This is a beautiful, well maintained monument to history. This building is very well persevered along with a lot of elements from its past days. You can see into various rooms and learn about the lifestyles of the then-elite (while acknowledging the role it played to Mexican history. The view from the top is great, but get ready to walk a bit! I went on a Friday and there was an impressive queue already there, but thankfully, it moved rather quickly.

This place is amazing!! Only costs $80 pesos to get in. Make sure you eat before you go here because they don’t allow food. Also make sure you wear comfortable shoes because there is a uphill path that’s about .6 mile long 🥵. Overall a phenomenal place to visit.

A really nice castle filled with history. It is a stunning piece of architecture on the top of a hill. It is a nice walk to the top and the views that you get from there are some of the best that you can get. The inside of the castle is filled with a really interesting museum into the national history of Mexico. There are stunning items of history inside and it is well worth exploring the castle and the grounds it is on.

Loved my visit to the castle, and gardens. It’s fabulous! I visited the palace of Versailles in Paris and was let down by how little of the palace was available for tourists. This Castillo by contrast is completely opened up and offers not just a view into royal life in Mexico, but also a terrific collection of historical art, and a great summary overview of Mexican history following the Conquistadores. If you’re a Canadian like me you probably didn’t learn any of this is school and I suspect you’ll be very interested in digging i to this topic more deeply. Tickets were reasonably priced IMO and great value. The walk up the hill is not too difficult though it is made worse by the masking requirement (seriously… they want you to mask up outside which seems insane to me, but what can you do). Just take a few breaks along the way if you need to. There are some great views of the park along your way up. Remember to come at least 90 minutes before closing (last entry is 430) or you won’t even scratch the surface. Not all of the objects provide descriptions in English. Many are Spanish only but it didn’t take away from the experience for me. The day we went we were only allowed to pay cash which was odd. Hopefully a one-off issue with the WIFI I highly recommend this attraction. Attached to this review are some of my highlights

Loved this castle!!! The views are incredible and all rooms made to enjoy it. It is beautifully maintained. Many rooms well preserved. The terraces are stunning and gardens lovely. The walk up is some effort but there is a handicap entrance for those need it. The parks surrounding below the castle is wide and expansive. Entry is dirt cheap at 85 pesos. Take cash they ask for exact change

Worth visiting if it’s your first time in CDMX. This may be a tourist hot spot the place is well-maintained and orderly. The artworks are well-curated and organized such that the historical narrative is told well. Not all displays have English translations though. You may have to scan the QR code to do so. Lovely place overall. P.S. if you have large bags or food, pay for the locker at the ticket counter for 10 pesos. Lockers are by the entrance and are guarded well.

A genuine castle on a hill with real history. Fun fact: when the USA won the war, they briefly occupied the castle. Unfortunately if that piques your curiosity, you won’t find any information in the Mexican museum. You can access the main castle body on the back of the area, through the horse carriage stable/garage. Seeing the opulence makes your imagination spin for what things must have been like for the well connected in the 19th century. Worth a visit!

I would say it was a nice building, the signs had some interesting history and the pieces of the house you could see were nice. Really crowded, worth the price but wasn’t a 5/5. With the time I had I would put that towards the lower half of my need to see in CDMX list. But, don’t get me wrong. Strong and quick trip. You do walk up about 1/4 of a mile of path then a few stairs to get there, I charged through and saw everything I wanted to in 45 min.

Came here on a Thursday at 9, which is when it opens because we wanted to avoid the crowds, and it worked - except for one school trip but we only ran into them once at the beginning. Tickets are sold down at the hill (the castle is on top of the hill so it is a bit of a trek) but there are not really any signs as to where to purchase the tickets. We only knew because shortly after we started up the hill, a kind soul told us that we need to purchase the tickets in the little house first because if you get up there and you don't have a ticket, they'll send you right back down. For the tickets, you have to pay cash and they want you to pay in exact change. We didn't have exact change (I mean who does, nowadays?) so we had to pay with a bigger bill and we realized that she shorted us our change. And she knew exactly what she was doing because as soon as we went back to the window, she immediately gave us the correct amount. You also can't bring water and they make you spill it out once you get to the top. Other than that, the castle is very beautiful and there are lots of details. You can look at each room behind ropes and each room has an information plaque telling you what the room was used for. Overall, it took us about an hour to walk through everthing, once we were up there. It also looked like they were setting up for some kind of event here. A wedding here would be beautiful (though probably very expensive). Definitely worth a visit. Just remember to go early, buy tickets, and count your change!

