Absolutely stunning! The memorial walk doesn't take long to complete however the view will definitely extend your stay πŸ˜„ The memorial walk is connected to Strzelecki lookout, you can park your car at the lookout and start walking down from the bridge towards Merewether beach. The walk is quite easy, the only point where there are stays is at the end of the memorial walk when it starts to connect you back to suburban areas. Highly recommend this walk for anyone visiting Newcastle!

I had the privilege of visiting the "New Castle Memorial Walk" in NSW, Australia, and it left a profound impression. The breathtaking coastal views from this soaring bridge were absolutely captivating, providing a poignant backdrop to the memorial's significance. The walk itself is a testament to the region's rich history and the sacrifices of those who served. The well-maintained pathway, informative plaques, and serene ambiance made it a moving and educational experience. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking a blend of natural beauty, history, and reflection, and it stands as a poignant tribute to the past.

Nice and informative coastal walk about the first world war. The day we visited this place was a bit windy. You will find amazing panoramic views of Newcastle city and also the coastline.

Beautiful scenic walk along the coast. The only down side and not advertised is that there are stairs after about 450 Meters of starting and prams cannot go beyond that. A big disappointment but never the less beautiful walk.

Great scenic walk high up along the cliff. Park at the top can be limited. If you can walk up, plenty of carparka by the beach side

Park your car here, you can walk on both sides, one side is the city view and the other is the sea view, you must come here to enjoy this view, you can walk up to the other end to see the sea. Great place to take pictures for your girl. It is very easy to park here, there is a small parking lot and there are many places on the road.

Netty. Was. Here. Paying my respects. After telling a story to the staff at Fort Scratchly’s they directed me here. Where my Great Great Uncle (served alongside my Great Grandfather, his brother and many in laws) is commemorated for the loss of his life in the Great War. A stunning walk over a 160 metre cliff top bridge adorned with steel silhouettes of soldiers inscribed with close to 4,000 family names.

Amazing place to go for a walk and enjoy the beachside views. I just love it there. The Memorial Walk is informative, you can learn a lot from it. It was a cloudy day but really enjoyable. Has a coffe place with food to have beside the beach, fully recommended in sunny and warms days.

A really nice walk with panoramic views of Newcastle. Stunning at night and day and perfect to walk up to after having something to eat or drink down at Darby street. Very windy at night so might be best to bring a light jacket. There's also a small carpark right at the top. The memorial walk itself is quite short but it does take you all the way down to Bar beach so it's a good starting point for people wanting to lounge at the beach.

Beautiful walk by the ocean. Enjoy scenic ocean view while walking through the bushes and reading contributions of Australian forces in World War I. Walk has some stairs and steep surface you need to climb to.

Clean, easy, good view. Somone had left a bunch of smashed crockery there. It would be good if somone were able to clean more often, but I understand limitations

The walk is wonderful , the ocean view is so impressive, the waves are so big and I can see rainbow. Also spot some dolphins in distance. Highly recommended

Such a meaningful and beautiful place. The memorial walk oversees not just the rugged coast but the city. What a dignified way to commemorate the contributions of the deserving people.

A fantastic walk really recommend doing Newcastle Memorial Walk opened in 2015 we walked from the car park just north of Merewether Surf Club along the cliffs and headland through a park and a secret garden then on to the radar surveillance historic site and past the Bogey Hole another great spot for a swim then head on back down to Merewether Surf house for great views and cocktails 🍸

Beautiful and respectful walk. Bonus was seeing a pod of dolphins. Heaps for parking at the bottom end but you need to climb quite a few stairs. Park at the top end and you go do the majority of the walk and best views without any steps making it accessible. Downside is limited parking close by but there are two disabled parks.

Stunning bit of coastline! 🌊 There are some stairs, but it's worth it. This walk reminds me of the Bondi to Manly walk in Sydney near Dover Heights, epic cliff views that spill out onto a beach. Great history info along the Anzac Bridge. And have a coffee at Swell at the end! β˜•

An awesome walk along the coastline. Wheelchair parking, Suitable for wheelchairs and prams when leaving from the top. Stairs at the southern end. No dogs allowed.

Beautiful and short walk to take in the views of the ocean and the city. We got there at sundown and it was a beautiful sight to see the city lights. Highly recommend.

One of the must see places in Newcastle. Can get great views from this place. The whole city center is visible from this place. There is a parking on the opposite side of the beach for people who cannot ascend from the stairs.

Fantastic walk along the cliff tops. Excellent views to sea (pun intended) The wind was so strong today it ripped my wig off. If I don’t get it back there will be hell to pay.

  • 5/5 Bali M. 10 months ago on Google
Easy walk with spectacular views. If you park in the carpark walk up the pathway to get to the top then finish the walk down the stairs.

  • 5/5 Alastair D. 9 months ago on Google
Stunning walk, especially at sunset. Take your time and read about some of the history of the area. Be prepared for some stairs, and note that dogs are not allowed.

Nice walk from Scott St, slightly hilly. Amazing views. Shepherds Hill cottage sits on top of the hill with historical battlement lookout perched on edge of cliff. Parking out front if coming by car and apparently close to start of Memorial Walk which I will do for another day. Sadly graffiti on the outpost stops this pristine site from being 5 star.

The Newcastle Memorial Walk in New South Wales is a breathtaking tribute to Australian soldiers. This coastal walk not only offers stunning views but also a moving experience, honoring those who served. A must-visit for history and nature enthusiasts.

Visited there on a bright sunny day. Awesome sea view - full of mist, cold breeze.

  • 5/5 Sachith W. 3 years ago on Google
The walk is super nice, and takes about 30 minutes (to go and come back). Enjoyed the view, and the details about war which were displayed on the walk. I saw people cliff-gliding (think that's what it's called), so you could check the options out for that around the NC Memorial Walk.
