This is probably one of better of 3* hotels I’ve stayed in. The hotel felt brand new, all the interesting decor, nuances and references to Leeds made it very enjoyable and gave it charm. The room was clean, comfortable and the shower was great. Check in was okay but had to wait as there was no one at the desk when I arrived. Breakfast was continental - which is okay for a little something to start the day off. Location is really good for the City Centre. There are local Japanese & Thai restaurants, with fast food outlets a mere 30 seconds away. Great for flying visits. Recommended

Ideal location for the 1st direct Arena. Our room was in a quiet location at the back of the hotel so we didn't get any street noise. Disappointed there was only one pillow per person no extra provided in the room as is usual for a hotel. The bed was really comfortable but the duvet was too small for the cover. The breakfast was included in our booking fee £74 for the night but was only cold continental buffet style but you could have toast.

We came to Leeds for a university viewing and decided to stay in this hotel as it seemed perfectly located for my mother and I to explore Leeds. The hotel room was clean and hygienic, the shower was perfectly functioning and provided a refreshing start/ end to the day. The staff were extremely helpful even advising us on where to go to make the most of our trip ! Very accommodating and allowed us to leave our bags after check out so we could further explore. They were also very helpful in calling local taxi companies to come pick us up. Everything a hotel should be !

Recently stayed here on business for a week, car parking was great next door (Make sure you ask reception to scan your ticket on the morning to get a discounted rate). Room 318 was mine for the week, very good spacious layout with a very comfy bed. Bar and food were also very good, if you want to eat out plenty around the hotel for all taste buds. Will 100% stay here again.

Thank you, Ibis! I experienced the worst service ever as I had to drag my 20kg luggage around the city center for 5-6 hours because they refused to let me store it! I believe I deserve an apology and compensation for the inconvenience. Here's the detailed story: On December 15, around 11:00 A.M., when I was ready to check out, I wanted to leave our luggage at the reception since our coach was at 16:30. The male receptionist, wearing a black top and with a beard (I don't know his name), refused to let me store my 27-inch luggage, claiming the storage room was full. I suggested placing it under the reception desk, but he expressed concerns about someone taking it. I asked if he knew of any nearby lockers, to which he replied that he didn't know. I was a bit unhappy and tried to argue with him. Because my luggage is too big then you refused me? How ridiculous is it? He insisted that I couldn't store my luggage because of its size. He showed me the storage room. Although I suggested placing my luggage behind the storage door where there was space. He still declined and said that it’s difficult to open the door and the risk of injury. I said “I've already paid for my stay, and the hotel offers luggage storage services. Why am I unable to use them?” He said that I didn’t pay extra money for the storage service. I was confused and asked, “So, do I need to pay for the service?” Then he responded, “Luggage storage services are free of charge.” My expression: ??????? How logical is that? 🤔🤔 This experience and the reasons provided are unreasonable and ridiculous: 1. The male receptionist was unhelpful and appeared unwilling to arrange the storage room. It seemed like he was just being lazy and didn't want me to put my 27-inch suitcase there! 2. Technically, two carry-on suitcases are as large as one 27-inch luggage, so it's unfair why others could store theirs but I couldn't. This is the first time that I give one star! Well done🙃

Comfortable room, although had to keep asking for the right number of towels. Could have done without the fire alarm at 0430 on our first night too tbh. Breakfast wasn’t great, plenty of selection but no real hot offering. Things frequently ran out and took ages to be refilled. Coffee was terrible. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, make sure to get your car pro ticket validated as it reduces the cost significantly.

Our second stay here and it’s proved consistent in quality and service. Rooms are modern, spacious with excellent shower and a quality mattress. Tea & coffee facilities are basic but there are free hot drinks available by reception. The staff are helpful and friendly and the inclusive breakfast, although continental, is excellent. There’s a car park discount (we paid £10 for 48 hours) and as the hotel is so central, walking is the best way to see Leeds. Highly recommended

Great location for my needs I have stayed there before. Lots of nearby restaurants. Great nearby parking with a discount. Clean and tidy rooms, but can be on the small side. Poor heating system especially in the winter months and is locked. The bed was most uncomfortable felt like a thin piece of foam over wooden planks, a thin duvet and not enough pillows.

Picked this hotel because it looked nice and had breakfast included. The room was clean, big and had everything we needed. Location was good near shops and car park. Only downside was breakfast was cold options so pastries, ceral and fruit. We had some but ended up getting a hot breakfast elsewhere. Would definitely return.

Great for the Arena however hardly any staff around to manage the bar and no-one around for the buffet breakfast. A Coffee machine that had a sign 'help yourself' wasnt working and one poor girl doing a very busy bar after the Arena event! On the plus side the room was lovely and quiet and comfy bed.

Well priced, lovely hotel near the music venues. The staff were lovely and the rooms were nice (albeit some strange choice of yorkshire decor). Only issue is the restricted AC turning off in the night and ruining my night of cold sleep.

