One of my favourite National Trust properties. The gardens are amazing, the views are incredible and the castle history is fascinating. It is nice to go again and again and watch how the gardens change over the seasons. Had a lovely jam and cream scone sat in the sunny courtyard. I always find that the staff are very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit.

Brilliant Day out with lots to see. This is especially good if you are a National Trust member otherwise you will have to pay the entry costs. The Gardens are the main attraction especially on a dry day. However there are lots more to see in the castle so also a good day out if it's raining

Lovely day out. Very impressive house and gardens. Fantastic views and the gardens where in full bloom and a riot of colour. Glad we travelled out to see the place. Well worth it if you're in the area. Friendly and knowledgeable staff/volunteers. Excellent tea room with high quality home made food. The Peacock stalking the grounds is partial to cake and scones and doesn't always wait to be invited to tea!

Fantastic castle and grounds. Great place to spend a few hours. Came for Easter egg-hunt and trail. Volunteers very helpful and informative. Loved the gardens , beautiful flowers and sculpted hedges and trees. Lots of different areas to explore.

What a beautiful place to come and see. Although it was quite cloudy and drizzly, the views were still stunning. The gardens are the best kept I have ever seen at a NT property. Faultless, beautiful, lush, colourful, clean, and weed free. Total respect and thanks for the team of gardeners that must work tirelessly to keep the gardens in such outstanding conditions. Inside the castle, you are not permitted to take photos. The rooms are quite dark, but there is so much to protect from the sunlight. The painted walls and ceilings are breathtaking. There was so much to look at, and the volunteers were very knowledgeable when questions were asked. I could write so much more, but honestly, you just need to visit to see for yourself!

This is an absolutely fantastic place, The architecture, the beauty of the place and the gardens are absolutely stunning. The size of the place! It's huge and the grounds are extensive! We had an amazing day at a very reasonable price. The only downside was that we ate in the main cafe which was a very big disappointment. The food had to be sent back several times and they'd even missed bringing us another dish. (That wasn't to dampen the beauty of the place though.

What a lovely time we had. Wonderful helpful and knowledgeable staff. Interesting building with a very special atmosphere. Great having bus service back up to either car park or house. Wonderful well kept gardens. Although car park was very full the house and particularly gardens did not feel overcrowded. Some items in house could do with a dust 😉 as you could not see their beauty, but that's only a minor issue. A headphone guide would be useful, I wouldn't mind paying extra for that as we couldn't always get to see the information booklet. But well worth the visit, highly recommend ❤️

One of the best, if not the best National Trust gardens we have visited. We had a glorious day, weather was great and we could take our dogs around the extensive gardens on leads which was great. Plenty of parking and picnic areas plus good facilities and café. The castle visit was interesting however the gardens and landscape was simply the best. So impressive and only 7 full time gardeners, amazing job.

Amazing paints and a marble table I'd loved to have grabbed back home. The car park, free, is big but could be more effective if monitored as most of guests would park either in the middle or too far from other cars. 2 museums and 1 amazing garden, if lucky, guided by talkative peacocks.

Lovely National Trust property. The castle is beautiful inside, it’s still furnished. Unfortunately you can’t take picture inside. We went in a Monday and the place was very popular, the main car park was almost full in early afternoon. They have a coffee shop in the courtyard, with basic but good food. You can also find a deer park here.

Excellent place to visit with large gardens, a castle and museum to enjoy. The views over the valley are stunning (we were very lucky with some brilliant weather) and the plants that were starting to bloom were excellent (if you are interested in gardens). The route to the fountain at the lower tier of the garden is via steps or a flat path, so accessible for all. Seeing everything definitely got our 10k steps in.

This place is definitely worth a visit. The exposition is interesting, the view is stunning and the garden is amazing. The car park is big. We visited the castle on Saturday and the car park looked almost full when we arrived but there was still enough space to park. Despite the number of cars, as the area around the castle is large, the visitors spread and it wasn't overcrowded.

