I took my fiance to the ER yesterday at 4:40 PM due to an infected ingrown toenail. The local urgent care was not open and other urgent cares advised me they won't treat ingrown toenails (I called). As he is a Type 1 diabetic, it was urgent that we took care of this infection. While in the waiting room, we witnessed a man/visitor having issues with the vending machine taking his money and not providing the food (donuts for a young child). He called the maintenance, who showed up soon after, collected his donuts, and left them at the front desk for the visitor to pick up. The registration lady gave them to someone else (another registration clerk) and she ate them. The visitor came to get the donuts for the child, as the maintenance man called him and let him know where they were, but the registration lady acted dumbfounded while the one who ate them hid behind a wall laughing. There were several more instances where the registration employees were making fun of others while laughing at the patients. After waiting three hours in the waiting room and others with less severe "injuries/sicknesses" being called back before him, he was finally triaged then taken back. From 7PM to 10:30PM, they had collected labs and that was it. After collecting labs, I heard the nurses tell the physician that my fiancΓ©'s blood sugar was 485. Two hours passed and I had finally had enough and told them we were leaving and going to another hospital. That is when they brought in a bag of IV antibiotics for him, not even addressing the spiked blood sugar. We left and went to Baptist Health Floyd where they had him back in a room, diagnosed him with DKA, and were actively treating him within 2 hours (fluids, insulin, antibiotics, blood work, and xrays). Save your time and go elsewhere.

I went into Harrison County Hospitol for EKG and Bloodwork on 9-15-2023. I showed up at 8:05am with no appointment. I registered and was taken care of promptly by people that were very kind and respectful. They also have a program to recognize veterans that is very touching. That includes your administrative wristband is red, white and blue ti designate you as a veteran, they give you an American flag pin and if a veteran ever passes away in the hospital they play taps. I see many low reviews of this hospital and I have to say I saw nothing but, professional, helpful people, that went out of their way to take care of me. Thank you HCH.

My primary care and ortho are here, I would never go up town I have and have always had excellent care, in the ED, but try not to use it unless it's a real emergency, it does take a while to wait, but basically you are asking for the results of an inpatient stay in the span of a couple of hours. You don't know how many true emergencies are coming in the back door. The staff is always friendly and courteous, but I know you usually get what you give out in life.

I worked here 89 days. Terrible managers over housekeeping and pretty bad human resources representatives. I did enjoy the security guards, floor tech Joseph (who has quit also), the emergency room staff/nurses and many of the housekeepers. The hospital isn't kept very clean and when i tried to clean appropriately-they tried to write me up several times. I don't recommend them for employment since the wages are low and their benefits don't even pay much of the cost of care at their own hospital...but you do accrue PDO days quickly. (Keep in mind you can't get them if you don't last 90 days) you do have to pay for your own uniforms, but a great thing is the cafeteria food is affordable.

Went in to the ER for high blood pressure 210/115. Doc said I was hung over because one of my symptoms was a headache. Everyone knows that is one of the major symptoms. I was insulted multiple times by this doc. He ordered a head ct for no reason. The only thing good about my experience was the nurse that even apologized for the doc. I had to ask the doctor to give me blood pressure medicine because he was sure that I was just hung over. He said my high blood pressure was a result of my head not the other way around. . I complained to the hospital because I thought I should not have to pay as much as they were wanting for the terrible service. I have never been there amble received decent service. I will die before I ever go back to that hospital again

Went in about 9pm last night with kidney stones. It was almost 3hrs before I was given anything for pain. Seen Dr 3times for a total of maybe 2 minutes. Said they were short staffed but there were nurses just setting around talking about their lives. When released there were no other patients. Worst experience ever at the hospital.

Small, quiet, rural hospital, but right on a major highway. Excellent nurses and CNAs! Highly recommended. If they don’t have the equipment to perform the needed surgeries they will take you to another hospital who has what you need. Three times in the ER for my mother over the past year have gone very smoothly and quickly. Staff in the ER are very professional and attentive. Rehab staff is wonderful!! Meals were very healthy and deliciousπŸ‘πŸ»

Never been treated so terribly in my entire life. The triage nurse actually came back into my room trying to fight me, that’s how ghetto this place is. Wouldn’t treat my migraine so i had to leave to go to another hospital. Dont waste your time

I am from out of state. My visit to the ER was great overall. They are a great team and worked together really well to make me comfortable and help me get well. They were quick too. My visit was 5 hours total but that was due to my illness and needing to be monitored with repeat labs. The facility was clean and comfortable and I had a good amount of privacy. My physician was communicative and professional and the nursing team was amazing. I especially want to say a thank you to Rosie the sweet volunteer. I feel they all went above and beyond and I’d be comfortable to take my family members there without hesitation! You have a gem of a hospital in this county.

