Thanks to Chino (aka Jorge or George) for, not only a great walking tour around Montevideo, but also for the good time. He can definitely make you laugh and teach you about history at the same time. Starting at the citadela gate at 2 different times per day and either in english or spanish, their tour show the highlights of the old city finishing at the port, just in time for lunch if you go in the morning tour. Thank you guys for a great day!

Are you're looking for a truly unforgettable and informative tour experience in Montevideo? look no further than Curioso Free Tour. Our guide Jean Paul was nothing short of amazing - he was knowledgeable, passionate, and personable, and made the tour a truly memorable experience. He provided us with many information about the city's past and shared interesting insights and stories about the landmarks and neighborhoods we visited. Throughout the tour, Jean Paul engaged with all members of the group and encouraged questions and discussions, making the tour feel more like a conversation than a lecture. The tour itself was a perfect blend of historical and cultural information, local insights, and personal anecdotes, and covered many of Montevideo's most interesting and important landmarks. From the stunning architecture of the city's historic buildings to the bustling energy of its markets and parks, we were able to gain a comprehensive understanding of what makes Montevideo such a unique and special place. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveler, this tour will provide you with an in-depth look at the city's history, culture, and people. If you have the opportunity to tour with Jean Paul, do not hesitate - you will not be disappointed!

Great tour (in English) and our guide JP was really friendly, knowledgeable and made the tour really fun. As I only have a couple days in Uruguay, it was a perfect way to get an overview of the city of Montevideo and learn about the country's history. Definitely would recommend!

I 100% recommend this tour. JP was an excellent guide, the information was informative and entertaining - we even got to try a sample of a traditional spirit! The tour route was super interesting, around the old city, and didn't involve huge legs to walk which meant it was the right level of exertion. We also got a chance to have a little coffee/loo break which was thoughtful.

This was truly one of the best free walking tours we’ve had in South America so far! Our guide Jorge did an amazing job and made the tour very informative but also entertaining and fun. The group size was also not too big. We really enjoyed it and can highly recommend doing this tour when in Montevideo!

My mom and I took a tour with JP this morning (Feb. 1). We did not know what to expect about Montevideo but we learnt so much about the history of the city and good places to visit! In the afternoon, we had visited most of the places he had recommended. Definitely recommend taking this tour!

Jorge is one of the best guides we have had on a free tour. He is very knowledgeable and speaks very good English very clearly. We learnt a lot about the city and Uruguay. He also gave us lots of tips on places to visit. A great introduction to Montevideo.

Agree & Second the other reviews here …that Jorge is a great tour guide & this tour is worth taking! Entertaining & informative is this tour & it answered many , if not all, of the questions that I had about Uruguayan history, politics, food, mate, cultural & comparisons with their Argentine neighbors! Worth 2.5 hours of your day!

Very fun and informative tour. JP was a brilliant guide. A great intro to Montevideo, and still great if you do the tour after being in the city for a few days like I did. Make sure you book on the websitet, they don't have English available for all session times but will offer to rebook you if needed.

This is definitely one of the best free city tour I have made! Martin was super knowledgeable and I learnt a lot about Montevideo, the history and people of Uruguay! On top of that, the tour is super lively with a nice surprise along the way ;) Don’t miss it!

Best tour ever! Our guide Martin was friendly and entertaining, he knew plenty about history and was happy to share it and go off the scrips, he answered all our questions, thought us how to drink mate *spoiler alert* even gave us shots Loved it! Montevideo’s old town is small but once you know more about the history, it’s much more interesting

Jorge was AMAZING. Perfectly paced. Excellent mix of history, culture, fun and recommendations. He was amazingly clear and digestable while giving a broad and thorough historical overview and timeline. The whole time was engaging and I would recommend a tour with him to everyone visiting Montevideo. I WISH I had done the tour with him when I first arrived to be set up for better navigating my stay in the city. Can't recommend enough.

Definitely a very good tour, you can't miss. The guide explains every detail about Uruguay/Montevideo history, arts and traditional buildings. I had my walking tour with Juan Pablo, he was fun, talks good English and understand our "Portuguese Spanish".

Really good tour with Rodrigo we only speak English and he translated for us walking between the tour stops. He had great knowledge and very good value.

  • 4/5 Jads 1 year ago on Google
We did the tour with Rodrigo today. The tour was relatively short (just under 2 hours), but thats more due to the fact there isnt actually that much to see from a history perspective in the old town. The tour was fine, there wasnt a huge enthusiasm for the country/city I felt and I have been a part of better tours. Its a good way to pass time though so would recommend if youre scratching for what to do here.

(Translated by Google) A tour that is worth more than thousands of books. In less than 2 hours, a summary of the history of the city of Montevideo and Uruguay is made, but in a cheerful way without boredom! Muchas gracias a Jorge 👏🏻👍 Viva 🇺🇾🇺🇾🇺🇾

Took this tour with Gonza. It was interesting and fun. He was very sincere and and personable. I'm planning to take the tour again during my stay in beautiful Montevideo. It was a great way to get to know the neighborhood near Plaza Independencia, and the history of Uruguay.

I think the Free Tours of Curioso are the best way to get to know the city (oldtown) of Montevideo. Florencia was an experienced guide with a decent level of English and was answering all kinds questions of every participant. In general good information mix about history and current culture/life style of Uruguay in an informative and fun way. Ca. 2.5h tours, not too long no too short, good timing of walking vs. stops.
