It’s the emergency room, all of you complaining about the wait and it being slow need to take a minute and realise what’s actually happening behind those doors. The wait was a while, but the moment I got through those doors, you understand exactly why. Not only were the staff lovely and kind and caring, they were brilliant and very thorough in everything they did to make sure I was okay, 10/10 would have heart palpitations again

Last night I went there and I don’t have Medicare that’s why I paid ! The old nurse lady may be named andrea or Andra something she is so rude, inconciderable and bad and she made me wait for 3 and half hours and then said to go somewhere coze everyone was busy !! I have a medical condition and she saw the full history as I was going 6th time there for same reasons still she behaved so bad despite paying money by my pocket! It was 5 o clock morning after waiting 3 and half hours she make me left ! I will sue this lady if something happens to me .. !! God will definitely punish that old lady

Came here yesterday as I have been feeling dizzy, muscle pain/weakness and extreme fatigue. Came in at 7:30 PM. By 10:30 PM. Everyone who had come in after me had been seen. About 8 people after me with different reasons were seen within 1 hour some waiting 20 minutes. So after 3 hours I asked the nurse how much longer it would be for me. She said there's still 5 people ahead of me and it could be one hour could be six hours, they can't really say as every single person has been prioritized above me. I then told her but I have been to numerous hospital in the past for not feeling well and I have never waited 4 hours and 20 minutes to been seen by a doctor. Nor are you guys that busy as everyone is going in straight away and I am basically just being skipped. I ended up going home without being seen. I will not be returning to this emergency department. Alfred Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospital are at least 50 times busier than this hospital and they don't make you wait 5 hours.

Had the help of Dr Sam and Nurse Elizabeth to help with my wife’s situation, the amount of empathy and comfort they showed was remarkable given how much other things were going on in the ER. Yes it will be a wait for a few hours, but once you go through those doors you’ve got people who are super attentive, listening, and choosing the best decisions. Given other high priority emergencies going on, I can tell why there’s be so much decision to be made on which patients to triage first. So glad to have had the support of those two amazing people, thank you!

Good doctors and nurses who while visibility under pressure with time and resources they did there best. They did let me walk out with the canular still in my arm. I only realised when I was on tram home, so I had to take it out myself, which led to a lot of bleeding, it did however seem to occupy fellow travellers time and attention as I had quite the audience.

I went to this emergency, waited 5hrs+, hands shaking, cannot breathe and still waited 5 hrs. Seeing people behind me going into the ER to see the doctor... I had a terrible lung illness, so you can imagine what it was like for me...

No manners, not friendly, harsh tone. This emergency department works like a turtle. Inside talkative, doesn't care about other people's suffering. Leave the patient to wait very long time. They always have to let people waited at least 4-10 hours without really paying attention!

So slow. Never seen any work this slow in my life. Some 3rd world countries are even better care and work faster. Always let patients wait for minimum 4 hours. Every night, always have only 1 or 2 doctors for emergency, why??? Ridiculous!!!

I was seen at St Vincent's ED only by a second-year junior doctor, who was too squeamish and scared of blood to even clean my wound properly, let alone stitch it up as it required. (My finger tip had been 75% amputated, i.e. sliced through about 75% of the way through, including completely through the fingernail and nail bed.) I had already shown him SMS messages from two friends of mine, an ED Consultant and a Plastics Consultant, (both at Monash) who has both seen photos of my injury, and who both agreed the wound needed to be cleaned thoroughly and stitched properly (nail bed repair) to avoid future complications. Despite this, I was not seen by even an ED registrar or plastics registrar, let alone a consultant. The second-year at one point did bring over the necessary supplies to numb my finger and clean it out properly, but appeared visibly squeamish and could not carry through with the required treatment. In the end, he simply irrigated the outside of the wound with some saline, put a dressing on it, and sent me home. It was a complete waste of almost an entire day. I subsequently presented at The Alfred ED, where they immediately recognised the serious nature of the injury and the treatment required. They removed the fingernail, and properly cleaned the partial amputation wound, then performed a proper nail bed repair. They also prescribed antibiotics, (given the delay in cleaning the wound properly due to losing a day at St. V's before obtaining proper treatment) and have arranged a follow-up plastics outpatient appointment in another week. This experience has left me with absolutely ZERO confidence in St V's to be able to provide a basic, adequate, competent level of care, and consequently I would NEVER recommend that someone seek medical care at St. V's, as staff are clearly completely incompetent, and there are no adequate processes in place to ensure such mistakes are caught by someone more experienced. If I hadn't subsequently gone to The Alfred, I certainly would not have obtained a decent outcome with my finger, and may well have ended up with a serious infection which could have led to much more serious complications.

It's up to me to comment that when you visit a Catholic clinic like this, you expect to see a Catholic-oriented hospital. And for the first time in my life, I felt like my faith had been conquered. They told me that they wouldn't force their religion on you. Yet it felt like they were taking it away. After being judged by clearly uncatholic people and released without being seen nor receiving medical treatment and held there for 24 hours, a random man from St. Vincent approached me and said I could go to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, which was just down the road. And from then on, my stay at the hospital dragged on for days till date. Even when I went to a new hospital with broken faith, thinking I was going to be treated by a new team, I was instead met by another member from St. Vincent who never sutured my debridement surgery as we had agreed, leading to all the consequences. And now I sit in a hospital, languishing away based on opinions of what is adaptive and maladaptive, which is just more wood for the fire when we consider the compatibility of Catholicism and psychology. Now I'm locked up with no human rights and nothing to keep me mentally occupied. Even the Bible I requested and received is based on the KJV Bible and is without the book of Joshua. If I had to summarize St. Vincent's in one word, this word would be self-righteous.