A beautiful castle in the heart of Mexico City. Be prepared to walk a lot! Buy your ticket at the building at the very bottom of the hill (before security). Tickets currently cost 90 pesos a person, which is a great deal. The walk up the hill to the castle is quite the trek and not for the out of shape. Once you get to the top, there’s a number of spots where you can check out the views of the city and parks below. Beautiful rooms to peek into, and some signs are also in English which was great. There are some elevators in the castle so people who can’t do the stairs can see the second floor. Worth a visit! Expect to spend around a hour here. Great spot for solo travelers!

Beautiful castle, the tickets were $90MXN per person, you can pay cash or card. Need a little bit walk to the entrance but you’ll get there. You can visit most of the rooms and look the view from the top, that’s where you can see the city too. We were lucky enough to watch some live shows. Great experience, highly recommend

This was my second visit to Chapultepec Castle. We walked over from our nearby hotel. It is a steep walk up towards the castle which can be challenging for some, so keep in mind to bring good shoes and might need to make some stops for children and elderly people. We payed 190 pesos which translates to $11.08 / €10.20. This place has a great view of some parts of the city, has a nice water fountain, and a lovely garden. You might also be intrigued with some of the rich history that is displayed. I loved how rustic and photogenic this location is; it’s great for individual and family pictures. It’s important to note that this place is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Enjoy your visit!

The castle is beautiful. It definitely needs around 2 hours to explore it properly. The ticket is 80 pesos. Food and water are not allowed inside the castle. Be prepared to walk and wear comfortable shoes. All descriptions in majority of the castle are written in Spanish. It would be helpful if English translation is also provided for tourists.

Oh, let me tell you about Chapultepec! It's such a fantastic place to visit, whether you're with family, friends, or even on your own. 🌳🏰 The park is filled with history and so many spots that make for picture-perfect moments. 📸 From the charming pathways to the majestic Castillo de Chapultepec, you'll feel like you're stepping into a storybook. The best part is that you can explore the whole place in about an hour of leisurely walking. And trust me, the view is absolutely breathtaking! 🌞🌇 The sights from the top are simply stunning and make the trip even more memorable. Whether you're interested in the history, looking for a beautiful backdrop for photos, or simply want to enjoy some quality time outdoors, Chapultepec has got you covered. So, gather your loved ones or set out on a solo adventure, and make sure to include Chapultepec on your must-visit list. You won't be disappointed! 🌿📸

Bigger than you think it will be, so plan accordingly. The castle combined with the park could have been an entire day of our trip if we let it. There are so many things to see in the park including boating activities and street food and crafts, but the castle was even more impressive. We were there for at least 3 hours looking at everything and learning about a fascinating part of Mexico City history. The place can get crowded and there were several school trips when we were there on a Tuesday, but the grounds are so large, that you only felt cramped a few times.

It is a castle on the hill of a park full of greenery. It seems that the free days of the Mexican people are crowded and difficult. Water, eating and drinking are prohibited. There is uphill is a little hard, but the furniture in the castle there is a worth watching wonderfully once. Hill of view is good but the feeling was good. A castle with a European atmosphere that is not surprisingly Mexican And there were many furnishings.

LOVED this place! What a beautiful gem, $4 entrance fee , there are lockers where you can leave your bags and extra things so you can go up and enjoy your time without carrying stuff ( 10 pesos , get a token at the lady where you buy the tickets ) BEAUTIFUL castle, we enjoyed every part of it. Lots of great art, history and garden. We will be coming back again and again!! 9:00-17:00

I spent a day visiting Chapultepec Castle and it was still not enough! A castle of pre- independent origin, it harbours a lot of Spanish architecture. It is extremely famous for being the harbour of Viceroy Bernado de Galvez of Spanish rule. While the architecture is stunning in its own, there are memoirs of the life of the rulers, beautiful gardens and art still maintained. The castle and it's collections are open for visitors to see and capture.

