Sendagaya International Clinic

Medical clinic

👍👍 We were in Japan for 3 weeks in winter, my Fiance was horribly sick with a fever we couldn't break. We found Sendagaya Clinic online and made a booking with their online system. Took a cost effective taxi (great central location), and waited for about 5 minutes before were taken in to see the doctor... People often mention clinic, doctor, English, staff, appointment, time, medical, insurance, Sendagaya, care,

PEACE OF MIND Came here after a visit to a different doctor. The doctor at a different hospital was very rushed, and didn’t listen to me explaining my symptoms fully. Felt like they just wanted my money and didn’t really care about diagnosing me carefully. ON THE OTHER HAND, the staff at Sendagaya IC really show that they CARE about their patients. For starters, the reception staff were very empathetic and wonderful. I came in without an appointment and was warned about a long wait (I was very happy to wait). What really impressed me was that they would regularly come to check up on me (and others without an appointment) in the waiting room, apologising for the long wait and making sure everyone was okay. PLUS: free wifi in the waiting room!! (Also, the ladies at reception both had really calming voices) I like how they make you write down all your symptoms. If you make an appointment, you do so by filling this form on your own device. Those with no appointment get given an ipad from reception. The doctor then gets given a copy and THOROUGHLY goes through every symptom. This is what I liked most about this clinic. They didn’t skip or disregard a single symptom. You can tell they want to make sure they diagnose you correctly. Like people often do, I had googled my symptoms and suspected a lung infection. The first doctor I visited didn’t really listen to me and told me I have a common cold and asthma; whereas the doctor at Sendagaya took my concerns very seriously and thouroughly checked EVERYTHING. They even did a blood test to be extra sure. And boom, as I suspected, I had the infection google had told me I had. And no, I didn’t have asthma. I had medicine I was taking from the initial doctor. They (the onitial hospital) didn’t speak much English so they couldn’t really explain what they were for. When I asked the clinic, they very kindly gathered information and PRINTED OUT the detailed information about each one and what they do. The doctor even went through the printed sheets and summarised it for me in pen, recommending which ones to keep taking and which ones to stop. I also take other medicine for other reasons and they even helped me research if the medicine they were about to prescribe me would interact with those negatively. The swollen lump in my throat that was the main cause for my discomfort disappeared within 2 hours of me taking my first dosage of the medicine they gave me. I paid about 24,000 yen; which was quite a bit pricier than the initial hospital I went to. But I definitely think it’s worth it. I highly, HIGHLY recommend visiting this clinic, especially if you’re from overseas and travelling and Japan and happen to feel unwell; especially cause they all speak PERFECT ENGLISH. They do everything they possibly can to give you a peace of mind.

We were in Japan for 3 weeks in winter, my Fiance was horribly sick with a fever we couldn't break. We found Sendagaya Clinic online and made a booking with their online system. Took a cost effective taxi (great central location), and waited for about 5 minutes before were taken in to see the doctor. Within 10 minutes he had his bacterial infection test, was told it was dangerously high (was provided the receipt from the machine also), they had him on an antibiotics drip within 20 minutes, finished that in 15. Was diagnosed with Type A influenza and streppcoccle. Provided 10 days worth of medication and a new medication designed to fight influenza (only available in USA and Japan). Was told to.come back in morning for another check, we did, still high but lower, was given another antibiotics drip, but within the 24 hours his fever broke, aches and pains were gone. All staff spoke English and were so comforting and supportive, the nurses were amazing. We are so thankful we chose this place to go to.. Fiance is doing well!

