😠 We've had some pretty terrible experiences here. I understand it's a pandemic and things are tough, but the communication with this office is really abysmal. The voice mailboxes of all the vets are full, nobody can answer the phone, and getting an appointment is always a challenge. We're 0 for 4 wi... People often mention appointment, care, told, staff,

We've had some pretty terrible experiences here. I understand it's a pandemic and things are tough, but the communication with this office is really abysmal. The voice mailboxes of all the vets are full, nobody can answer the phone, and getting an appointment is always a challenge. We're 0 for 4 with this office actually helping our pet in issues from giardia, kennel cough, and more. All of the issues we've had have resulted in us being told to go to the animal hospital around the corner. The worst one resulted in our dog spending 2 days in the hospital on IV. We brought our pup in to VCA to get up to date on shots a few months ago. After getting being told he had everything he needed, we brought him to daycare. He caught the canine flu and was sicker than any dog should be. I understand this can still happen if the dog is vaccinated, but I cannot believe the the shot was not given to him when we were told he was "up to date" on everything he needed after coming here. Mistakes happen, people aren't perfect, but I cannot currently recommend this vet due to the issues we have had.

The doctors are great. Staff working the front desk are rude, disrespectful and have no sense for the basics of customer service. Today was my last visit to any VCA. I will find a boutique vet for a more personalized service. Edited after response from Vet: If they really cared, they would pick up the phone to call me to discuss rather than send a public response for me to email them. They know my name, I clearly was a customer… I’m not difficult to reach if they genuinely cared to resolve this.

The hospital is clean, organized, and well-staffed with friendly and professional employees who are always willing to help. Dr. Olken is an outstanding veterinarian who is knowledgeable, compassionate, and thorough. She takes the time to answer all of our questions and concerns and always keeps us informed about our cat's health and progress. The hospital offers a wide range of services, including routine check-ups, vaccinations, dental care, and emergency services. The staff is always quick to respond to our needs and the prices are reasonable.

Didn’t inform me about the outrageous increase in their prices ($160 for a doctors visit - despite being an existing patient!!!) until after the visit. $500 for an ear infection treatment which has cost $150 total in the past. Feel completely taken advantage of. Never coming back.

Thank you VCA. What an amazing facility. The staff is so kind and professional. Grace and Teresa at the front desk, Danny the fabulous tech, and our beloved Dr Carvalho, the best! Smokey and Bandit sincerely appreciate your kindness! Robbie

Dr. Kimberly Carvalho hands down the most kind, honest, loving, professional and knowledgeable vet! She responds to your calls in a timely manner, she runs on time, she is truly a dying breed of veterinarians. We have been with her for more 18 years. She is also a great listener when I was unhappy with her support members, she was able to get back to me with an understanding of the situation and it never happened again. Great person to have looking after your furry friends.

I brought my soon to be 16 year old Maltese in to see Dr. Carvalho for her arthritis and dementia issues. I found her to be extremely pleasant, patient and sensitive to my Lucia. She suggested some additional meds to her program and they have helped her considerably. I also noticed that Luca felt extremely comfortable with Dr. Carvalho's exam, and did not become overly stressed. I highly recommend her. I also liked the clinic and the fact that I could be with Lucia during the entire process. Everyone was pleasant and the place was very clean!

I used to take my dog to the VCA Venice location which was great but it closed down recently so then I booked an appointment for my dog a whole month back at this Brentwood location. I get here and they make me send my dogs records via email despite it being a VCA. Shouldn’t VCA the company already have my dogs records? After which I sign some forms and then I wait 15-20mins only to be told that the doctor cannot see my dog today. I waited a whole month for this appointment and had to juggle various other work tasks only to be told in person that the doctor cannot see my dog today. Why couldn’t you call me in advance if that was the case? And then why make me send my dogs info, sign some forms and make me wait? Very unprofessional. Also the tone of person who informed me this seemed so casual and unapologetic which makes me think this seems to be a regular occurrence.

