On 9-10-2022 we stayed in room 129 at your Inn. The pictures you show are far from true reality of what you are going to get. The floor was so dirty that the bottom of my socks went from white to black. When I checked the bathroom the mirror still had the sale tag from Ross on it. The hand towel looked as if it was already used and we had two towels for three people. The shower was not not attached to the wall properly. If you did not check the temperature of the water you would have been scalded as cold was hot and hot was the cold. The sink was new but sat on what looked like an old desk with the drawers removed. The whole room did not have one trash can. There was a table and one chair. Now to the beds. There was a thin blue blanket and very, very. thin sheets with no mattress cover. The pillow size would have been great if we were kids. The refrigerator sat on the ground and the micro wave sat on top. There were no cups for cold or hot drinks. No Kleenex in either room. The corners of the baseboard had caked on dirt not dust. I am 81 years old and in my life time this was only the second time I stayed in such disgusting conditions. Do not believe their pictures. We would never stay here again. So please do not insult me by suggesting we stay again!!! For the price we had to pay there should be some sort of refund. For the room was not set up for three people!!! And we were charged for three people.

My wife and I rented a non-smoking room. We did not like the experience that we had with this room. The bed blankets were dirty and burned by cigarettes. We had to go to the ross store to buy blankets and sheets. The towels in the bathroom were stained and looked dirty. Thank god we had brought our own. Also one of the lamps was damaged and the other did not turn on. Don’t rent a room here.

**UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT** THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 2018/20 IS LIKE NIGHT AND DAY!! I would give 5 stars but there is still room for improvement and the improvements are still being done. The cleaning crew is slowly turning this place around. No people in the parking lot that were just hanging out, new linen, mattresses, towels, paint and completely remodeled bathrooms. There was Excellent Customer Service and amenities. Great job for responding to the reviews and making safety and health issues so important.

    1. Front door was loose and weather stripping non-existing. Sun light was beaming thru the bottom, top, and opening side. 2. Cigarette smell. Too afraid to expose my clean clothes in my luggage. Slept in my clothes that I walked into. Left smelling like I was in a smokey bar all night. While asleep or the lack there of, I could taste cigarettes if I breathed through my mouth. Next morning I rinsed my mouth out. The water tasted like cigarettes too. But I was mistaken, it tasted fine. My mouth was coated with cigarettes. I spat out yellowish brown color. 3. Lose faucet and scratchy towels. 4. Dirty floor. My foot was black like car tires. 5. Thin walls, my next door neighbor flushed their toilet...sounded like they were in the same room as me. 6. Curtains bled light thru. I didn't need to turn my lights on in the middle of the night to navigate around. 7. Bed sunk in the middle with thin sheets and comforter. 8. Night stand covered in dust. Room was dusty. 9. Front desk offered to move into another room. Too bad it smelled worst in there. 10. Had booked it for 2 nights. First night was around $100+, second night was around $200. Stayed the first night only. Front desk refund the first night ($100+)only.... Morally depressed that I didn't argue it.

Stayed here last night Don’t recommend if you want sleep. Had people walking next to my door and window all night long. Has to keep checking on my car to make sure it wasn’t getting broken into. Room was horrible. Smelled like cigarettes, thin sheets with burn holes, floor covered in dirt. Shower was broken, charge ports broken. Pool was closed for maintenance. When we arrived we were cat called and had people walk up to the car asking to be invited into our room. I have a service dog for ptsd and got no sleep. I would’ve felt safer sleeping in my car.

No shampoo or conditioner in the bathroom. The towels were either dirty or still wet… no trash bin in the room. Very small pillows. Would not recommend this place given the low value you get out of your money.

The rooms themselves aren't the best, but they're comfortable and relatively clean. The customer service is amazing, though. I had a problem with my room, and it was addressed immediately. I was moved to a different room and couldn't find any reason for complaints. I also liked how they brought in new toiletries after a couple of days. Update: I ended up getting bed bugs after coming back home which infested my bed that was thrown out and house bombed.

