Food was adequate, not great and not bad. Service was a bit hit and miss. They forgot to.put my order to the kitchen, people who arrived after me had been served and were already preparing to leave when my food finally arrived. I won't go back.

I'm half Uruguayan and have visited Montevideo in several occasions. I'd never been to or heard of this place before. Just decided to go in because we were famished and they advertised pumpkin milanesas on the street (one of my girlfriends is vegetarian). We went in, the place is very nicely decorated, the owner and staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. They have three styles of craft house beer as well as cider. There is a space with a piano where presumably live music is sometimes available. They have a varied menu including pasta, milanesas, chivito, hamburgers, steak, among other things. I had a chicken milanesas with rustic-style chips, both things glorious. I drank the passion fruit beer, which feels a bit like an IPA with added passion fruit. Everything was good and prices very nice as well.

Firstly, service was good. All the servers were kind and helpful even with our mediocre Spanish. Sadly the food was not great. The special of the day was a Paella which was bland, watery and all fish seemed frozen. We also ordered the traditional Chivito which was not a great advert for Uruguayan food. Fortunately the mango beer was pretty good. We are backpacking and are on a tight budget so we finished our food out of necessity but I would recomend walking around the corner to the Port food market. We were pretty hungry and made a rash decision, don't do the same... Although it's pretty cheap and in a nice location the food was not quite good enough.Hope it gets better!

I got an intestinal infection from their seafood paella. Spent the following week in the bed and it's sad because it ruined my entire experience in Montevideo

Excellent chivitos. We had the vegetarian and the Criollo, ham, panceta, steak, mozzarella, egg, lettuce, tomatoe. Both were served with French fries.

!Me encanta Almazara! If you want great service and great food at an amazing price, dine here. My Spanish isn't great, but Ana let me do my best to order in Spanish and explain things in English so I was sure to order a meal I was happy with. I wish I hadn't had such a big lunch because the empanadas I had were amazing. I had the queso y cebolla, y the caprese empanadas with a glass of wine. There is no rush with dinner so I enjoyed my glass of wine and the atmosphere of the restaurant. For dessert I had the Flan con Dulce de Leche. It was phenomenal and the largest piece of flan I have ever seen. Uruguay is not cheap but Almazara was very affordable. I wish I had gone sooner in my trip; do not make the same mistake I did! Thank you for a wonderful meal :)

Service was only half decent. Probably a tourist trap. Got the Canadian chivito to go. May be more appropriate to just get coffee and cake there, even though the interior looks more like a formal restaurant than a cafe, not sure if it’s a comfortable place to work out of (waitress was initially rude to me when I wanted to ask if there’s wifi, and brushed me off after she told me to sit and wait for another waitress to swipe my card) As a tourist who had chivito at McDonald’s, i found the bun from this joint to be lacking. Everything else is passable. Glad I didn’t sit in even though I was tempted to get the chivito. Better to make your own unless you’re desperate

Cozy and comfortable cafe and restaurant with great food at very honest prices. We had an early dinner, while many tables around us were still having tea and cakes (all the cakes look stunning and the one we had for dessert was delicious!). We had a fantastic milanesa (breaded steak) with great sauce and sides and a huge, lush and delicious lasagna. Service was attentive and very kind. Cocktails are also offered at a reasonable price, but we found them a bit "on the weak side". Still, highly recommended.

Hot empanadas and other cakes/pastries at the cafe in front. Decent prices on restaurant menu. Nice wine selection.

We had an amazing time at Almazara during our brief stay in Montevideo. We stopped on the first evening for drinks at a sidewalk table, and came back the next noon for lunch. We ordered milanesa, grilled fish, spanish tortilla. Every dish hit the spot just right, with fresh ingredients. The decor of the restaurant is modern and relaxing. What's even more unforgettable was the outstanding service of the staff. They were attentive all the time, and despite us not speaking Spanish, the waitresses tried their best to communicate. After lunch, my dad accidentally left his shirt on the chair and left, with cash inside. The staff members were super helpful. They made sure the shirt was returned to us intact. For our month-long South America trip, Almazara is one of the highlights that we talk about all the time with our friends. It speaks volumes about Uruguayan food and hospitality. Highly recommended

🫤 Not as good as the Google rating. Fried fish is OK, very basic food. Nothing special here. Service was good. The seating is very poor quality and not as nice as pictured, unfortunately as it is near the water but with no water views.
