Visited here for Sunday afternoon meal. On walking into the entrance it feels quite compact and I’m sad to say there was an overpowering smell which smelt like fish and if we had not made a booking we would have left due to this smell. The staff were very friendly and relaxed which made it enjoyable. The menu is varied and the food is reasonably priced. Food well presented and tasted really nice. Drinks we felt were overpriced if you like to have a few drinks over lunch this will make this an expensive experience. Having now been to the Ivy we don’t think it is a place that would be first on our list to revisit.

I can't believe I haven't visited sooner.. did not expect The Ivy to do such beautiful vegan options! Lovely place to eat, great service and cool pink toilets! I would recommend the vegan Asian salad and the zucchini fritters. They were both sooo good! Would also recommend the flavoured tequila on the rocks! Loved the amount of vegan options on the menu!

Came across The Ivy by accident while looking for a breakfast place in York City centre. We were greeted by a friendly member of staff who found us a table straightaway. I went for the pancakes while my husband chose the eggs benedict. We were served by a lovely waitress who was extremely attentive and chatted with us about our plans for the day which was great. The pancakes were a delight- light, fluffy with fresh cream and berries and the Berry compote alongside was beautifully tart. My husband said the eggs benedict was delicious too. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful and would be a fabulous place for cocktails or a celebration dinner. A real treat.

I came here for the afternoon tea and it was fantastic! The service was fast and friendly and our server offered advice on vegan friendly options. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The attention to detail is unmatched - even the restroom was elaborately decorated

English food is a huge compliment here. The rabbit stew was so good and the sticky toffee pudding was a great way to end off. Loud but crowded. The noise took away from the ambiance. Come with a reservation, for sure. Our waitress was polite but we had many people serving us and checking on us throughout. We will come back.

Excellent meal and great choice for vegetarians. The food is so full of flavours and we tried a few cocktails also. We were served by Nora who was so friendly. Recommend the cheese soufflé and the apple tart fine, delicious 😋

Bank Holiday Monday - 18th April 2022 The Ivy has been on our list of restaurants to visit in Yorkshire for a while. With venues in Leeds, Harrogate & York. We booked the York venue online before. You can walk in however you may have to wait and be disappointed if you can’t get a table. The venue is very stylish and classy. The layout and decor is very spacious and nice. Our host led us to our table and in a short time we had the menus and we’re ordering our drinks & meals. The service was first class, the presentation of the food was what you’d expect of a brand like the Ivy. This was mid morning so most people were having breakfast in smart/casual attire. Maybe lunch & dinner you’d dress up more slightly. The food great, the best breakfast I’ve had. 10/10. Your not going to get a Mitchellin star for a full English, but it was excellent and very filling. I couldn’t fault one thing today and it was a lovely dining experience in a great setting & location - highly recommended

Booked the Ivy for our anniversary tea. All staff were great, extremely courteous and pleasant. Food was amazing, even almonds and sour dough loaf for the table were tasty. My wife chose the Shepard’s pie which I’m happy to report joined the clean plate club. I went with the burger, which was good but kind of regretted not getting the steak as originally planned. Also the chocolate bomb desert was delicious. Melted chocolate with salted caramel and vanilla ice cream. Our waiter brought us cream eclair as an extra desert as they knew it was our anniversary; such an appreciated gesture. A great experience and would love to visit again.

Doctors food, beautiful decor and atmosphere, and the service was impeccable. We were celebrating our anniversary and they even gave us a free celebratory pudding! Loved the whole experience.

We went as a party of four for my daughters 21st, the food was beautiful and well presented and our waiter (Sam Thorp) was very friendly and attentive and really made the evening special. We were well looked after and they made a fuss of my daughter on her 21st, which was lovely. We will definitely be back, I can't wait!

Wow, factor for myself, other tea rooms! Not in the same equation, just excellent from entering the door, cloak room service, to the table, a light breakfast exquisitely presented, top class service... thoroughly enjoyed. A must for your wish list Enjoy 😘

We had such a lovely afternoon last weekend having afternoon tea! We were warmly welcomed and then taken to the bar, as our table wasn’t ready. However it wasn’t long before we were lead to our table. It was at the back of the restaurant and we had a good view of the rest of the area! We gave our order and the food came fairly quickly! The arrival of the food was enchanting as there were smoke covering it! We were then given an explanation of each tier! The food was delicious and fresh and really enjoyed the moment! We were also given complimentary refills of hot drinks! All in all, a really lovely experience!

