Nice, calm, clean and decent place to go with family. They have facility for cloak room, washrooms and cafeteria which is clean and nice. They maintain guidelines for COVID-19. Opens all days in a week except Friday. One can purchased few food items for monkeys too and serve them. Also has some rides and small theme park for kids. One has to pay additional charges to use them. We paid Rs 130 for 4 adults and a 7 year old kid.

The place is located in the heart of the city yet separates calm from chaos. The premises are well maintained and the animals are always wonderful to watch and experience. The aviary, snake house and the mammals dwell in this tiny jungle and are very welcoming. Do take your kids, a must visit place. Can enjoy snacks in and outside the zoo.

I had the pleasure of visiting Gwalior Zoo on Wednesday, November 15th, 2023 accompanied by my wife and our 8-year-old and 5-year-old daughters. Comparing this visit to last year's, I am delighted to note a significant improvement in the upkeep and maintenance of the zoo. The animals appeared exceptionally healthy, and the overall ambiance was impressive. The zoo is commendably well-staffed, ensuring both safety and security for visitors. One aspect that stood out was the stringent enforcement of cleanliness guidelines by the vigilant security staff and shopkeepers, contributing to a hygienic and enjoyable experience. We had the opportunity to observe a diverse range of animals, including lions, white tigers, leopards, sloth bears, ostriches, emus, crocodiles, alligators, sambhars, spotted deer, various exotic birds, snakes, and Indian foxes. Not only does the zoo cater to wildlife enthusiasts, but it also provides a dedicated play area for children. Additionally, the availability of a well-maintained eating area with a selection of shops offering bottled water, tea, coffee, wafers, puffs, and more added to the overall convenience. In summary, our visit to Gwalior Zoo in 2023 was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Kudos to the zoo management for their efforts in creating a well-maintained and secure environment. Keep up the excellent work. Note - The zoo releases only one tiger at a time to ensure that the tigers don't fight with each other and are kept safe. Check the timing with the Zoo staff prior to your visit if you are keen on seeing the white tiger and cubs. Usually they release the white tiger first thing in the morning (around 9 am) and in the evening (around 4 pm).

Gwalior Zoo is Located at heart of the city. There are different type of birds, kids are happy to see the Zoo animals, birds reptiles etc. There can be some improvement in cutting of plants around the sight area so kids can see the animals or birds easily. Overall we are happy for visiting the Zoo.

Beautiful and clean zoo. There are many animals here, their enclosures are well made and spacious..except for a few birds. We could see water being changed in the animal enclosures. Also there are groups of animals in every enclosure, like there are 4 hippos together, multiple lions together. It was fun to watch them play together. Outside food is not permitted, there is a good canteen inside the zoo. Washrooms and drinking water is available. There is a separate enclosure for birds and reptiles. All in all a lovely place to visit specially with kids.

The happiness was seeing the healthy animals. Quite well maintained though some supervision should be there. However I personally felt this zoo is better than Delhi zoo in terms of visibility of animals and their health.

At first I thought that it's just some random zoo with very few creatures, but it's actually opposite. its Such a great place and a must visit if you come here in Gwalior. You'll really enjoy it if you visit with your family or friends. The number of bird types they have is really amusing, and once you enter there are two ways left and right so you've go left.. it's the start and the right one is the end. I'd suggest you to come here at around 3~4pm it would be the idle time to see everything. Rest I won't ruin your fun just visit it yourself. Also if you are student then don't forget to bring your student id as your fare will be reduced to ₹30 on the other hand for adult it's ₹50/person. Here I'm attaching some pics of zoo, have a look..😉

Gwalior is an exciting city with a rich heritage, and the Gwalior Zoo is just another feather in the cap. Established by the royal family Madhao Rao Scindia back in 1922, the Gandhi zoo (as it is also known) is actually a section of a larger garden known as Phool Bagh and houses various rare species of animals. Golden peasants, sambhars, bison, hyena, spotted deer, black bucks and a white tiger forms the variety of wild animals that can be found here. Several smaller populations of crocodiles, snakes, monkeys, and birds have also made the zoo their home. Due to its inhabitation of rare species of wild animals, the 8 hectares of land that constitutes the zoo has been declared to be a protected site, maintained by the Municipal Corporation of Gwalior as part of its inheritance. The Phool Bagh was inaugurated by the Prince of Wales almost a hundred years ago, and it continues to be well-maintained and conserved even today, including the provision of good and clean habitation facilities for the animals. The Phool Garden also houses a prayer hall, gurudwara, mosque as well as a theosophical lodge. The Gwalior Zoo makes for a pleasant outing with family, especially for kids. It is also an attractive destination for enthusiasts who would like to see wildlife in the city, including rare and protected species such as the white tiger.

Gwalior Zoo is a compact size Zoological park in the City of Gwalior. It is located near to Italian Garden and Bija Talab pond. Gwalior zoo is easily accessible by public transport tempo service. The park is small compared with other Zoological parks but well maintained and easy to explore. It has a pair of White Tiger, Royal Bengal Tiger, Asiatic Lion and more than a dozen of Crocodiles. It also having a seperate area for various reptiles like Cobra Snake and some other species of snackes, Monitor Lizard and some more reptiles. Adjacent to reptiles house there is birds zone where you can see so many species of indian and international birds. So overall its a good place to time pass small park in area with enough animals, the entry ticket price is 30 rs for Indian Visitors.