(Translated by Google) English service staff and doctors, very careful, very comprehensive, very good. The clinic is very clean and there are more people in Europe and America. It is also close to the subway station. Looking forward to the next trip. (Original) 英文的服务人员和医生, 非常仔细, 非常全面, 很好。诊所很干净, 去的欧美人比较多。距离地铁站也很近。期待下一次的旅行。

Pros: Responsive over email, clinic looked relatively clean, minimal delay, were able to get appointment on short notice Cons: I emailed the clinic beforehand about the condition I wished to have examined, and they told me to come in. However, once there, the doctor told me that he couldn't help me with my symptoms and recommended me to a referral. Overall I paid 10k+ yen for less than 5 minutes of time. The more aggravating thing however, is that after explicitly asking for a referral that could provide care to English speakers, the doctor referred to a hospital (JR Tokyo) where the reception staff doesn't speak English at all! I then reached out again, they said they'd contact out to JR and email me, but then got only radio silence. Called a third time, and they basically told me my condition wasn't that bad (after repeatedly telling them that I was still feeling pain after a month), and then wanted me to come back to the office for a new referral to another hospital. I finally just went to another clinic that accepted me without a referral vs dealing with Sendagaya further. I think it would have been totally acceptable to not see me at all, but having me come in, wait, pay 10,000+ yen, only to give me a 5 minute consultation and then totally ignore me felt borderline dishonest.

Great doctor. Very nice. Got injured on my vacation and the doc was recommended by my hotel staff. Saw me right away, no wait. Got me treated with an IV, then prescribed me enough needs for the whole trip. Office was clean. Staff all spoke great English, and that amazing Japanese service you'd expect here.

Similar to another review here, I emailed and made an appointment with no issue, but as soon as I arrived I was told they didn't deal with my issue at this clinic (even though I described the issue in detail when booking), and I was charged a roughly 1500JPY fee for a "referral" to another clinic that I didn't need. The doctor spent all of 30 seconds with me and didn't even look at my issue. Felt very uncomfortable and pressured.

Had one of the worst experiences of my life...i came there with sever pain in my kidneys. I don’t know his name but I was consulted by an old Japanese doctor and he didn’t only not take me seriously at all, made comments on my language capabilities, looked down on me, but didn’t see the need to send my sample to the laboratory to check for a kidney infection....well turns out I had a kidney infection which I found out going to another hospital....dont go there! There are plenty other great hospitals with no English speaking doctors who are willing to help you!! One good note the female staff were super nice.

Very efficient and quick. Booked at 2pm and was able to get a booking for 5pm on the same day. Even though I was early to my appointment, it was a short wait and they were able to see me straight away. The Doctor was polite and diagnosed me straight away. There was no struggle in communication and I left within 20 minutes with my medicine in hand. It was a costly visit (roughly 29000 yen) as I am a foreign visitor on a short holiday. But for the convenience and the service I would feel safe seeing them again if I needed them.

All English speaking staff! On a trip to Japan for two weeks and got a mild bacterial infection. Made appointment online and they saw me as soon as I got there. They were extremely quick and helpful. First of all I highly recommend getting travel insurance if you go to Japan but if you do get sick then come here. Truly a wonderful experience all thanks to the amazing staff. Would recommend to friends and loved ones.

This is one of the first reviews I have ever written. The staff are super friendly and can speak English, which makes it very easy for foreigners to get their medical needs. I have a few medications I needed while living in Japan. The staff took the time to fully answer out the procedures for these medications as well as the prices, providing full clarity. When I arrived, I was greeted and treated within fifteen minutes. They then proceeded to help me with any further questions and answered how to proceed at the nearest pharmacy. All in all, if you are a foreigner who needs to visit a medical clinic in Japan, Sendagaya is definitely the place to go, no stressing at all.

(Translated by Google) My 9 month old daughter had gastroenteritis and went to the hospital. We usually need to make a reservation, but we asked us in advance to make a reservation at the right time. In order to check for the presence of bacteria, I hurt my fingers a little, but there was almost no pain, and I was saved because I was not feeling well. The explanation of the risks to the course is also solid and the reliability is high. If you are a phoenix, you will have to wait a long time and you will be given a lot of medicine. My daughter is immunized here, but it is a clinic that uses a finer needle than usual and cares so that traces of hanko injection are less likely to remain.

