Huge Ancient Jain idols are here. Most of the idols are ruined by the Mughals. Just below the parvat there's a garden which has peacocks 🦚 This place is one of kind with marvellous architecture. Hill rocks are cut out and huge huge idols are made.

It is d🤩old beautiful designation of Gwalior Fort🏛️. U hv to reach there by a 👉🏻short Treks of 1km. On it's way u can visit Shri Digambar Jain temple 🛕. Frm d above u can hv d🤩 beautiful view of Gwalior city & d😇 atmosphere is so peaceful. On d way u can enjoy d natural beauty✨, flower🌸🍂🌺, tree etc🌳. As per history👉🏻 they depict Tirthankaras in seated Padmasana posture as well as standing Kayotsarga posture, in d typical😳 naked form of Jain iconography. 🤔There r 5clusters of monuments that surround d hill in 1901⛰️👇🏻 :- Urvahi grp now termed as Siddhachal Caves :- South-East grp now Gopachal Atishya Kshetra by local Jain community :- South-West grp now termed as Trishalagiri :- North-West grp now termed as Naminath Giri grp after Lord Naminath :- North-East grp now termed as Naimgir group after Lord Neminath The salvation place of omniscient supratishthit 26 caves⛰️ hv more than 1500 idols over 800meter, largest one is of Lord Parshwanathji, it is 42 feet tall & 30 feet broad. This place is a part of nearly 100 Jain⛩️ monuments found in & around d city, but these r dated 😱earlier than Siddhachal Caves. Both monuments were🔨 defaced & desecrated around 1527 when d👑 Emperor Babur ordered their destruction⚔️. In 1527 d Urvahi Jinas were mutilated by 👑Mughal emperor Babar, a fact he records in his memoirs. A very short Trek of 1 km, even my mother did it without any trouble. But the view and what humans achieved with their hands both in creating is just amazing. Also an example of how evil forces didn't even leave destruction of such religious monuments.

Pathetic administration system, not allowing single male and female friends to go inside and visit the temple. It's strictly against the public who are really trying to visit. Very rude behaviour from he guy who is sitting inside the premises... Such a pathetic arguments, even though when I belong to the same community. Still there aren't any rules in our Jain texts for the things he is not allowing to visit.

Wonderful...jain teerthankars idols are carved on rocks...there are 26 caves and big and small many idols are there (more than 90)....it was made in around 1425-59 by Tomar King...many idols are damaged ...We have to cross approx 50 stairs to reach those caves, A beautiful garden has been maintened over there. The whole way is having shades of trees all over. Gulab vatika is also there. There are 2 more temples of new construction having many idols in the base of the temple, umbrellas and bags are kept there for visitors for their convenience. One must see this, having a history, natural scenic serene beauty of a forest too.

Best place as a Jain cave. Under supervision of ASI. The Jain temple encroachment at the base is illegal and they misguide people who come to visit Gopachal Parvat. There is no need of removal of shoes/ chappals to visit this ASI protected site. But the encroachers make tourists to do so. Itakes painful for everybody especially for elders to climb the rough stairs with naked feet. The shrines are not worshipped here but they are magnificent to see.

Saw these when I visited Gwalior Fort back in January. I saw these on the way down from Gwalior Fort and they’re definitely worth stopping for if you have time. The Gopachal Parvat are a series of rock-cut Jain monuments depicting Tirthankaras in various Padmasana and Kayotsarga postures. The statues have been around since the 7th century and in spite of their age the monuments have survived in fairly good condition and retain their splendour.

This is heritage property of gwalior which is acquired by a religious group and used as their private land. You will only be allowed to visit if you are jain otherwise they will not let you go inside to visit. Very poor way of talking and behavior is used with visitors.

The place where you can definitely find peace. Statues here are carved in the mountains itself. Jain monks and community people come here for workshiping , Other people too get mesmerising experience when they pay visit to this parvat. You can pay visit in all season as you will get all different good experience of natural beauty.

