Brunch was great! Inside is beautiful and they have nice outdoor seating. Food and drinks were fantastic! I highly recommend the Guava Margarita and Chorizo Burrito!

Our experience was definitely worth 5 stars. We were celebrating a birthday, and although we didn't make a big deal about that, every part of our dining experience was fantastic. We had a reservation, seated promptly, server was fantastic, all appetizers and drinks were good, and dinner was tasty. Portions are not huge, but you definitely won't leave hungry! Will definitely visit again!

Showed up on a Sunday before 2. We were turned away for service at the front door because “they close / stop service at 1.” After taking my disabled father back to the car I returned to inform the hostess that their posted hours said 2 and we arrived before 2. I then asked to speak with management. I informed management of our experience. Standing at the bar next to the open kitchen I could observe that food service was still in full swing, and it was just now 2pm as I glanced at my phone (again). I told management that service staff should be better trained to provide better customer service, that they should be transparent if they were closing early rather than lying at telling us they stopped service at 1pm. I motioned multiple times toward the open kitchen which was definitely still in full service and preparing orders. Management very much so was unresponsive to my suggestions to improve their training and customer service. Attempts were made to “explain away” inexcusable behavior on the part of their hostess (lying and misrepresenting their operating hours). I asked that excuses and “smoothing over” not be attempted, as what I had experienced was legitimately not good service, not transparent, or even marginally acceptable standard operating procedure for a restaurant. Snark was definitely on the menu from the hostess (prior to speaking with management) as well as the manager / bar manager herself. When I told her I would never be returning there I was told to “have a good day,” which I responded with “you too,” and received “I will,” in response (snark). No attempt at an apology or “sorry for wasting your time” or “sorry for the mix up” or “sorry for our hostess giving you incorrect information” about when they stopped service (2pm not 1pm) was given. My family usually hit this spot for weekday happy hour or weekend brunch / lunch service. I will never be back and will encourage everyone I know not to bother darkening they door of this place again.

We had Sunday Brunch. Brunch is probably my favorite meal and they did it justice. The food was delectable. The pineapple upside down mimosa was fabulous. I also had to try the Kentucky coffee and while the whip was literally over the top and made it a bit messy, it was a welcomed mess. The cinnamon flavors were delicious without being overstated and you could still notice the bourbon without it feeling too pronounced as I have a sensitive palate. Their servings were perfectly proportional leaving me feeling neither unsatisfied nor needing to bring home a doggy bag. I enjoyed eating outside, the atmosphere was light and pleasant. I plan on returning to this establishment because there were many items in their lunch menu that left me wanting, however they won't serve them on a weekend bunch. Good thing too, otherwise I might have let my hedonistic appetite get the better of me. Our server, Roy, was fun and amiable. I enjoyed his prompt service and upbeat demeanor. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who loves Brunch as much as I do. Wonderful place to come and enjoy a bite and a very welcoming atmosphere here in beautiful Louisville, Kentucky.

Great small plates, the stuffed dates are excellent. The 3 stars for service was due to them being understaffed. Our waiter was great but he had too many tables. I had the steak and fries and it was delicious.

Had lunch with a friend and the food was, as always, delicious. We thought we were ordering the $16 lunch special (1 main item, 1 side, drink, and cookies). We opted for wine rather than soft drink. Food arrived, but we had no flatware or napkins. Could not get the server’s attention, so we walked over to the server’s station and got our own. Once finished, it took awhile for the server to come over to collect our empty plates. She asked if we wanted dessert. “Aren’t we getting cookies?” Turns out by ordering our food without the soft drink, we were charged $14 rather than $16 for the special, and no cookies… even though we each ordered an $11 glass of wine. We declined dessert and shook our heads. Then, waited and waited for our check. Finally flagged a different server and asked to speak to a manager. The manager gave us the option of having our food rung up as the $16 special so we could get cookies. WOW! What a deal. No thanks! Go back to Customer Service 101.

Small menu, maybe 25 items, and each one is 10/10. Just a really fantastic meal, good service and relaxed friendly atmosphere.

Food was Great! Service was Awful!!! We went there last night for dinner and while the food was fantastic as usual. Our service was a dismal one star and I’m not even sure I’d give her that. It’s been a long time since I have regretted leaving a tip, but last night I did. What I thought as I was writing done my 15% tip, was that it is shared with others. She never came back to the table to refresh our drinks before happy hour was over we had to ask another server. We didn’t order dessert because by the time she finally came back to clear out dishes I was so annoyed at the lack of service I said I’ll just take my check. She checked on us once. Once in an hour!!!! I have reservations for this week that I will now be cancelling because I’m not going to being friends there with that kind of service. Hope you find a way to fix this. Oh and for a Saturday night you could have walked in and gotten a table anytime. Not even close to full. Restaurant was probably at half capacity.

