TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AGAIN AND AGAIN So disappointing, we have eaten here many times as the food is good, but the service is really lacking. Each time we say we will give it another go, but again the service is terrible. On Sunday we sat at the bar and watched 2 staff have an argument in front of customers. All the staff seem to congregate around the bar and just stand around eating and chatting, it is very unprofessional. We watch in disbelief, that this is the customer service they are offering. They then leave you waiting at the bar, so I have to try and get their attention in order to order a drink. No napkins or beer mat given when you do get your drink. Then when I order or ask for something its like a big deal for them or like I'm really putting them out. We have went there several times and notice the staff hasn't changed, its the same disinterested rude staff still there. Management should really keep a closer eye on their staff here as they all seem to be just hanging out - No professionalism whatsoever. We will not return here again to receive such bad customer service.

Too dark, space between tables are inadequate. Can literally touch others without too much efforts. Customers passes and you need to move your chair to give ways. Basically $100 steak with a food court ambience.

The dining environment is classic bistro style (not modern style as the other store in Sydney), really enjoyed here. Food is good as always. 5 stars.

I am usually happy with the Meat and Wine Company - when doing business travel to Melbourne I would frequent their restaurants there. But, there were 3 issues with our service on 28-Feb-2020. I selected a wine Brothers in Arms Shiraz 2010 - when the wine was bought to the table I needed to ask the waiter if it was the vintage year of 2010 as he was about to open it - it was 2012 - I asked if there was any 2010 left - he replaced “No we no longer have 2010 available”. I took the 2012 for our dinner. Point here is if you no longer have a specific vintage please inform the customer of this - just don’t assume they find another vintage acceptable As we were finishing up our dinner the waiter began to clear the table and did not ask if we were finished - grabbed one of our side dishes that still had some food left - put his hand directly into the bow - my partner tried to stop him from taking it away and said she was not finished yet. He was apologetic and did bring us another serve of the side dish. Point here the wait staff needed to understand the proper etiquette and ask if we were finished - not just start clearing the table Lastly, what disappointed us the most was the quality of the meat. The meat was cooked properly but was quite chewy and more on the tough side. Quite disappointing for a reputable steak house. When I informed the restaurant manger and said to him the steak had gristle - he was not aware of what gristle was - I had to inform the MANAGER OF A STEAK HOUSE THE MEANING OF GRISTLE. If you manage an establishment like this you need to be well informed about beef / meat and the terms that describe the product. Very disappointed.

The food was alright but not great value for money. When we wanted to pay they suddenly sprung on us that they were not going to take more than 3 credit cards. There were 8 of us trying to split our bill. No explanation. Didn't care that they were greatly inconveniencing us. You either take cards or you don't. Don't change the rules of money at the end just because you are too lazy to split a bill. Terribly Rude staff. Would never go again. Avoid.

Very nice restaurant with a good value for money balance. Make sure you leave some space for desert. The food is of course of a very good quality but the location is also very cozy.

A great steak house. Plush leather booths and big handled steak knives set the scene - the place has a traditional old school steak restaurant feel to it. But the food is sensational from entrees to desert and of course the steak is bang on. Service is effortlessly friendly and helpful. A great experience all around.

Restaurant was very quiet , much quieter than during the lunch time hours when I have been previously. We ordered a couple of really nice cocktails before deciding on the entree tasting plate with the pork belly, bruschetta, calamari, and South African sausage, and pickled Spanish onions. Was just wonderful. We struggled to complete our mains of steak and skewered beef after having such a large entree but everything was Beautifully cooked to order. A must try when in the city.

A lovely restaurant, we enjoyed the ambience very much, music was perfect, not too busy when we arrived though that changed quickly. We had the typical 3 course, only thing we could fault was the rump steak… just a little tough, wished for a little more tenderness. Though my Blue Cheese sauce - could have taken some home 😜 Service, amazing with such excellence, above & beyond with smiling friendly staff. Special shout out to Rodrigo (love the Blue Cheese sauce) & Anushka - what a sweetie, so friendly & efficient - thank you to both for making our experience better.

I have gone 2 times here for dinner. food : 5star , I had ordered the chicken skewers and it was delicious. Service: 1 star. service is absolutely horrible. decided to take my fiancé for her bday and requested a seat by the window and to bring her a cake and candle at the end. None of which they did. It took more than 45 minutes for our food to come out and when it did, it was cold. they said it will take 15 min to make a new one, but ended up taking 30 minutes for the new one to come out. We never had a constant waiter, not one person checked on us to see how our food was, if we wanted our water refilled or anything. At the end, it took another 20 minutes to find someone to bring out our bill. It is a shame as the food was delicious.

