I never tire coming here. Lovely little place. Added to a visit to Hardy's Cottage and Max Gate. The guided tour I had was so informative. The volunteers are worth there weight in gold. Each time I come I learn another fact. Enjoy your visit when you come 👍

Thomas Edward Lawrence was a very unassuming character and lived in this very unassuming house. Personally, I felt a great affinity with it. Lawrence is one of my heroes for many, many reasons. Seeing where and how he lived affected me quite deeply. The house itself is very sparsely furnished, just as it was when he lived there. Nearly all the items in the house were designed and commissioned by Lawrence himself. You will appreciate much about the man on by seeing these things. The house is set in a three quarter acre plot which must have been wonderful surroundings for him. If you can appreciate that great people do not have to live in great houses, you will appreciate this place.

This is a fascinating place, where you can learn more about the man himself, T.E.Lawrence (aka..Lawrence of Arabia). He achieved so much for his country and had a very full and interesting life, which was tragically cut short just 500 or so yards down the road from the cottage, where there is a small memorial at the roadside, near to the spot of his fatal motorcycle accident. The cottage is maintained very well, staffed by very friendly and knowledgeable guides. Allow about an hour or so to have a good look around as it is only a small place. It is a real time capsule, more or less as it was in 1935, when Lawrence lived there and it gives a brief insight into his life. We did the Lawrence of Arabia trail, visiting Clouds Hill cottage, the roadside memorial and his well maintained grave at the church yard, in nearby Moreton, which was poignant but rewarding and we will do again one day.

Some kind of meeting face to face with Lawrence of the Arabian, through appreciating his daily life details. He is more than a hero, but is some kind of legends. Not too far away (400 yards) from Clouds Hill by the road in front of it is the fatal accident spot designated with a memorial stone and a tree.

This isn't the biggest or most impressive site but the volunteers and original items contained make it extremely interesting as better understood TE Lawrence (I.e. Lawrence of Arabia's) life. You have to prebook the tour to see the cottage. The tour was about 25-30 minutes outside, where we sat on benches and heard the volunteer tell of his life from birth and how he came to acquire the cottage. We then went inside breaking into smaller groups (two groups of four), where other volunteers inside would give details of the room (as it was all original furnishings) and answer any additional questions. The house itself is small - 4 rooms (two on each floor), then an exterior shed that now has brief info on his life. We spent about an hour there, and I realized I actually knew very little about him beforehand! Other FYIs: - free parking on site - Must prebook - One clean toilet on site - No tea room or refreshments on site

This is the property where TE Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) spent the latter part of his life until his untimely demise down the road after a motorcycle accident. Lawrence was a confirmed bachelor and his small house was adapted with some quite laterally thinking concepts to make his life easier (such as lining his bedroom with foil for insulation, etc.). The National Trust do a very good job of preserving this property from decay and it is a pleasure to visit.

The house was interesting but what gave it the 5 stars were the brilliant guides and the knowledge they shared. Also great information about the church where his funeral was. We spoke to three and they were all interesting. Thanks guys

An amazing tale of a retreat from fame for an iconic British individual who died so young, having achieved so much.

A very enjoyable visit. Despite not having booked, the very helpful man upon arrival managed to fit us in. The guide gave us lots of information and history of the cottage and Lawrence of Arabia.

A lovely little place with a great atmosphere. All the staff / volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable. A place of pilgrimage for all interested in Lawrence.

This cottage is so tiny that the life of T. E. Lawrence starts on a bench outside! The enthusiastic guides are all passionate about a great man who captured the imagination of a nation. It's worth the short walk up behind the cottage for the view.

Our visit to this most unique of places was truly memorable .. the location, the history & the friendly welcome as we arrived. The volunteers are a wealth of knowledge & the four good folks we met at Clouds Hill had the capacity to share that knowledge with integrity, sensitivity & genuine affection for the man who called Clouds Hill home, albeit for a very short time! It’s a place which ‘stands alone’ with a sense it’s owner had just stepped out probably on his beloved Brough Superior! The sunny spot to hear an overview of Lawrence’s background delivered with clarity & good humour by Andrew to the lovely lady who appreciated our genuine sense of privilege to actually be there .. then hearing Ivor speak of this somewhat enigmatic man & each time we asked a question had the phrase ‘ah! Well there’s a story about that..’ Thank you, the dedication of the volunteers, the unhurried visit to enjoy the moment & a sense of connection to a bygone era will stay with us as a treasured memory

A very small but significant N.T. property , made fascinating by the welcoming and very knowledgeable guides. It definitely made me want to learn more about T.E.Lawrence's life..

Lawrence of Arabia's old house is pretty much as he left it, on the day he rode his motorcycle down to the local Post Office and was killed in a road accident on his way back home. It is a quiet, unassuming place and the tour guides certainly know their stuff! Just down the main road, the location of Lawrence's fatal crash is marked by a stone in a small car park facing the area where the Army's Tanks often practice exercises. The stone faces inwards, away from the road. This is because the original road is now partly in the Tank exercise area. If you have an interest in Lawrence, this place is a must-see. Entry is by pre-booking via The National Trust website. Entry fees are very modest. If you like Tanks, Bovingdon Tank Museum is a mile down the road.

Just turned up on the off chance as passing. We were the only 2 there and had the most interesting talk by our first guide, about Lawrence's life and background, of which we had little idea. Small house but the guides make it so much more colouring in with lots of detail. Their knowledge never ending . Thankyou for that. I especially would like to thank the female guide who told us about Moreton Church and Lawrence's burial place and fantastic walled garden nearby.

An interesting place once occupied by a very much more interesting man.

Lovely gem of a place to visit. Learnt so much from the guide who was clearly passionate about the history of the place. We spent about an hour and half here. The place is left as Lawrence of Arabia left it before he set off on his fateful journey on his motorbike where he was killed crashing into a tree...he wore no crash helmet :-/ since then, it was made compulsory to wear one. Beautiful little cottage, but with a busy road next to it. Car parking was free and just a short 2 min walk away. We visited in the rain but it didn't spoil the enjoyment. Not really a place for young children to visit.

A lovely place, not even "modest" this fella lived a big life in a very small place, this one. Hard to believe a lot of what's going bang in the middle east these days (last hundred years or so...)was, in some ways, influenced by this fella, I don't mean he started it but was in the middle of somewhere. While visiting here I could hear tanks rumbling behing the trees and off to the south tank gunners were letting rip the next generation of guided artillery munitions, makes for a rather interesting day out. The staff are lovely and knowledgeable but are constrained by timed slots, it's a popular place so please do book ahead (online booking is quick and faff-free). The house is preserved as the protagonist left it, simple comfort but most of his book collection are so rare they're under the wing of the Ashmolean I think? Enough parking for perhaps 10 cars and I suppose I should mention access is unsuitable for some folk, I'm 6'6" and have prosthetic leg and found the stairs challenging but made it up without too much moaning, ask the staff in advance for info but wheelchairs look like they'd hit problems. Cheers

I personally found this fascinating. it's a small, low-key place, not a stately house! But the story it tells is super interesting, aided by the knowledgeable enthusiasm of the guides. Lovely green spot also.

Poignant woodman's cottage, lived in by T E Lawrence, very well restored by National Trust. Interesting tour guides. Limited parking area

Interesting place and history of this man. How he lived his life and his eventual death in a road accident. If you're interested in the life of T. E. Lawrence the this is a must on the to go to list.
