Our experience with Barrett Adventures was exceptional! I did a snorkeling experience (1 reef) with my 11 year old nephew. Loxley picked us up at the hotel and he made the drive to the boat a pleasure by telling us all about Jamaica. Carolyn and Buckley greeted us and took us out on the boat. My nephew was nervous about snorkeling and Buckley took him aside and gave him a pep talk before we went in the water. Then when we got to the snorkeling site, Carolyn held his hand and towed him in the water for the entire 2 hours. Yes, you read that right, she held his hand for the ENTIRE 2 HOURS! They mean what they say about taking you out for as long as you like. Carolyn was an excellent guide and we saw lots of fish on our snorkel. She never pressured us to finish, we just stopped when we were tired. The changing room/shower area was great when we wrapped up. On the way back, Loxley knew that my nephew wanted to get a coconut, so he stopped at a place for us and we got coconuts and sugar cane. Loxley also asked the owner of the stand to cut us fresh sugar cane so that my nephew could see it. Totally above and beyond expectations. I couldn't have asked for better, they were amazing! Don't book with anyone else if you're going to Jamaica, they will take the best care of you.

Carolyn was nice enough to fit us in on a booked up Memorial Holiday weekend which was greatly appreciated. We did the snorkeling excursion and it was amazing as she took us to a nice area that was not bombarded by tourists. She didn't rush us and actually educated us on all aspects of the coral reef and it was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Her assistant Mark was very accomodating, knowledgeable, and friendly. The driver Richard was on time and gave a Jamaican background of the areas we drove through on the way to the boat dock. If anyone is looking for a fun, knowledgeable, one of a kind, amazing experience then Barrett Adventures is the only place you want to book your excursion with. I promise you won't be disappointed. We spent a day snorkeling with Carolyn and had a fabulous time. It was completely different from the super touristy 2 hour outings - Carolyn is a fascinating person with lots of interesting stories and a wealth of information about Jamaica. We were fortunate to see a ton of fish and really enjoyed exploring the reef. You can't find a better tour.

Went snorkeling with Barrett Adventures on our last day in Montego bay. This experience was absolutely AMAZING, and the highlight of our entire trip! I wish we would have found them sooner, we would have spent the whole trip with this company! They picked us up at 7am from our hotel, took us out to the reef, we seen a stingray and an abundance of different fish, and coral! We were explained what everything was in detail, there wasn't a question she couldn't answer! Absolutely amazing experience, I will never forget it! This company is HIGHLY recommended!

We had an excellent time with Carolyn and her crew! I used Barrett Adventures for airport transportation, and 3 separate adventures. Bottom line, if you want to get away from the tourist areas and see the island in a private, professional way, Barrett is for you. Airport pick up was prompt, and Loxley was very accommodating and a great tour guide. We started off with the Rum Estate. The tour was very informative, the rum delicious, and the jerk chicken even better. My wife and I loved it. Beautiful estate. Next we went snorkeling. This was probably my favorite trip. We could go as long as we wanted, and saw a ton of interesting fish and corral. Carolyn brought us out personally, and we loved the personal knowledge of the island and its ecosystem. Finally, we did the secret falls and tubing. Jumping off the falls was a blast, and the tubing was pretty relaxing. Communication was excellent, every member of the staff was personable, and my wife commented she felt safe everywhere we went. We will absolutely use Barrett again when we return!

If you are having ANY doubts about booking with them, don't hesitate! The snorkeling was the highlight of our trip! We loved it so much we were considering doing it again before we left. They have their own private boat that we went out on and were allowed to snorkel as long as we wanted! It was beautiful! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Buckley and another gentleman, I'm so sorry I can't recall his name at the moment. We also did the Blue hole excursion with Tony. He was also very kind and showed us a little spot that most of the other tours weren't doing. It was gorgeous! We also did the hike with Harry and learned so much from him about the plants and local life. He cut us fresh sugar cane and even helped me when I was being attacked by mosquitos by finding me a lemongrass plant. Our driver Loxley was also very friendly and provided us with tons of information and history as we drove to our excursions. He also didn't mind stopping and letting us get some beef patties and some other local goodies. When we come back to Jamaica we will definitely be booking again!