What a treat to stop by LouVino Douglass Hills Restaurant & Wine Bar for lunch recently. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. There is ample seating inside both in the dining area and the bar area. Weather permitting seating is abundant outdoors, too. I had the Umani Double Smash Burger. The burger appeared with two smashed hamburger patties with romaine, smoked bacon, pepper jack cheese, shallots, Pop's pickles with Aioli sauce on a brioche bun. The burger was delicious! It was so large I had to remove one of the patties to be able to conquer such a large offering. My side order was a cup of Sweet potato-based soup which was exceptional. My wife very much enjoyed the Ancient Grain Caprese salad. The salad was presented with red quinoa, farro, fresh Mozzarella, heirloom tomatoes, pesto vinaigrette, mixed greens, a balsamic reduction, and almonds. There was a very good beverage list and vegetarian offerings. There is ample parking. I didn't see a children's menu, but that doesn't mean there isn't one hiding out somewhere. We will return to LouVino's for sure! Enjoy!

10/10 would recommend. Adam was a phenomenal waiter and took very good care of our party Food was excellent (I got the airline chicken) and the atmosphere was very chill. I loved this place and it was my first time going. I’ll be back.

Had a wonderful experience at LouVino last night, I tried their caramelized onions and goat cheese dip, the tots and the Brussels sprouts: 10/10 I highly recommend! Also our server was so kind, the young man in the bar area serving the booths was amazing!

Went there a couple weeks ago for a graduation lunch. I ordered the BLT croissant and although the presentation was aesthetically pleasing, the food itself was not stellar. It’s one of those places for “foodies”, not a place to go if you’re starving for some comfort food. After dining, we all ended up going somewhere else for something more filling

LouVino is definitely one of my favorite places to dine. Most of the servers are great, the atmosphere is nice. I love that the chefs will still make the salmon dish the way they had before the new change recently for me. It's very accommodating and I really appreciate it. The wine and dessert are always amazing too. We love coming to LouVino and will continue.

my guest and I had the bacon wrapped dates and the loaded stuffed potato tots for appetizers. Yummy 😋 I had the waygu beef sliders and my friend had the Steak and fries. they were both very good, they both had delicious sauce on both dinners. We washed it down with Bourbon smashed sangrias. it was so much food the we both had doggie bags. The menu is not large but enough items to choose from. They have a nice wine and alcohol menu. It is a nice casual place to have a drink and a good meal 😉

Everything was delicious and very well prepared. Our server was fantastic. We had other plans that fell through, so we walked in an hour before close - it was no issue. I will definitely be returning. That strawberry sorbet was amazing.

The impression is that this place should be professional and competent, however this is not the case. You shouldn’t have a host that has a face of piercings and can barely audibly speak. The servers and kitchen had food just sitting for several minutes and when the food eventually did arrive it was Luke warm at best and had the appearance of sitting under a heat lamp for several minutes. The food was simply salty with no real taste and had the distinction of pre packaged frozen entrees. This is the epitome of restaurant snobbery. Thinking you are more than what your abilities allow.

Happy Valentine’s Day. Made a reservation almost a week ago for 1 PM. Arrive 20 minutes early left at 10 minutes after 1pm when not a single server had visited us except the lady working the front counter brought us some water. If you weren’t going to be able to serve people you should’ve been closed today, thanks for nothing. Also at this establishment was a server wearing yoga pants T-shirt, and had more metal on her face than I have in my vehicle. Not very professional and certainly not something you should have waiting on clients at a place that charges $19 for a hamburger. Sadly we have been here many times, or I would’ve never booked it today. Get it together or you’ll be out of business.

Dinner for 3 on 8/5/2023 @ ~$180 with wine. Bacon wrapped dates were good, goat cheese was okay, but the entrees (salmon, steak and frites, and Gnocchi) were completely flavorless, with the Gnocchi qualifying as a near disaster of disappointment. Our server placed the wrong order and was frankly, slow at best. The only real upside was the "beignet" (more like a homemade biscuit doughnut) stuffed with cookie dough was pretty darn good. LouVino Douglass Hills' atmosphere is nice and has amazing potential, but if Jeff Ruby's is averaging 4.7/5, LeMoo a 4.4/5, and Fat Lamb a 4.6/5 then the food at this place is a no more than a 1/5.

My husband and I took my Mother in Law who was visiting for dinner. Louvino is my favorite restaurant in town for the reasons I will share here. We sat outside and it was a beautiful evening. Our server Haley was amazing. She was familiar with the menu and wine options including the seasonal “orange” wine themes and was very amiable. The food was delicious. We highly recommend the pork chop if they leave it on the menu (PLEASE), I had the shrimp and grits which was fantastic. We also had Scallops on a fried green tomato YUM. My MIL had the salmon which she also enjoyed. A staple they have which I always enjoy is the Brussels sprout salad. We also had the pumpkin pie which was so fresh and light tasting. It truly was an incredible meal. I’ve also had and recommend the beignets. Service is great, atmosphere is charming, Food is delicious and prices are fair. We highly recommend Louvino for a wonderful experience.