Beautiful castle and surrounds- make sure you bring cash for the ticket, they didn’t accept credit card when I visited. The main section of the castle does not have English translation but is still worth exploring, while the living quarters has excellent translations outlining the history over the past 300 years or so. Overall very well curated and maintained museum!

A real place of historic significance. The only Royal residence in all of the Americans. A home fit for the imperial family of Mexico. The State coaches are on exhibition, the state rooms still furnished in all their splendor. A must see when visiting Mexico City.

HYDRATE BEFORE! It’s about a 10-15 minute walk up and down the road to the castle and there is no where to get water once you leave start going up the path. The water fountains at the castle do not work, and they make you dump out liquids prior to entering. So you’ll have to wait till you get down the road before drinking anything else. The castle and the landscaping are incredible. The views of the city are spectacular. This is a must do in Mexico City. There are basically two separate paths of the castle. I recommend walking all the way to the end of the square and starting on that far stair case and once you finish that half of the building come back and enter the main front entrance. If you are limited on time just go to the far staircase/entrance. Pros: Amazing views, beautiful landscaping, great historical information/exhibits Cons: Nowhere to get anything to drink, most of the exhibits only have information describing pieces in Spanish, decent walk up and down, the layout (path of how your get around the castle) is confusing.

85 pesos worth the walk up it's an amazing place with great views of the city. It's massive and it does get crowded during the weekend. I would recommend going during the week. You are not allowed to bring food and drinks inside but there are plenty of places to grab food and snacks outside the castle into the park area.

Try to avoid going on a Sunday as that day Mexicans can go in for free so the place gets a bit packed. The building is gorgeous and has some great views of the park and city. The collection is interesting but it's missing explanation on what you are looking at (both in Spanish and English). There are some amazing murals but again no explanation at all. The rooms do not seem to be in chronological order.

A beautiful estate nestled over 2000 meters above sea level. It offers a breathtaking 360 views of Mexico City and the surrounding Chapultepec park. This is a definite must see not only for the views of Mexico City but to also appreciate the architecture and beautiful grounds of the Castle. From the garden on the first floor by the entrance to the second floor garden, the vibrant stained glass windows, the beautiful paintings, and learning about the history of Mexico City, this place has it all! It is a bit of a hike from the ticket office to the castle so make sure to wear comfortable shoes, breathable clothes and pack some cold water!

Didn't visit on previous trips due to the lines. But this time went on a Tuesday at opening (9am) and we're the first up the hill. The exhibits are beautiful and interesting, and the views and setting are amazing. Spent some time just sitting on a bench soaking it all in. Some inconsistencies with security (guard at bottom was friendly and told us water in bottles was ok to bring in, guard at top confiscated it 5 minutes later) but that seems par for the course. Appreciated the historical information and context. Well constructed exhibits and beautiful artifacts.

Incredible art collection and it is impeccably clean and well maintained. Note that stabilizers are not permitted and you will be required to check them at the gate. Don't forget a student card if you have one for a significant discount. The walk up takes about half an hour and there isn't much to see on the way but you get a great view of Mexico city from the castle and can easily spend half a day seeing the exhibits and grounds.

Situated in the middle of one of the largest parks in the Western Hemisphere, Chapultepec Castle is impressive. To start with, explore the castle to see incredible works of art. Next, look at the terraces for amazing views of the city and the park below. Lastly, wander the park to check out the many lakes and lush greenery. One of my favorite spot in Mexico!

This is a must-see museum in Mexico City! Beautiful architecture with historic artifacts and paintings by some of Mexico's most acclaimed painters and muralists. From the upper level of the building, the view of Paseo de la Reforma provides quite a juxtaposition between Mexico's past (as represented by this building) and today's modern Mexico, as embodied by the tall buildings in Paseo de la Reforma.

Very nice inside. 90Mexican$ adult entrance fee. Senior and children are free. If you have a bag with water and foods it is not allowed inside you have to pay a 10Mexican$ for the locker. You will pay and get the coins where you pay the entrance fee. Do it 1st in the morning because later in the day there are more crowds are coming. They have a clean restroom here.

