Great value! We stayed on property and dined on multiple occasions (i.e., breakfast and dinner). We enjoyed our stay. The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and updated (Highly recommend rooms 101 - 209 if available. All were recently renovated). The main house rooms can be noisy if there is live music. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. If you're in Bardstown, this is a solid destination and a highly sought after hotel so schedule well in in advance.

This hotel is on the National Historic Register so that may explain a little but not most. I understand this hotel was built in the 1700’s and I understand old. I’ve stayed in old castles in Ireland and visited the oldest pub in Ireland constructed in 929AD. What I don’t understand is lack of maintenance. This hotel suffered a devastating fire in the 90’s and was rebuilt. I think that was probably the last major maintenance too. Sinks didn’t drain, rotten wood, something with claws in the space above our room enjoyed scampering around. I doubt it was the ghosts the place is purported to host. Check in at 4 but they closed early at 4 for Father’s Day and the only notification we received was a phone call at 4:02 telling us this while we were still 90 minutes out because the email and website said 8. They offered to leave the keys in the mailbox and gave us a personal cell # if we couldn’t find them so that was very nice. Bourbon bar was supposed to be open to 8 but that was closed and so was the restaurant. Outside walls 2 feet thick, windows…paper thin so you hear people talking in conversational tones outside your second story room, not to mention the vast multitude of muffler challenged vehicles that cruised the town and the semis going by. Evidently to get from one side of town to the other you go through the center of town. There was a hotel sitting area outside our room where loud drunks congregated. They DID abide by the 11 pm quiet hours thankfully. So nice to be sitting, reading a book and hearing f@$& used as an adverb, verb, and adjective about their gay daughter’s jealous girlfriend. I could tell you a lot more about her, her school etc. but that’s just mean. People in the Jesse James room were appreciative of the entertainment as well. Shower curtain was a short liner that didn’t go all the way down. WiFi password was listed in several places but no WiFi Network Name, nor did one pop up that had Guest on it. We tried the password in all that showed up and even tried it on a hidden one to no avail. No hotel staff on duty for check out. It rained…inside the hotel! As we went out the front door we noticed rain coming down the curtain falling into the windowsill and draining through a fist sized hole in the rotten wood, yes it had obviously been like that for quite awhile. It was also coming in the wall where a security camera was and dropping onto the top of a beautiful antique. Bright lights outside and no blackout curtains kept another occupant on the street side awake all night. Bring ear pods and eye shades. Door to our room didn’t latch closed. The door handle didn’t work. We were encouraged to have reservations for dinner and still waited in line because they lost them. Dinner was interesting. Our table was balanced with stacks of napkins. Service was friendly albeit understaffed. Fried green tomatoes were awesome, I’d recommend them. Sides were cold, salmon was tasty and the pot roast was good for the price. We sat sandwiched by dirty dishes on a table next to us as well as a tray. Bar closed at 8…no drinks in the restaurant were allowed after that either and several patrons were upset. Yes, we stayed at the oldest bourbon bar and never had a drink in it. But we had dinner 20 feet from the oldest bar top... It’s just sad that they aren’t showing this beautiful place some love.

The worst management I have ever experienced. Losing so much money not having the bar area just a bar area, plus we waited over 45 minutes for a table and included a picture. As you can see the place was empty. Our waitress was so nice and said yes she does not understand what is going on. The food was okay, but this place needs help a monkey could do a better job.

Stayed in the Jesse James room 6/17 & 6/18. The room is very small. The shower was horrible. There’s no room in the shower and you’re constantly wrapped up in the curtains. Absolutely disgusted when I looked up and the last occupants wash cloth was hanging next to my head. Breakfast was cold both mornings. Bar and restaurant closed for Father’s Day. Poor management is going to ruin what a great place this could be!

Walked in. Took my reservation and phone number. Told me it would be an hour wait. Explicitly said they would call and that I could have dinner. Manager stood there, saw me put in a reservation, said nothing. After waiting almost an hour I called to check in. They said that they don’t take walk ins, they shouldn’t have taken mine, and it was the managers decision not to provide dinner. Pass if you are walk-in for dinner. Manager needs to be more present to make sure staff follows changing policies.