New menu looks fun and delicious. The seafood risotto was a little bland. Miss the mushroom risotto. The airline chicken was spectacular. Breading and gravy was on point. Great service as always!

I went to a bridal shower here and had an amazing time! The food was fabulous and thoughtful. Our server Jada was so impressive with taking care of our party. I will absolutely be back for my family’s events. This place was perfect.

There were bread plates on the table, but they didn’t serve bread. When we asked for it (to go with the hot soup ordered), the waitress said it would be $2.00 and would take 15 minutes. The bread arrived 20 minutes later and by the time the soup was cold. We ordered hot tea, but Louvino had none. The food was certainly not as good as we expected. I was at Louvino about 5 years ago for dinner with my husband. It was absolutely delicious. What has happened???

Came here for brunch with my wife and a few of our friends. Atmosphere was great and the vibes were good. I got biscuits ‘N gravy with a side of loaded tots. My wife got Pancake Tacos and said she loved them. Food was great. The loaded tots are a MUST GET. We will come back again!

The food was below subpar. Some things like the "frites" and ricotta gnocchi tasted like flavorless slop. Completely overpriced for the quality (and quantity) of food we all received. We spent about $35 per person. The service was somehow worse. Our waitress did not give us her name but she was rushing us to order, kept walking away mid-sentence while still talking to us, and delayed giving a drink to the child we had with us for nearly ten minutes. She made sure to ask about alcohol multiple times before getting the little one situated with some water, which was completely deplorable and immediately soured the mood of our visit. The berry on top? Our food came out in sections. Child meal first, which was fine, but then the next three entrées came out over the course of 15 minutes, and THEN our appetizers came a further several minutes later. Oh, and we were unable to order the appetizers along with our entrées because our waitress left mid-sentence again. Very unprofessional. My friend told me this place (let alone this location) was worth trying. In the middle of our meal, I broke the news to her that I will not be returning and I honestly cannot in good conscience recommend this location to anyone else in the future.

For our first time dining at Lou Vino, we opted for options all around! Wine flights and shareables were the way to go. The fried chicken tacos were unlike anything I’ve ever had and SO good. The Brussels sprouts salad was delicious. The loaded tots and their dipping sauce quite literally made our mouths water at first bite. The scallops & fried green tomatoes were delightful. And do yourself a favor- get the Parmesan truffle frites. All of the wine flights were well worth the try! We will certainly be back!

Service 4/5 - started poor, got better. Worsened, got better. LOL Food 4/5 - very good - not "great" (see below) Reserved table for 15 for Mothers Day - if you have a special menu with a $50 plate charge you should share that at time of reservation. $50 for teenagers in a large group isn't necessary

  • 5/5 Alexandra T. 1 year ago on Google
This is not a small plates place. Definitely full meals and not stuff you can share. Other than the appetizers that is. I think it’s misrepresented on Google and likely should be changed. The menu is great though! Definitely worth a visit while you’re in Louisville. I don’t think this location is for tourist though. It’s in the middle of a neighborhood area and very clearly a family type setting. When we walked in, a bunch of outsiders, we definitely got looked at. So maybe stick to the downtown location if you’re not from Louisville but it’s still worth a visit.

We stopped to avoid huge holiday crowds and because of the other good reviews. Reservations helped with immediate seating. The decor and ambiance was nice. We ordered a bunch of stuff to try. The biscuit appetizer is huge and more than enough for two ppl. The chef scramble was good but the side salad was a little tired. The brussel sprout salad was eclectic. It wasn't a favorite. This is on the higher end pricing but worth a visit. The mimosa flights looked so good. Would recommend a stop. It was a nice brunch date

Great vibe in the dining room. Had a birthday lunch here. Wish they assisted a little more with special occasions but service was good. The lunch menu is solid. We had chicken tacos and fish tacos. Wish there were a few healthier fresh selections for lunch. Mash potatoes in a chicken taco made it go downhill on calorie count. It was very Southern and home cooking which appeals to many. Still 5 stars for being open for lunch and great service.

First Time Diners Executive Chef – Jackson Skelton did a cooking class we attended and while preparing the dishes he talked about LouVino and since we had never been we decided to try a Friday evening dinner with reservations. I really didn't know what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. One of our favorite small plate restaurants had recently closed and we were on the lookout for a new dining venue and the selections we made including dessert were delicious and well portioned. Toasted Ravioli, Black Bean Enchiladas – Vegetarian, Seared Scallops followed by dessert. The waitress informed us the the Black Bean Enchiladas were spicy and I have yet to order a enchilada anywhere that we were forewarned about spice and we thought how spicy could it be? Spicy to me is if it makes me cry, well, I did not cry but I was so happy to finally have a enchilada with mole that would let me know it had some kick to it. We are going back for the enchiladas without a doubt!! The service was timely and the wait staff attentive. The food is delicious and the small plates are plenty for two adults. We ordered three small plates which left room for dessert. Needless to say we are so happy we attended the cooking class and learned about LouVino since we now have a new small plates venue to dine.
