Picturesque lake surrounded by a gently-sloping landscape and nice walk paths. Great place to visit for those on the Harlem side of Central Park.

Besides the beautiful views all around the lake, there is music, fishing, running, gardens, a rink, classes, walking, a gift shop, art museum, and lots of people watching. We live coming here every time we visit the city.

The Harlem Meer is a great place for dog lovers. You can bring your dog and let him or her run off leash before 9 a.m. and after 9 p.m. provided 1) you are able to control your dog and 2) your dog interacts well with others. There is a wonderful community of dog people at the Meer and lots of places for pups to run around and have fun. The Meer is full of beautiful plants and animals as well. The Meer most always has duck and geese. If you're lucky you'll see an Egret or Heron.

It had a miniature Viking ship playing funeral dirges in it -- what's not to love?!