This is one of my favorite places to visit in Mexico City. The castle was once the residence of Emperor Maximilian and Empress Carlota in 1864, and then the official residence of Mexico’s presidents until 1939 when it became the National Museum of History. It has an abundance of historical objects, paintings, murals, and even a breathtaking hallway with stained glass windows. Besides learning about Mexican history, you can appreciate the castle’s stunning architecture. Plus, the terrace offers one of the best views of the city. To reach the castle, follow the road that curves up the hill behind the Monument to the Child Heroes. It is a bit of a walk, so I’d suggest wearing appropriate footwear.

Great views, may be a guided tour works best to have a route inside the place as it is big and there is a lost of information and history that might be better digested if someone is explaining it in a certain order. I went on a regular Saturday and there were 2 people in line before me. Try to be early around 9 or 10 am it got crowded afterwards. There castle is between 2 to 3 hours + depending on your own approach. Remember there is a Zoo and the forest to walk through if you like.

Great museum, architecture, and views of the city above a literal forest. I came on a Saturday and while there were many people, it didn’t feel way too crowded. Loved taking pictures and learning about the history of the site and of the city. NOTE: Sundays are free entrance for Mexican nationals, so I’d suggest visiting on a Saturday or during the week, to avoid massive crowds.

The castle itself, interior, exterior and views were stunning! But don't expect to learn any national history if you don't speak Spanish - all information is only in Spanish. Loved it. The way up can be a bit steep, especially if you have trouble walking. I would inquire about elevator services before venturing up. The place is a historical dream, lots of open spaces, a fantastic view of the city. Google translate might be your best bet because they don't have many translated materials, but some of the descriptions are in English. You can't take food, water or gum into the museum, but they have lockers at the base for 10 pesos. But your ticket at the ticket booth! *Use the Reforma entrance, it's really close to the castle.

It’s a little physical demanding but there are benches for a short break if you are not good with hiking. There are lockers right after the ticketing so you don’t have to hike with your heavy bags.

Such a beautiful castle with fine rooms for the emperors. Amazing 360 degree lookout point of the city. Well kept furniture and rich of history. We tried to come here 3 times and even though they said they close at 5 pm, they close once they reach the entry quota. About 2.30 pm we saw they closed the ticket because they have reach the quota. Better get early!

It’s a well preserved castle with so many beautiful details. I loved the colours the architecture and the huge painted glas windows. When I visited the building it was little rainy but still breathtaking. So I can imagine how spectacular can be with sunshine revealing the pretty corners. Maybe next time. How to get there? There are some options to the gate of the garden/park. - Uber - city tour bus - regular bus Enjoy the walk 🙂

We almost didn’t go and could not be more glad that we did! This was one of my favourite historic sights in MX city! The castle has been exquisitely kept, and the grounds are so beautifully maintained. It was much larger than expected, so plan for about two hours. There is not food or drink available when you get up, so think about bringing water as the walk uphill in the heat does get to you

I believe the price as 85mxn per person. We arrived early on a Saturday and had no idea what to expect -- it was totally worth the price!! The line moved pretty quickly and we spent a total of 2 hours inside! The walk up to the castle itself is totally worth the price as well as the garden at the end of the tour is a lovely place to rest.

You can't miss a visit to this castle. The architecture and views are stunning. I also loved the museum succinctly detailing Mexico's main historical periods. I kind of knew how the US acquired California, Texas and the American SW from Mexico but was newly ashamed to learn the Mexican perspective of its budding imperialistic neighbor robbing a struggling new nation of half its territory.

Gorgeous views, stunning period art, handsome suites, and manicured gardens. If you are a student or a teacher remember to bring jour credentials along for free entry. Also, the best time to visit on a Sunday is by 10am (before the deafening crowds ascend on the castle).

This is one of the most beautiful places on earth! The Castle, which were the residence of Kaiser Maximilian. Bare in mind, that there are in fact 2 museums there. One tells you about Mexico and the way to independence (with a lot of Murals in the stile of Diego Rivera) and the wounderful part with the original enterieure of the Emperor. If you are handicapt or not to good by walking (and only than), tell them, when you buy your Tickets. There is a hidden Elevator! Don't miss this jewel. You are also granted with a beautiful view over the city.

