This place was a gem. Just stopped to get a drink and order the Philadelphia steak soup since other people's food looked so good, and it was probably one of the best if not the best soup I ever had. It also came with corn bread that was just as good. Also great live music and top notch service. Edit: went back for breakfast and everything exceeded my already very high expectations. People that complain about the flavor must have come when there was another chef or just don't know what good food is

Need to get out of the heat in AZ, So...we drove 2 hours to this little gem. The ambiance is great as a small town Cafe with soothing music in the background. The food choices were limited but very tasty. We got our food as ordered and pretty quick. The cobbler for desert was great too. Will be back when a get away is needed.

A friend recommended this place to me on a morning I coincidentally had to be in Pine Valley for a work related reason. It must have been destiny! The food here is incredible and I mean it. There are a ton of places that do breakfast and brunch and all that. But Pine Valley House Resort aka PVH do it amazingly well, all the while maintaining a small town homey vibe. The staff is very friendly, the dining room is very clean and I hear they have all kinds of events there. My favorite part was obviously the food. Please you must check this place out!

From the excellent service and rustic old California surroundings the Pine Valley House is a blast from the past. We’ve eaten there several times and I will say it’s the only sit down restaurant we’ve had the faith in to eat in during distancing and other current guidelines. The staff are diligent and friendly and the food is the ultimate in California comfort. We recently returned from a one month trip across 8 western states and were disappointed in every other smoked meat we tried when comparing to the ribs and brisket at the pine valley house. This place is a joy and it’s addicting.

I have eaten breakfast at Pine Valley House a couple times in recent years. The food and overall experiences I had were excellent. When I went to eat breakfast at Major's Diner across the street yesterday and learned it closed, I was happy to find its food lives on at Pine Valley House. I ordered the Ranch Hand Platter with (Major's awesome) biscuits and gravy. Every bit of the platter was great. My eggs were poached just like I requested, and the side bacon (my order) and sausage (my girlfriend's order 😁) were both very good. Two of my kids ordered and loved the steak and eggs, and the bites of their steaks that I tried were tender and tasty. My other son had the PVH Burger with regular fries and also praised his order. All the steaks and burgers were cooked as requested (e.g. medium rare and medium well). Beyond its great entrées, note that Pine Valley House's delicious coffee and spacious, naturally illuminated dining area add a lot to their breakfast or brunch experiences. You won't confuse where you are for Denny's or IHOP!

This renovated antique restaurant is a back country gem. The food was great with fair prices and the on-site owner was very nice. There is no better for dozens of miles. Stop in if you are biking, hiking or traveling Highway 8.

Oh my gosh! We LOVED this restaurant. We went there to celebrate my in-laws' 52nd anniversary. The food was out of this world, the service (by the owner) was perfect - they even gifted them with a free dessert, personalized just for the happy couple. We will definitely be visiting again.

The food was decent, unfortunately the fries were disgusting! They were crunchy, really really crunchy. I also got the blackened fries to try and I know they are supposed to be heavily seasoned but it was gross. So salty it hurt my mouth and made my stomach upset. Another thing that bothered me is they ask you how you want your meat on your burger..however, there’s no point in them asking you because every burger was the same, pretty burnt. Overall, the fries were the worst the burger was decent but I don’t recommend going here.

The service and food were excellent. My husband had a burger, I had the fried chicken and we had then pork belly bites as an appetizer. It all tasted phenomenal. The fried chicken was really good. We didn’t stay long enough for the live music but it seems like they are hosting some great bands out on their back patio on weekends.

Great laid-back home town feeling restaurant. Not the hustle and bustle hurry up and get you out the door type of place. We even watched people that were in a hurry get upset and leave after the waitress got their drinks to them but then wasn't back to take their order within the next 5 minutes. Our family will definitely be coming here again. Can't wait to try the dinner options.

This gem is only a few minutes past Viejas casino heading out highway 8, in Pine Valley. Their food is just fantastic with real skill from the kitchen. What is just amazing is that they have some of the best musical talent in San Diego County that performs up there. Well worth the trip out to Pine Valley.

The New Catillacs played here for the first time and they had a great time. Super sound system. Lights all set up. Great food. Check their calendar for when we'll be back!

Hospitality, good food and cozy, spacious bar atmosphere. You can play pool before sitting down for breakfast. Dad had the majors breakfast while I had the aci bowl and a side of eggs. Eggs, bacon and hashbrowns were cooked perfectly. Another great place to eat off of hwy 8.
