Dining all'aperto is the appeal of the Los Angeles Farmer's Market, and Singapore's Banana Leaf offers it with samplings of Singaporean, Indonesian, and Malaysian fare. The area is easily accessible to wheelchairs, baby strollers, or a large party. The food is a little underwhelming, so don't expect to be transported to the food stalls of Singapore with every morsel. But it's reasonably priced, so why not? Also have cash at hand, as this seems to be the transaction of choice here and in most businesses at the Los Angeles Farmer's Market.

The food here was okay — first time trying Singapore cuisine so I wasn’t sure how to compare but I was with friends who had Singapore food before and they chimed in. The noodles were good, overall, but not the best. It’s located in the farmers market at the grove and the farmers market has a really cute vibe to it and the energy, ambience, and aesthetic is fantastic which makes the dining experience awesome. The food was okay though.

A reliable Singaporean food spot! The workers are very nice, even when it’s super busy. The tables are kept clean and the food is always good! I usually find myself eating here whenever I’m at the market.

Really nice to have a Singaporean option, which means many different favorite cuisines at once. Overall it was good. The laksa was surprisingly bland, though, and I wouldn't recommend it.

Ordered the singapore noodles with a mango refresher. This place is very good! I would definitely make this one of my regular goto places if I came here regularly. This is not fast food (takes about 5-10 mins from ordering to completion), but is well worth the wait.

To be honest, this is one of my favorite places to go at The Grove. The food's taste is exquisite and delicious! I look forward to going back every single time. I have also introduced some of my friends to enjoy the number four Paratha dish! The customer service is always on point and the wait for the food does not take long to be cooked at all! I highly recommend that more people should try this business!

This is a poor representation of Laksa. No pros at all, the star is to allow me to post a review. Here's the list; Cons: 1. This soup has a bland taste 2. Undercooked noodles 3. Undercooked fishcake 4. Spinach as garnish. 5. Hot Sauce or chillis (instead of laksa paste) Don't expect this to be similar to any Asian Laksa you have tasted, you will not only get disappointed by the taste but also by how slow the service was.

Located inside the Farmer's market. Food is okay (can be more savoury to my preferrence/standard), decent portion, a bit pricey. Friendly staff. Limited seat, and expect for a wait since they will cook it fresh for you. Parking is somewhat limited, especially on weekend/holiday.

I’ve been Singapore many times. Really wanted to see if any Singaporean/Malaysian foods in LA. Before I came here, I’d checked the reviews, it seemed mostly were positive. I ordered a basic fried noodle, wow it was very oily and the taste was nothing special. I needed to drink a lot of water to get rid of the oil in my stomach. Very disappointed for my first meal in LA. I left 3 stars because their service was good and friendly. Probably not come back again.

Malaysian here🙋🏻‍♀️ ! I was SO excited when I saw this place at the farmer market! I (vegetarian)had a laksa with tofu and my husband (non-vegetarian) had the beef rendang with rice. The food tasted good and definitely scratched the itch of my homesick! While I saw many reviews comparing them to the local Malaysia/ Singapore food, I’ll say this, IMO— Is it‘ Americanize’, YES. Is it as good as local food, NO. BUT there are still good!! Just don’t expect them to be as spicy/ flavorful/ deep/ Santan-ny as the actual local food (which I think the Angelenos won’t appreciate it). Keep in mind they accept CASH ONLY.

I'm a Singaporean, and while I'm slightly surprised that the rojak did not have doughsticks, century eggs inside like how it is back home, the flavor of the sauce is pretty authentic. Portion is huge. Not bad to buy if you're craving food from home.

It's not what it used to be. The food use to be better and more flavorful. We also noticed they received a B rating. That's probably due to the dirty fan blowing towards the kitchen or the loose hair or the spider between the juice dispensers. Or maybe it was the dirty looking lime juice container. I probably shouldn't be so harsh in my review since they're a small mom n pop place and their prices haven't gone up as significantly as the crepe place across the way (doubled!). But we haven't been here in a long time and we were really looking forward to their food again.

