Great place. Food was good. Welcome drinks were greatly appreciated (booking direct required). The only real negative was wifi reception in the accommodation rooms was very poor. Staff were helpful. 10% discount on meals was nice too for guests staying there.

Stayed one night At the york on lillydale, on our way to Queensland. The rooms were lovely had a beautiful view of the the lake lots of wildlife,loved that, the staff were friendly, the food was delicious. Enjoyed our stay.

Would not recommend for older/elderly travelers. Rooms are quite dangerous (big step up into shower/bath, and beds are on wheels that roll out if you lean on them). Seriously - be super careful on the beds. I am a fit, middle aged man and still injured myself when I leaned on the bed for balance and it shot across the whole room on rollers. Management are clearly ignoring the issue based on other reviews. Other than the beds and weird shower, this is a Good budget option if staying one night or traveling with a young family.

Enjoyed my stay, staff were so friendly. Gardens very clean, loads of parking, the room, well I must say it was big and beautiful, enjoyed the over the pond view, large spa, room service was so quick and easy. Loved that the heater was on before my arrival. I will be sure to return. Thanks so much

This is the worst of the suburbs. Place looks like a funeral home and of 20 things on the menu only 5 were available (not exact numbers) I also paid $4.50 for a small soda water from hose. Was overall a pretty rubbish experience. The place was warm. Just not for me.

I think no stars for this place. We ordered off the app, entrees and mains. Waited over 40 minutes for only the mains to come out when letting them know/questioning where our entrees were the waitress was very rude and aggressive. She informed us that they dont do mains even though the app does and it will all come out at once. The short black hair was making it out to be our fault for ordering from the app she also told us she will take all out food back to the kitchen! Need to pull their socks up Raw chicken parma, cold chips, gravy was very watery Not coming back

I organised a 30th Trivia night in the Yarra Room. Everyone had an absolute blast, and that was in no small part thanks to Bec and the rest of the staff who provided good food and friendly service. Bec was so accommodating, making sure everything was just the way we wanted it, and also provided lots of helpful suggestions to make the night a success.

Great atmosphere, awesome live music, fantastic staff. The food/menu is the only aspect I would like to see improved, although it was well priced.

Hosted an event for our clients here and Bec the events coordinator has made the process so easy and she has made the session so much better. She was prompt in getting back to us and answered all our questions having not hosted events since 2020. Highly recommend!

What a great little place to stay. We booked here for 2 nights to attend a Wedding at the Chateau next door. This was perfect. There is a walking track that leads directly to it from the hotel and it’s only a 5min walk. The room was very clean and the fixtures and fittings all in good condition. The room was more spacious than expected and the outlook over the lake was pretty and private allowing us to have the blinds open and still not seeing any other neighbours. There was a bit of noise with music going in the adjacent pub over the weekend we stayed, but nothing too late into the evening which was good. Having a BWS and small dining facility next door was also convenient.

My partner was denied entry to the gaming room for literally no reason. While entering the aggressive security guard stopped her, stood over her and told her he could deny anyone he wanted because is “the manager, the police and the boss here” (he is none of those things.). When she asked to speak to gaming staff he began to intimidate her and became aggressive. This was very upsetting for my partner. The gaming staff did nothing to help the situation. Very disappointing.

We love this Bistro! Excellent customer service. Great family environment with a safe playground inside and also one outside too in an enclosed courtyard. We are regular customers and the food never disappoints, always delish and served in a very reasonable time frame. There is usually about 7 of us, and the meals always come out together. Also impressive is that the kids meal's are served first. I highly recommend this Bistro, it really is one of our favourites.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour by bar staff and security in the pokies room. Our whole group got kicked out, we didn't do anything wrong, tried to get another drink after our function that was at their venue , that we paid thousands for. Either retrain your staff or get new one. We won't be going back 🤬🤬

Great spot to stay! Room was clean and comfortable with added bonus of pub and bottle shop at our doorstep! Definitely recommend 👌🏻.

Greeted by friendly, knowledgeable staff (I wanted to go for a run in the morning, and they knew the local tracks), I arrived at this perfect location.....directed to my spacious light filled room overlooking the trees and lagoon. After heading up the road for some Thai at 'Romo Thai' Mt Evelyn, I returned and wandered down to the bar, sitting in the outdoor area where I enjoyed my complimentary drink. Finally, back to a comfy bed to a quiet nights sleep.... awoke to the sound of birds, a light rain (no run!), bit of breakfast, and checked out...Thank you 'York on Lilydale', I will be back. Note though - If you want to eat at the Bistro, book early.

Had the end of year break up at the York! Staff were friendly and professional! Food was great and the atmosphere was excellent. Cannot fault this venue! Would recommend to anyone to have a private function here.

Very much enjoyed our lunch. Big portion of food which we weren't expecting. Food was great and well priced. Staff were friendly. Nice big family bistro. You can either scan a code at your table, order and pay online or walk to the register.