One of my favorite places for all occasions. Great selection of food at great prices. They have a snazzy dining experience with a sophisticated atmosphere holding true to it's African style. The food and drinks are always great. Steaks are juicy and tender with plenty of sides to have with it. Ribs fall off the bone. A++

Very disappointing and overpriced. We didn’t book but walked in to have a nice weekend dinner. Straight up not very friendly reception. Sat us next to male toilet entrance (even though they saw that I was with a girl!) Steak presentation is sub par. They literally just give you a steak and chips or salad on the side, no garnishes. Service is not worth the price.

Not the best experience. Seated at our table promptly but then not attended to for around 15 minutes. So we sipped out water. Started to notice the dust on the wine glasses. Orders for wine taken and a further wait of 8 minutes before the wine was delivered. Then we were abandoned again. We noticed that they were focused on serving large groups rather than just the two of us. Finally they took our order. We both ordered steaks. Waiter asked how we would like our steak cooked. My preference is medium rare, my partners is rare. Also ordered a side of baked cauliflower and also a macaroni and cheese. Our entree of Garlic bread arrived before the main meal which was nice but I believe it was over priced for what it was. The main meals arrived soon after. Much to our disappointment both our steaks were cooked medium well done and were very chewy. Very disappointing considering this place specialises in “Meat”. The wine was fantastic and so was the Cauliflower bake. Macaroni and cheese not so much. Overall the experience was a 2/5 stars. The staff did let us down and so did the product. I recommend that they management really should look at the presentation of all tables as having dust built up on our wine glasses was not a very nice experience. Especially from a restaurant which is more on the expensive end.

My wife and I attended tonight for her birthday. We were staying at the intercontinental and thought that this would be a great time to try out the Meat and wine co. We were not disappointed, the food was excellent. Derek our waiter was hands down the best waiter that we have ever encountered. He was super attentive and extremely friendly and made us feel very comfortable from the moment he took our order. This was topped off by him singing happy birthday as he bought out the dessert platter to my wife. Thank you Derek for making the night even more memorable for us!

A lovely cosy venue for lunch or dinner, with great food and wine. The food and service were both excellent. The partially subterranean restaurant has a cellar-like feel and has a nice fit out.

Handsdown the best burger I have ever tasted. And, I have had burgers in every corner of the world and there are so many great options across Australia, but just when you things things couldn’t get any better, I found this beautiful thing. The South African style pink sauce and onion rings just top off what is an amazing beef patty cooked to perfection. I travel to Sydney often for work and hope that the next time I’m in town the burger is just as consistently brilliant!

Phenomenal steakhouse with great ambiance, respectful service, and absolutely incredible food. While the steak shines brightly (choice between several types of cow, cut, and age), the side dishes do not disappoint. I will be returning here again for any excuse I can find.

We have 14 people in a group, as the restaurant requires we need to get a set menu. We have order a set B menu for $105 per person, the entree and the dessert was good, but the main we choose which you can choose fillet/ New Yorker steak. The steak was overcook and doesn’t not on the standard of marble 2+. We even order medium rare but the steak still come with medium well, and the steak was dry, hard and chewy, all of us still left a lot of the steak on the plate. Even though we still found a hair in our salad!!!! The waiters is good, the entree is good, the dessert is good. But if you wanted to have steak please do not come here, go to the Barangaroo side. We spend almost $1800 for this dinner, it really not worth on it!!!!

Fantastic food and service. The atmosphere was great and despite having others around our table felt private. The Wagyu Tartare was phenomenal and quickly polished off, my only complaint is it needs a few more of the yummy toasts! The steak was great and cooked as requested and the chips are crunchy as promised. The skewer was something of a novelty but the quality and flavour was excellent. I look forward to trying the other options sometime! Highly recommend for a celebratory dinner.

Very friendly staff. Superb ambience. Prompt service. The meat did not disappoint. Pork belly was great! Just wish I had more of it. Both beef and pork ribs were very good. Could be a little softer but thats personal preference. Will have to try the aged steak next as recommended. Will definitely be back! Highly recommend!

We walked in on a Saturday at 6pm, they offered us a table but blatantly said that its a bad table near the kitchen. Not that bad, but could feel the heat from kitchen. Waiters incredibly friendly during serving and clearing. Ordered the Wagyu Tartare (can be a hit or miss) and Pork Belly (which is surprisingly very good). The steak was alright. The place had amazing decor and vibes but the music was very ‘out of character?’ They played 500 miles 😂 Overall great experience!!

Located in the base of a hotel this is a cosy restaurant with some great steaks. I believe the Meat & Wine Co originated in Africa, so there’s a bit of an African theme to the interior too. It’s a good spot if you are looking to have a steak but expect to pay on the higher side for quality cuts of meats. Staff were friendly and by the looks of things bookings were essential.

Never coming back to this place as the wagyu was dry… the pork ribs, chips and garlic sauce was the best. Customer service was terrible took forever to find someone to order and the service was unprofessional and rude. The lychee mocktail was average needed more ice to be cold and mixed properly. The garlic bread was bad it wasnt even crispy.