After injuring myself during my trip, I wanted to get checked out just in case. I searched for international clinics in the area and found Sendagaya International Clinic. The online booking process was easy and upon arrival the staff was friendly and professional. The doctor on duty and the staff communicated well in English and I was able to get medication and tests easily. They have an in-house pharmacy as well! I received my documentation for insurance within a week via email in English. Recommended if you are traveling in the Tokyo area or need an English speaking clinic!

I became unwell during a holiday to Tokyo, and I wasn’t sure how to get medical assistance and treatment as a foreigner. My hotel referred me to Sendagaya clinic, and I was so grateful to have found such a helpful, professional, caring and excellent team of doctors and nurses. They promptly diagnosed me, and gave me relevant treatments that were effective and quick. Thanks to this clinic, I was back on my feet enjoying my holiday within 24 hours. The staff speak English, and they are empathetic and attentive to tourists or foreigners who may not know how to get medical care in Japan. They were able to administer treatment via IV drip, take quick tests, and prescribe medication. I would travel to Tokyo with confidence in the future knowing I can get such excellent care at this clinic should I require it.

Friendly staff BUT don't expect the doctors to be the same. I came for a suspected bladder infection that has been dragging for months despite going to the doctor within the first days& taking antibiotics. Didn't rush to see a doctor afterwards because, well let's be honest, they are really bad here and just don't care about their patients ? But anyways, here I am at the clinic, hoping for some help, so naive of me. The doctor just told me there's nothing he could do but to tell me to go see a specialist. And THAT WAS IT. I asked if it was a cystitis as I suspected. The doctor's answer : "I don't know." I asked which hospital/specialist I should see : "I don't know". Well. If this was a remake of "You know nothing John snow" that would have been perfect but I can't believe a doctor to be this incompetent. I mean why are you here ?? No urine test (despite taking a sample. Some weird fetish idk?), a reluctantly written recommendation letter to a specialist (I had to insist because since I didn't know which specialist I wanted to see, my bad for not knowing HIS COLLEAGUES !!, he seemed deeply annoyed to write it), and 0 empathy. Oh and this was a 5 minute consultation which, if it would have been completely up to the "doctor' would have been wrapped up in 3. Moral of the story : I still have no idea of what I have exactly (beside a few hundred yens less), where I should go to find some help and google has answered more of my questions so far than this so called doctor. So please go somewhere else.

I’ve been here 5 or so times for various reasons however always ALWAYS you will have to wait past your appointment time. I have never once had the doctor see me ON TIME. It’s becoming very frustrating as I usually will come early at least 10 minutes to try to see if I can be seen on time however it’s never happened. Expect to wait. Service has been okay otherwise. Nothing amazing but I get what I need for the most part. Took a blood test here and the nurse was awful at it, I’ve never had a huge bruise for 3 weeks from a blood test. I do not think they are trained enough for it

This clinic says they accept JHI (The Japanese national health insurance). However, it seems to be by their own rules. And it's not how other clinics responded to me after joining the JHI. All other clinics paid back 70% of all fees for the past 2 years. This clinic only for a quick test, and after at first refusing flat out providing non-sensical reasoning and wasting a lot of my time. I'm under the impression they'll make it as hard as possible for you to claim, hoping that you'd just give up. The last visit there, I remember waiting long then saw the doctor for less than 10 minutes for what I believed to be a sinus infection. The diagnoses (ultra-fast and impersonal) and medication were ineffectual. 2 stars because at least I got a good referal from them once. And i have to admit, some staff are friendly and speak English well.

This place is a godsend and I got the most amazing care here. I was dealing with some terrible stomach issues and a bad fever, and had been given probiotics and Tylenol by a different hospital and told it was just food poisoning. After a few days of no improvement, I decided to try Sendaga and I’m so happy I did. Instantly they took care of me, got me an IV, ran some tests, and got me on antibiotics. Thank you for saving my trip to Japan!

