Cafeteria style, quick moving lines and lots of choices. I recommend the sweet and spicy chicken, mash potatoes and cucumber salad. And the chocolate chip bread pudding was really tasty and enough to share.

If you're looking for looking to experience some outstanding southern home cooking try out the Farmers Market Cafe. Tried the fried chicken, coleslaw, cooked cabbage and mashed potatoes. Everything was great! Chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The skin was perfectly crispy with perfectly juicy tender meat to go with it. Also noteworthy was the coleslaw, perfectly crafted as one would expect at a mom and pops southern establishment.

Friendly service and a solid southern breakfast for under $10. The biscuits were buttery and served hot, and perfect pancakes. Everyone there looked to be local. Definitely worth a visit!

I had asked my former co-workers awhile back about where could I get a good Southern breakfast and was told The Farmer's Market Cafe was a " don't miss".. and after using Google Maps I found myself in the front parking area this morning .. so in I went... I was warmly greeted and given a menu.. I ordered The Farmer's Breakfast and knew there was no way I could get out of here without trying The Biscuits and Gravy which later I found a great choice. plus coffee and juice to wash it down.. the meal was nothing short of excellent.. well prepared oh and did I rave about the biscuits and gravy .. well they were worth the trip.. my waitress was on point and my coffee cup never went dry. The dining area was spacious and clean and so was the restroom.. After dining I checked out the surrounding area. Time slipped away and by the time I returned the restaurant was serving lunch and the parking lot was packed.. I made a mental note that lunch here is a must. I say to the restaurant staff and management .. great job .. and I will return..

Passing through the town and found this little hole in the wall gem. Simple, cheap, great portion breakfast. Definitely hit the spot. Highly recommend. Don't let the simplicity fool you, one of the best breakfasts I had in a long time. Also, biscuits were amazing and fresh.

Good food, great people, amazing history! My family has been going since it opened and it has always been consistent! You won't regret trying anything on their menu!

My family got their food from the cafeteria line, I ordered from the grill. My waitress had to ask for my food 4 different times. My family was completely finished eating before I even got my food, including my 71 year old grandmother who eats as slow as a little bird. When my food FINALLY got to me, the entire order was wrong. I was too late to complain. I ordered a bacon patty melt, no onions, with fries. What a relieved was a bacon patty melt (with onions) and onion rings. Be glad i had a doctors appointment that day because I am ALLERGIC TO ONIONS and if I would have had the time, I would have sent everything back. Instead I just didn't eat anything. I'll never go back here.

This sweet diner is what southern diner dreams are made of. Homey, welcoming, clean and delicious, you can not beat the taste and warmth of a fresh cooked homemade meal. The breakfast portions were generous and it was so reasonably priced. Worth the visit.

The Farmers Market Cafe is a Montgomery establishment that has been here for a long time and there is definitely a reason for it. I usually come for their breakfast but they have great lunch as well. The staff are friendly and the service is good. Come give them a shot, make sure and taje a look at their hours before you come.

Great Southern food at affordable prices. It was a busy place at lunchtime on Friday, but with many tables we were able to sit immediately after going through the cafeteria line. We had to wait a little while for a server to bring our drinks, but not too terribly long.

Great place for a quick down-home lunch. Food was delicious. Staff and guests are friendly. Recommend that you stop by for a sit down lunch on your way through Montgomery.

It's the coughing in their hands and then getting bread with no gloves on for me🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 they are friendly. Please tell the servers to put on gloves when dealing with customers food. I work for the health department and I was just shaking my head. I cancelled my order. Because I think the servers were sick 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢 PLEASE DO BETTER 😷😷😷😷 Sir or Madam I thank you for taking time to write a response but the servers the older Lady with the sweat shirt on came from the dining room with a beautiful smile and went right to the toaster and got 4 pieces of bread and put them in the toaster with NO GLOVES 😞 ON.....The girl with the pink long sleeve shirt on didn't USE GLOVES 😔 and the young lady who waited on me put on A GLOVE ON HER LEFT HAND ONLY. SO REWATCH YOUR VIDEO . THANK YOU AND I KNOW THE FOOD IS MOST LIKELY VERY GOOD . BUT YOU NEED TO TELL THE GIRLS IN THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE TO DO BETTER WHEN A CUSTOMER IS IN THEIR PRESENCE.

