Seriously good fried chicken. The cornbread muffins were the best thing I ate. Definitely planning on coming back!

I had time for one meal in Montgomery and multiple people directed me to Martin’s. Am so glad they did. I had a huge feast for under $20. “It ain’t food if it ain’t fried,” said a prominent sign. That sums it up pretty well.

We found this place in our Road Food book and it did not disappoint. We had an early dinner here. The staff was very pleasant and prompt. We were seated immediately and were brought some cornbread muffins. We both had the chicken dinner and it was very good. If you enjoy home cooked food this is your place

Good southern country cooking, fried chicken is delicious, highly recommended. Customer service is great, the staff made me feel like I was being served by my own family.

Very good fried chicken. I ordered the lunch meal special which comes with meat and three side for $12. I also added a pulley chicken based on other reviews. I was surprised the meal came with not only two pieces of chicken but two breast. I tried the rice/gravy, string beans, and mashed potatoes/gravy along with corn muffins (2). The side were nothing special. In fact the rice/gravy barely had any gravy on it. The mashed potatoes/gravy was good and the string beans only needed a little pepper. The muffins on the other hand were not good at all. Not sure what all the rave is about the pulley chicken as it was just white meat cut where the wishbone is located on a chicken. The breasts were just as good. Very good price for what you get. Would I stop again if nearby...yes. Would I go out of my way to go here...no. Service I received was excellent. It was very busy but received my meals quickly.

Most of my reviews are first impressions. Initially this spot does not give the impression of great dining, but I was wrong. The dinning room is under stated. Older furniture, plastic table clothes. The food has a homemade southern look ,taste and it was great. Cornbread muffins hot and delicious. I had meatloaf with green beans with mashed potatoes. Chocolate meringue pie for dessert good. the service good food I highly recommend

The real deal! Good down home cooking at it's very best. Very friendly staff... Get there early or expect options to become limited. You won't find any out of the box, frozen fast food here!

Edit: Went today 11.19.21 and was also here a week ago, the food has started to come out on the cool side of warm. It still tasted great but I gotta bump my rating to 4 stars because of this. Then the meal is usually 12 dollars and for some reason I was charged 14:30 today. It was busy and I didn't realize it till I was outside. Not sure what's going on there but they are kinda slipping... Picture attached of receipt.... Very awesome restaurant with some down home cooking. Everyone is always polite and courteous. Customer service is spot-on. Food is always fast hot and delicious. Get there early and ask for the pulley bone chicken. Be sure to try the honey if they have on the table with your cornbread. I can never finish all my food they serve nice portions.

Stopped by here 6 years ago and had the best experience but forgot to write a review. This time I came in a few weeks ago and had to be sure to write a review this time. Best Meat and 3 place in the South!! Fried chicken is spectacular!! I describe the service as being treated like a family member they haven't seen for a while. Southern hospitality is great but Alabama hospitality is exceptional.

This was my second time trying this restaurant. My first time I wasn't impressed. So I thought I would try again on the chance they were having a bad day. However, I placed my order with the associate when you first walk in. She wasn't very friendly or welcoming. I did notice that if you were a regular she was more friendly with them. I ordered the Salmon Croquettes, String Beans, Rice and Gravy, and Jello. All of the food was warm at best. The rice and gravy had no flavor, the beans needed seasoning, and the surprise was when I opened my jello. It had bits of pineapple in it. If I would have known that I would have chose a different option. Although the Salmon Croquettes were warm at best, they were good. I will not be going back for a third time to spend almost $15.00 on a meat and three that was not satisfying nor did it come with a drink.

Went for the first time and I wouldn't go back. It felt like I went back in time and for black people that's never a good feeling. My chicken was fried with corn meal, it was really bad and funny enough it was expensive. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Best Fried Chicken I have ever had since my Grandmother died. Moist, great flavor, very hot temperature, and the sides were spot on with the chicken. If your a Fried Chicken fan, you must stop here for at least one meal before you die. No joke!!

The fried chicken was incredible! I haven't had better anywhere else in Alabama. The rutabagas were a hit as well. All the vegetables we tried had great flavor and texture. Martin's is the benchmark for an outstanding meat +3.

I have grown up eating here. Good home cooked meat and three. The food is fast and delicious every single time. Best sweet tea and friend chicken! My fave is the meatloaf! You need to try it at least once.

Was busy for a Sunday lunch but we were still seated immediately! We ordered roast beef and fried chicken and both were great, although the chicken was especially good. Meal was served with bottomless iced tea and a basket of fresh cornbread. Portion sizes were large and fairly priced. The restaurant is unassuming from the outside and located in a strip mall. Don’t be put off, Martin’s is worth a visit!

Excellent southern fried chicken. Not greasy. Good selection of sides. They are on a rotation schedule which means some are not available every day. I think this makes for each side being made with a lot more care than if they had 20 every day.

Martins had the best fried chicken when I was young,. It was even better as I got older...and while everyone around me (except me) gets even older, it is a source of comfort that Martin's continues to have the BEST BEST Fried Chicken ever! The employees are such wonderful people too so if you want to know about Southern hospitality...head straight to Martin's. CSW

After reading the good reviews I was looking forward to trying Martin's. We seated ourselves and our server took the order and brought our drinks. The food came out right away, almost too fast. The potatoes tasted odd and were cold, my wife didn't like them at all. The butter beans were great, the turnip greens just average. The biggest disappointment was the fried chicken that everyone reviewed. It was stone cold. The breading was no longer crunchy from sitting so long. I was more than disappointed with the meal.

The food was edible and the mashed potatoes instant canned greens and store bought potato salad. Yes it is country food but not homemade. I live in the area and this was my first and last visit. I left most of the food on the plate and even told them it wasn’t good. They still charged me.

The friend chicken was great. Super fresh and not very oily. Their mashed potato and macaroni and cheese were on spot. Nice place to eat when visiting Montgomery.

Hubby and I stopped in today on our way home to Satsuma. We’d never been to your establishment and were so delighted with the food and the service and the atmosphere. We both got meat and three and everything, everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The servings were generous and we had enough for supper especially since my husband insisted on ordering extra sides to go with supper. I highly recommend Martin’s and can’t wait to go back.