I went on vacation to Jamaica for the first time recently and what a trip it was! I was first introduced to Carolyn as she met us at the airport and took us to our resort. She told us stories all about Montego Bay and the history of the area. The next day we did a private sailing and snorkeling half day tour with her and Mark from her team. She was prompt in picking us up from the resort and she continued to tell us the most interesting stories - not only about the country but about her experiences. She’s lived an incredibly life! She took us one day to a nearby shopping area and she knew exactly what shops to take us. We spent yet another day on her boat doing some of the best snorkeling ever. You’re out in the water alongside her for as long as you want - never feeling rushed. If you ever visit Jamaica, you have to book Carolyn. She’s one of the most amazing people you’ll ever meet, I promise.  We made countless memories on this trip and it was largely thanks to Carolyn.

JUST BOOK THE TOUR. We went on a snorkeling tour with Carolyn in October. We had an incredible experience. Carolyn picked us up from the resort herself and taught us about the different parishes as we drove from Negril to Montego Bay. Her sailboat is wonderful and very welcoming. Her first mate knows his stuff and you can tell she genuinely cares very deeply about her staff. We snorkeled at Airport Reef and Fish Pond reef. She really does mean it when she says you can stay as long as you like. Fish Pond reef was one of the most active reefs I have seen. It was teeming with life and sea creatures galore. She taught us about the different stages of coral, showing examples of each stage and about different fish/creatures. We left just in time to watch a thunderstorm pass through as we made our way back to the dockyard. I had mentioned always wanting to try a Jamaican patty and she was happy to take us to Mother’s to do just that. Carolyn is one of the most interesting humans I have ever had the pleasure to meet. She is spunky, humorous, and rough around the edges. Her life story is inspiring and honestly pretty epic. (You should write an autobiography, Carolyn!). We will never forget our day with her.

Snorkeling with Carolyn has been one of the highlights of our trip to Montego Bay! She is an excellent guide and gives the best snorkeling tour of any in the area. We were out in the water for as long as we wanted - watching several other tours come and go in the time we were out there. She is interactive throughout the tour - sharing her own story, talking about local history, diving down during the snorkeling portion to show us all different kinds of sea life. Carolyn is well known in the area and knows the inside scoop on all of the local spots. Don’t hesitate to book!

We've been to Jamaica twice now, and both times we did an excursion with the help of Ms. Carolyn and her guides. The first time we went to the secret blue hole and last month we floated on a beautiful river that was between a papaya field and sugar cane. The drive time can be a little long, but I didn't find it to be uncomfortable as the driver ( Richard the first time and Anthony the second) is usually very knowledgeable and willing to answer any and all questions about life and culture in Jamaica. I also like to look at everything around as we drive and just observe the differences and similarities between Jamaica and my own home. Both times, the locations have been fairly private and uncrowded, which is definitely a plus, and both locations were beautiful and the people wonderful. I even got to meet Ms. Carolyn and she was super nice and very energetic! (We had to go pick her up because she had swam out to her boat sitting in the ocean because she couldn't get the dinghy started and then didn't want to swim back lol) I'm excitedly looking forward to our next visit to this beautiful country and will definitely be depending on Barrett Adventures to make it a memorable experience like always!

My wife, my teenager son and myself took a pvt sailing trip with Barrett Adventure last week. Starting from the inquiry calls to reservations to the sailing day Carolyn made our experience perfect and memorable. She is on time and very clear with expectations and accommodating. Carolyn is the most interesting person we met during this trip and her life and sailing experience made this tour very interesting. Our son enjoyed snorkeling with her and wished he had more time. Her boat Wind Horse is very clean and kept us safe. We highly recommend Carolyn's tour to anyone who want a real sailing experience over a party Catamaran :-) Also special thanks to Carolyn for taking us to a nice non touristee gift shop and being accommodating with us. Carolyn and her first mate, Marc, took us out on their sailboat to snorkel in the reefs in Montego Bay. Carolyn was an excellent guide, pointing out fish, coral, conch shells, etc. She and Marc made sure we were comfortable in our gear, provided drinks and snacks, and were generally just great people to take us snorkeling. Definitely recommend going with Barrett Adventures if you want to emphasize actually snorkeling and not have just another booze cruise experience!

