One of the must visit place in Gwalior. This is a museum dedicated to Maratha and Scindia dynasty. You can see the evolution of Maratha dynasty here. Silver train was very interesting and beautiful. Some artifacts shows that how much advance Scindia palace was during that time. this palace is very easy reach from the railway station.

Beautiful palace within gwalior city. The architecture is great and the museums are worth visiting. The fee is 300 per person which is a bit too high.

Gorgeous Schindia time Palace. Humongous & worth the watch of their lifestyle and luxury. Very well maintained so be careful not to touch or spoil anything. Ticket cost ₹300 for Indians Requires 2-3 hours to see most of the open place allowed to public.

Amazing collection of Scindia Dynasty's lore and grandeur. Sufficient parking is available and ticket is Rs. 300 per head. One may carry camera or phone without tripod inside but eatables are strictly prohibited inside. There is a small canteen at the entrance.

High price ticket and rude staff members. 300 rupees for adults and 5y above . Way too expensive. Felt like this blood sucking is still continue by this royals, this mahal may crated with the all chauths 1/4 tax from pheasants. And still continues by making 300 rs ticket for common visitors Staff members of Museums also rude don’t allow my mom to in-front of mahal with out ticket who just want to see the mahal from outside and click a picture. If any one from Royal family read this review , kindly ask staff member to be polite and drop ticket charges.

A beautiful Palace both from outside and inside. It is the Palace of Scindias. However, the toilet which is kept for public use was very bad, not clean after seeing the beautiful Palace for almost 2 hours, I was so disappointed with the toilet. The Palace grounds are also beautiful. There is lot of security as well.

So this vast space has been converted for the tourists as a museum. Interesting and fascinating. However, some restoration is required and some massive cleaning is required. Moisture has broken through and the walls are dessicating which require repairs. I know every museum has the same issues but considering the cost of the ticket there has to be some justification. An one time sight for sure. It is just an amazing place .But please go in morning and be their till evening .I am sure you will not regret after going inside the palace💖💖bags have to be left in lockers. The museum is well curated, the decor is stunning! The chandelier room is what will definitely take your breath away.It was interesting to see how former Indian rules lived. Ticket for foreigners is 850 rupees (for kid as well) - that’s huge money in comparison with other places of interest in India & turned our to be our biggest expense during the 3 week tour. To tell the true, not sure that it’s worth it - there are lots of palaces in different countries much more interesting and impressive. Anyway, you should decide it by yourself 😉Entry timings: 10:00 am to 4:30 pm Ticket charges: 100 INR Time required: 2 to 3 hours

Wow what a wonderful palace it is. In my whole life I have seen for the very time this kind of luxury. Everything is made of silver, big mirrors, big paintings, old designer furniture, dresses everything is luxurious. The food train, silver plates and spoons, the silver jadau chairs, big washroom,..it's so amazing. In one word I can say it's a wow thing. One must visit here.

It's a worth watch one. This is a palace completely built in European style in the 19th century. You can explore the way of luxury the Scindia dynasty lived and also the history of Scindia inside this palace. One seperate gallery is made for the late union minister and then King of the Gwalior Sri Madava Rao Scindia. Which depicts the full life of him and his timeline. But the ticket are somewhat costly which costs rs 300 per head. You can take photos inside the palace but cant shoot videos or make video calls.

Jai Vilas Palace is a must visit place at Gwalior. Easy to reach and Rs. 300 for Indian nationals. MONDAYS CLOSED. Check before visiting because sometimes it is closed on government gazzted holidays and also for their family purpose. Except mobile and small valets nothing allowed inside including water. Lockers available at the entrance. Need to keep all our things in the locker while entering the palace and we can keep the keys. Only photos allowed and no videography. Such a vast place. We can feel the richness of the Scindia family in each and every corner of the palace. Also the technology which blended with the art a& craft. The silver train and grill machines at kitchen are amazing. Huge collections of swords, guns...and so many artifacts collection of the Scandias exhibited. It has been displayed with proper lighting which enhances the beauty of the products... The main Darbar hall is under renovation ďuring August 2023. Rest of the places marvelous. Visit and know the history of Marathas and Scandias. Feel the royalness....

Well maintenance by the present Raja, ticket is expensive, but worth your time and visit. Pl note they don't allow water, hand bags inside this palace and tell you to drink water from illmaintained RO water, so that you fall sick and suffer. Be ready to experience rude staff and their manager.

Its a Palace cum Museum, ticket price as of July 2022 is Rs 300 per person. You will get to see interesting things including weapons, carriage, swords, german machine guns and more used during their time. If you have explored everything in the city and have at least 2 hours spare time, you can visit this palace.