I'm really confused.. I called almost two months ago to make an appointment for my two kittens to be fixed. We get here today, you only allowed one of us to go inside with the animals. Not only did you not fix the cats. You drew bloodwork for FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS. And our kittens are now not fixed but we're out that much money. If you're going to pull this, at least be transparent with me when I make the appointment FOR THEM TO BE FIXED. This wasn't okay. UPDATE::: the total for bloodwork and urine 682$ WOW and they "can't make the appointment now to be fixed and THEY WILL CALL US" Nice work.

I’ve never written a bad review about anyone or anything but here we go. I had been coming here for several years for my dog’s health needs and was largely happy with the care, even though the prices were always pretty high. However, after the cost of my most recent visit, I will most definitely never return. First of all, when I called to book the appointment, all I needed were a couple of vaccines for my dog, and that’s all I wanted. But since he hadn’t been in for a visit in over a year, they said that he required a full wellness exam and explained that he had to have that first in order to get the vaccines. I wasn’t thrilled with being forced to pay for a full wellness exam, but I said ok. During the exam, the doctor was very friendly but suggested a blood panel. What was not mentioned was that this blood panel would be over $500. No prices were ever discussed with me at any point. When I went to check out, the total cost was almost $800. Again, I booked the appointment only wanting two vaccines. I paid it because I was honestly in so much shock and felt like I had no choice in the moment. I thought better of it a little later and called to see if we could cancel the blood tests because I simply could not afford it. The receptionist said she would talk to the doctor and call me back. 3 hours later- they called me back to say the tests had already been done. I understand that the cost of animal care always has the potential to be expensive. But this is just ridiculous. Wellness exam: $165 Blood panel: $508 Bordetella vaccine: $52.70 K9 flu vaccine: $65.35 Total cost: $795.30

Not recommended. Not friendly towards owner or pet. Staff & vet difficult to reach by phone, act like they don't know you or your pet & recommend expensive diagnostic tests instead of actually listening to owner & examining your pet. Never a friendly greeting for you or your pet... just 'who are you & want do you want'. Anxious pets get medicated, not TLC.

Does not answer phone, is not open hours advertised. I’ve been leaving messages and waiting all weekend and Monday to see if pets medication refill was ready for pick up. When I finally did get through I was notified the medication was denied unless I made another appointment. How do you deny amoxicillin refill? The one and only time I did make it in, they insisted on a bunch of scans and tests ($900) that ultimately told us nothing of pets condition. Seems like a lot of money grabbing and not a lot of actual care.

I have worked with the amazing vets there since 1989 and have always been thankful and grateful for their help (and I am an honorary vet, as a Furless People Physician!).

Unable to get ahold of front desk or staff. Records for my pet in the portal are incorrect. Frustrating experience, unresponsive in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Impossible to get an appointment. Would not recommend. I understand that vet offices are strained, but the management of this office is pretty abysmal.

We go to Dr Olken but the entire staff is lovely and we've seen other vets if we need to go on her off days. They've taken excellent care of my elderly kitties

It’s expensive, not obscenely but plan accordingly. That being said, service is great, doctors are super alert and knowledgeable and are open 24/7. My kitty is alive because of them. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Dr. Britto is always extraordinary. She is knowledgeable and patient, while having an AMAZING bedside manner. Our kitties are "high maintenance", and she always shows them, and us, the utmost respect and care. We are so grateful to have Dr. Britto, as well as Nona, Grace, Daisy, Martha, Dr. Martin, Dr. Olkin, and the rest of the outstanding staff.

I am very unhappy with their customer service and appointment system. I had an appointment tomorrow morning for a follow up on a possible heart murmur on my dog. I had arranged the day off way in advance from my job due to it being book 6 months ago. They call me today telling me the Vet was on maternity leave and wouldn’t be able to see me tomorrow. It’s very inconvenient and frustrating to be informed the day before. They could have let me know weeks in advance or fit me in the same day with a different Dr. I don’t want to be rude but it takes 9months for a baby to be born. I couldn’t get a notice in the last 6 months about the changes ?