If you visit Mexico City this is a must see. This time I brought my 5 year old daughter and she was amazed with the castle and all of the museum contents. A lot of history here, this was the home of Maximilian and Carlota, then a militar academy, then the presidential house until 1930s. Also the woods surrounding the castle are so beautiful to walk on. You can easily spend 2+ hours just walking and admiring all the items in the museum and the castle. Entrance is free for kids under 13 and elders above 60. Enjoy

Chapultepec Castle is an extraordinary blend of history, culture, and breathtaking views, making it a must-visit destination in Mexico City. The castle beautifully captures pivotal moments in Mexico’s past, offering visitors a unique chance to step back in time. Each room in the castle is a testament to a different era, and the stunning murals provide a vivid, visual narrative of the country’s rich history. The castle grounds and gardens are meticulously maintained, adding to the overall grandeur and beauty of the place. The panoramic views of Mexico City from the castle are nothing short of spectacular, giving visitors a unique perspective of the sprawling cityscape. The staff at the castle are both friendly and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall experience with their insight and expertise. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or simply someone looking for a memorable experience, Chapultepec Castle is a must-visit when in Mexico City.

This castle is a must see if you are visiting CDMX. It’s on a hill, so be prepared for an uphill hike. It it has gorgeous views on the city. The castle itself is very interesting with good insight into Mexican history. Give yourself plenty of time for a visit so you can see the castle, the expositions inside it and the garden.

Wow, such an amazing sight. Glad we did not leave cdmx without visiting this castle at the request of a local. Amazingly beautiful inside and out. The rooms were split into different eras. It really is an extraordinary place to visit. Surprisingly kid friendly as long as your children listen and understand no touching. Both my children enjoyed peeking into the rooms at the top floor. Absolutely do not miss visiting Chapultepec Castle. Be aware you cannot bring any food or drinks inside the castle. Many vendors are right outside and we made the mistake of buying a huge water just to waste half of it right before walking in.

The castle is beautiful, and the exhibits are very interesting. It's worth a visit. I just got upset that the staff told me to empty my bottle of water and throw away the crackers that I was carrying for later. The rules are unbelievably strict: they will search your bag and will not allow you to carry water in closed bottles or food even if it is in a sealed package inside your bag, and promise (cross my heart) that you won't drink or eat inside. That's just nonsense nowadays when there is a concern about the scarcity of drinking water and food. And a lack of intelligence also because they could easily store it for you and give it back in the way out (but why bother?).

There is a line on weekends to buy tickets, but moves relatively fast. Only the person buying the tickets need to be in line; while the rest of your party can explore the outdoor market of park. There’s a long walk up to the castle but it is not steep and there were many grandparents making the trip. The castle has many rooms you can look into and most of the plaques providing information are in English and Spanish. There are restrooms, difficult to find, upstairs and towards the back right hand side of the castle. The views are unique and worth the trip.

Great place so you do not miss it on your agenda or weekend so you can enjoy it if you are from Mexico City. What I recommend is that you do not stay at the close of the place, the police of the place are nefarious to coordinate the departures, they have no consideration of national and international tourism, it seems to me that the director of this property has much to do with these characters. Well above the city buildings is a spectacular view of Mexico City, Mexico. Most of the items are from the original pieces dating fat back as the early 1700s. These pics I found to be breath taking in wonder how so many earthquakes and the magnitudes could this still be standing today. These pics were constructed in pure marble blocks dating in the early 1400s to 1500s. The carriages were dated and used in the 1800s to the 1900s.

It's a great place to experience the history of Mexico through the lens of the castle. The place is well kept and has many rooms preserved (esp the Maximilian bedroom with the brass bedframe). Not all the signs are English and the maps don't do a good job of explaining where to "start" and where we were at the time. The actual castle part is at the back with the longer portion where you ever is mainly historic exhibits. But overall I would still recommend it - definitely has a rich collection of neat historical objects.