Dinner was nice although ordering from table was hit and miss. Staff were polite and helpful when 2 if my friends hadn't received their drink order after quite some time and also checked to see all meal orderes were received. Show was great Accommodation also surpassed my expectations. Recent renovation, neat, clean and actually had an unexpected peaceful view

Bistro not a great experience. Steak cooked to liking, however served with cool veggies and luke warm stale looking chips. That's after 1 hour 15 min wait, on an indicated 45 minute wait time. It was on a not so busy Wednesday night it appeared.

Meh. I ordered the gnocchi and it was almost cold, and tasted soggy and undercooked for "pan-fried". Great venue for live music and functions though, but no chef's specials, mediocre menu, and my particular meal was subpar.

BISTRO: the table staff were ok and the lady at the bar was fantastic as we had 6 different coffee's. The kids meals were OK, the fish and chips were OK but batter was soggy and the chicken parma was warm but not hot. However but the meat pie was not edible at all. So much gravy that was hiding burnt and cold pastry. The meat filling was gluggy and very floury and the meat was dry and not edible. The only reason I am giving two stars is a got a partial refund on the pie

My son had his Year 11 formal there tonight and his dietary requirements got mixed up and the "restaurant" couldn't come up with a main vegetarian meal for $80! He received a bland unedible salad. Wouldn't of been difficult to whip up some hot chips. I realise your menu is pub style but even the most basic pubs have a vegetarian option. The food issue definitely put a damper on his whole night. We won't be back as a family.

Hit or miss sums this place up perfectly. Our garlic bread entree was amazing but our mains interrupted us half way through eating it. That's fine, some people like their food bought out quickly. My 'special' featured hard peas, salty mashed potatoes, "onion gravy" that was red onion in weak gravy, pretty sure the lamb sausages listed was pork. Food is standard pub fair but at a higher price then I thought was reasonable for the quality. Lots of kids running about. Nice atmosphere for families, not so much for a quiet date. Standard pub fair but not an unpleasant one.

On Monday 4th September 2023 I went to the bistro for Lunch with Denise and I had the 250Gram Glaziers Rump Steak and Chips with a glass of lemonade with raspberry cordial, which was cooked to perfection. Denise had the Pumpkin Soup with a piece of Garlic Bread with a glass of water, which she really enjoyed as well.

We enjoyed the food, it was reasonably priced particularly if you are over $50 and the staff were polite.

Large group catered for really well for lunch at the bistro. From booking to leaving bistro it was a wonderful experience. All staff were exceptional as dealing with a large group can be a challenge but all went very smoothly. Friendly and happy staff. Food was good.

Amazing venue! My family and I have eaten at both the bistro and the Collective and both options are so nice! The staff are so awesome and friendly and always up for a chat! The food is amazing in both kitchens and the vibes are always high! Literally love the York, such a beautiful venue in every way! 10/10 if possible!

Great place to stay 👌 has everything you need and the beds are super comfy. Would have given 5 stars for the rooms but could have used a microwave 🤔

Extremely disappointed. Arrived for a family members engagement party. Upon arrival was told it was downstairs. Approximately 40 stairs with NO disability access. Just steps in and out. 1 access only! Was not able to attend the event and left. No apology from the staff or compromise as there was no other access. Lucky there wasn't an evacuation! I'm sure this is a fire and safety breech!

Very poor and dero crowd in a nice looking environment. Such a shame. We came for dinner at the collective outside table due to nice weather and there were drunk people all around us dropping glasses and smoking (in a clearly labelled no smoking) 2 security staff on and they were aware of this but not doing anything. Also service was slow inside, staff not friendly, didn't really care for our experience. Unlikely to ever go back even when we enjoyed it when it first opened

Wow! What a fantastic place! Staff: impeccable! Food: fantastic Accomodation: absolutely lovely! Can’t fault this one guys! Food was beautiful, especially in the collective area, cocktails go down a treat in there too! Especially while listening to some live music on the nights they have some on! Beautiful beer garden overlooking the pool and gardens! Would highly recommend coming into the warmer months especially. Even if you’re just looking for an easy coffee and a comfy couch to sit and chat! This is the place!

Surprisingly very good. Rooms are clean and I’d love this bathroom in my house. Rooms quiet and couldn’t hear other people or doors slamming. Slept until 8am before we heard any noise. Back sliding doors with big screens open onto grass parkland area that could be left open all night or you could run the air conditioning or heating that seems silent. Really surprised given it has zero street appeal. The pool is excellent for kids and there is a bistro and a totally separate what seems a new bar and outdoor area. If I lived local I’d probably come here if a weekend it was that good.

We went to the York for Christmas lunch 2022, and it was beautiful, the food, the service, the atmosphere amazing. We went into the family bistro, and our great grand children were able to play in the games room, and also outside in the playground. We will be booking for next year.🤗

Had dinner in the bistro and it was disappointing. Massive meal sizes. Food quality ok but average. Yummy chips! But the service was terrible. They messed up the order. Sent out food as starter when it was for a main which then they put under a heat lamp but it wasn't hot when served later. Then made errors in taking the order and charged us for and sent out food we didn't order. They didn't let us know the kitchen was closing (early for dinner!) so no option to have dessert. No excuse as the place was so empty so super quiet. Not great atmosphere. Feels more like a school canteen. Much nicer to eat up the other end in the pub / bar. Bistro not great.