Highly recommend Barrett Adventures for snorkeling. My wife and I went snorkeling with Marc and Bobby after Carolyn picked us up from the resort. Marc was a great captain and Bobby was an excellent snorkel guide. I would highly recommend this snorkel tour if you want a more private snorkel tour that you can actually snorkel, not just a booze cruise, like others have said.

Carolyn and Captain Mark took us on the best sailing and snorkeling adventure! Carolyn picked us up personally from our villa and brought us onto her magnificent vessel for an incredible day where she took time to educate us on the wildlife we saw at the reef and ensured that we all had safe gear for snorkeling. Mark kept the sailing smooth as butter and was there to answer any questions we had. We had every need cared for during our day sail, and can’t wait to come back to the island to see the Barrett Adventure crew!

Sailing Feb. 2022 Carolyn gives you a very personalized experience in Jamaica. My husband and I had about 24 hours in Montego Bay before needing to be in Negril to meet another couple at a resort. Carolyn made the most of our 24 hours. She picked us up at the airport and drove us straight to one of her boats (42 foot catalina) where we boarded from the Montego Bay Yacht Club. She immediately took us sailing. We saw a beautiful sunset and we had such a lovely time talking with her and hearing her stories and learning some interesting history about Jamaica. We stayed one night on her boat. We were able to use the dingy to leave the boat and eat dinner at the Yacht club. The next morning, Carolyn and her assistant Mark came to the boat. Mark starting sailing us out to a reef for some snorkeling while Carolyn made us breakfast. One we arrived at this gorgeous reef, Carolyn took us on a personalized snorkeling tour. She is very knowledgeable and was able to tell us exactly what fish and coral we were seeing. After snorkeling, we sailed back to the yacht club where my husband and I packed up and Carolyn’s husband drove us to Negril to meet our friends at a resort we were staying in Negril. Overall a lovely time. We would love to do more adventures with Barrett adventures.

We used Barrett Adventures on two occasions while vacationing in Montego Bay. One was a snorkeling adventure and the other an outing to Mayfield Falls. Carolyn was quick to respond to emails before our travel, and she was highly professional during our two days with her. She is a wealth of information on Jamaica history, people and culture and loves sharing her knowledge. She also works with some standout people/guides (shout out to Mark and Chicken!!). While we enjoyed the snorkeling, our favorite outing was to Mayfield Falls. Everyone in our group of 6 absolutely loved it (highlight of our 6 day trip to Jamaica!). Carolyn was great and was generous with her time letting us stop at a grocery store on the way back to the hotel to get some supplies, and she also took us to a fantastic jerk restaurant on the way back from Mayfield Falls. She aims to please and she does!! Thanks much Carolyn for contributing greatly to our fantastic holiday!

If you are looking for a true non cookie cutter experience ANYWHERE on the island I highly recommend Barrett Adventures! We had THE BEST snorkeling trip I've ever had in Jamaica. They picked us up at our villa in Tryall and transported usti the Yacht Club where we boarded the boat. From there we went over to the reef and snorkeled as long as we wanted! We were in the water for 4 hours!!! Carolyn is a marine biologist and so knowledgeable and fun! They provided a variety of drinks, fresh mango and delicious sandwiches. I can not say enough about Barrett Adventures and look forward to our next adventure.

If you're wanting to learn something of the island or have a fantastic sail and or snorkeling trip, this is the place for you!!! No joke, Carolyn was amazing at showing us the coral reef and pointing out the different fish and sea creatures. She is very knowledgeable on all things relating to the island and the ocean surrounding it. If I ever get the chance to go back to Jamaica, I definitely will be using Carolyn again!

