Locally owned BBQ that's been here for years. Somehow this was my first time and I stopped by on a whim. I was very pleased with my decision and left full. The pulled pork was excellent and the corn nuggets and mac and cheese were good. I like the local feel and the service was polite and very fast. The portions were large and the price was barely over ten dollars. This type of place must be protected but with the full parking lot full thirty minutes until closing I think they will be around for a while

Loved this bbq joint. My wings were exceptional. Fries were right on. Pulled pork sandwich was quite tasty. Atmosphere was down to earth. Pricing was the best I have come across in three years.

Probably the best bar bq and customer service in Alabama. I ordered a bar bq sandwich, fries and drink. It was all really good. Went back the next day for breakfast and ordered the pancakes. Kinda small but really good. Excellent customer service!

What barbecue should be. The BEST ribs I've ever had. The sides are wonderful, outstanding potato salad and I'm a pro on that. The building is great and the inside is what a barbecue house should look like. If you live within 50 miles of this place and don't go here, you're a moron.

Overall not bad, but I expected more. I've received both praise and warning about Fat Man's. After trying it out for myself, I decided that it's not bad, but not incredible. Generally, the ribs were good, a little tough for my taste, but they fell off the bone just fine. The barbecue sauce wasn't terrible, but also wasn't terrific (I'd recommend the white sauce over the traditional). The potato salad was pretty good, but the Mac and Cheese had no flavor. In a word, I was simply whelmed with the food, not overwhelmed or underwhelmed, just whelmed. All things considered, would I go back? Sure, if I was with friends who wanted to go, I would go with, but definitely not on my own.

Just moved to Montgomery and looked up BBQ places and Fat Man's was close by. My daughter and both got the Plate with two sides and a drink for $9 each. The generous helping of BBQ was hot and delicious as was the sides we chose, Baked Beans, Potato Salad, Mac & Cheese and Corn Nuggets! It also came with a slice of bread and two small BBQ Sauces! I'll be eating this at least once a week for a while!

First time here and had the ribs plate, and wife had the wings. Both were great tasting and tender. I will definitely go again. *UPDATE* I have been two more times and have eaten the wings and the 1/4 chicken meals. Both were very good. There was a pretty good line both times but it moved very quickly. Fat Man's provide great meal at reasonable prices!

It’s a no for me. None of the bbq had a crisp crust like to should have when coming off of a grill, everything was rubbery. The fat on the chicken was rubbery not charred like from a grill. If they said it was all cooked in an oven I would believe them. On the plus side the customer service was wonderful. Sorry, the bbq is just not for me.

Hands down, the best BBQ in all of Montgomery. If this place isn't on a list of must visit restaurants in Alabama, it should be, and at the top. Yes, Dreamland, Jim and Nicks, and Shane's are all good, but this place is better, much better. The meat is seasoned and smoked to such tender, juicy, flavorful perfection, that it absolutely does not need any sauce. I could eat an entire pulled pork sandwich or a rack of ribs without any sauce at all, however, the sauces at Fatman's are so delicious I can't resist them. The owner, Ben Allen, has a great group of people working for him. He and his staff love all their customers and you can taste that love through the food. Put this place on your list, you won't regret it.

The food is good here, but I'm concerned with their cleaning practices or lack thereof. Just there recently to pick up some food ordered over the phone and while I was waiting, saw two roaches crawling on the floor in front of the register and around the corner near the kitchen area. This restaurant needs a deep clean! The health inspector was obviously teleworking the day this place was last inspected. I won't be back...

One of the best BBQ places I've been to outside of Texas! Extremely fast service! When I say fast, I mean: You tell them you're order when you walk in, they hand it to the register, you pay, fill up your drink, and they're calling your name to pick up your food before you get a lid and straw. The rib tips are delicious and tender, definitely recommend! Sorry, no photos, couldn't wait to dig in.

Cole slaw was good. Baked beans tasted like warmed up from porkn bean can at grocery store. Need way more flavor. Bbq pork good. Wish they had corn bread!

The food was great. The table was clean, but not much else. The ceiling around the AC blower was filthy. A man took our order, and by the time we paid, it was ready for pickup at the next window. The "tea" (included) was bearly colored water. NO taste. This was my second time there, my wife's first, and probably our last. Just too dirty, even for a BBQ joint.

The service & atmosphere were great. The price point was excellent. The food was a bit lacking, though. The ribs were somewhat subpar. The pulled pork sandwich was pretty decent, though. The Mac and cheese also seemed meh. The issue may have just been that we were there near the end of the day, so we weren't getting the freshest food.

Great BBQ. Very smokey so if you like smoke as I do is good and the prices are excellent. Place is always full but they get you in and out quick.

Good basic barbecue food. Prices bit high. Would've given higher rating but the place was absolutely filthy! Nothing worse than a filthy restaurant! Not a gas station convenience store. Will not go there again. Just gross! Bunch of workers there. Teach them how to clean... PROPERLY. Fresh, clean painting inside and out will attract many more customers!

The service was pretty good even though one of my orders was wrong but the person it was for said that her food was still good. The food would have been rated more but two of the orders had cold chicken. And the ones who got lemonade said that it was watered down and not good. My food was delicious and I was impressed with the speed at checkout and a nice man helped me make all my drink orders and get them to the vehicle. I appreciated that.

Excellent food and customer service. Always fast when you're in a hurry. They are open for breakfast and lunch, but I often grab food and save it for dinner. For under $30, I grab 2 pulled pork plates and an extra medium side. It's enough to feed a family of 4 and still have some left over. Great overall value.

First time customers and we loved it. The BBQ Sandwich with a side and drink was only $7.00. The quality was outstandingly good. Everyone in our group of 5 was delighted with their lunches. Also the funnel cake fries were Great! And were only $3.00. A true local gem. We'll be back whenever we are in town.

Disclaimer: Barbecue has to be real bad for me to not like it. The ribs were excellent. I could’ve eaten them all without sauce and been satisfied, but I like sauce and the sauce was good. The turnip greens were excellent. Some of the best I’ve had at a restaurant. I also think it is great that you can get banana pudding as a side.

I decided to try the rib tips today and I got something that certainly was not rib tips. Gross!! I won't be trying that again.

It’s always good!!! My only complaint is they offer Pepsi products, and I can’t stand Diet Pepsi since they took out the Aspartame. 😂 The salad with bbq or chicken is fantastic. I typically use their bbq sauce instead of salad dressing.

Stopped here last night, ( in a semi truck with 53' trailer) they were closed but had enough room for me to turn around and park off to the side. Got breakfast this morning and was greeted with two beautiful smiling faces. Very friendly, faster than most fast food places, and the food was awesome, fresh and hot. Will be back and look forward to trying some of the other food they offer.
