For starters, I completely understand the walk up shack style eatery, but I did dock one star solely on the lack of not having anywhere inside or outside to sit and eat. It’s perfect for picking up an order to take home. The other star from making this a perfect 5, and I never thought I’d ever say this, but it’s entirely too heavy on the sauce. The original smoke and seasoning flavors are lost in the extremely wet pulled pork and ribs. However, the taste is still great. I would definitely return. This place has been serving the community for over 50yrs and for damn good reason.

Driving through Montgomery, this restaurant was out only stop. While it is not located in the fanciest part of town, our family was so happy we stopped. (Carry out Only) We were greeted by the great granddaughters of the original owners, and her friendliness was the best part of Alabama! It was close to closing time and she could not have been more gracious. We tried the fish sandwich, fish platter, chicken sandwich, chopped pork sandwich and plate, nothing was fancy, but it was so so good. The seasonings were perfect and the serving sizes huge. The fish has the bones in it, just like she warned us so know that ahead. The BBQ has a lot of finger licking good sauce, but it's a lot not your dry rub variety. Side dishes were amazing! Potato salad, fries and baked beans-. Yummy! We would definitely stop again! Thank you for your hospitality Brenda's!

Was in Montgomery for a one day business thing... Looked up Best Bar B Que in town... Was Not Disappointed! Outstanding Flavor, you could see the hickory smoke, & the potato salad was some of the best I've ever had! Brenda's is Top Notch!!!

Loved the food! Friendly service too! Easy parking for hassle free pick up! Food was good and warm ❤️ meat was fresh, sides were good. Really recommend this local spot! You can tell the food was fresh! The people that helped us were kind and helpful! The flavor was unique I am a fan of bbq and travel all over the south this place is great! Simple and easy menu with everything you would expect. We will be back to try more items soon.

We just stopped by for a quick lunch. The chicken is phenomenal. Be sure to bring cash as it is cash only. I really hate seeing comments about the neighborhood it is in. Obviously, the neighborhood has seen "better days." This area has dealt with all kind of racial injustice issues for decades. Hope the folks running Brenda's are proud of themselves for maintaining their business and doing a fantastic job of it. We will stop by next time we are going through Montgomery.

we LOVE the Pork Ribs Plate, made the way ribs are supposed to be made, IMO: already sauced up. Wash your face and change your shirt when you're done sauced up. Potato Salad and Cole Slaw were also excellent tasting

First time visiting, the food was delicious. Its located in the hood, but thats where the best food is 😋The ribs were seasoned good, tender. I got the rib sandwich, about 5 nice sized bones and french fries. I had been craving ribs and this did not disappoint. I will definitely go back.

Great, smelling absolutely tasty food, we will definitely visit this bbq spot again when we visit Montgomery, AL. We had the rib plate with double order fries & the chopped pork sandwich with potato salad and baked beans. All the plates appear to come with two sides. The food smelled so good, we never got a picture. CASH ONLY.

The food was very good. The staff members were very friendly and helpful. The overall environment was very clean. I was just a little disappointed with a portion of the meat. I was supposed to get 4 bones, but instead I didn't get but 3 bones and a end tip of the slab that was too tough to eat. Other than that I will still continue to support Brenda's.

I REALLY Enjoyed the Food!!! The Customer Service is Top Notch!(Very Kind and Polite Cashier!) My First Visit May 13, 2023. Will NOT be my last for Sure. I ordered the Rib Sandwich and the Pig Ear Sandwich. Both Sandwich's were SO GOOD!!!! If I can Give Brenda "A Trillion Star's"⭐️🌟✨ I would. We visited Montgomery, AL for the Honda Battle of the Bands. When we inquired about good, local place to eat, Brenda's BBQ was highly recommended. We were not disappointed. The BBQ plate was DELICIOUS. Big meaty ribs, thick cut fries, and yummy coleslaw and GOOD SAUCE! The folks serving the food and waiting in line were all friendly. Good vibes! Definitely worth the money and we will revisit the next time we are in Montgomery.

Great southern cooked food. Brenda's has been around and in the 'hood for many years! My mother likes their pig ear sandwiches. She's been frequenting this place since she was in college which was back in the late 1960s.

Beware- Cash Only & it’s a walk up! I enjoy the ribs, baked beans , and Potato Salad(sometimes). I’m NOT a fan of the pull pork , it’s too wet and they always over power the sandwich with sauce. I would enjoy the potato salad more if it was not too wet tasting. This restaurant has been in business for over 50 years, For A Reason! It needs to be featured on Food Network or Good Eats! Best BBQ Pit ribs in the Neighborhood- in Montgomery! Travelers .. Don’t miss a treat! Same menu! They do deserve 5 stars!

You can immediately tell pulling up that this place is legit and has so much history. Had the rib plate with coleslaw and potato salad and everything was top notch. I would not go there after dark though as the area is really rough. Was approached by two crackheads while ordering lunch.

Out of this world BBQ in a tiny hole-in-the-wall location in the middle of nowhere. Absolutely perfect. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, just go already!

Visited 05AUG2023 - First time visiting. Not difficult to get to using GPS. Plenty of parking available. Ordering is outside the front of the building through a window. There is only take-out/to-go service while you wait outside, so there's not much for atmosphere. Food came fast. Ordered the rib plate with potato salad and baked beans. Ribs were tender but drenched in sauce. I should've ordered sauce on the side. I will add that a lot of rib meat came with the order. Baked beans seemed like they were out of a can. Potato salad was really good. I also ordered a pig ear sandwich which was tasty. I haven't had pig's ear in several decades. The pig ear was between 2 slices of white bread with ketchup and mustard.

15 bucks and they give you 4 bones and a 2 ends. They most have changed grillmasters cause the meat has been tough last 4 times I went. All different times. But this time the BBQ sauce was spicy. Somebody changed the sauce recipe again.

Made a small detour for lunch in Montgomery on the way to Muscle Shoals last week. Found a wee bit off the beaten path and with a take out only dining option, Brenda's did not disappoint. My rib plate had several meaty ribs seasoned properly, smoked to perfection and served with a generous amount of really good sauce. One lunch will easily serve 2. Their pulled pork leaves nothing to be desired in it's perfection. The last bite of the sammy was as good as the first. Masterfully smoked, each bite was juicy and succulent. The slaw, potato salad and baked beans were satisfyingly home made, delicious and generously portioned. Even the iced tea and homemade lemonade was Bussin'! You know in the South, the only part of the hog we don't use is the squeal! With this in mind, I tried my first Pig Ear sammy! It was tasty, smoked and serve on light bread with mustard, ketchup and hot sauce. While the taste was good, the texture took a bite or two to get used to. Would defo have another one!

This place has smoked perfect barbecue for decades. Every time we go, the barbecue is exceptional. Even the barbecue chicken is tasty "to the bone"! I hope they will always be in operation. It may be a small brick building - it's a "mega giant" in what it does!

Absolutely the best BBQ ribs in Montgomery. 5-6 bones in a sandwich. You can't beat that with an egg beater. Pig ears were very tender and good as well. I was sad that they don't sell the mini sweet potato pies anymore...how tragic 😒☹

I came down and a friend from Montgomery brought me here. Some of the best BBQ I've ever had. Great size portions and mmm mmm good!!!!

Brenda’s did not disappoint. Being from Iowa, I chickened out on the pig ears but everyone who ordered after me did. Now I am left wondering what I am missing out on. Will stop again on our way to Florida next year.

First time in Montgomery and we were looking for great BBQ. The ribs, chicken, and pork, were out of this world amazing. I’d almost drive two hours from Atlanta just to visit Brenda’s.