200 year old building. Restaurant/bar and Inn. We enjoyed eating Kentucky food. I had excellent burgoo and a lettuce salad. My wife had a hot brown. All were excellent and the staff was just as good.

I stay here every chance I get. I eat her very often; never had a bad meal here. I recommend this place to all of my friends, Wedding Associates, ghost hunting friends.

We booked a room online and stayed at the Talbott Inn, operated by The Old Talbott Tavern, which is in a separate building (an alley separates both). It was our first bed & breakfast experience and we really enjoyed ourselves. The building was safe, beautiful, well kept and our room was clean and very cozy. We stayed in room 204, which had a great view of the center of town. The mini fridge didn’t work very well but it wasn’t a big deal. We were on a haunted historical vacation checking out the old haunted buildings and the surrounding old architecture. Next store, at The Old Talbott Tavern is haunted so we were intrigued to take a self-guided tour of the upstairs, which is free and they encourage you to check it all out. There was cool historical pieces of history up there. During breakfast I inquired to the waitress about if it’s really haunted and she said yes, and that the storage area in the basement is where a lot of activity is noticed by the staff. We were also told that the basement also has remnants of the slave shackles back from the early 1800’s. And the innkeeper next store at the Old Jailers Inn told us that this building is connected through an underground cavern to their property and to the center of town where the courthouse used to be. It was an awesome experience seeing this original stagecoach stop from the late 1700’s and the downtown was beautiful with the old time feel and gorgeous old homes. I’d definitely recommend this place.

So it is great for a drive into the past. Everything is old and I love that. They warn you that on Friday and Saturday nights that rooms 4,5, and 6 are loud, they are right bc those rooms are literally above the bar. Staff was very nice and accommodating. I did end up leaving but I don't want to explain why. I loved the bar though! It was fun, and good music, and good drinks. I had a good time.

Reserved a room specifically to stay at the Inn and enjoy the tavern for the bourbon and food. During check-in I was NOT told that dinner was by reservation only. Later in the day we went to have dinner and was told that there were NO tables at all, reservation only. It would have been nice to know that when I checked in earlier in the day. Being that it was a Sunday night after 5pm, NO other restaurants were open. I will NOT be staying here again. The rooms are nice but no better than any chain hotel. Save your money and go somewhere else.

My husband and I came from Canada to Louisville but decided to extend our trip because we are very interested in historical and "haunted" pleaces. We were so excited to stay a night in the Lincoln Room at the Old Talbott Tavern, so we made the hour drive and changed our flight to a later day. Upon showing up, staff told us they tried to call us (we don't have cellphones as we are out of country) and that there was a double booking. We booked directly through the website and another family booked through a 3rd party site. Because the other family booked for a longer stay, they were given the Lincoln room and we were given an "upgrade" in the newer building in behind. It was a gorgeous room, definitely nicer, but it was extremely disappointing that the staff did nothing for us. Besides offer their apologies and dessert at the restaurant, which neither of us were interested in. They were so nice but we should not have been the ones to be screwed over, especially since we booked directly through them and we only were coming for one night. We had spent a lot of money and time just to make the trip to stay in that specific room. Breakfast was good and room was nice but very thin walls.

Keep in mind this place was build "way back when".. but the history and atmosphere makes the stay well worth! Stayed in the Danial Boone and Wahington Irving (suite) rooms.. nice! We spent evenings on the porch upstairs just watching the cars and horse drawn carriages meander by, so relaxing.. hotel is right in the middle of everything walking.

Came here for the Bourbon Festival and Lexia the young, rude, inexperienced bartender did not even know what I meant when I asked for a cider beer. She said they did not have any, then attempted to tell me they had cider beer in a jug. I said how does that stay fresh pouring it out of a jug? I said please show me this? Thank God I asked because she would have served us non-alcoholic apple cider out of a jug, and she gave attitude galore from the start. So, come to find out they had Angry Orchard and High Noon, but she tried to serve us Apple cider juice. If Lexia had been nice about this we could have had a good laugh. Lexia needs to be fired. How do you work in hospitality but are not hospitable?