It's a great place to eat lunch if you only have an hour. The wait is not long at all. I really like the way you just go get your food and sit down to eat. They come over while you're eating and give you a check. Super convenient. And the food was great.

Our waitress was great and was so on time with everything. Dirty dishes was taken away on time, coffee was brought on time, even spoke to the guy who cleaned the table. Just a very nice experience.

We asked for a place with authentic Alabamans cuisine and we got it. The meat and 3 was very fulfilling. An experience worth trying.

Nice folks and good food. Watch the slick old tile floors inside when it's humid. Our waitress looked like she was roller skating. Great sweet tea.

Love this place for lunch or breakfast. I've been 3 times in a week. I called in an order for breakfast and it was hot and ready for pickup as I arrived. Such a time saver. The food is always perfectly seasoned, especially the fried chicken. The prices for their meat and 3 beats any in the area. Definitely my go to spot for breakfast and lunch! Fast, friendly service is surely a plus.

Down home cooking serving in a very mellow, calm environment. Staff was attentive and very nice to us and my toddler. The food was excellent and served in a very timely manner. Everything tasted homemade and was very enjoyable.

We have come a few times for breakfast to give this place a fair trial. The staff is very friendly. The food is bland. The food is often Cold, greasy, and low end ingredients. The breakfast bowl is frozen hashbrowns covered in loosely scrambled egg and multiple slices of American cheese that appear to be microwaved over the top. The biscuits and gravy has watery gravy and it’s cold and lacks seasoning. The coffee is burned and watery. The French toast is just regular sandwich bread French toast that you can make at home. The omelette is potentially the only saving grace; although it also lacks seasoning. It seems like the common crowd here are retirees that have made this a bit of a habitual spot. People are coming here for socializing and not for the quality of the food. Bottom line: this place charges more than waffle house with a lower quality option. I would not recommend this at all.

Delicious and filling: The CONECUH Hamburger! I am currently on an all things CONECUH eating spree! This was the best item thus far from the local and famous Farmer's Market located in downtown Montgomery, AL. This burger is huge and the half a plate of hot fries completes the meal! I enjoyed my meal and my new Wednesday, Lunch special!!! Please call and ask them to put this item on the every day menu! A must have!!!

Come here for a great southern breakfast or an awesome lunch off of the hot bar. Go on Hamburger Steak day and don’t miss the Bread Pudding day! Banana Pudding is great too! If the hot bar is not your thing, order a burger, chicken sandwich or BLT (but get the tomatoes fried and green). Yes! For breakfast… The biscuits and gravy, omelettes, scrambled eggs, sausage, and pancakes are all fantastic. Cheese grits! My wife loves the western omelette. I have not a bad meal here and the staff is awesome. They kept my tea full the whole time my wife and I visit.

What an awesome market to enjoy some good ole down home southern cooking! We, 5 co-workers and I, ventured in for the majority of us to indulge in chicken livers and gizzards. One or two ate asked chicken and the works. I had a mix of gizzards and liver along with mustard greens, snap beans, fried okra, and a good piece of cornbread. Several colleagues topped their meals off with nanner pudding. Personally, I filled up on the meats and veggies this visit! Had some half and half tea as they make their's like mom did, a little on the "sweet" side. Nothing wrong with that, I'm just older and can't drink it like I use to. Variety of meat and veggies, deserts and drink. If you want some good cooking, service with a smile and some chit chat while in the line, drop by and patronize the Farmers Market Cafe and its wonderful team! Our server was outstanding, never letting our drinks get low, didn't bother us but kindly dropped by in passing to see if we needed anything and then prepared a few of us some drinks to go. You won't go wrong stopping in to eat down home cooking that will make your ribs stick together, or better yet, make your tongue slap your brains out! Enjoy!!!

Not the most up to date place but great food. We asked the guy at the museum where do all the locals eat and he suggested here. Great food. Laid back and relaxed atmosphere. If I'm ever in town again, I will definitely stop by.

The workers there were so sweet and respectful. Fast service and the food was amazing. Shoutout to the sweet waiter, Mrs. Leanne that was so quick and made my experience feel personal and finally the cook. The food was perfectly seasoned and cooked for my likings. I would most certainly recommend friends there. That was a great experience and that is rare for me.