The outside is kind of dirty and there seems to be a lot of homeless people around. There were kids running around above us all morning and you can hear everything. Also, the planes take off early in the morning and can be heard right outside the window. On the bright side, the bathroom was nice and one of our beds was comfortable. I wouldn’t come back here, though. Overall, it was a place to sleep for the night and nothing special.

If I could give this hotel -0 I will, this is the most expensive hotel I’ve stayed at and totally not worth $240. I wouldn't even pay $100 for this place. Rooms were either cleaned with a super strong bleach odor or dirty. Our bathrooms didn’t have a trash can and no toilet paper was provided, only a used empty one. Thankfully we had our own toilet paper. Also the beds were super dirty and the bedding had holes everywhere. This place has no signal and their wifi doesn’t even allow you to connect. Also forgot to mention we were stuck inside and out of our room because the doors would not open and they got stuck! The worst hotel experience ever! Do not stay here!!

I felt compelled to leave this review. Looking online for a room to rent during Car Week was crazy. Astronomical numbers!!! After reading reviews of this place I had concern, but more importantly I had a budget. I rated this place a four because it's a 2 Star hotel (not a 5) and during a major event in our area I believe I got a deal compared to the prices online for other hotels. Check the pics. Furniture is out dated, but it was clean, basic and safe. More importantly it was affordable when I compared. If you're looking for a 3,4,5 Star hotel, this is not the place for you. The Fairgrounds is a solid 2 Star hotel.

Solid two stars. TV didn't work, internet is spotty, sketchy long term residents, door lock was hard to open. But the room was spacious, and they had done a semi serious effort to clean it. It was the cheapest option in town, and you get what you pay for.

I am going to put everything in points to be CLEAR: 1.- I explained to the "manager-receptionist" that I needed a room at the bottom because my mother could not climb stairs and she did the opposite, giving me the 2nd floor... 2 .- When changing rooms, the door does not work, the handle is all broken and the cards are sometimes recognized and sometimes not, the room was not clean in general EVERYTHING was dirty, even other people's underwear was under the bed, it smelled a lot of chlorine because the "cleaning" lady added a lot of chlorine and half mopped the floor with a SUPER DIRTY mop, and when I finished I took out an air freshener and to "mitigate" the smell of chlorine I added too much of the aroma spray. The facilities are terrible, super horrible, in poor condition and its staff is the same as the place, TERRIBLE! 3.- There is no place for you to hang your clothes, the sink and shower faucets are in poor condition and poorly installed. 4.- Disgusting walls and windows. 5.- The dirty sheets and the blankets are worse because they were even stained with who knows what. 6.- I claimed all this and more with the "manager-receptionist" and he promised me a 25% discount that "supposedly" I would receive by email advising that it was done; but it was all a lie. 7.- The toilet had drained urine and puddles behind and to the side of the bathtub. 8.- There is an atmosphere of insecurity in that place, since the handle of the door and the window are broken and it gives the impression that someone could enter the room to steal. 9.- In the Laundry area it looks like a junkyard and the parking lot has old cars full of things (garbage) and with flat tires. 10.- You meet people who take drugs because it even smells like marijuana and you find syringes outside in the parking lot. 11.- They charge as a 3 or 4 star hotel and it is a pigsty. 12.- I read the comments on different sites, and people tell about the terrible experience they had in that place. 13.- I had to carry all my valuables during my stay for fear that they would be stolen

This place is really not worth the amount you spend. The pool is closed (they said they couldn't get a permit, I suspect they did this to save money). The wifi is very spotty and often doesn't work, but in the case it does it is extremely slow. There is also no data at this location so you can't use your phone at all. The room is very smelly and feels quite dirty. They did get 2 stars because they tried to make the situation a bit better and refund part of our payment, but I would strongly advise you to pay a bit more and stay somewhere better.