The entry fees for zoo is 50 per person. The place is decent to visit with kids and family. Carry water with you the zoo since you have to walk a lot. Zoo area is not big. It is located within the city boundaries. Though if you come by your vehicle it has parking space. White tiger is an attraction. Canteen in the zoo area selling biselari bottles(sound similar to bisleri) which is definitely a -ve for me as they don't allow you to carry food and water bottles from outside. Some fun activities for small kids available at reasonable prices.

Please have some concern for the animals of zoo.The zoo is so small no place for animals all look tired and unhappy and restless.crocodile pond is extremely small and three crocodiles.hippo pond is so small even for one human and two hippos...is it mandatory to include so many animals when there is no space. The deer herd lives in such narrow space pls either shift the animals to other zoo or leave them in wild but don't force them in extreme small spaces for sake of entertainment.who.ever is managing the zoo is keeping a blind eye towards the capacity of zoo and how animals r actually surviving

I was visiting a Zoo after a long time and believe me the journey was worth while. It was experiencing the long lost adored childhood memories all over again. If you have the love for animals it's a must visit. The best thing that I liked about this Zoo is that animals are kept in a good spacious place where they roam and also they have a family or somebody of their fellow species to keep them company. And the variety of every kind of species that they have kept and taken care of great to see. Also a good amount of distance is maintained between the animals and humans so that nobody can harm each other. Though seeing some birds and animals made me sad about them being in captivity. But since they are well feed and kept in good condition one can bear to see them as they are. That being said I would really urge people to not sit at home or go to malls like always but also go to such places in a weather like this and be one with all kinds of living beings and appreciate the creation. Its a must visit place.

The place is nice. But the species here are slowly disappears because of improper care like less food given to animal and also there is improper check up of animals. If it will continue then there will be a day when there will no animal, species will be left. Authorities must look upon these issues soon.

A small zoo to visit. Good for children and elders who wants to be entertained but can not walk much. Also known as the Gandhi Zoo, it is one of the popular city attractions and an ideal spot for a day tour or weekend getaway with family and friends. If you are planning to visit the Gwalior Zoo, here is what to expect. Built in the year 1992 by Madhavrao Scindia as Mahatma Gandhi Zoological Park, the place forms a section of the larger garden named Phool Bagh, which also houses a gurdwara, mosque, theosophical lodge and a prayer hall. Spread across 8 hectares of land, the zoo serves as a home to some rare and commonly found species of wild animals. Due to the presence of rare animal species, the zoo has been declared to be a protected site maintained by the Municipal Corporation of Gwalior as a part of its inheritance.

It was nice to visit and get to see cute and beautiful creatures(birds especially). Some of the creatures did really baffle me with their beauty and made me admit nature as the best artist for real. Now talking about the ambience, it seem a lot out of order, and not much taken care of. The roads are all clean and you get chilled and clean water to drink, but the cells in which the animals live are all worn out and really messy. You'll get to see white Tigers, lions and lioness, cheeta but all them looked weak, skinny and pale (maybe because of the hot summers, but who knows🤷🏻‍♂️). Thirdly, talking about variety of the animals, you see different species of birds, parrots, pegions, vultures, ducks, and a lot more type of birds all of them considerably cute and beautiful. Talking about animals you can also see lions, tigers, deers, monkeys, bears, etc. Considering reptiles you can witness anaconda, Cobra, Russell viper, and few more types of snakes, monitor lizzard, and alligators and crocodiles as well! Thankyou and have fun visiting.

Also known as Gandhi Prani Udhyan or Gandhi Zoo, Gwalior Zoo is one of the most beautiful zoological parks in Madhya Pradesh. The Gandhi Zoo is a part of a huge garden known as Phool Bagh which was built by Madhao Rao Scindia in 1922 and it was inaugurated by Wales Prince in the same year. A very small zoo but variety of animals from bear, crocodile, tiger, white tiger, lion, chirping birds, and many more. Very quite and cool place, with woods. Ticket price is mere 20-30 Rs. A little Toy train children would love the most.

Gwalior zoo has been a prominent highlight for the people and specially the kids in the city. It always hosts a large variety of animals and takes good care of them. Also of note are the various slides/swings and children's activities which are a joy for the kids. Though covid has been hard on government finances, it was heartening to see so many animals being taken good care of.

  • 3/5 Ankit K. 2 years ago on Google

All collection are in good shape . Actually in super healthy shape . Though one side is true that it feels bad that they are in small place like they stuck in a cage . But one side is also true that here they atleast get proper treatment with care . So positive and negative both comes altogether . But keeping aside that argument if you come with family for spending some time then it's really osm place . Your childrens can see approximately every kind of animals . They have really large collection 🤩🤩.

A good place to visit. Has a surprisingly big collection of species. The tiger and lion enclosures are impressive. so are the crocodile and bear enclosures. They have a very large collection of bird species. Good place to visit. Even in the scorching sun, there is a good tree cover in the zoo.

During my recent visit to Gwalior, I had the opportunity to explore the city's renowned Gwalior Zoo. Nestled in the heart of the city, this zoological park offers a delightful escape into the world of diverse wildlife. As an animal enthusiast, I was eager to see what this zoo had to offer, and I must say that I was not disappointed. First and foremost, the layout and maintenance of Gwalior Zoo are commendable. The zoo is spread across a significant area, providing ample space for the animals to roam and thrive. The enclosures are well-maintained, clean, and thoughtfully designed to mimic the natural habitats of the animals. It was evident that the zoo authorities put great effort into creating a comfortable and enriching environment for the animals.