Came for a cat bite. Nurse Rebecca who triaged was lovely and professional and Dr Georgie who treated me was excellent and really put my mind at ease. Thank you to the St Vincent emergency team for all their hard work and care

I had an amazing experience here. I walked out of another ER because of the treatment and anxiety they caused and went to St. Vincent ER- the intake staff and triage nurses were absolutely wonderful, polite and caring... I was seen within an hour, which is not that bad... the doctor that saw me were perhaps the most thorough in their assessment and investigation into what I was there for and really made me feel less scared and anxious, and that I was actually being cared for. I have never had an ER doctor tell me to return immediately to see her again if anything else happens similar - usually ER staff just wants to give you the boot and move onto the next patient like sardines in an Alaskan canning factory. They also gave me results of my bloodwork to take with me, which in my experience is horded by ER staff with power trips.... thank you for helping me and for restoring some faith in the medical system! =)

I had an absolutely amazing experience for being treated with absolute pleasure and stipulated timeframes as discussed. My review for this great team would be incomplete without mentioning the name of two beautiful.nurses who made stay more comfortable and worth cherishing after I get to leave from here and those girls were Amy and Cat..they equally deserve much respect and appreciation in this challenging role they have taken and are performing their duties with utmost care and exemplary customer service...i had such a piece of mind being treated by amazing staff including the doctors at the right time with my critical condition ..you guys absolutely displayed Humanity still survives....thanks very much

Pathetic and disgraceful service, Staff has no empathy and they are very rude. They got me wait for 4 hours in emergency and then ask me to go home and see a GP.

After we stood 3 hours in-line today for a covid test, my wife fainted and laid on the ground. The staff from StV Emergency were just fantastic. Test questions, Wheelchair, sandwich, drink and a Covid swab all done with a minimum of fuss. Thanks Rachel for such professional attention. PS neg result by the way.

Came here (visitor) and found the staff to be helpful and polite. Patient was looked after well by doctors and nurses, however, I observed that Andrea (Nurse) was not as friendly and appeared to be disgruntled. The way she spoke to visitors and work colleagues shows a lack of professionalism. She really let's the team down.

Thank you so much to the entire team at the St. Vincentβ€˜s emergency department hospital, all the nurses and doctors who looked after me and cared for me, including Senior Doctor Claudio, Doctor Harry and nurses Erin and Gabriel. They were very thorough with the testing and I am leaving feeling better than when I came in. Thank you

Two nights ago I had to go to St.V's emergency dept. From Triage to actual admission into the emergency ward the staff were all friendly and helpful. Dr. Ann and nurses April and Joo made me feel comfortable during my overnight stay. Thank you.

Absolutely incredibly kind and gentle nursing staff. I was in for 3 days and I hate hospitals and needles and I wouldn't hesitate to go back because the staff were so lovely to me. From the second I entered a&e they just took care of me from the get go.

First of all I just have to say Doctor Georgie is literally the most mindful and caring doctor I have ever seen. I really really appreciate her. From how she was so focus on every single word I said, taking notes to it to treating me. I am really grateful that she was my doctor at ED that day. And the little paper for the knowledge that I need I will never forget this tiny action but made my heart fluster. Thank you Doctor Georgie, hope you are seeing this <3 YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!

DON"T GO IF YOU HAVE A BROKEN NOSE - I'm a foriegner with private insurance so I had to pay $500 and wait 4 hours for them to tell me that they can't set a broken nose.

Undefinable wait time. 2.5 hrs later with less than 10 people in the waiting room and still here. Definitely is not Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital. Would hate to be here and be dying quickly.

Spent about 5 hours here last night. Wanted to try and balance out the negative reviews. Firstly, if you come to emergency and have to wait, you are lucky. You are waiting because the triage nurse has assessed you as "not likely to cark it anytime soon." Feel sorry for the poor buggers who are getting rushed straight through. They're the ones with real problems. Secondly, when your wait is over this is what you will experience - a team of highly competent, caring people working HARD, and working FAST, to deliver as much high quality care, to as many people as they possibly can. I couldn't have been more impressed with the nurses who treated me. Just makes you feel incredibly lucky to live in Australia. So sit down, turn your speaker on your phone off, and wait politely for your FREE, world class medical care.

The two times in my life I have been unfortunate enough to have to go to the Emergency Department, I visited St Vincent's, it was the weekend and it was busy. Every single member of the staff I dealt with, reception/triage, several doctors, MANY nurses, operators, technicians, the staff who brought me a meal and helped me move rooms, EVERYONE - was incredibly kind, helpful and professional. I was there for over 10 hours, but that is because of the thorough treatment I received and, it is, after all - an emergency room, the staff are flat-out busy working to provide us a free service. Not a job I would want or could handle - THANK YOU St Vincent's for making a horrendous experience, bearable!