My 11 month old was in the ER for head trauma, we watched SEVERAL people get called back before us. 2 hours we waited for A BABY to be seen for HEAD TRAUMA. Her father finally had enough and told the person who checked us in, either we get called back RIGHT NOW or we are leaving. We went to Floyd and went STRAIGHT to a room after we told them what happened at this TRASH HEAP you call a hospital. HARRISON COUNTY HOSPITAL CARES NOTHING FOR BABIES

I have been very disappointed with the care my sister is receiving. This is our 3rd er visit for the same complaint. On our 3rd visit, I feel like she would have been ignored if I was not here. Her machines beeped for at least 3 to 4 minutes. I go to the door to tell someone, and her nurse says oh I'm coming. Like when?? He leaves and her other machine starts beeping. Another 3 to 4 minutes I go to the door AGAIN for them to look up at their monitors, go oh, and turn it off from there. It was the most lazy and uncaring thing I have seen in an er. No checking on her. No watching the machines until I say something. VERY DISAPPOINTED

Took my wife into ER this morning with a skin problem they blew us off and never gave her anything. When I questioned them they acted upset. Could have done better at a Walmart with a nurse. She should at least been given an antibiotic. They won't have any problem charging our insurance a crazy figure for doing nothing I'm sure. Update.. Had to take my wife the next day to our primary care doctor because she was getting worse and a young nurse practitioner took blood. And within 24 hrs she was diagnosed with Alpha Gal which is a serious condition caused by a tick bite. They quickly put her on steroids and after 3 days she is getting better. The hospital blew the rash off as chiggers took a blood test and still haven't contacted us. If I hadn't followed up with my doctor she could have been serious by now and in the hospital. One things for sure it wouldn't have been Harrison County hospital.

I was treated excellent at this hospital. My husband has also been a patient here and feels the same. He has gotten required tests done here and was treated most graciously. He had some serious health issues and was recommended to another hospital in Louisville. While here at Harrison County he was treated wonderfully. He was kept comfortable as possible and was properly well taken care of. The doctor was very knowledgeable and professional and treated us well with a down to earth and understandable way of speaking and we both fully understood about my husbands health needs. I was also a patient here for a few days and was treated excellent.

My son and I were in a serious car accident last summer in Harrison county where we were T-boned by a driver who ran a stop sign then hit an tree at 60 MPH, and I was rushed to Harrison County Hospital for care. The care that I received by EMS, ER and imaging staff was superior. Everyone was not only kind to me during a traumatic situation, but incredibly knowledgeable as well. We are lucky to have such an outstanding rural hospital.

There is no place I’d rather go for labor and delivery! The staff are friendly and eager to help without seeming overbearing. I’ve gone here twice, in 2020 and 2022. Both experiences have been fantastic! The rooms are spacious and comfortable and CLEAN. Such a great hospital filled with a caring staff!

This place is immaculately clean and the patient to employee ratio is great. As a caregiver for a dementia patient, she was well cared for everytime we were there several times over a number of years. Her CNA Holly on the Med-SURG unit was fantastic and I think it is a testimony to how they treat their employees that we were able and to have the same caring, loving CNA time after time. Also, happy employees are better employees. Once, upon arrival to the ER via ambulance, mom had multiple tests (EKG, blood and chest X-rays) completed before I was even able to arrive in my car, leaving my home at the same time as the ambulance. I LOVE THIS FACILITY AND THEIR EMPLOYEES! They even ensured I had meals and was able to shower while staying with Mom. Thank you so much to HCH!!

Took a blow to the head by a metal pole, and came to the ER to be checked out. Very nice facility, expedient and friendly staff. Took care of me quickly, and I was back home in record time. Since we're new to the area, I am so glad to know that this facility is nearby and offers such good care.

So disgusted with my visit tonight. Sick as heck and about ready to pass out and waiting over an hour. No one was called back to the E.R. I know I needed IV fluids. Then a lady and man walks in and she tells the receptionist that she is Covid positive. No special arrangements for her seating. I left. I sure don't need exposure to Covid.

I would give a zero if possible. I tested positive for covid. I'm in so much pain I've thought about suicide. I go into the emergency room tell them how I'm feeling. They stick me in a room I set there two hours without being seen. So I walked out now I'm setting at home in my driveway thinking what to do end this pain. The room they stuck me in was disgusting . Dried blood on floor wall . Straws rubber bands peices of paper . Slaughter house floors are cleaner than that ER

#1 for ER visits! We had a 3 hour wait today because the ER was more crowded than I had ever seen before. I've only been here a few times with my kids, but usually you wait less than 20 min. Today was busy, but worth the wait. The staff are very friendly and caring. Kelsey, nurse practitioner, was the best. She was very knowledgeable in explaining my inner ear problem and super empathetic! 5 stars!

Brought my son in the ER to get stitches on his busted lip and they did awesome! One person I really appreciated was a male nurse named Aaron or Erin. He was awesome with him. He kept him calm and let him know every step and talked him through the stitching process. Fine job!

Worst hospital ive ever been to. My mother was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and pancreatitis. the last doctor she had sent her home saying nothing was wrong with her while she was in tears and when they sent her tester and insulin to be filled at cvs they didn’t right how often to check it or how to use insulin. She never used insulin before. don’t recommend this hospital for anyone. This is just 1 of my many bad experiences with them.

HCH has always been there when I’ve needed it. ER , minor surgery, and convenient diagnostics without making a drive.