From what I saw when going up to my friends room who was staying, it was clean, tidy, disabled friendly and smelt fresh. The complementary drinks and cheap snacks really was a nice touch in the lobby area and was kept well stocked. I will definitely be recommending this place to stay to friends and family who come to visit in Leeds who can’t stay at mine due to mobility issues and stairs.

--Room-- It was comfortable and had nice touches in the room. To make you feel welcome. Looked the fact it was also Yorkshire tea as well 🙂 --Staff-- Really welcoming and the night staff member andrew was helpful. Was helpful with regards being able to find sitting outside and understanding guests requests. --Bar-- I would say some of the cocktails were a hit and a miss in terms of alcohol and the parts mixed. --Food-- The breakfast at the moment in not hot. But still tasty there is healthy options available as well 🙂 the gentleman in the restaurant was really helpful did not catch there name. Informed me July is when there was hot food coming back. --Other-- They always allow dogs which is good.

Fantastic hotel, seems quite new and very modern/chic with the decor. Rooms very clean and layout really good. Shower should have had a longer door/glass. Breakfast also decent, not a huge selection but decent with boiled eggs and croissants on offer. Location wise also good, near student area and about 10 mins walk from Leeds Station. Definitely would recommend.

Clean spacious rooms, comfortable bed, decent bathroom and good smart TV! Breakfast was as expected for a hotel like this (not phenomenal, but fine). Overall the cleanliness, staff friendliness and room size was better than some 4 star hotels I’ve stayed at, hence the rating.

We had a great stay and will definitely stay again. We had a King room which was a good size and the bed was massive as it was two singles pushed together. Getting to the car park was tricky but only due to the one way streets. We got our ticket stamped by the hotel when checking out, meaning the overnight (24hrs) parking only cost £5 so a great price. Continental breakfast was great and included in our stay - we chose not to upgrade to the cooked breakfast but it would only have been £5 each to do so.

Thought this would be a half decent place to rest before and after the arena. Actually could not believe the bright funky hotel we want to visit again asap. Biggest tv I have ever seen in any hotel. King bed to die for. Lovely warm staff. So different and bright. We stay all over the world in hotels and this is up there with some of the best in the price range.

Overnight stay for a nearby concert (not the Arena 😁). Easy to find on foot and well located for what we needed. Room was well appointed, comfortable, and clean. Despite nearby, short term, building work the room was well insulated and there was no road or building noise to be heard. Leeds is full of decent pubs and bars and they are all within easy reach on foot from the hotel... certainly within a few hundred yards of the front door. Late checkout at 12:00 made for a lazy morning. Free coffee and chocolate in reception was a good addition to the offering in the room. Would definitely stay again.

Very nice hotel and good location. Just a few small issues to point out to work on. Check in was slow due to a large amount of people arriving at the same time, with only one person on the main desk. A second person arrived part way through, did one check in, then disappeared for around 10 minutes before returning and calling over for more people to check in. The artwork in the bathroom could be re-thought. Having an almost life sized picture of a cricketer on the shower wall, that you first see via the mirror on the wall, was a bit jumpy. The shower head was leaking. Also I was unable to tilt the shower head, so found it difficult not to have water spraying all over the floor, as there was a fixed 1/2 shower screen and not a full one. The complimentary shampoo was too thick to be dispensed through the pump bottle. It either needs cleaning out, a different shampoo, or a different bottle. There was no extra bedding for the pull out sofa bed. This had to be requested. Once the duvet was brought up to the room, a bed sheet had to be found. The person who dropped this off did make up the sofa bed though, which was appreciated. There was a large, dark stain on the underneath of one of the sofa bed cushions. It wouldn't have been noticeable if you weren't using the sofa as a bed. Overall though, very good for the price and location.

Great location but dire service. You get better service anywhere else. Basic requests go unanswered. Very low standard of service. The needs have mattress toppers on top of old mattress and the sheets come away easily so you touch it. Breakfast was low quality but sufficient. I think we all didn't eat much but toast because a lot was inedible. For the price, wouldn't ever come back. Also a long walk from the car park for anyone with small children or mobility issues.

The decoration of the hotel is beautiful, both within the lobby and the rooms. We had a King room, the size of the room was very spacious and the shower was a good decent shower. Breakfast is also worth paying for, really nice selection of both hot and cold. The quality of the food is really good and free hot drinks in the lobby for members was a nice touch too, though the hotel itself didn't publicise that information we searched for it on the website.

I give it 4 stars because, the location, rooms, staff etc... we're all fantastic, lovely quirky hotel, perfect for a long weekend away, myself and my wife stayed here and we loved it... downside though, you pay to upgrade the included breakfast from continental to cooked breakfast, well... even though £5 is a small amount, I still wouldn't pay that for the "full english" half cooked sausages, bacon I could still here oinks every now and then, scrambled eggs only done a flying visit to the microwave, hash browns though were spot on, very minimal staff, 2 youngsters doing their best running round like headless chickens and the chefs in the background just chatting and clock watching, there was no urgency from back of house and customers were laughing the whole time we were there out of disappointment and frustration... biggest tip I could give? Go into a cafe do not have the breakfast!!