We ordered roti paratha with vegetarian curry dip and vegan curry puff. Both were good in taste. They also have plenty of veg options. However, the food was cold even after taking so long to serve the food. The puff wasn't crispy and the paratha wasn't evenly cooked. But it was worth the price. I might go again if no other veg option is available in the farmer's market.

Omg this was the best food I've almost ever eaten, and I don't say that lightly. So much flavor, freshness, and goodness. Huge portions that even I couldn't take down. The best part was eating the leftovers for dinner. 10 out of 10. I can't understand how this place only has 4 stars on Google.

I've been looking for a Malaysian place for beef rendang and Google suggested here. It's Indonesian, not Malay, and they were out of beef rendang, so I tried the chicken rendang instead. It was good, but not what I was hoping for - also, the chicken includes bones, it's not just meat like the beef rendang I've had back in NY. The white rice was a bit dry. Seating is first-come, first-serve and is on the small row of tables between vendors in the market. If it's busy, be prepared to take your order to go and eat it elsewhere.

I went on 1/5/2024 in the afternoon, it was a cold day, so I ordered Laksa with chicken. I was disappointed. The soup is bland, not spicy at all, just like curry flavored water. The chicken is dry, I was having hard time chewing and swallowing. Definitely not worth $15 something. It kind of ruin my mood to walking around. I don’t want to try other dishes, and I don’t want to go back.

We went to the farmers market to try a new international dish, we are glad we visited Banana Leaf. When we went the cashier had great customer service, and offered us great advice on what to get. He also recommended we eat our meal to see how hungry we still are after eating before trying the dessert, as the dessert is large and filling on its own and we may not be able to finish it after eating. We appreciated his honesty, friendliness and kindness. This type of service is hard to find in LA, we have been to several international cuisine and they are not honest, and will still give us partially complete items missing ingredients without warning us and trying to trick us just to get money, but not Banana Leaf. We feel like they are not serving us for money, but truly genuinely appreciate us coming to try their food. The food was delicious, I recommend the dish Rendang Fish!

A good mix of Malaysian, Indonesian and Singaporean cooking. The Nasi Lamek and Beef Randang reminded me of the food I used to get when I was in Malaysia. Although they did bring down the spice and flavour to suit the pallet of the local market, it sure was a good reminder of the food we expect from the authentic kitchen.

I used to live here and frequently ate at BL. It was always rich and vibrant but with depth of flavor. Not sure when new owners took over the place but it has permanently changed the caliber of food. The laksa was watered down and flavorless. To the point that the attendant told me he would give me soy sauce and Kecap Manis to add flavor. Seriously?? The beef rendang looked the part but fell flat with the richness of the gravy and the meat hadn’t soaked in the sauce flavor either. Mee Goreng was a little better but still didn’t use the yellow thick noodles or have the rich brown sauce typically served with this dish. I was so sad because this was the first meal I had to eat upon landing. If you have never had the food before then perhaps you won’t mind. But if you are familiar with the cuisine then you will be disappointed. Save the trip and money and locate a better far more authentic place to enjoy Malaysian cuisine.

Singapore’s Banana Leaf is inside the Original Farmer’s Market. They serve Singaporean/Indonesian/Malaysian food. I love the food, it’s delicious. It’s comfort food for me. The food is authentic no attempt to make it American fusion, thank goodness. My favorites on the menu is the Lodeh soup and Chicken Rendang, served on traditional banana leaves. They even have Cendol (if you know, you know)! I don’t think there is another place like this in LA so I’m lucky to have this close to where I live. Needless to say, I happily frequent it.

Wow their Paratha/Prata is really good! The curry is rich. The laska is alright, not the best but pretty healthy. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Will be back:)

Great food! Service could be improved. We asked for water three times and for dishes twice.

Food is a bit greasy but placed in a banana leaf which made very special. I don’t recommend to take the de dessert. They really followed for the spice level I requested. Staff is friendly. Just be patient for your food to be served.

The annual car show at the grove made us hungry, so we stopped in for a late lunch. We loved it. We ordered a curry with fish and another dish with rice vegetables and tofu...a perfect match!
