Just
came
off
a
7-night
holiday
at
Riu
Montego
Bay.
Overall,
absolutely
worth
it
and
would
return
but
definitely
space
for
improvement.
Service:
The
staff
at
Riu
are
so
engaging
and
friendly
at
every
station.
No
encouraging
tips
(although
they
deserve
them).
Verone
was
a
personal
favourite
during
breakfast
service.
The
bartenders
were
always
rushed,
but
this
was
the
busiest
part
of
the
resort.
The
cleaning
and
bedroom
staff
did
fantastic
jobs,
although
as
previously
stated
if
you
call
down
to
reception
you
won’t
receive
your
request
right
away,
but
rather
whenever
the
cleaning
staff
came
to
your
room
(late
afternoon).
Food:
The
breakfast
buffet
had
essentially
everything
you
might
want
out
of
a
classic
american
breakfast.
They
also
served
quite
a
few
jamaican
dishes
for
breakfast
(ackee
and
saltfish,
curried
chicken,
etc.).
They
claimed
to
have
theme
lunches
and
dinners
but
I
never
noticed
any
of
these.
Overall,
it
is
always
worth
putting
your
name
on
the
list
and
waiting
the
20-30
minutes
for
a
table
at
the
restaurants
Pepe’s
outdoor
jerk
chicken
was
such
a
nice
treat
if
you
don’t
want
all
the
faff
of
walking
inside.
Fresh
food,
outdoors;
and
you
always
have
the
option
of
getting
the
jerk
from
outside
(much
better
than
the
buffet)
and
going
in
for
any
extra
sides.
The
steak
restaurant
was
beyond
mediocre.
Meat
was
poorly
cooked,
bland,
not
a
good
cut.
Sofia’s
Italian
was
by
far
the
best
restaurant.
We
went
here
3
times
as
the
starters
(muscles,
fresh
pasta,
calamari,
antipasti)
were
stunning.
The
steak
was
very
good,
albeit
always
severely
undercooked.
Little
to
say
about
the
Chinese
restaurant
other
than
it’s
kind
of
basic
fast
food
chinese
but
with
few
of
the
staples.
Kulinarium
was
definitely
elevated
service
from
the
rest.
The
menu
was
more
interesting
and
more
similar
to
what
you
might
see
at
a
gormet.
The
lobster
tail
rice
was
a
stand
out.
Entertainment:
Entertainment
staff
was
relentless
in
how
hard
they
worked
and
engaged
with
the
guests—their
energy
levels
were
incredible!
In
the
day
they
really
did
pull
out
all
sorts
of
activities
and
encouraged
for
reserved,
or
lone
guests
to
participate
and
make
friends.
The
afternoons
around
the
pool
bar
were
a
good
laugh.
Unfortunately,
the
evening
entertainment
was
nothing
short
of
boring.
Some
singing
and
bands
on
a
very
bad
sound
system,
one
day
there
was
a
silent
disco
which
was
good
fun,
SuperBowl
they
made
a
big
event
out
of
which
was
nice,
but
still
not
the
energy
you
would
expect.
This
is
likely
due
to
strict
covid
restrictions.
Facilities:
There
were
5
pools
which
meant
you
could
hang
around
the
same
people
every
day
or
move
around.
Some
were
more
rowdy
than
others,
but
this
becomes
clear
on
your
first
day
(pool
bar
after
1pm
gets
wild).
The
staff
are
constantly
cleaning
which
was
really
nice.
The
beach
did
not
meet
my
expectations,
although
it
is
a
man
made
beach;
hard
thin
sand,
restriction
on
how
far
you
can
swim
out,
and
the
beach
bar
was
closed.
Drinks:
Not
good.
The
only
beer
they
have
is
red
stripe
on
tap
outdoors,
and
cans
in
your
room.
The
cocktails
are
pre
listed
and
you
can’t
order
whatever
you’d
like
off
the
list,
unless
it’s
a
basic
mixed
spirit.
The
alcohol
was
absolutely
watered
down,
so
much
sugar,
and
just
over
all
disappointing.
This
was
the
major
let
down
of
the
resort
and
one
of
the
main
reasons
I
would
think
twice
about
booking
again.
Overall,
it
was
a
lovely
experience
and
after
a
ten
hour
flight
an
added
bonus
that
it’s
15
minutes
from
the
airport.
Many
thanks
the
the
staff
at
Riu.