Fantastic hotel literally 3 minute walk from the First Direct Area. There's loads of parking nearby, breakfast was lovely and I always love the modern quirky style of the hotels. As always, very clean with amazing staff. I asked for a particular added surprise for my partner on arrival which was done, and I was so grateful for it. 10/10 stay! Thank you.

I found it was okay for a short stay. Located close to many university accommodation and to city center as well. Check-in was quick (may be due to online check-in done before arrival). Room is clean and not that big but okay for two with a lot of details that I appreciate. Free tea/coffee in the lobby is really good. I took take-away breakfast (they are ready at 6.30am) which is a standard one.

Great value for money, an ideal place to stay if you're going to a gig nearby. A short walk from plenty of food outlets and shops. The room was clean and comfortable. My only gripe was the lack of vegan breakfast options so if you don't eat meat, dairy or eggs you'll pretty much be limited to toast.

Smashing Hotel 5 min walk from the arena. 2 mins from parking. Free coffee machine just off reception. Nice bar. We had pizza which was really tasty. Rooms lovely and clean. Continental breakfast with plenty of choice. Will definitely stay again if we need to travel to Leeds for a gig.

Rooms were very clean and modern. Comfy beds and excellent soundproofing so no outside noise. The young lady on reception was decidedly unfriendly though.......maybe just at the end of a long day

Great location, especially for the arena. Clean, staff were friendly and the car park next door was £5 for 24 hours (if you get your ticket validated by the hotel on your way out). Will be back

The king room was relatively roomy with a contemporary bathroom. It was clean and quiet. For one night it was all we needed. The location was great and the choice of local fast food and restaurants was huge. The bar was limited but you have so much external entertainment why bother? The breakfast selection was very good and fresh and although cold/buffet European style there was something for everyone.

The Hotel is in a very good location 5 minutes walk to The Direct Arena. The Hotel rooms are spot on. The only thing they need to step up on is there was a queue at the bar at night with only one member of staff and the morning buffet breakfast was an unorganised free for all, however the overall stay was well worth £59.

  • 5/5 Lisa H. 2 years ago on Google
Central location. Good discount in the car park. Found the room too hot and window didn't open. Bathroom was tiny. So if you are a woman of a certain age whose larger its a bit of a nightmare!!

I enjoyed the look and architecture of the hotel. Especially, the artistic touch in the bedroom. Also, the staff were very friendly and assertive. I was surprised with the continental breakfast, it was good and there is always room for improvements; include egg omelette, olives just the basic. In summary, I enjoyed my stay at the hotel and would definitely recommend for bossiness travellers. The only thing that stood up for me was the fruits in the breakfast were off for some reason, they tested very strange. Overall experience, I would definitely come back.

Can't fault the hotel at all and the car park next door was handy. The hotel validates the parking too. Nice room, quiet and affordable. Very good. Will go back.

Great location and easy to get to. Check in and check was easy to do. But said there was breakfast included in the price but was cereal and fruit with some toast and pastries. Wasn’t the best breakfast and wasn’t advertised as that. The room had air conditioning but was controlled so you could lower or increase so was the best as it was too warm to sleep.

I have said this before but a Hotel is only as good as its staff. This Hotel has both, a quirky well designed building with exceptional staff. Excellent location reasonable prices and possibly the friendliest staff in town. Due to lovely computer algorithms the room rate does vary dramatically so book early if you can. Highly recommended

Booked as an emergency when our digs didn't work out. I walked in off the street and explained to the receptionist what had happened. 30 minutes before, it had been announced Her Majesty had passed away. The receptionist firstly, booked me the best room she could for myself, husband and two children then we had a lovely chat. She made me feel at ease and it was such a relief to be able to book it. She was a lovely girl and a credit to the hotel. If I could describe her I'd say she had brown eyes and very long, wavy brown hair which she wore down. This girl needs a pay rise. She was refreshing and wonderful.

The location is great, right next to the city centre. Rooms are small and bathrooms are tiny but staff are friendly. We had 2 issues however. The soap in the shower was empty so I asked for it to be topped up and it never was. Also they assured us there would be gluten free bread and cereal, twice but when we arrived for breakfast there wasn't any

Well placed for shopping or night life. Recently done rooms to a reasonable to good standard. Bed was comfortable (mattress topper on it) pillows were too solid for me. I had my reservations about going here when the wife booked it, but was presently surprised. The only thing I could fault (and I did try) was that the bathroom was a little snug especially around the toilet area. Not a huge thing I guess. I'd go back for the money.

I’m a regular at this hotel as I work in Leeds regularly . Ibis styles feels like coming home every week. Connor is a brilliant host and always goes the extra mile to make me feel welcome (management please note!) It’s unusual to find such a personal touch in big hotel chains, but these guys really do make a special effort to be friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is lovely, fresh and in abundance. Good hot showers, excellent value.
