👍👍 Great food and staff! We arrived at 730 and the place was empty, but most tables were reserved. Within an hour the entire restaurant was packed with no empty tables. We were lucky to arrive early. I would recommend reservations.

Pacharán is one of my favorite places to eat in Montevideo, and probably the single restaurant I go to the most. It is the place I always take people from out of town, especially after a few days when they are tired of meat/pasta/pizza like most places. It is a beautiful space, the bar of an old basque club (you can see memorabilia of basque *pelota* and even look down on the courts when you use the restroom). The food is excellent, one of a handful of places in the city where you can get good seafood. There are authentic basque dishes on the menu, craft beer and ciders, and their very excellent sangria and Clericó (Uruguayan white sangria). Yes, it is expensive (although if you use a foreign credit card, you don’t have to pay sales tax), but it is a unique place and worth it. It is also a nice place to have lunch downtown, when the vibe is a little more relaxed than at dinner time when it is usually packed. I recommend calling ahead for a reservation, especially on weekends.

Food was wonderful and the sangria was magical. The decor is really cool. I gave it 4 stars because the bill was a little steep compared to other places. My brother had La Lengue (2nd photo) which was surprisingly excellent..tender and flavorful. A perfect place for a special occasion dinner

The food was incredible, I'd dare to say one of the best meals I've had in the last years. A hidden gem in downtown Montevideo!

This is one of my favorite places in Montevideo, it just never fails. The food is amazing and the service is great. It does get pretty full so it's better to make a reservation first.

Excellent Basque food in the old town. We had paella and tapas - super good. It feels like a tavern, and seems like it has been there forever, even though it's only 11 years old. Best to book ahead: we went on a Friday night and every seat at every table was full by 9 pm. Prices are great: all included, it cost 700 pesos per person. Great value for money! Be aware that the paella usually takes about 40 minutes to prepare. Highly recommended for a fun, casual meal in a lively atmosphere.

Highly recommended. Beautiful meal of grilled haddock and pear salad with a bottle of Chardonnay. Excellent service. Our waiter Matias was friendly and helpful. He suggested the glazed pear and ice cream for dessert and it was delectable. Very fine evening and wonderful food and service.

The food was delicious, the portions were big and enough. We had sangria to drink and it was fresh and with a lot of fruit. I recommend to order the shrimp salad and the fried squid, we had them as entrees, and we were very happy with both. We had some issues with a dish and asked the server to took it back, and they charged us for it anyway, we were very disappointed by the manager's decision, but there was nothing that could be done about it.

The place is nice, looks very cozy and invites you to spend a night with friends, the food was not bad but could have been better. It was full so the service was a little overwhelmed.

Food was pretty average. Was expecting something extra special but wasn't too impressed.

Nice, friendly, neighborhood eatery. We had the Paella Completo which was good, but not outstanding. I would definitely go back.

Incredible food. Tasty and beautifull! Not a romantic place though.

It's probably the best food we have in Uruguay during our 10 days' stay. The paella was delicious, and they have reasonable house wine. Daniel was the best server, super attentive, knowledgeable, and make our night special with a little restaurant gift. It was certainly the best way to celebrate our last night in Uruguay. Thanks!🙌🥰🫠

Bad light, bad food. We tried the Seafood paella and the milanesa filet and both were really bad.

Unique dinning spot serving very authentic basque specialties Tucked upstairs in a historic building it's hard to find unless you know.

🫤 Not as good as the Google rating. Fried fish is OK, very basic food. Nothing special here. Service was good. The seating is very poor quality and not as nice as pictured, unfortunately as it is near the water but with no water views.