Walk-in on a Tuesday night with no reservation at 6 pm. The place was crowded, but lucky we were able to get a table. The restaurant definitely had the atmosphere of being a high-end steakhouse. For drinks, my wife had the Strawberry Mash, and I had a Cab. For starters, we decided on the pork belly, but the waitress also suggested the Scallop Ceviche. As it turned out, the Ceviche was fantastic. As she had said, the ceviche was super fresh, and Melt in your mouth good. The pork belly was soft and sweet like it had Jack Daniel sauce. For the main course, my wife chose the 200g 120 days fed rib-eye while I ordered the bigger 150 days fed 300g rib-eye. The steaks were perfectly cooked, buttery soft, and stayed juicy throughout the meal. Surprisingly, the steaks also come with the choice of chips or salad, which saved us from ordering a main salad. We also ordered a very creamy and rich mash potatoes for a side. Unfortunately, sauces are extra. I ordered the blue cheese, and my wife had the mushroom sauce, which came in a bowl much bigger than I thought. The service was good. After a fantastic meal, the total came out to be $235 Aud, which I believe is well worth it.

Quality Ribs and a Chain? I recently visited the inner city restaurant of Meat & Wine that I can confidently say is one of the best chains I have ever visited. From the moment I walked in, the staff members were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and attentive. The restaurant had a cozy, upmarket and inviting feel that made me feel at home. Now, let's talk about the food. The star of the show here is undoubtedly the ribs. They were cooked to perfection with a smoky, tender flavor that melted in my mouth. The meat was falling off the bone, and the barbecue sauce had the right amount of sweetness and tanginess, making it the perfect complement to the savory ribs. Even though this is a chain restaurant, I was blown away by the quality of the food. The ingredients used were fresh, and the chefs definitely knew what they were doing in the kitchen. It was evident that they take great care in selecting the best cuts of meat and preparing them with care. Overall, I would rate this restaurant 5 stars without hesitation. The food was exceptional, and the staff made me feel like a valued customer. If you are a fan of ribs or steak, this is a must-visit place in downtown Sydney.

Spectacular food and atmosphere. The aged steak options are excellent, and cooked perfectly. I highly recommend the side dishes too, as there is absolutely no compromise on quality compared to the mains.

I think this was the best steak I've had. 500 gm Wagyu Rump Steak. It was perfectly cooked throughout. I normally ask for medium because all restaurants then make it medium rare as they don't want to overcook. But at Meat & Wine the whole steak was perfectly medium throughout. I wish the steak came with good portion of sides though.

I went once for lunch with friends, after looking for steakhouses in Sydney and the meat was amazing. Putting it simply: the steak literally filled me with happiness! The place is expensive... but not as much as other high tier steakhouses around. We went on a Sunday for lunch and the place was almost empty, so we really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. Cherry in the cake: while we came for the meat, the desserts were surprisingly excellent too!

Had our last family meal here before we return hime after an amazing holiday with our family who are staying behind ? . The food here was excellent as was the service. We had a party of 8 people and were dining in one of the private dining rooms where we had our own waitress looking after us. There is a huge selection of wines available to suit all of the many meats that are on offer. I had a full rack of ribs with a selection of sides between us all and I was starting to struggle towards the end but I finished them off. Meat fell off the bones and it was delicious. As you would expect the prices are higher than normal which is what you wiuld expect for this fine dining.Go on get down here and try it yourself

Nice atmosphere. Good service. Good Food. We tried the Let's lunch set menu. It has a good variety for selection. I tried beef and my partner tried pork. If I am to return, I would definetely go for Pork ribs. Both dessets on the menu were pretty good too.

We were gifted a red balloon experience of a 3 course dinner. It was so lovely. Staff and service was amazing. Food was delicious. The calamari was so nice, the pork ribs were fantastic. Finished off with a decadent dessert of creme brulee and chocolate fondue. So lovely. Would love to go again. Would be great for a small group of diners as well.

The steaks are nowehere near tender. Even the wagyu isn't properly cooked and chewy and hard to cut through. Would've hoped that since I'm paying nearly $90 for a piece of steak that I'd at least get a juicy tender medium rare piece of wagyu steak, but it was poorly seasoned, and really low quality meat. Utterly disappointed.

Very good food, top quality. I felt a bit under dressed being a tourist. I was wearing jeans and a t-shirt. However, I was still able to get a table. Had the lunch special, 2 courses for $45. Had wagyu bruschetta tartare, and waygu rump steak. Also came with a glass of wine. Don't think you can get a better deal anywhere for $45, considering the quality of the food.

Brilliant steak house, wide selection of meat cuts. With steak cooked to perfection. Mac n Cheese is a must side. Service was great, staff were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Only downside was the men’s toilets, absolutely disgusting and some of the clientele dress code of shorts and runners bought the restaurant down from being high end.