We were recently married and were staying outside York so couldn't drink alcohol. We had 2 hot chocolates and 2 non alcoholic cocktails. They said it is all on the house when we were going to pay Lovely really made our night!!!

Fantastic all round. Great atmosphere, the service went above and beyond and the food divine. Would highly recommended and would visit again. The price wasn't any dearer than some of the chains of brewers in our home town of Milton Keynes.

My partner and I came here to celebrate his birthday tonight. The staff were lovely, welcoming and very accommodating. I got up and discreetly explained it was my partners birthday to a waitor and he organised a desert with a candle & happy birthday chocolate sign. After we'd finished deserts, our waitress (Ella) brought a beautiful profiterole out with a candle in and a chocolate happy birthday sign on it. They pulled out all of the stops & the food was absolutely delicious! Best fish and chips we've had, ever! The chocolate bomb was to die for. It was quite sickly with the toffee sauce, but I have a sweet tooth so it suited me. We would 100% visit again. Despite the restaurant being so busy, Ella was attentive to us and worked amazingly hard. Ella was polite, warm, welcoming and is a real asset to the company. What I didn't particularly like was that a service charge got added on to the bill automatically. I asked Ella to take the service charge off as she would only receive a tiny amount as a tip as it has to get split between all of the staff. We then tipped her cash, which 100% of went to her. I think it's naughty really because a lot of people won't realise that they're not tipping the waitress/waiter directly and just pay the service charge.

Visited for lunch and found it to be a very busy energetic restaurant. Was virtually full on arrival. Service is superb, quick and efficient. Food is very good but has some big competition in York, so lots of nearby restaurants serving equal and better food. Decor is nice inside, and atmosphere vibrant. We enjoyed it overall but a bit on the expensive side for some dishes. The cheese soufflé was gorgeous!

Fantastic meal for my 50th birthday. Staff were amazing and couldn't do enough. Really enjoyed our fish pie & cottage pie mains. The apple tart for dessert was amazing. Thank you for the special birthday dessert. Well worth a visit if you're in York.

We did enjoy the food very much however didn't think it was something amazing. However the service was perfect!. Shame we didn't had a parasol in our table as it was a very Hot and Sunny day so a bit of shadow would be better. We have been advised that inside is only at the bar or meals. We asked for drinks only and brunch therefore we could not go inside. A bit disappointed with that

One of the best restaurant in york. Kids love their food which is one of the important thing for me. The food is amazing for the adults as well.

Great tasting food. Nice decor. Was told no availability but booked on bookatable and got a table immediately. This was our second visit, having previously had brunch. Would go again.

Never been to the Ivy anywhere before, was very impressed. We had a room for a reunion booking of 24 people, and the care that was taken to ensure we received the best dietary food was amazing, so professional yet friendly. Food SO enjoyable. Decor and ambience fantastic. Highly recommend!! Five stars!!

Lovely lunch here. I really wanted to have lunch outside in the square as there was a great busker, and it was such a nice day. When we arrived, the outside tables were taken, so we waited at the bar for an outside table, which the FOH staff arranged as promptly as possible. Really good service throughout. I'd never normally opt for a burger at the Ivy, but it was just what I wanted that day, and it was great. My partner had the steak tartare, which I'd had previously, and was very happy. Lovely interior as ever. I think the prices here are very reasonable considering the quality of service and surroundings.

had the loveliest birthday breakfast here today, the service was incredible and they even gifted me a dessert with a candle, made me feel so special, but just the service alone would have been enough, because it was so good. We were served by Johnny, really nice guy! Will definitely be back and highly recommend as all items were high quality, delicious and presented beautifully.

This is probably the best dining experience I have ever had. If you want a 5 star treatment and food that would make your taste buds go crazy happy, this is the place to be. I have never experienced such 1st class treatment from staff anywhere else, and the steak is next to none. I would recommend this place to anyone and I will surely come back and try out everything on the menu.

I have always wanted to go to an Ivy restaurant. The venue was delightful and the staff all excellent. We enjoyed our meals my husband had the steak which he said was excellent. They also gave us a little pudding treat for our wedding anniversary. We will definitely recommend and return when possible.