Meh! No explanation of where/how to order. No menus were given & my wine glass smelt like a dog wash. My husband was almost finished his meal before I received mine which was a salad!!. It only came when we complained. The salad I ordered was underwhelming, tasteless and not what the menu stated. No pistachios , no pomegranate molasses and the pumpkin was undercooked. Average on all levels.

Sunday booked for lunch for friends 60th, very slow service, looked like short if staff then 3 out of 4 meals arrived and twice had to ask when the 4th meal was , happened to be the birthday girls and still waited, hers came out as we all finished, shame. Food was great but dampened by service

We had booked 19 rooms as we had a wedding, the customer service leading up to the stay was fantastic and the food at the sports bar tasted really good. The only problem we had was we got a cleaning bill due to glitter on the floor (from the wedding dress), we understand that there was a bit of mud through the room as we had a lot of our guests in our room the night of the wedding and there is no door mat between outside and in the room, but besides that the stay was great and I would still recommend it.

Stayed Saturday night July 29th, the upgrades since our last stay is fantastic. The service in sports bar by sharice was outstanding and when we went to the bistro for dinner we did not have a booking but the staff were great and found us a table, the food was unbelievable so good. Thank you

Had dinner for 7 people there at the bistro on the 7th of June for my daughter's 18th. Food was lovely, reasonable and quick and our table on the corner was quite private. Only negative point was the bartender did not know how to make hot drinks ....sorry the hot chocolates X 3 were terrible.

Pretty standard bistro. Staff are very accommodating. Prices ok. Food on the other hand is very sub standard. These 3 stars are for the lovely staff we met. Otherwise just ordinary.

Had to que for a menu. Felt like they actually made it difficult to order food. The girl at the door was nice, but very harried. Had to go to the bar to ask for a menu. Only to be told to get in the que, yes, actually line up for an opportunity to get a menu. When I eventually received one it was tattered and worn. Like the place could only afford one or two.

Generous 2 stars at best for the food, 1 star for the staff, after receiving my meal, which was not what I ordered, I told the staff member, that I ordered the mixed grill, she returned to tell me that a mixed grill isn't on the menu, surprisingly though I had paid for it at the counter, I'm guessing that was the message from the kitchen, so when she was showed mixed grill on the actual menu, she returned to the kitchen and tried again, then was told I would have to wait until they cook it. Would have to be the worst customer service I've experienced for a long time, and after reading all the reviews about rude staff, they just say sorry we are working on that, what a crock. Well the last time I was here was over 10 years ago, and will be another 10 years until I return. That's ok, I'm a local, my money will be spent somewhere else. Also just to add, we went for dinner the night before the storms, so really no excuse at all, you weren't short staffed, just terrible service, and obviously a manager who only cares about reviews, and making up stories to cover up his terrible service

Went to a show there. Food was ok. (My expectations weren't high so I was pleasantly surprised). The staff were fantastic. Pleasant, friendly, on the ball, knowledgeable and professional.

Room was good. Was nice and clean. Breakfast really let this place down. I have never seen scrambled eggs that were just scramled dry fried eggs. Was horrible.

Nothing exceptional about the food compared to other ALH.... chips were a bit meh and steak was dry on the inside but cooked perfectly. The prawn spring rolls don't taste like anything.... like frozen and deep fried. Not the best, not the worst alh..... staff were super friendly. Nice spacious dining area and relatively new.

We have taken clients to this venue on many occasions now and the food is always consistently good, however the service is excellent! Josie will greet you with a smile and is always more than happy to assist in anyway she can with our groups of clients we bring. She is wonderful.

Stayed for one night only. Rooms were lovely and clean. Bed super comfy but the best part of the stay was the amazing staff that looked after us for dinner. Food was fresh, hot and delicious 😋 Thanks for a beautiful meal and for the staff who all smiled and made us feel so special! We will definitely be back 👏

I live in the area and frequent this place a lot. It can get very busy at main meal times but my kids absolutely love the bistro and the kids meals always come out quickly. If you are someone who just wants some quiet time with your significant other with a couple of drinks before your meal comes out it's perfect. The meals are great with respectable pricing considering today's inflation. The staff are friendly and accommodating and love to hear feedback. I haven't tried The Collective over the other side but I'd love to soon. Your kids will love it and give you a much needed quiet meal with the entertainment provided at no cost!

Had a booking for dinner tonight and it was cancelled due to my husband is Christmas party that they were kicked out and refuse to be served after a certain time as I booked a table for 4. I got there after 5 o’clock and he was he told me that they got kicked out and they were kicking out. People absolutely disgrace. I’ll never go there again the manager of collective was rude and obnoxious to them. I understand if they were doing something wrong, but they weren’t. I would not recommend to go there to York on lilydale collective
