Small but perfectly formed. Scones jam and clotted cream to die for. Pot of tea comes with extra hot water. Freshly baked cakes ... lovely. Montgomery is a beautiful town with a castle, gift shops , museums of local finds and a stunning view from the war memorial monument (go through wicket gate facing the castle car park) then turn left at the top of the path. For push chairs walk out of the castle car park turn right and then round a tiny bend there is a metal gate on the left, go through and walk straight to the top of the monument. You may need a breather on the way but stunning 360 degree views . Take a drink if it's a hot day.

Delicious food (especially the cakes) and generous portions. Cute atmosphere and very friendly staff, but service was quite slow. Hot Spiced Apple drink was incredible. Some vegetarian options but not a ton. Very few vegan options as the vegetarian stuff was mostly cheese but they did have a vegan cake.

A small cafe on Broad Street in Montgomery, the Castle Kitchen has been around since the mid 1980s. There is seating inside across two floors, and a small amount out front or in the grape vine lined courtyard at the back. Food and service are excellent, the cakes in particular are worth going for. The coffee is so so, but the range of teas is outstanding. There is a deli of local produce in the front of the cafe.

Called in for lunch, there was a nice fire! However the layout of the tables meant that when someone was sitting in front of the fire it totally blocks it from the other customers. Staff were friendly and it’s a busy little place on two floors, so staff are kept very busy up and down stairs. We had a ploughman’s & mezze which was ok but thankfully served with lovely fresh bread. No fault of the cafe but there was a female customer sat alone and constantly coughing and sneezing and blowing her nose! One gentleman asked if she was ok, as she was constantly coughing, to which she replied I have a cold nothing more! ( obviously willing to share it with others) As she was sat close to us for an hour or more Sadly now we have a cold too! On a positive the cafe has good menu nice bread & cakes and service is friendly The negative is the tables are to close together or some people even having to share a table sadly not big enough to accommodate many people safely and comfortably. There’s a little deli shop inside too with some nice little products to buy and they also do cakes to takeaway which were delicious.

What an absolute gem. A beautiful cafe with a lovely garden at the back full of birds singing. A really lovely and varied menu and oh my - THE BEST SCONES I have ever had! Really friendly staff and everything is baked and prepared on site. Highly recommended and we would go back to Montgomery just for this cafe! Thank you so much.

An oasis of calm with wonderful scones. Only regret is they are closed on Mondays.

Wonderful courtyard out the back - like a touch of mainland Europe in Wales! Amazing food and lovely ladies in the shop/kitchen. Very well recommended

Had a lovely lunch here today, food and drinks were fabulous, friendly staff, we weren’t rushed even though they were busy and near to closing time when we left, definitely go back and will recommend. Thank you

👍👍 Outstanding restaurant in the centre of Montgomery. Since it offers fine dining, not advised for a quick meal but it is well worth the wait. The staff was nice and helpful, the interior design is modern and tasteful. I ate a smoked eel and apple starter, herb risotto main and panna cotta dessert, al...