Unprofessional and incompetent. The doctor there is rude and lazy. He just does the minimum so he can go on to the next patient. I found a better doctor but went back there when I needed a quick refill on my meds and didn’t have time to see my good doctor. That was a mistake on my part. Second to last time I was there the receptionist gave me someone else’s insurance card. Luckily I looked at the name before I put it in my wallet. The last time I was there I heard the receptionist say my name as she gave the woman across from me MY insurance card. Again, I was lucky the woman looked at the card and said it wasn’t hers and that I heard the receptionist say my name. Don’t go there if you 1) want to be seen by a competent, professional, and polite doctor. 2) want to leave with your insurance card

I got sick while on vacation in Tokyo and I went here on a Saturday morning after suffering from a fever and severe pain under my left rib for 48 hours. They admitted me at 8:30am before the clinic even opened at 9:00am and immediately did blood work, urine sample and a CT scan. I was diagnosed with a kidney infection and kidney stones and was sent home with pain medication, antibiotics, and an anti-inflammatory. It was 70000 yen but the service was so fast, efficient and the staff are incredibly friendly. I am so grateful that I found this clinic.

During a family trip to Tokyo in June I hurt my back and was in a great deal of pain. The hotel recommended the Sendagaya International Clinic. I went without an appointment and was promptly seen within 15 minutes. I do not speak Japanese but that was not an issue as everyone on staff spoke very adequate English. I was treated by Dr. Shinozuka. He was very kind, professional, knowledgeable, and provided excellent care. After the initial evaluation he clearly explained my options. He let me know that he could start me on a pain management protocol to alleviate the pain but that to give me a proper and accurate diagnosis I would need to have an MRI done to see internally what was going on with my back. He explained that I could wait a few days to see if the pain subsided or wait to have it done once I got back home. Luckily I had purchased travel insurance prior to my trip and the emergency medical treatment would be covered. The clinic arranged and scheduled the MRI for that very same day at a facility near my hotel. They gave me an IV with medication for the pain and various prescriptions. Dr. Shinozuka sat with me and explained what each medication was and also gave me a form with written information for each medicine and instructions. It was a really great feeling to have received such great care while I was in so much pain and the level of attention made all of the difference for me. Truly excellent from beginning to end. After I had the MRI done Dr. Shinozuka promptly sent me via e-mail the results as well as his final diagnosis and instructions for follow up care once I was back home in the United States. Within 2 weeks I received an e-mail from the clinic with all of the medical records and detailed claim information for me to send to my travel insurance provider for reimbursement since I paid out of pocket for the services rendered. The documentation was so thorough and complete that the travel insurance company did not even ask for any additional information and processed my payment after they completed their review for medical necessity. Every aspect of my interaction with Dr. Shinozuka and all of the staff members at the clinic was fantastic. I highly recommend the doctor and Sendagaya International Clinic to anyone staying in Tokyo that is in need of medical care.

Idk if the doctor knew what he was doing. I don’t think he knew what was wrong with me until I told him what I found on the internet, then he looked it up on the internet, then he prescribed me some meds, which I did not take cuz I had no faith in his diagnosis. Ppl were nice tho

Like previous post, this is my first review...Such amazing place. We were in and out in 1hr. Had a skin rash and was spreading so we stopped by to see what they could do. Extremely welcoming, clean, great bedside manner. The nurse and doctor both spoke great English. Explained everything in great detail and left us feeling confident the medication given would assist in the rash going away. If you have any medical issues, while traveling, in Tokyo, I highly recommend this clinic. On top of it all, we didn’t have any medical travel insurance, but it was bee reasonably priced. Peace of mind!

This clinic saved my trip. I ended up having some extreme pain on my second day in Tokyo that the clinic was able to diagnose and give me a treatment plan for. They scheduled a diagnostic imaging appointment for me and walked me through everything I needed. I felt like I was in very capable hands and everyone at the clinic was very friendly and there was no issue communicating. If you're a native English speaker in Tokyo here for whatever reason and end up needing medical assistance then the Sendagaya clinic is definitely the right choice! Thanks again to everyone at the clinic who saved my trip. I'm already feeling a lot better and it's all thanks to you and your excellent care! ありがとうございます!

