Overall 5 stars, would give 6 if can. Details below: There seem to be many fake reviews to try and pump down the gyms 5 star rating for what a man said, overall from my own experience these people reviewing have never even been to the gym or the sort with dicipline for martial arts. Some have purple hair, which says alot. As a solid reviewer and track record in reviewing around the world. I have been to many Jiu jitsu / MMA gyms, this is by far the highest level. Head coach Firas is more humble than many other coaches around the world that has smaller less succesful gyms. The classes are thought out in a realistic and systematic way, which is crucial. The first day I arrive he came down to greet me personally seeing I looked lost, very rare to see this else where and I was not expecting it. Overall he is very high level in his actual skills and coaching. The community is solid, not woke, very welcoming, many high level grapplers and strikers. To be honest I have not been going to Jiu jitsu classes (most can be Bollshet) in just over a year of my 3 years in Jiujitsu, but I have been coming to Firas’s classes 3-5 times a week. Thank you for bring back my passion for martial arts. 5 stars.

I have tried to reach out to this gym back in September, privately, about one of their ableist coaches online bullying me for my disability and they never responded. Rob Rivest, their MMA/BBJ coach, has been acting disturbingly towards us online since September, about my Autism. It’s now November and there’s been no response from the gym, and Rob continues to comment disgusting things online today. This is a terrible gym to be going to that seems to condone ableist behaviour from their coaches.

I’ve heard from a friend on how this gym treats Autistic people. Heck, they have a coach named Rob Rivest who has bullied my friend for her disability. The way that the gym tries to hide this kind of ableist behavior to keep their 5-star reputation is completely disgusting.

I am concerned about the message this gym condones as recently Rob Rivest, their MMA/BBJ coach, has been propagating hurtful messagest about members of the neurodivergent community, there has been a lack of response or follow up from the gym that this coach publicly advertises to be affiliated with on his Instagram. Attempts to reach out to this gym back in September, privately, about the conduct of coach Rob Rivest for bullying and hurtful messages about people with disabilities and they never responded. 2 months later there has been no response from the gym, and Rob continues to spread hateful messages and bully people online. I find this conduct to be unacceptable and hope that this gym would take some action to address this issue, cause at the moment I would not recommend a gym that condones such inappropriate messages and exclusion of members of the public. I question the integrity of such an institution and would appreciate if this matter was addressed in a more professional manner.

This Rob Rivest guy who apparently works for you all is leaving real gross and rude comments making fun of autistic folks online. As martial artists I'm also appalled by this disrespectful behavior & find a "coach" who behaves like this questionable. I don't think you want him ruining your brand/image over dumb actions on social media.

Amazing gym in Montreal. Coach firas actually cares about your progress and this matters. If your new to combat sports this hands down the best place to start your journey. It's also doesnt hurt that this is the home of one the greatest MMA fighters of all time. Coach firas is the man that got him there so let that soak in.

This gym is allowing one of their coaches to bully disabled people, refusing to address the issue, and allowing him to stay employed. This is not a safe or welcoming environment for neurodivergent people. Please beware.

Very overrated gym if you are a beginner IMO. The boxing coach is a class act though and the BJJ instructor was very kind. I respect the attitude of the veteran staff, they were very kind. Went as a noob. On other side, Zahabi wasnt exactly friendly with any of the new guys(all my time there not once did he say hello and always had a mean mug lol. Totally different online persona imo). Honestly, I'd avoid if you really want to learn. If you are a pro, you should go there though.

I feel like people in the comments who have never trained here shouldn't be allowed to make a review just based on internet court to discredit a gym reputation based on allegations of one of the trainers

Very easy to see how this gym has produced such championship caliber fighter's. Walking in you get a instant chill. A rush that brings a raw surge or adrenaline.

Worst gym for MMA training that I ever went to over expensive the coach and fighter there think too highly of themself . They just want to take your money to get their career going. Trust me I've been doing this for 12 years I've been to seven different gym for MMA and boxing and this place is the worst. And very expensive don't worry they will tell you you have to get a trainer and pay him very expensive for not very good experience of training. And yes if you don't pay them for personal training they will gang up on you and bully you that is what they do there.

Only gym or dojo I have ever studied in that took the side of the misogynistic bully gym-bro culture with no ability to govern the space. Zero discipline or respect. Avoid like the plague. 0/10

Got to train here when I was in town for business. By far one of the best experiences I've had in my martial arts journey. The environment and leadership was unmatched. It makes me want to move to Montreal just so I can train here more. Definitely will be making it back sometime soon!

Came from Toronto 2 learn martial arts & get in shape. Don't judge by exterior. Tristar is one of the best especially if ur willing to work. The ppl produced speaks 4 itself. Shout out to Tristar staff, podcast, and especially Neil Sheppard. Stick with Neil -- he really cares about his students, never gives up on anyone, and always uses positivity to motivate us.

An older hobbiest. Had second thoughts about joining this gym given it has one of the world’s best MMA coaches (Firas Zahabi) and produces champions, but found it very welcoming and patient with people of all levels. Students are collegial. Would recommend Firas’s bjj class. Also took mma private lessons with a fighter out of the gym, Tyler Wilson, and wrestling with Coach Anatolie, highly recommend both.

The most elite Jiu Jitsu school in the world. The owner is the kindest most popular person I know. You can't find better Jiu Jitsu coaching on the planet.

Growing up around the corner, I took a class and nevertheless it was great, I was kid back then, but I remember seeing GSP there, and a few weeks after he was in the mma. So if you really wanna get great at mma, it's not just about the dedication you have it's also the great coaches and equipment.

I've trained at a few MMA gyms but Tristar so far has it all, fully equipped gym with weights and punching bags for the post training, professional coaches , nice vibe and good people, from beginner to pro everyone has their chance to spar and practice with someone on their same level, hands on a premium experience.

Honestly I was not expecting much from the gym but WOW! The classes are really good and you can feel the workout effect after 1,2 days. The time flies so when you less expect is all done. Lorena is extremely friendly and professional, always motivating and assisting with the exercises. 100% worth it!

👍 Great bouldering gym with a decent training area. Just be prepared to wait for climbs during rush hours. Early birds and night owls sessions are best for those looking to do drills on the wall.