Beautiful castle on the hills of the park Chapultepec. Nice views of the city. The inside of the castle hosts a museum which takes you through Mexico’s history. Too bad it closes early (5pm) it would be nice to watch the sunset from there.

"A jewel of history worth a thousand visits" This Castillo is located right on top of a hill at the "Bosque de Chapultepec" . It has a perfect 360 view of the city of Mexico, while been there, you will be amazed by the beautifully preserved furniture and Tiffany windows this castle has. We enjoyed the walk through step by step, corridor by corridor, floor to floor from the entrance gate all the way up the hill. Your imagination will fly back on time hundreds of year to the era in which Mexican emperor Maximilian I married Empress Carlota. It was known as Castillo de Miravalles. He was on his fifties while she was 17 years old. The castle has a couple of carriages and several paintings which are beautifully preserved. I was really thrilled to see the decorations and furniture of each room. The gardens both external and internal are also jewels by themselves. If you ever visit Mexico City and don't know how to get there, I strongly recommend you to take a ride on the touribus. It will take you to 4 different circuits, we took the red one which has the best stops, I guess they were around 19 and one of them is the Bosque de Chapultepec and Castillo de Chapultepec. Senior citizens to not pay the entrance fee as well as students and teachers.

Excellent place full of history with very impressive views of the city. When you are in Mexico City you have to go visit the Castillo de Chapultepec you won’t be disappointed. Be prepared to want up the street to the castle which is about a 10 minute walk. Once there you will be able to see the inside of the castle where the museum is containing everything from arms to carriages that were used by Mexican government officials. Check the calendar of special events held at the castle. Sometimes they have shows of dances performed on the gardens.

Some amazing art, views and history. This place is a must stop. You are taken back to times that were much simpler, But of excess from the rich.Beautiful castle in the heart of Chapultepec Park. This is a walking tour (self guided). But you can Buy a guide for your own private tour. Vendors are all along the ground just before you climb to the top. No Water or snacks are allowed on the grounds , so hydration is what you'll need. 2 to 3 hours is what it will take to walk around. maybe more if you enjoy old Spanish art and culture.

A must do in Mexico City! Buy tickets at the bottom and walk the hill up. They don’t let you bring in water, so make sure you drink it all or leave it behind. Back packs ok. The castle and al the things inside is beautiful. Good Spanish history. There’s also a good view in the back of the city and La Reforma. It wasn’t packed when we came so we were able to see everything. On packed days, there’s a lot of people.

I didn’t think this was going to be much to look at but I was wrong. First you go to the museum of the Mexican history from start to cue the and the 200th anniversary. You then proceed to the presidential Palace which blew me away how beautiful..but not over the top like Versailles in France.

Fantastic castle is rich in culture and history. Access is directly off Paseo de la Reforma; all the personnel and security are very organized with some vendors on the outskirts on the entrance to the castle. All children under 12 enter free. The castle itself is phenomenal and overlooks México City from all directions. Truly recommended.

  • 5/5 Joon P. 2 years ago on Google
An interesting and prolific history of Mexico can be learned from here. Wish there were more English descriptions but it was still good and understandable. The gardens are beautiful. Looking down the skyscrapers with a great city view can be refreshing.

  • 5/5 Topher T. 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful building and museum. For disabled individuals and wheelchair users, there is an elevator that takes you up to the museum from the entrance near the bottom of the hill. There is a separate elevator in the museum that takes you up to the second floor. We only saw part of the second floor, so unsure if there's a way to access the other half other than by taking a flight of stairs.

  • 1/5 David M. 2 years ago on Google
I took a guide because the descriptions were in Spanish and we almost methodically only visited the rooms with English descriptions. He kept pointing at this and saying "we preserve this and that, amazing, wow" Absolutely zero content. 550 pesos that would have better spent if thrown in the wind. Avoid the guides like covid!

We went to the night time event held at this castle that was about Mexican culture, heritage, music, dance, art, and their relationship w religion. Mexico is a beautiful country and we felt privileged to have been able to witness this production of over 50 consisting of dancers, singers, musicians to so many performances that lasted about 2 hours. There were so many different costume changes. Representing the many different tribes’ lineages of Mexican heritage. There are bus services to get you up to the castle. Highly recommended.