Visited here during half term, they had a pumpkin trail around the garden. Plenty of fun/scary Halloween surprises around the trail. Went in the castle which was very nice. Yes,it is kept quite dark but that's to protect all the wonderful fabrics/tapestries and artwork. So many rooms you can go in really gives a scale of the building. Enjoyed our visit.

One of my favourite National Trust places. As soon as you catch sight of this striking red stone building, you know you're in for a great day. The house is of course, a fascinating place to explore, rich in family history, architecture and decor, but for me, the stunning gardens are worth the entry alone. Wind your way down across beautifully-kept terraces carefully planted with year-round interest, take in the orchard, and pass ancient oaks as you wind your way through the picturesque grounds, to be rewarded with memorable views of the terraces and castle.

Another lovely National Trust site, with the most amazing gardens! The work that must go into the garden maintenance is amazing, they are absolutely stunning. We visited in the autumn, just as the trees were changing colour - would highly recommend this time of year for those interested in photography. Very clearly signposted, and ample parking available. All the staff we spoke to were helpful and happy. Dog friendly site, which is always a bonus! Just be mindful that there are peacocks and peahens wandering around the grounds and courtyard areas. Lovely cafe on site, with a smaller tearoom available on the walk around the garden. Will definitely be returning!

Just wow! The gardens are immaculate! One of the best we've seen. We arrived at 10am Saturday, spent over two hours here exploring. We spent 15mins in the castle, far too crowded and dark. There's plenty of parking at the rear of the castle, it's a one way in and out of the estate and very helpful parking staff to ensure spaces maximised. You show your membership card or pay at the welcome 'hut' by the car park then just show receipts to enter. There are quite a few slopes and steps to contend with so bear that in mind. There are two cafes, one just inside the castle courtyard on the left with some outdoor seating. Or head down to the very bottom of the garden and find another there, with toilets. You're likely to be joined by one of the resident peacocks on the lookout for crumbs! There's also a really well equipped playing field at the bottom right of the gardens, with various sports equipment for kids to play with their families. It was very well used and ensures kids had something to do while adults could enjoy the gardens.

What an amazing place to visit. So much to see and do here. The property is national trust so members can enter for free. Large car park, many toilets, cafe, shop, second hand book shop all close together. Large field full of choldrens games at the bottom of the property . Brilliant day out for all

The gardens are fantastic, well worth a visit. Will definitely be going back as you could spend days wandering around the grounds so much to see. A great selection of plants very well maintained. The castle is also worth a look, as in the café 😀

A pleasant day trip exploring the castle and the garden. Shame that the shop personnel tried to charge us for a guide when she was giving them away to other customers in front of us. The rest of the day was enjoyable.

Possibly the most picture perfect of all the National Trust properties we've visited. The view of the medieval castle from the terraces and lawns below is stunning. Much to explore including paths through the trees, multiple garden areas, orangery, the castle and courtyard. Don't miss the quieter terrace by the castle east entrance for more wonderful views. Allow at least 4 hours here.

What a beautiful day we had. The weather made the garden feel like we were in a European Palace. So well kept and maintained. The volunteers are knowledgeable, polite and friendly. So much garden to walk around and the castle has a lot of history to digest. Disappointed though when going to the restaurant for something substantial to eat and only soup, sandwiches or cake on offer. Although the rhubarb flapjack was very moist and delicious 😋 I lovely day spent here and will be coming back, when we can bring our dog too.

Can't convey how amazing this site is! Spectacular grounds and scenery. Garden is multi levelled and vast Inside the castle you can't photograph but it's one of the best interiors I've seen. King Charles also stayed here as a Prince!

Cool! nice castle, a very well-kept garden that takes you back to times that rejuvenate your spirit and body, the location in the nature center makes this place simply great. Underneath the castle is a place where you can play various games with your family. 16:30 closing time, I recommend it

Absolutely beautiful National Trust property. A relatively gentle 30 minute walk through private grounds down to Welshpool. The house itself has impressive formal gardens and short woodland walks. Cafe and toilets on site. Free for National Trust members.

