We saw Cabaret and loved it! The theatre is beautiful! The building and grounds are lovely. It would be a great place to spend an afternoon even without seeing a play.

Simply a phenomenal evening, well worth my time. Always a pleasure to visit. The efficient staff make all aspects run smoothly. A comfortable place in an idyllic setting. I'm not sure what the construction is out front, but it doesn't seem to intrude upon the interior. Alabama Arts was back and didn't disappoint in the slightest. Wow, at the presentation and diversity. A marvelous celebration of an eclectic group of individuals.

We attended opening night of IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE. Not sure what we were expecting, but this was one of the best performances we have ever seen! I highly recommend this show! Incredible performances by the entire cast!

Bought season tickets and have seen two performances so far. The staff is amazing. The decorations for the holiday were beautiful. Really enjoyed Its a Wonderful, the actors were fantastic and funny and did a great job. Jubilee really wowed us as well, the singers were exceptional. Looking forward the the rest of the season.

A large park complex with theatre and a free fine art facility. We saw Cabaret and it was very good. Not a bad seat in the house. The art museum has an outdoor exhibit sculpture garden which was great.

I had a really great time here. They delivered an A - Tier performance with an enjoyable presentation of music, stagecraft and spoken word that I found captivating with few breaks in the immersion. The set was well done, with a hybrid of digital and practical effects, along with some physical efforts to break the forth wall, with a well done and moving score. I felt involved from the onset. The cast and crew were faithful to the original content to such a degree that I found new gems within their performance.

We've had season tickets the past few years and it has been the best investment of date nights ever! There are different stages/rooms and every seat has a great view. The box office is amazing if you need to reschedule for any reason. Alcoholic beverages & snacks are served and you may take them into the play. You feel incredibly connected with the cast members & I have never left disappointed. From plays that range from Shakespeare (midsummer night's dream, taming of the shrew, Macbeth) to a wide range of entertainment (Little shop of Horrors, Cinderella, a Christmas carol) and even the powerful and inspiring story of The Freedom Riders. We are so fortunate to live close to this amazing talent and will continue to support this beautiful theater.

Had a great experience here watching a Christmas classic. If you've never been, do yourself a favor and go at least once because there's nothing else like it in Alabama. The production was top notch. And even my hyper 8yo soon stayed glued to the action.

Show was great. There's not a bad seat in the theater! Cast was diverse and very talented. There wasn't a lead which allowed all the ladies to showcase their talents.

Cramped seating. I am a large man and knees touched the seats in front of me. I am only 6 ft. tall. Also the seat cushion was lacking in comfort. Compressed the cushion entirely. My location in the theatre was what I could afford which was on the steep side. I wear hearing aids and I missed a lot that was said on stage. I don't think the actors were wearing microphones. Just a unhappy experience for me.

After several years away from the theater, I took my daughter to see the Tempest last weekend. There had been some remodeling done since my last visit and the place looked beautiful. All the actors in the performance were wonderful, especially our beloved Greta Lambert! It was a wonderful experience!

This is about as โ€œculturalโ€ as this city gets. Lived in Montgomery for 11 years and it was as backwards and culturally stunted as it could get. Welcome to Alabama!๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿป

I have been going to this theatre for over 25 years and always a pleasure. That put their heart and soul into every production and it shows. I hope you be coming back for another 25 years ๐Ÿ˜

If you've never been to Alabama or if you want to experience a truly wonderful theater production, check this place out Gorgeous area to take pictures all year round and I highly recommend. You can visit the museum and see wonderful works, have a picnic while you feed the ducks, take your dogs to the dog park, or just enjoy the serene and beautiful atmosphere.

This facility is an excellent place to see performances. Iโ€™ve attended shows in the small theater and the large, main theater. The spaces are comfortable with clear views of the stage. The performances Iโ€™ve seen have been top quality.

This was my first visit in over two years I'm sorry to say. It's always an excellent experience of entertainment and never disappointing. I'm told that they have just recently finished expanding the gift shop, upgrading the AC and heating, bathrooms and some of the stages. I saw the expansion of the gift shop though it wasn't open at the time I was there(9pm). I didn't have to visit the bathroom and I couldn't vouch for the AC/Heat upgrade .or the stage. However, the stage was used to it's fullest capacity by the troupe of singers/actors. They covered every inch of it in their performance of musically telling of the history of the original Jubilee Singers . The young troupe are from Fisk University traveling around the country and if you get the opportunity to see the performance, please do so.

This place is honestly a gift. Every time I experience a play, I feel the better for it. I've seen multiple here at the Shakespeare festival. I have invited friends and family, and sometimes just came here for myself like a getaway. Not once have I seen something I didn't enjoy. Quite honestly, I've been shocked at how much I do enjoy these performances that on paper didn't seem to interest me. It's almost like a challenge now. When you walk in, the theater itself holds so much history, and the park that surrounds it makes you feel as though you're in another place and time entirely. My first play was the Tempest, around 2003 I believe and I was a teenager. I have been entranced ever since.

Wonderful show! Great cast.... pulled the audience of children in, and kept them enthralled! Not an easy task with our students! Bravo! Kudos for the "Ice Queen" And THIS bench in the gardens behind the theater.... is where my sweet husband proposed to me. It was broken then, and we jokingly call it "our broken bench"LOL But I come here to take our children's pictures here on it every year, we take anniversary pictures on it...every year. It holds a very special place in my heart.

I knew from photos that this place was gorgeous outside, but I didn't realize that it was attached to a park. It was much bigger than I expected. Everywhere I turned was a new delight, from the fountain to the beautiful doors to the statues of children climbing a tree. The play was also unique in that they played clips of interviews on old tvs from people who had been in concentration camps, but they also had actors reenacting scenes in between. Afterwards, they had a discussion about it for those who wanted to stay for that. It was a lovely experience. Well worth the $30 ticket. I can't wait to go back!

Alabama Shakespeare Festival is a top performance, state of the art theater. The history of it's beginnings is very interesting and the plays that have premiered there over the years rivals Broadway. If you're coming to Montgomery, AL, check the performance schedule and add it to your itinerary.