Man this is amongst one of the biggest palaces i have visited till now. The ticket price per person is 300 ruppee since this palace is still maintained by The Scindia Royal Family. I would recommend to take a guide with you which will cost 250 ruppees if you wish to recover the cost of tickets 😂. The palace is a true example of Indian and European style combined. The museum is a must visit it's just fabulous 😍

The palace is known for its opulence and houses the Scindia Museum, which displays a vast collection of artifacts, including the world's largest pair of chandeliers. It is advisable to take a tour guide with you. One needs 2-3 hours to explore the palace.

Beautiful palace and a huge one, entry fee Rs.300/-per head but worth every penny. Palace has been kept in good condition unlike many other historical monuments in India. Obviously to keep it in such a good condition they need high maintenance cost.

I am not into these kind of museums. It was all about just one family and portraying itself positively. Well, It's there museums so they can do it but 300 rs is not worth it, I think. Go see if you want to see family dynasty and how rich this family was and is.

A splendor of a different kind exists in the Jai Vilas Palace, current residence of the Scindia family. Some 25 rooms have been turned into the Jivaji Rao Scindia Museum, and in these rooms , so evocative of a regal lifestyle, the past comes alive. Jai Vilas is an Italianate structure which combines the Tuscan and Corinthian architectural modes. The imposing Darbar Hall has two central chandeliers weighing a couple of tonnes, and hung only after ten elephants had tested the strength of the roof. Ceilings picked out in gilt, heavy draperies and tapestries , fine Persian carpets and antique furniture from France and Italy are the features of these spacious rooms. Eye catching treasures include : a silver train with cutglass wagons which served guests as it chugged around the table on miniature rails; a glass cradle from Italy used for the baby Krishna each Janmashtami, silver dinner services and swords that were once worn by Aurangzeb and Shah Jahan. These are ,besides, personal momentoes of past members of the Scindia family : the jeweled slippers that belonged to Chinkoo Rani , four-poster beds, gifts from practically every country in the world, hunting trophies and portraits. The Scindia Museum offers an unparalled glimpse into the rich culture and lifestyle of princely India. Timings : 10.00 AM to 5:00 PM : Wensday Closed Distance from Railway Station / Bus Stand : 1.5 -2 Kms. Approx.

Massive palace with 400 rooms. Every detail of the Scindia family with their history is preserved and displayed for the tourists. It's fascinating to see the rich and royalty of the recent era. Ticket is a bit expensive. 600 for 2

Very beautiful premises. One can buy tickets at the entrance. All the sections are divided and display the Royal Lifestyle of different generations. The description mentioned is in VERY SMALL FONTS which is difficult to read.

The Jai Vias Palace is a pvt proper which is partial museum and partially the home of the royal family of Scindias who still use it as their residence as well he parts of the museum esp the conf hall etc The museum covers the history of the Scindia family and also gives us a glimpse of the royal lifestyle of its family members from the dining room to the bedroom to the bathroom. The most interesting things are the world's heaviest chandelier being in the palace along with having a miniature functional locomotive to serve food on spl occassion in the royal dining area.

Jai vilas palace was built under Jayajirao Scindia in 1874. Part of the palace which is open to public is called Jiwaji Rao Scindia Museum. The palace is truly beautiful and well maintained, however the museum lacked detailed text descriptions of artefacts and rooms, in my opinion. To experience and get a better feel of the palace, perhaps a guide could be useful. They’d charge you about ₹250. I myself didn’t take one, so can not comment on how well that would go. The entry fee for the museum is ₹300 per person. Depending on who you are, you may or may not feel that the price is justified, however, I myself would recommend you to definitely go and see the palace for yourself if you’re interested in royalty. From a historical point of view, you may not get a lot from the place, as there’s a lack of detailed text descriptions that would help you relate with everything better. But it’s anyway, a good experience to have in my view. Note: I’d taken a lot of photos, but I’m not posting them here because I think it’s better for you to see everything in person.

It was a great trip there & everything I saw there is mesmerizing, I love the architecture & built of the palace that even in hard hot weather its cold inside even without AC or air coolers , that BMW & FORD was eye catching & oh my god those chandeliers were around 80 tonnes & the ceiling was painted with Gold and those roofs still have the power to hold those heavy chandeliers. Dining hall have a toy train which is of Silver to serve the food to all sitting on the table. For indian citizen entry fee is 300₹ its all worth for these experience.

Personally I did not like this place. This is a private museum and charges are exorbitant. Per person 300 ticket and guide another 300. They don’t allow videography inside. In the museum are rude.

A very well maintained showcase of the riches and grandeur of Indian maharajas. It takes almost 2 hours to cover all the exhibitions. The tickets cost Rs 300 each for Indians which is a bit high for the common people.
