2.5 stars is BEYOND generous for this place. We didn’t get the room we payed for, for starters and the room we did get had to be pried open with a knife for entry. The room itself was atrocious. The box spring has blood stains on it as well as blood stains (?) in the bathroom. The comforter had holes in it and for heavens sake bring your own bedding if you have to suffer staying here. There was a bar of soap left in the bathtub with hair in there as well. The electrical sockets were all exposed and the mirror for the bathroom was not attached. Upon leaving the person that checked us out was holding a beer bottle and the room smelled of weed at 9 in the morning. For the love of all things holy do not stay here!!

We had reservations only to be turned away. We had attended a event thinking we had a nice place to stay, but the hotel overbooked. We were stranded out in the in the middle of the night with nowhere to go. Spent the night on the road trying to not get in trouble. Sal, the manager gave us his word that our arrangements were solid. He led us to believe we were in good hands. This place is terrible and unsafe. We were lucky to made it out of this situation safely. No thanks to this establishment.

Worst place ever, I'm surprised the door locks. Was dirty and had to listen to the managers yell, cursing and threatening people late at night. Ok called and was told $89 a night. Got there and it was $89 + 12% tax . The mattress and box spring covered with plastic, every time you move you could hear the plastic. Never again!!. Motel 6 is just down the road and is quiet, clean, and cheaper

The rooms didn't have towels. There is no place to hang clothes. The air worked great. The shower leaked all over the place

Me and my fiancé had booked a night here for 84 $. When we arrived, the owner told us that it was fully housed by Mexican migrant workers and we were referred to another Motel 4 minutes down the road. When we got there, it was obvious that it was in a much shadier neighborhood, and there were airplanes flying low above all the time, since it was right off the runway of Monterey Airport. Worst of all though, the room had a bad stench of smoke and was utterly disgusting. It did not even have a trash can. Not only had we specifically paid for a non-smoking room, we had also booked with breakfast included, which, we were informed, there was none. Also no response in our request to get a refund. So this place is a total scam. Whatever you do, do NOT stay here.

Stay away!!! Owner/ manager is arrogant and condescending. The facility is dirty, I arrived at the hotel around 6pm, before i parked my car I was already concerned about my safely due to a guest on the balcony smoking and plotting to a homeless on a bike downstairs. I drove away to put gas and went back to check in, the parking lot was filthy and Again same guest still outside his room with door open and smoking within a few feet from rooms (this is a non smoking facility). I did feel safe getting out so I called the front desk, a lady answered me, she apologized and instructed me to call my booker for a full refund. When I called my booker (Priceline) the customer service agent reached out to hotel to confirm the refund, the owner/manager refused to approve my refund. By then I had already left town and was on freeway. I called the owner/manager Sal I believe was his name; he didn’t care about what I had to say, he pretty much told me No refunds! there’s homeless people all over town and hung up on me. My advice to anyone planning to stay here- don’t do it. If an issue arises you will have to deal with it since there no care whatsoever from owner/ GM

Absolutely , without a doubt, my 5 night stay was so enjoyable due to new management/owners. The gentleman at front desk, Shiv, was so kind, considerate, professional and respectful. The maid was also so kind and helpful. This place has done a 360° turn for the better! I would highly recommend to family and friends. The rates were exactly what I was quoted over the phone. They have the best and lowest rates for the Monterey Peninsula. Everything u need on your vacation is in walking distance.

Management and staff are amazing. We had some issues with our online booking and they were super accommodating! The room is clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay again next time we're in town.

They do not have any breakfast and if you ask about it they act like you’re crazy for thinking that what was put in their website was accurate. There were no towels in the hotel room at all and when I asked for some for me and my husband, they gave me one single towel for a 4 day stay. I had to ask for more and was then given only 1 more. There was a 75% used toilet paper roll in the room with no refills available. Had to ask for that too and was treated like a complete nuisance for asking for the bare necessities of a motel. I wasn’t expecting much from the economy inn but towels and toilet paper were pretty much all I was hoping for and they couldn’t even get that right. Also the parking is absolutely horrendous and good luck parking if you have larger than a sedan.

The staff was friendly and it's close to the highway, but unfortunately those are the only perks. The parking lot is neigh non existent and the rooms are dirty and ill maintained. The front of the heating unit fell off not 10 minutes into my stay, the bed was rock hard with burn holes in the blankets, and all the furniture was in differing states of disrepair. I'd avoid it if you could.

Do not stay at this hotel! I paid $524 for two nights during peak season. When I checked in there was no toilet paper in the room, only two of the seven lightbulbs worked, the place smelled disgusting, and worst of all my key card didn’t work to the point I had to go to the front desk eight times during my visit. It took, the owner calling a company to reinstall the lock, which took 1.5 hours while my door was open the entire time. At the end when I asked for a discount I was told “I will ask the manager “. After ringing the bell, for check out, nobody ever came out. Of course these people did not even give me a discount. Probably the worst hotel I have stayed in for 40 years.

You are right in the middle of everything cool about Monterey. I'm a light sleeper and I slept great. Professional staff no problems. Clean tub, good WiFi. I will stay here again.

Economy Inn Monterey Bay provides decent accommodation at an affordable price. The rooms are clean and comfortable, offering all the basic amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The staff is friendly and helpful, ensuring a smooth check-in process. However, the hotel's facilities might be a bit limited compared to higher-end options, and the decor might appear slightly dated. Overall, if you are looking for a budget-friendly option in Monterey Bay, Economy Inn can be a satisfactory choice for a short stay.

i was willing to give it a try after hearing it was under new management. the new owners have ALOT on their plate but from what ive seen , they are on it ! slowly but surely they are making it better . the location is great! as its close to freeways , walgreens ,fast foods, banks, grocery stores , and the beach! Excellent budget accommodations. The room was clean and appliances (AC, TV, refrigerator, microwave,) were in good working order. New management guy at front desk was very friendly, helpful and polite. i give it a 5/5!

The worst hotel I've ever seen! The room wasn't cleaned when I checked in. When I finally got the room the room was disgusting. I've stayed in better hotels in Mexico. There were cigarette burns on the sheets. The locks on the door were broken ! There wasn't a smoke detector. The room was still dirty. There were holes and patches everywhere. There were boot marks on the door. The room smelled liked cigarettes. IT'S A TRAP HOUSE HOTEL !! It's the kind of hotel where people go to smoke, crack and use drugs. The manager would not give us a refund. DO NOT STAY HERE !!!!!!

It'll do the trick. Everything in this area is really expensive so this was basically the cheapest option. The room was pretty worn down but we brought sheets and a blanket to use. There was also surprisingly a mini fridge, TV, and a microwave.