Such an impressive building and the gardens are stunning. A lovely hidden away cafe in the gardens serving delicious food and you have the perfect combination for an excellent day out.

Fabulous site with amazing terrace gardens. Would recommend aiming to get there for opening or end of the day as a popular attraction for tour buses. While garden does have step free access, worth noting that the alternative route round is alot longer and requires more looping back and forth.

  • 5/5 Kelly E. 6 months ago on Google
Lovely castle. The gardens were absolutely stunning, just amazing to go round and to see. There are a lot of steps though, going up and down so not very accessible for anyone with not great mobility. The castle it self is lovely, nice to wander round... you aren't supposed to take photos inside though. I'd definitely recommend going round the garden and seeing all the beautiful features.

I absolutely loved it here. The castle interior is gorgeous with beautiful painted ceilings and stairway. The museum has lots of interesting treasures from India. The staff are very pleasant and very knowledgeable. They take the time to give a talk about the history of the castle and the past families that have resided there. The gardens are extensive and are immaculately kept. Even though it's now Autumn, there were still lots of colours with dahlias, fuchsias, and cottage garden plants. The yew tree topiary is fascinating and the lawns very green and well looked after. The gardeners work very to keep it looking so nice. Next year, I will visit late spring, early summer as the Rhododendrons will be in flower. This place is definately worth a visit

The gardens were absolutely fabulous. So much so that we will need a second visit to see the castle itself. Highly recommend!

  • 5/5 Robert K. 7 months ago on Google
If you are in Central Wales then I would recommend a visit. The castle is historically interesting with some superb views across the valley. However, the icing on the cake is the garden which is magnificent. If you like topiary then the main hedges are something to behold and the rose gardens are glorious. Thoroughly recommended.

Picked the perfect day weather-wise, a beautifully crisp winter’s day which made for the perfect photo opportunities for such a lovely National Trust site. The tour guides were great and very knowledgeable taking us around the house pointing out fascinating little details in every room and hall. Highly recommended for the house and for its beautiful grounds 😊

  • 5/5 ilona r. 5 months ago on Google
Beautiful gardens and Castle. No photography can be taken inside due to them all belonging to the current Earl. The volunteers friendly and full of information on their areas of the buildings. Cafe gets very busy, also a nice shop, toilets in a separate building and peacocks! It was raining when I visited but that made the autumnal colours striking, pumpkins around the gardens for kids fun. Lovely to wander round the gardens, though it shut at 4pm so missed a few places. Photograph the map on entry! The herd of deer where out in the rain but I was too soggy to look round there area, no dogs allowed there but allowed in the gardens

Visited using our free national trust pass. Well thought the it was very well maintained. Guides inside were very informative and easy to talk to and ask questions. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great so we missed out the gardens as it was very overcast and mizzle. We both had some food in the cafe which was lovely too.

  • 5/5 Dave W. 7 months ago on Google
Magnificent house with a fascinating history. We'll kept gardens and plenty for the kids to do. The gardens are a bit steep in places but plenty of benches to rest on, but on the plus side the views are terrific.

A stunning National Trust Property. The grounds are picture perfect and have resident peacocks roaming the paths and lawns outside. They really are a wonderful addition. Inside the property, there are so many interesting things to see. The portrait of Lady Eleanor Percy later Powis opposite her book of hours was great. There was plenty of choice in the cafe and an ice cream stall outside for something to cool you down on a hot day. The shop had a lovely selection of National Trust items.

  • 5/5 Incogrhito 1 year ago on Google
The most beautiful gardens of any National Trust party in my opinion. Absolutely beautiful, especially in summer! Watch out for the car park if you have a low rise car though, my Honda made quite an unnerving scraping sound as I drove out.