Our group of 6 had a WONDERFUL time with Barrett Adventures. Carolyn is the owner and captain and personally took our group out for a thrilling and relaxing sail and snorkel. The reef snorkeling was some of the best I've experienced. Schools of friendly fishies all around you. We saw amazing coral, big ole' squid, rays and other fish I couldn't identify. As it was our first time in Jamaica, Carolyn's island knowledge was just as important to us as she was able to give expert local's advice on hikes, waterfalls, restaurants and as importantly, which attractions were legit and which were tourist traps... a risk with any island that hosts cruise ships. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up!

We were looking for an alternative to the tours offered by our resort which offered very little time actually spent snorkeling. We are so glad we found Barrett Adventures! We did the two reef tour and it was exactly what we were hoping for - lots of time actually out in the ocean with the fish and the reefs. Carolyn, the owner, was also our guide and is super knowledgeable and shared so much with us about ocean life and Jamaica. 10/10 for getting off the beaten path - would highly recommend and would not hesitate to book another excursion with them.

My husband and I spent my 40th birthday with Carolyn at the Blue Hole Secret Falls and Tubing. We had an absolute blast jumping off the waterfalls and rolling down the river afterwards. Carolyn was an absolute joy sharing so much knowledge about the island's history and Jamaican life. I would absolute use Barrett Adventures again. Carolyn has so many different types of trips and excursions that she offers, and now I can't wait to come back to do more of them. Thank you for an amazing day and birthday Carolyn!

The experience was not what I expected. I booked the Secret Falls (Blue Hole) and tubing excursion with Carolyn for our short day in Jamaica. My girlfriend and I were on a cruise and we were set to be in Falmouth from 7am - 2:30pm. We left Falmouth at 8am, because our driver, Loxley, was an hour late. Carolyn advised that the Blue Hole was less than 45 minutes away, but in reality, it is over an hour away. Once we finally made it there, we were handed off to a local guide, which I was not expecting. The guide was nice and took great pics, but the experience was very rushed. You jump off the falls only a few times and are pushed to move along. It honestly felt more like an Instagram pic session than anything else. Afterwards, you are driven to the tubing location, where again, you are handed off to another local guide. The experience was enjoyable, but only lasted maybe 40 minutes. We were done with both excursions in under 2 hours. We headed back to Falmouth with a stop for some lunch since we had time, and we were back on the boat before 1pm. Overall, you spend more time driving than anything else. For the time & money I would not recommend this excursion, especially for those cruising into Falmouth. I also would not use Barrett Adventures again, as I felt the excursion was misleading on the website, so I wouldn't know what to believe. On a positive note though, Loxley was a great driver and really fun to talk to! The Blue Hole and the tubing are beautiful! Just know that you are paying Barrett to be a driver and to pay entrance fees. They are not your guide for this half-day experience.

Had an absolutely amazing time!! Carolyn was an amazing host, and is very knowledgeable about the reef, Island, and history of Jamaica!! We could have spent all day snorkeling and I know she would have let us!! Thank you so much for an amazing time!! We will definitely be back!!

We had an amazing time at the end of September 2022 on a snorkeling trip out to the reef on their 42' sailboat. The crew was kind, funny, and so helpful, even swimming with us to show us all the different sea life. Scenery was beautiful. We were not rushed and could have snorkeled as long as we liked. Transport was easy. We cannot recommend them highly enough. Book a trip today!

Had such a fun time last week snorkelling with Carolyn! Carolyn is very knowledgeable about Jamaica and the ocean, often showing us and letting us hold fun sea creatures she finds on the sea floor. They pick you up and drop you off from your hotel, let you snorkel for as long as you would like and have plenty of drinks to keep you hydrated and energized! Would highly recommend

The entire experience was wonderful. Carolyn had a wealth of knowledge about the Caribbean. Mark and Buckley were amazing guides on our snorkeling adventure. We weren't rushed and could snorkel as long as we liked. Highly recommend!!!
