I was fine with the sketchy location. I was fine with the more than antiquated room. I was fine with everything until SOMEONE ENTERED MY ROOM AND TURNED OUT THE LIGHTS AND TURNED OFF THE HEAT WHILE I WAS NOT THERE. I leave the lights on because as a single female traveler, I do not like entering dark, unknown spaces at night. Also, this room is freezing, so I left the heat on to be make the room bearable. Both are totally unacceptable. I will be leaving this hotel immediately tomorrow morning and going a hotel that is more secure.

Cool and nice for the price. Bathroom is large. The balcony is to. Room is a little dated. But to be right in the middle of everything and quite is nice. Elevator is old school and pretty cool..

I loved my stay at the Palacio! The hotel was very cute and full of charm. My room was great and the service was exceptional. There was 24/7 concierge which I appreciated, and they stored my bags when I checked out. The location cannot be best if you wanna stay near cuidad vieja. Felt very safe, with lots of access to restaurants, things to see, and attractions.

Hotel Palacio is a real gem. We had low expectations going in given the phenomenal pricing, and were pleasantly surprised! Staff were so, so kind and accommodating. The rooms were larger than I anticipated, and had everything we needed. The rooftop patio was an added bonus, and perfect for enjoying a glass of wine at sunset. The location was also excellent. If we are ever in Montevideo again we will be staying here again!

The hotel is very historical with nice balconies and rooftop. Unfortunately bed are very very uncomfortable and the furniture's distribution is very no well designed. Very small room and the service is not up to to a basic standard. Breakfast is not included and you need to bring your luggage to the lobby and to get go the lobby there are stairs . Get those muscles ready if you travel with heavy bags .

We loved this hotel. The rooms could be a little tidier and the pillows definitely need to be replaced, but it is a beautiful old building in a great location. It was like sleeping in a museum.

The hotel was very cool with vintage charm and ambiance. The highlight is the elevator which suits the hotel well. The rooms are okay and the staff is friendly and above average. You get a charming feel here for a good price. Only negative point. The walls are as thin as paper. You can hear a lot. Also the elevator. Otherwise very good.

All staff were really friendly and helpful at this hotel. Room was spacious and equipped with everything needed. Although some furniture are quite old I found it rather charming as it was all clean and functional. AC and hot water worked excellently, bed and pillows were comfortable. Very convenient location with a lot of options for food and entertainment within walking distance. WiFi connection was sufficient and free coffee available.

A classic old hotel incredibly well situated if you want to explore the Ciudad Vieja. Not especially fancy or roomy but it has hot showers, extremely helpful, friendly staff and great old world charm. Pretty well exactly as described on travel sites.

coolest hotel in all of old town Montevideo. Owners are a little eclectic but that's what makes it funky and cool.

Very nice old hotel with refrigerator, heating and cooling and with a superb location in the old town. Clean rooms and linen. Good beds. Patricia was really friendly and made us feel at home. Light Southern European style breakfast/sweet and savoury snack and tea or coffee included all day. The only minus was a non existing sound insulation and on top of that loud Spanish room neighbours on European time, up all night. Earplugs are a necessity.

Super friendly staff, helpfull, knowledgeable and attentive, always around accommodating and caring. Always great coffee in the mornings with light snack. Very clean common spaces, luggage storage, with main floor guest bathroom. Safe, fridge and cableTV in room, great bathroom, comfortable mattress, huge terrace, great views, access to rooftop terrace, WiFi. Awesome safe location, plenty of mini marts neerby, lots of free venues in area, with pedestrian street right around the corner. Pubs Restaurants and Cafe's withing a minutes walk, Formal and Casual dinning abound. You can always ask for more but very hard to beat this amazing Hotel and Location. My wife and I .... Loved it and highly recommend it....huge value for your money!

Fantastic no frilz stay. A beautiful old school elevator will bring you to your floor. The staff is super friendly but like anywhere in Latam no one speaks English so bring your translator app. The wifi works well and the place was clean and very well priced.

Nice old charming hotel with 2 friendly old ladies running it. The location is great (right next the old town) and the prices low ( we paid 36 USD). That said, the place compares more to a hostel - small rooms, old interior and a shower that takes 10 min before you can kind of use it - but in a „charming“ way. I recommend to get one of the 2 rooms on the 6th floor if possible as they have balconies with views. We could hear the noise from the street and our bed wasn’t 100% clean but all in all slept well and enjoyed our stay (especially for the price). They don’t offer breakfast , only coffee.

This is a very economical hotel located in a great place in Montevideo. It is old. The rooms are small. The staff is friendly and helpful. I only spoke with them Spanish so it might be harder if you only speak English. We had a room with a huge balcony. Water pressure was low, but the price can't be beat. I would stay there again. They will help you arrange tours to vineyards. It is located steps away from the pedestrian corridors that take you to the old city, market and rambla.