DO NOT STAY HERE!! This is the absolute worst hotel in every way imaginable. I wish I could leave zero stars in every area!! When my wife and I arrived, the room was dusty and dirty, the beds were uncomfortable and sheets were dirty, and to top it all off- there was not even toilet paper in the bathroom! (As basic of an amenity as there could be…) When I walked through the poorly lit and unsafe-feeling parking lot to the front desk to ask for some, I received rude responses and horrible service from the man at the front desk- who appeared horribly inconvenienced by my request for having toilet paper for our room. Loud arguments were occurring in the parking lot in the middle of the night and it is clearly in a bad area of Monterey. We had planned to stay for 3 nights and left after 1 because the room was so horrible and it was such a bad experience. I’ve never been more disgusted with a hotel room, location, and a staff that absolutely doesn’t care about customer experience.

DO NOT stay at this hotel. It’s a complete dump. All the amenities are missing from the room. It doesn’t have the basics you’d expect from a hotel. Even the hangers were stolen from the room. Parking was not secured. Internet wasn’t working in the room.

Booking site: Hotwire. Family Friendly? Absolutely not. Location and room details: It's very unsanitary and you will not feel safe there. My room was very sad, it smelled of cigarettes and body odor. It was not prepared to basic standards such as a mopped floor. The staff appears to be methed out with the exception of the manager. There are vagrants on bikes cruising around, it seems very unsafe especially for a woman. My door handle was broken and they knew about it because I asked for a house keeper to mop the floor and she had trouble with it. When I asked for the floor to be mopped, The housekeeper literally poured bleach on it and dry mopped it. When I came back to the hotel, we were bleach bombed with fumes! I asked the manager to send someone to wipe it up and the woman they sent out called us particular! I will again say that this is NOT a family friendly hotel. This is a place for homeless people to take showers and stay short term. Take a look at the photos from reviewers, they capture the place accurately, not the website photos.

If you can stay at another place, DO IT. I booked for a 5 day stay and had my expensive items stolen out of my room on the fourth day there. The rooms are disgustingly dirty and the bathrooms smell horribly. The owners/managers of this place were disgustingly rude when I went to inform them my things were stolen from my room and did nothing to help me until the cops showed up. This hotel drags Monterey's prestigious image to the dirt and I wouldn’t want anyone to go through what I went through. Spend the extra 20 bucks and go elsewhere.

Me and my fiancé had booked a night at Economy Inn for 84 $. When we arrived, the owner told us that it was fully housed by Mexican migrant workers and we were referred to another Motel 4 minutes down the road. This is that place. When we got there, it was obvious that it was in a much shadier neighborhood, and there were airplanes flying low above all the time, since it was right off the runway of Monterey Airport. Worst of all though, the room had a bad stench of smoke and was utterly disgusting. It did not even have a trash can. Not only had we specifically paid for a non-smoking room, we had also booked with breakfast included, which, we were informed, there was none. Also no response in our request to get a refund. So this place is a total scam. Whatever you do, do NOT stay here.

When I made the reservation I wanted a non smoking room. It smelled like cigarettes there was a burn mark on one of the bed covers. The extra blanket smelled as well. The white towels were more yellowish then white. Bathroom and floors were dirty. There was a homeless man at 2 am looking in the trash. One of the beds had a dip in the middle and made so much noise. Pool was closed probably because it was so dirty just like all around the hotel. Trash everywhere. Will not be staying here again or recommend anyone to stay. Didn’t feel safe all night.

Edit : we did not stay at this place, it was TOO DIRTY. Towels on the grounds (def not washed), toilet not clean… etc. I don’t want the deposit back I want the full reservation price because I signed a paper stating refund was on its way and as I said, still NOTHING! Said they’d issued a refund when all the rooms they presented us were filthy dirty. 2 weeks later nothing but don’t worry this won’t end here :) don’t stay there they are liars - nothing that comes out of their mouth is true!

We were in a “non-smoking” room yet it still smelled heavily of cigarettes. The blanket was paper thin with cigarette burns in it. The bathroom door didn’t close fully. Walls were so thin it felt like our neighbors were in our room. Would not recommend…