Welcoming and efficient clinic. Making an appointment online was a breeze. I emailed them after closing hours the evening before and they replied promptly and provided directions to the clinic. It was easy to find and we got there by taxi. Staff spoke good English and doctor and assistants were courteous and helpful. We got in to see the doctor almost immediately, we didn’t have to wait long. Doctor answered all our questions thoroughly and patiently. This is a great help especially for tourists like us who suddenly take ill whilst in a non English speaking country. The clinic has small testing units and could immediately provide the results of the tests such as for influenza and strep A. They’re also well connected to the major hospitals so there’s great value for overseas visitors. Certainly recommend this clinic to anyone needing English speaking medical treatment.

Needing to see a doctor as a tourist in a foreign country with no language is a daunting prospect, all while already in discomfort. This clinic made it easy and seamless. Booked an appointment online for the same day, was seen by the doctor quickly, given advice and prescription. They didn't have the pills I needed in their adjacent clinic, so one of the staff went out and brought me the prescription from another pharmacy! I was done within an hour, medicine in hand, insurance claim documents to be delivered to my email in the next few days. Can't thank them enough.

This clinic is exceptional! We were traveling in Japan when my husband got sick unexpectedly. We thought that navigating the healthcare system in a country where we don't speak the language would be very stressful, but this clinic made it incredibly easy. Everyone speaks English very well. I recommend this clinic without any reservation whatsoever. I fell sick during my last visit to Japan because of stomach flu. The doctor was so kind, caring and efficient. After a quick diagnosis thru blood work, the results were available in 5 minutes. I was put on IV & antibiotics. This procedure took over an hour during which the nurse checked up on me several times - such a caring team! I am very impressed with my first impression of the Japanese medicL system. I recommend you rather don’t pay a visit to here. You always wait 10 - 20 Minutes past your appointment time. Additionally everybody is running around stressed and their english skills are not on point as they should be when advertising as „International Clinic“. High prices as well. They charge 2800Yen to issue a english translation of the bill. It should be a matter of course that in an so called international clinic the translation of bills comes at no additional costs.

My go-to family practice in Tokyo. I have been there several times for various reasons and was always treated well. Staff are friendly and everyone speaks English. They also take Japanese National Health insurance which is great.

Very professional clinic. The place is very clean and all the staff very friendly and speak English fluently. When we arrive, they gave us an ipad to fill all the symptoms of the illness, so that when the consultation time, the doctor already knew all the conditions of the patient. They have a painless blood test machine and the result come out less than 1 hour. My son was treated by a senior doctor, Dr. Tadashi Shinozuka. He's very patient and gentle when diagnosing my son. When I texted him on midnight to ask about my son's condition, he immediately replied. Thanks to him our son was able to recover from the fever in only just one day and we can continue our vacation with ease.

A great clinic, the staff all spoke English very well and was very nice. My gf and I came without an appointment and she was admitted within about 20 minutes. My gf had a blood test and a throat swab culture right after we saw the doctor. She recieved an IV, antibiotics and pain killers right away. The whole thing cost us about 33,000 jpy and took about an hour (including the wait).

The staff is very friendly and it's possible to get quick appointments, but the doctor is rude and has lots of "bad days" with questionable diagnostic skills. Came here a couple of times because it's difficult to find an English speaking doctor, who takes bacterial & influenza tests quickly, but I really don't trust the doctor's judgement. Last time I had a persistent wet cough from a bacterial infection, he tried to convince me it would be only an allergic reaction. Even though the database definition he pulled up was clearly stating "dry" cough (and I politely pointed that out), he refused to listen. He also stated that my long-term medicine cannot be taken on the WHO recommended dose, just because his Japanese database states a lower dose. He therefore only prescribed the lower dose and refused to take a look at the WHO document.

