Came here during the week for the lunch special. Samosa were good (2 pieces) and came with only the red sweet sauce. Lunch special came with dal, two curry's, rice and naan. Chicken Vindaloo was very tasty. The chicken chilly was only ok as the chicken was a little tough. The chicken Tikka masala was also very yummy.

So what used to be Al's Cafe is now Himalayan Sherpa Cuisine. We order butter chicken from a lot of places, and this is the best we've had. The chicken has a great texture and wasn't rubbery at all like some other establishments. The price is reasonable and the staff are super nice. A great addition to Carlsbad village! 5 Stars!

The food here is so delicious, we loved everything we ordered and the service was wonderful. Best naan I’ve ever had, hands down, the soup was so fresh and flavorful and the lamb korma was amazing. I’d give 10 stars if I could. They newly opened and this will be our new go-to for dinner, no question. Eat here and enjoy!!!

Food was amazing! The server was so kind and attentive to my requests(vegan). This place is a must! Every bite is full of flavor. The only thing that I wished is that the portions were a little bit more generous.

Delish food!! Lamb saag was super tender and pakora had delish flavor. Our servers were friendly and brought us some extra sauces, their hot sauce was so good I was stoked!

Had the Himalayan Biryani and the chicken Tikka Misala. Both were rich, flavorful and absolutely delicious. The Biryani wasn't too spicy (level 5) and was just perfect. Highly recommended the garlic cilantro Naan as well - easy 5 stars!

We came from SF . Had no idea about this area about best food. So went to this restaurant last night after checking reviews. Omg the employee were soooo nice and humble. Really like the taste of food. The most important thing impressed us was food hygiene. Next trip we will come to this restaurant again. Awesome food.

Amazing tasty food! Took over an older institution in Carlsbad Al's Diner, and all i can say is don't judge a book by its cover! You will enjoy the food here immensely, with such flavorful dishes. They have the best lunch special deal in all of San Diego at the most affordable price anywhere. I will be coming back here week after week as i work in the Carlsbad Village.

Took over Al's Cafe Restaurant which was in this spot for 30 years so I came across it unexpectedly. Really good Tandoori and Curry dishes at a reasonable price. It is not a fancy place, but the cook is top notch. Try the Saag dishes which come with various meats or vegetarian. It will get crowded because of the location but it is not too bad yet. Good service, and run by the owners, which is always helpful.

SOOOOOO delicious! Located in Carlsbad Village but away from the hustle bustle. More low key vibes and that's the way we like it> the food is amazing and we were talking about wanting to eat there every day! Vegetable soup and Salmon Tandoori sooooo much flavor. Eating left overs for breakfast!

Wonderful little spot for some amazing food!!! We tried the lunch specials and the butter chicken entree. It was all so great. Loved the Lamb Takari and Chicken Chilly. We also tried the Badami Naan. It was delicious. The service was friendly and efficient as well!! Will definitely be making the drive back soon.

Great food and wonderful service! The food takes a while to come out, but their kitchen is small! Will def be back to explore their menu!

Tried a few Indian / Himalayan places nearby and this one is the BEST! So far, everything on the menu is great. My favorite is the Tikka Masala with Cilantro Naan, and an Taj Majal (Indian Beer) to wash it all down.