Highly underrated and unexplored by the tourists. It is quiet and far from the hustle bustle of yhe busy tourist areas of the city and provides a serene space to look at the city from the top. 4 stars for the space, greenery and art and a star less for the stairs that are really uneven and painful. But I guess its a religious place and not a hotel, so yeah, that is hardly an issue.

Amazingly beautiful place. Great place to look through the history. Statues are huge but most of them has face destroyed. Because of some nuisance in past, the place is only open for families. There is a Jain Temple at foothills, from where you have to climb some stairs to visit the Rock cut statues.

If you are looking for a short trek which is serene and simple, super clean and full of nature, with historical landmarks, and breath of fresh air, then this place is for you. You won't be allowed slippers/shoes inside (not good in scorching summers). You also are not supposed to eat here. So be prepared for that. This place is religious and is not for picnics! Be vigilant of the language you use here. Preferred by families rather than groups/friends.

Very few would know about existence of such beautiful and well preserved piece of history. Situated on Gopachal parvat are these beautiful statues of Tirthankaras carved out of stone. The place is also popularly known as 'ek Patthar ki Baoli'. A well kept secret, a peaceful destination and a photographer paradise.

This is amazing place for jain temple and great architecture. You can't believe how the artisans curved the Gopachal Parvat from inside to creat the Mahavir and other idols of Jain monks. Just remember that you will have to walk through the stone stairs barefoot (without socks) which is quite painful and you may hurt yourself if not careful.

A magnificent yet serene place with 30-40 feet high statues of Jain monks cutout from a single rock, embedded in it. The detailing and structure of the place needs to be seen. Its an easy 10 minute walk up steps, can be easily taken by senior citizens as well. Lucky to have this treasure in India.

It is an amazing place a testament to our nations true lost history. you will.qonder with sheer disbelief at not only how these marvelous murtis were carved into solid rock but also the brutality with which the mougals tried to destroy our culture. Gopachal Parvat is just so beautiful and mesmerizing. We entered these beautiful carved mountains from the Digambar Mandir side. I would suggest u do the same, just keep a few things in mind. The people in the temple are very orthodox, so please wear full clothes, they won't let u climb with ur socks on, only barefoot allowed. Maintain the dignity of this place, bcoz they won't think twice before insulting u for bad behavior. Apart from all these inconveniences, this is a must visit place. U'll be fascinated by the carvings of the tirthankaras. We spent an hour here, totally worth it. I think it's about half a km trek to reach the statues. U can enjoy the journey too with peace and tranquility all around u

Along with Gwalior Fort, Gwalior is famous for its huge and extremely small statues of Jain Tirthankars made by cutting the rocks on the slopes and cliffs of the hill on which Fortress wall is built.  Most of the tourists in Gwalior tourism are unable to visit these heritage sites. While going from Urvahi Gate to Fort Gate or Alamgir Gate, Gopachal Parvat is located on the left side. It is a pilgrimage along with its unique idols. Gopachal Parvat is almost opposite side of the Siddhachal Parvat which is also having the Rock cut Jain images and among all the Adinath's statue is the huge one. Gopachal is known for the seventh Jain Tirthankar Suparsha nath and this image is also spectacular sitting on a lotus and about 45 feet high. There are many niches and caves having the statues. About 26 in numbers including the water tank cut from a single rock. These are protected monuments and well maintained as slope is having lot of trees and plants. A temple and then to access the site about 150 steps to be climbed. Then as a spectator I was wondered. These images are having inscriptions on the pedestales which mentioned about the builders and they were Kirti Singh and Dungar Singh of Tomar Dynasty. These statues were consecrated with proper rituals as temples, hence this fort has become a dedicated shrine of Jainism. It's a major attraction among the history buffs wanderers soulseekers heritage art and architecture lovers and a popular tourist attraction among the devotees. It needs two hours and nearest attractions are Alamgir Gate, Badal Gate, Italian Garden etc. Drinking water and washrooms are available.