If you are an Australian or another international and traveling to Tokyo and take sick or have an injury, please go straight to this Clinic. My husband fell ill on our recent holiday in Japan and the wonderful staff member at MyStay Premier Hotel Akasaka sent us direct to this clinic. Their consideration, compassion and professionalism was faultless. Four English speaking doctors, two of which assisted my husband. If only we had the same service here in Australia. Thank You all at Sendagaya International Clinic. L. O'Gorman / Melbourne Australia

This is the right place to go if you are trying to get a covid test on day 3 to end quarantine, or are flying out soon. I made an appointment the day before. When i got there at my scheduled time the whole process took about 30 to 45 min, the test was done in 15 min, they have you wait while the machine processes your results so you WILL know before you leave. I was able to select this company in the MYSOS app and upload everything while in the office. I got a message about an hour later saying "your quarentine will end tomorrow". Im from the US so i was a little nervous about where to go, i couldnt imagine it going any faster, hope this helps someone.

Nice experience with this small clinic. Convenient location which is close to the station. Doctors and staffs are so helpful and everyone can speak English. Accept Japanese health insurance. Appointment booking is easy as they are so responsive to email and phone calls. Highly recommended, especially for foreigners Cons: Highly expensive if you don't have insurance

(Translated by Google) The display on the website and the actual medical treatment date are different. For the first time in the reservation reply email, I was informed that "Currently, medical treatment days are only Tuesday afternoon, Friday, and Saturday." I have already bought a ticket for the full mist, so I will go to the hospital this time, but I can't trust such a sloppy hospital, so I will go to another place next time.

Not safe to go to during Covid. Extremely over crowded and they have overbooked people. Took them 20 minutes to find my appointment whilst people with close contact were getting Covid tests done right there. Eventually I told them I’m leaving and they asked if I had gotten an appointment confirmation, whereas when I called them they booked me in and never mentioned they need to yet confirm my booking.

Went here to get my Covid test to end my quarantine period after 3 days. Since my phone number couldn’t call them, I had to email them in English to set up an appointment. Responded very quickly and we’re super helpful. When I got there they took my test and gave me the certificate 15 minutes later. Would highly recommend.

I fell and sprained my ankle while on vacation and found Sendagaya on google. They were so, so helpful. The doctors spoke English well; they were clear, kind, and efficient. I paid out of pocket but they promptly sent me all the information to get refunded from my travel insurance. This clinic was a lifesaver!

I was a walk in patient suffering from a descending kidney stone. I was seen by a doctor within 10 minutes of arrival. The doctor completely understood my condition and provided me with the advice appropriate medication. I received full documentation for my travel insurance claim within 24 hours via email. I could not recommend Sendagaya Clinic more highly.

So you got a sore throat during your travels in Japan and don’t know what to do. Do you go to the ER? What about the price? What about the language barrier? I would suggest going here if you are an out of country traveler with symptoms such as a sore throat and you don’t have traveling insurance. Its very close to the transit station so getting here is no problem. Check the days they are open, they can be sporadic. Make an appointment as early as possible on the website to ensure a quick in and out. We decided to pay out of pocket and clicked “No” on the insurance claim document question when filling out the appointment. Everyone was English speaking, we were provided antibiotics and some simple pain medications for the rest of our stay in Japan. Within a day I was feeling better. They performed a COVID, Strep, Flu, and blood tests. They charged a base rate of 28,000 Yen to be seen and our final bill was 58,000 Yen for all the tests and medications for 10 days.

😠 Do not recommend to any foreigners unless you’re fluent Japanese speaker. I had to wait for an hour half for my payment but never called my name so I had to ask for it. Also, they don’t limit the number of the people in waiting room so place is basically “packed” 24/7, they don’t even care about k...

😠 I made a reservation online because I was in excruciating pain, and despite arriving 5 to 10 minutes before my appointed time, I had to wait for almost 45 minutes.