  • 5/5 Tony T. 1 year ago on Google
The gardens are amazing in range and layout, the terraced beds and artwork had lots of surprises with souvj to take in and needs a couple of hours or more. The house has lots of history, the artwork on the walls and ceiling was overwhelming but limited by the amount of light allowed. My main disappointment was we could not take photographs inside the castle and the tearooms were very limited in space and range. That said it was a very enjoyable visit. 👍

  • 5/5 Gary M. 8 months ago on Google
Great day out, Castle and gardens are spectacular. There is a mini bus that takes you around to various places when a volunteer is available to drive it. If going to the tea rooms at the back of the garden, it is only classed as a takeaway and do not have any trays to carry your drinks and food purchase from them.

  • 5/5 DEBRA T. 8 months ago on Google
Enjoyable afternoon. I don't know if we missed some of the museum, we found it very interesting though a little small for the price we paid. The gardens were lovely. We enjoyed playing the games on the field badly 😊. Beach tennis, rounders, volleyball and badminton.

  • 5/5 Benjamin M. 1 year ago on Google
We didn't get inside the castle, only in the gardens. They are stunning! Nice variety of colours and flowers! Love it!

  • 5/5 Harjinder K. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful, well maintained castle and grounds. Deer spotted as soon as we entered the grounds. Staff are knowledgable.Loved getting lost in the winding gardens, so many secret nooks to explore. We even found the pet cemetery and ice store. Not fully accessible for wheel chair users but staff are very helpful

The most beautiful well cared for garden we have see in Wales. Highly unusual mix of specimen plants. Fabulous borders. Important plants labeled. The living quarter murals everywhere were stunning. Loved Mary Queen of Scott's rosary and the carriage.

  • 4/5 Chris B. 9 months ago on Google
The best thing about Powis Castle by far is the gardens. The variety of plants and the planting layout is spectacular. The castle is interesting and the NT staff helpful but one does feel visitors a reluctantly tolerated. There is a noticeable absence of reference to the family's wealth coming from the slave trade! A missed opportunity to address this shameful part of our history. Very pleased to make use of the EV charging facility.

  • 5/5 James W. 11 months ago on Google
This has to be one of the best National Trust properties we've looked around. As always, the main building is full of history, but it was the gardens that really stood out. A great time of year to visit as the gardens looked and smelled absolutely incredible with so much blossom on the trees and flowering plants. The gardens are breathtaking as they're so mature and abundant, super impressed.

  • 5/5 Hannah S. 10 months ago on Google
Fabulous castle with stunning gardens. Spent a lovely few sunny hours strolling around the gardens before enetering the castle. Was impressed with how much of the castle there is to see. The volunteers were friendly with lots of interesting nuggets of information also. Would highly recommend a visit here.

  • 5/5 Erny F. 9 months ago on Google
Magnificent! Such a great experience visiting Powis Castle. We went there in the afternoon, so we missed the last entry to the castle itself as it closed at 15:30. But the staff were so kind and helpful to allow us to visit the Museum. The garden is so beautiful and well maintained. They have EV and accessible parking areas. Whilst wheelchair users are not able to access the castle due to its steps, they can definitely access the whole garden. If you're lucky, you can also see deers and lambs. Definitely recommend this to all our families and friends.

  • 5/5 S S. 10 months ago on Google
I just loved this place. It's beautiful and large area if you like walks. Castle looks stunning when you get down on the grounds. Well view from castle is equally gorgeous too. May need more benches added as it's such a huge area that people do get tired and keep looking to seat somewhere. I saw many elderly people at some places waiting to seat. I saw people eating picnics so I think its allowed to have a picnic. Specially on the bigger ground you can just seat and relax and have your time. There are picnic benches before entering the castle. Pictures are added.

  • 5/5 Bethany M. 2 years ago on Google
Great castle with lots to see! The garden is large, and very beautiful. The castle itself has a great history and some very interesting rooms. You're not allowed to take photos inside the castle, which was quite a disappointment. It cost £14.75 to enter but is free for national trust members. It's got a good cafe onsite as well.
