Fantastic from start to finish, we were served with 2 glasses of Prosecco ‘on the house’ as it’s our anniversary. The service was fantastic as was our meal, we had the 3 course set menu highly recommended, with our puddings arrived a lovely touch of a chocolate brownie to share and best wishes from the staff for our anniversary, great place, great food, great atmosphere it never fails to impress. Thank you so much for making our day a special one.

Visited October 2023: beautiful outside walkway to get into the building and the inside is pretty too. There is a ramp so wheelchair accessible which I appreciate. We were a party of three and two of us ordered a roast. The food arrived quickly however one of us ordered beef and one ordered pork and two pork arrived: Us “Excuse me, I ordered beef.” Waitress “That’s pork.” Us “Yes but I ordered beef, I didn’t order pork.” Waitress “Right. Well it was pork.” Us “No it wasn’t. We ordered one pork one beef.” She goes to get a beef, while we wait with our food getting cold as we didn’t want to eat without our third member having their food! She then bring the beef back and again said “I had pork,” we didn’t continue to argue with her- it was her mistake but she continued to act as though we were in the wrong for requesting the correct food. No condiments were offered so we had to wait while they got those. The food was okay but it was marred by having to wait for the correct orders- the place wasn’t busy, we were dining when they first opened. When the bill came, they had added a service charge which annoys me because this isn't America, staff are paid well. Increase your prices if you’re not getting enough profit. It was particularly irritating considering she got the order wrong and then argued about it. When we went to pay there was no option to remove the service charge so I had to ask- it’s embarrassing to ask for it to be removed but she did once I asked.

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant for our 20th wedding anniversary. They made our meal extra special. A lovely restaurant with open roof dining during hot weather. A lovely steak meal and a very tasty crème brûlée.

Absolutely stunning food and place. I requested a boots seat/better table on my reservation as it was a special occasion and the staff made this happen. The food is stunning, and the wine list is fantastic. I would happily recommend Ate O'Clock to anybody who is in York looking for a good place to eat with a great atmosphere.

Extra Surprise In the Chicken Burger! (Not good) We came as a walk in and got seated with an hour and a half window, which was perfect for us. We ordered a lovely bottle of Riesling which came very well chilled. For starters, the fried calamari and black pudding scotch egg. The calamari was so tender and crisp, perfectly cooked. The scotch egg was again very crisp on the outside and we’ll seasoned with gooey centered egg in the middle. For mains we ordered the spiced duck breast and ate o’clock crispy chicken burger. Unfortunately the sauce with the duck was room temp, the duck was warm and same with the veg. The potato hash hidden under the veg was hot, and in fact, the best part of the dish! Very tasty. Now comes to the surprise, the chicken burger had a HAIR in it. When pointed out to the waiter/I assume front of house manager, he tried to say it was my other halves hair, again and again. Even when we pointed out the hair is sandwiched inside the burger. We notified them straight away. They did bring us a new burger, which was piping hot and very good. Apart from the door stop ‘chips’ as you can see in the picture. Too much potato to crisp ratio. I wasn’t going to include the lone hair in my review. But seeing as only a £4.20 deduction was the best they could do to compensate, I changed my mind. Poor customer service

What a creative setting for dining! Loved the twilight entrance!! Had a fabulous meal starting humus, beetroot & pear risotto, followed by sticky toffee pudding. A shout out to our wonderful server - Emily who made the dining experience just perfect. :)

Very popular place to eat, make sure you book in advance. We visited on the Sunday, so, much quieter. Service was good. The cheeseburger was nice with a side of wedges, not big helpings but nice. Would definitely go back to try other dishes on menu.

Wonderful place for something to eat. We stopped and managed to get a table without booking. Food is a little pricey but wonderful. Got the 2 for deal...

The food, atmosphere & staff were all amazing. 9 of us went on a Friday lunch time & not a single one of us had a problem with the food. THE Place to eat in York. Crème Brûlée was out of this World! We will be back soon.

Amazing experience, the food is incredible. We had the steak and side deal for £15. They gave my girlfriend a birthday card when we got to our table, as requested a table out the crowd they provided. They also brought out a free dessert saying happy birthday. The staff and venue was incredible, I highly recommend. Service charge is optional but at 10 percent and the service provided I wouldn’t remove it as they earned it.

Cannot rate this place enough, incredible. It's such a beautiful restaurant serving high quality food for a really good price! They have the biggest Gluten Free menu I have ever seen of really tasty food! They have a set menu, normal menu, dessert, drinks and cocktails. I had the braised rump beef in red wine sauce for £17.50 pictured below, cannot recommend enough! I wish I had taken pictures of the interior because the atmosphere was lovely.

**Review: Ate O'clock, York** Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ate O'clock in the historic heart of York is truly a dining experience par excellence. From the moment we stepped in, it was evident that this establishment goes above and beyond to create moments that diners will cherish. Booking as walk-ins can sometimes be a hit or miss, but with Ate O'clock, it felt like they were genuinely awaiting our arrival. In a gesture that speaks volumes of their dedication to customer satisfaction, they reached out via phone, welcoming us in with open arms. Our celebration of our first anniversary was rendered even more special by the thoughtful touches they added. The complimentary prosecco sparkled not just in our glasses but also in our eyes, and the delectable chocolate, with the sweet anniversary message artfully inscribed in chocolate script, was the icing on the cake. Such gestures, while seemingly simple, resonate deeply and make an occasion unforgettable. Beyond these gestures, the overall ambiance exudes warmth and coziness. The staff are incredibly attentive, ensuring that every need is met with a smile. It's the kind of place where you instantly feel at ease, enveloped in an atmosphere of genuine hospitality. In conclusion, Ate O'clock is not just a dining venue; it's an experience. They masterfully blend exquisite culinary offerings with heartfelt gestures, making any occasion, whether it's an anniversary or a casual dinner, truly memorable. It's no exaggeration to say everything was beyond amazing. A deserving recipient of a five-star rating, I wholeheartedly recommend Ate O'clock for anyone looking to celebrate life's special moments in York.

Stunning entrance!! Lovely food, warm and very tasty sticky toffee pudding with lashings of toffee sauce, which was perfect. Was very quick turn around, all done and paid within 70 mins, which would have liked a little bit more time between. Asked on booking what special occasion it was, nothing mentioned, so unsure why they asked. Toilet area very squashed.

Pretty cool, a lot of options here to eat. Restrooms are awkwardly located. Service was friendly and the food was pretty good. Would recommend it to people who are in the neighborhood. Or anyone looking to try some pretty good food.

Amazing place. Stumbled across it, definitely topped our first decision of nandos! Lovely vibe, tasty food and great prices. Would 10/10 recommend to anyone visiting York. We all had the two course meal for £22 or £25, I think. Unbeatable prices and delicious food.

Beautiful venue, recommended by a friend! Amazing food! Had spiced duck breast, was cooked to perfection and passionfruit cheesecake which was just delicious, the most creamy I've had! Mimi our waitress was kind, polite, courteous and just all round great!

It has a lovely entrance in to the restaurant. The staff was friendly and helpful. I had a good time there. Had a mocktail, soup of the day followed by a medium 10oz rump steak and finished with a crème brûlée. All was really nice. By the time I left the restaurant was packed which shows how good it is. Might come back before my trip back home.
