mediterranean was wonderful dining on the restaurant balcony. The yachts coming and going added to the scenery. We enjoyed be able to watch to moonrise from our patio. The room was spacious, comfortable and well appointed, which is what we expect from Fairmont.

I stayed 3 nights at this hotel arriving on October 22, 2021 and leaving on the 25th and when I make the payment they charge more and after I argued they said that in 10 days I would return to my account and so far this has not happened. I've sent several emails and they don't reappear. I really feel disappointed and wronged as a customer and I will not return to this hotel again and do not recommend it. I didn't want to write here but since they didn't refund my money and don't respond to emails after all this time I decided to comment here.

The teams at the Fairmont are literally the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of witnessing. From the pure hospitality to the extreme efforts they go to in an effort to make your stay special. The cleaning crews working the floor are the same each day and they learn your likes and dislike and treat you like royalty. Going back? I’ll be traveling to more destinations for sure but I’ll have to go back just to experience the best, once again.

The hotel service have gotten better since covid which is rare! We were at a competitor hotel, we decided to switch give en some issues they were having. A Fairmont van came to the other hotel picked my wife. And got the bags from the their lobby and helped her moved to the Fairmont. All the services were great and the staff was very friendly! Thanks so much!

Nice lobby, but hallways and rooms need updates. I found only 2 useable power outlets in my room, and no bedside outlets or usb charging. Toilet ran continuously unless I jiggled the switch. Room temp ranged from more hot to less hot, with no ability to turn on air conditioning. Hotel service is highly professional.

Beautiful hotel location, great breakfast served in here at the 7th floor. About 40minutes away from Nice airport. Still very expensive for the amenities offered and no access to the beach. The view from the balconies is amazing.

Location is everything in Monaco, and this hotel is in a truly great location. But, it would never pass as a luxury hotel in any other place and is definitely not worth the money. The public spaces are fine but the rooms are extremely ordinary and look in need of significant upgrades. I won't stay again until I hear they've majorly refurbished the hotel. I'll choose the Metropole instead.

i wish i could give 0 stars. stay anywhere else. the rooms look like you’re in a hospital. the service my goodness, hotel is so big how is it possible for them to care about you. shower clogs and fills up with water everyday yet they refuse to change the room because in the morning they said to come back after the beach to switch and in the evening it’s too late to switch LOL. their rating must be paid for and rated by bots. don’t know how anyone can enjoy this place.

I stayed in Hotel Fairmont Monte Carlo for 3 days during our SUSE Sales Summit 2021 in November and I really enjoyed the stay in Monaco and this hotel. The hotel staff was always professional, well skilled, helpful and nice to me. They even borrowed me sporting shoes for my morning run, which I appreciated a lot (and would not normally expect), so that exceeded my expectations. I had a room with the sea view which I really liked. Breakfast was also tasty and there is an option to eat on a terrace looking at the sea. I can recommend this hotel and hopefully, I will return in the future :)

What a delightful stay, they dint have any dog sitters available and they kept our buddy in the office while we went to the casino. I wish they dint, probably would have lost so much money but hey.. bless them regardless. I hope to come back really soon!!

We went to enjoy the pool and to have lunch. We couldnt stay because of the construction noise in front of the hotel there is a huge hotel in building. Location is central. Didnt stay for the night but rooms are old and out of date for such prices you expect more!

Very poor and disappointing experience. This is not a “5-star” hotel. As noted by many other reviewers, the hotel and, in particular, the rooms are very dated and unattractive, with old 70s style furniture and fixture/fittings. Worst still, the carpet was severely stained throughout. The wi-fi is poor and only intermittent. Furthermore, I booked a king-size bed room only to be given a twin queen room despite staying on my own (supposedly because they had ran out of rooms). Again, as others have mentioned, the rooms have really bad sound insulation combined with a very noisy air conditioning unit. For example, having had a very busy and exhausting day, I was hoping to have a good night’s sleep only to be kept up by a private party in the hotel, with heavy bass noise reverberating into my room. The night staff had a very laissez-faire attitude and despite calling down to reception repeatedly over the course of an hour (10:05pm - 11:03pm) nothing was done until I came down myself to reception to complain. At this point an unfriendly security guard came up to my room and, after initially claiming the music was from outside the hotel, he eventually acknowledged it was actually coming from a private party in the hotel on the sixth floor. However, despite promising me that he would go up and tell the party organisers to stop playing the music this continued. Eventually, after another 45min, I called reception back to enquire why the music was still being allowed to play, only to be told by the reception lady that the music normally stops at 12am anyway! As a supposedly 5-star hotel, I would also have expected the concierge to assist with local restaurant reservations. Instead, my experience was that after calling the Fairmont concierge staff member to book a specific restaurant, she told me that she tried calling them but they didn’t answer so I should try myself (not even “leave it with me, I’ll keep trying” or “let me offer you these alternative suggestions”). Similarly, I had a guest come and he wanted to leave his rucksack with the concierge while we went for a walk, only to be be bizarrely told that they would not take it despite myself staying at the hotel as it was a “security risk” (instead I had to take it back up to my room, which presumably is not a “security risk” according to the hotel management!!!). In terms of the breakfast, the food was very bland and unappealing, for example the chicken sausages tasted like rubber. The restaurant staff varied from being helpful to very unhelpful, and they were far too slow at cleaning the tables to allow other guests to eat. Overall, a combination of very poor, old and stained rooms, laissez-faire attitude from the night staff and concierge and some of the restaurant staff, poor breakfast quality, resulted in the worst supposed “5 star” hotel experience I have ever stayed in by a large margin (in fact I have stayed at 3-star hotels that were superior). This poor experience was shared by other colleagues who were also staying at this hotel, one even finding buckets of paint being left immediately outside their hotel room! I note that other reviewers have raised these negative issues in the past with responses from the hotel management/manager stating that they were “very sorry to hear this” and that they “would learn” from these complaints/mistakes - clearly this has NOT been the case. It is clear that this is a hotel that is still living on previous glory and has not come to realise what a shambolic mess it has become. May I suggest that the whole management team go visit some hotels in, for example, Dubai (or most other major cities) where they can learn from real 5-star hotels who offer a true luxury experience.