It is a good place to visit if you like amazing views of the city. You have to walk uphill about 10 minutes to enter the castle and once inside it you'll find it to be very much like any good museum with lots of exhibits and displays. It's a great place to learn Mexican history. I recommend you wear comfortable shoes, otherwise you'll miss on the experience by being tired all the time. Take your camera with you as there are many good spots for a photo session.

A historic place here in Mexico City that represents a glimpse into many aspects of México's history. The views are great and the gardens are beautiful. You can't take drinks or food into the castle, but there are lockers at the entrance where you can store your food and other belongings. I wish they had more activities to engage kids in a nice way to excite them about the history of Mexico. Also, it would be great to have the descriptions in English as well.

The museum is full of historical articles, so clean, organized, friendly stuff. They have private tours too. You have to wear the mask all the time while inside and no liquids or food.

Awesome place with a lot of history. A lot of weaponry and battleships and aeroplanes used during the war. One of the best museums I've been in the world. It was free when we entered in the weekend but it costs about 800 peso in the weekdays. Well worth it, in my opinion. You can also go out to the terrace, from which you can see the entire forest as well as some of the city with the besutiful skyscraper. The surrounding park is also amazing to walk once you're finished with the castle!

What an amazing journey through history. If you are planning a trip here, be sure and get here early otherwise you'll be stuck in a long line. There is a hike up to the top, so wear comfy shoes. At this time, a mask is still required (11/2/2022). The views are amazing, the artifacts are incredible, and overall experience will leave you more knowledgeable and appreciative of Mexican culture!

Chapultepec Castle is a wonderful excursion that will give you scenic, historical education and a nice hiking scroll. I was engrossed to know more about Austria’s influence on this castle by Maximilian and the inheritance / design influence of this castle by European standards. What blew me away is the elevators installed into this place during the 1800s, hydraulic and electric. Back then, you will have needed serious El Nero to achieve such feats. The national historical museum was very interesting too. A nice garden which you can relax and enjoy epic views. This castle is very disabled friendly. In fact, there’s a dedicated elevator for wheelchair users. There are also self-serving machines to get your tickets. Which beats the long queues that start to build up more past midday. So, I’ll advise to come as early as possible. No liquids are permitted upon entry. So it’s either drink all you can or dispose.

Full of history and amazing artifacts. A must go see place. Price to enter is about $5 USD. There is a 10-15 minute walk from the street to the inside of the Castle. Plenty to see so bring your walking shoes.

This was a pleasant surprise - in addition to being a terrific building from a historical and architectural perspective there is an excellent overview of Mexican history - from Spanish contact onward. I think knowing some Mexican history will help you enjoy the museum portion more and I'd suggest finding an online guide to help you along although there is a reasonable amount of English throughout. I would definitely visit this important site if I was visiting CDMX.

Amazing exhibits and view of the park. I would suggest getting there early to beat the crowds. We were there right when they open at 9 AM on a Saturday and there wasn’t too many people there yet. It’s quite a steep walk to the top so dress comfortably and wear walking shoes.

From the elegant decor & elaborate rooftop garden to the MXC skyline view, this place is an absolute must go if you are anywhere in the vicinity. Be prepared for a long, steep hike to the castle entrance. But definitely worth trudging up a steep incline for 20 minutes. The walk is partly shaded and beautiful. The price is very affordable and honestly low considering what a unique piece of history this is. I believe we paid about ~200 pesos to get in.

A must do in México City! Just be prepare to walk up hill! It may seem that the castle isn’t high up but it is, especially if you come from a place that has a lower elevation than Mexico City. When you are up at the top, you are in for a treat. There is a museum as well as the famous overlook of Polanco and of Reforma. The only downside of this place is the crowds and that you can’t bring water inside the premises which is a negative when it is just so hot. There are water fountains but I would not trust it. Other than that, an amazing place and tickets are inexpensive.

$90 pesos to get in. This place allows Mexicans and non Mexican over 60 to get in for free. It's a beautiful building but I wasn't as impressed as the Cathedral in the historic district. We loved the room with the jewelry on top and the paintings on the 1st floor. On the back of the building is the water fountain. Wear walking shoes, it's a walk to get to the castle.

If you love castles like me, you’ll love this one! It’s stunning and very well-maintained. It’s a bit of a walk to the castle and it’s also very large so wear comfortable shoes, you’ll be doing a lot of walking. Beautiful views of the city on the terraces. The entrance fee is 90 pesos for foreigners.

Beautiful castle, also the view of the view of the city is amazing. You will have to walk up a hill, not too high but maybe too much for an elderly person. There are machines where yoy can buy the tickets to enter. You will need 10 pesos in cash to get a token for the lockers, if you have a backpack or a large bag. I loved walking in the park to get to the castle, and I loved the castle, it has a luxurious european style that surprised me.

This was a great experience from beginning to end. I recommend buying tickets in advance as there is always a line and be ready to walk a lot but it is completely worth it. Take your time to read and learn the history and visit the gift shop!

An architectural wonder, fantastic history museum, and excellent art gallery all in one. Absolutely worth the 90 pesos, as the ticket covers multiple experiences. You’ll get two museums, a sculpture garden, and some of the best views of CDMX. Make sure to have a couple hours to devote to this, as there’s lots to see! There are many photo opportunities to be had as well. There is, however, only signage in español. So, if you don’t understand the language, then you will want an audio guide.

The castle is absolutely gorgeous! Since it was a weekend day all Mexicans and immigrants that lived in Mexico got a free pass, it was really busy and packed with lots of people. The rest of the foreigners needed to pay 90 pesos ($5 USD aprox). The place, the view was totally worth it though. Even the walk to get there was nice. Not food, liquids of any kind and no groceries are allowed. The weather was perfect too. This is the perfect time to go. I Totally recommend it! You can also go walking to the Museo de Antropología, to the zoo, to the botanic garden, to the Museo de Arte contemporáneo. Everything is really close and walkable.

Fantastic place at a very affordable price!! Just 90 pesos and there are lots to see. One of the only two royal palaces in North America! Beautiful rooms and views of the city. I fully recommend it

It's a beautiful castle filled with amazing treasures and a gorgeous view of the city. It's in a huge park, filled with vendors selling a variety of foods and products.

It was very hard to find it,. The GPS didn’t have the correct address. Also be ready to walk! The castle is at the top of the mountain and it's totally worth it! If I am not mistaken they offer discounts for senior citizens and maybe students. Please call to verify in advance

Beautiful landmark right in the middle of the ‘Bosque de Chapultepec’. The cost is $90 mxn (in 2023) and it’s definitely worth it. Expect a little bit of a long walk up but the view is beautiful from there!

I have been to Mexico City several times, however i never visited Chapultepec Castle until this visit. I have recently been reading up in Mexican history, so it was exciting to see the actual artifacts that I have been reading about. The gardens are gorgeous, and the views of the city are spectacular. Just a word of warning: these days everyone wants to be a social media star, so many people are trying to get the best selfie or best shot of each of the popular views and artifacts, so be prepared to stand in line to get your photos.

Beautiful sight, gorgeous views of the city, lots of history to learn. We happened to go when there was a concert from the Baroque Orchestra from the National Music Conservatory. First time visiting, really liked the place. Be warned you need to walk uphill to get to the castle.

Despite having huge empty rooms in the west wing (why even open that section, lots of construction everywhere), the center and east wing make it worth it. Make sure you ask where to begin so you can see the evolution of Mexico from Aztecs to the Spanish conquests to revolts by the locals and present day. It's heartbreaking to see it but it is what it is. (If you REALLY want to see the entire progression since the ancient Oaxacans, Mayans, etc, go to the Museum of Anthropology across the street before heading here and be sure to ask how to see it all chronologically as well. It's like stepping into a history book!). With impressive balcony views of the entire city and lush colorful gardens, this castle gives you all that you need for a nice stroll.

Very impressive structure that towers over a beautiful park and surrounding museums. Setup like a museum it takes more than a few minutes to walk through but once you get to the outdoor terrace, you won’t get a better view of the city! Go in the first couple hours of opening as it was getting very crowded as we were leaving. Put your walking shoes on as it’s a bit of an uphill trek for those not expecting it.
