Really cosy little hostel. The staff are friendly and the communal space downstairs is a nice place to sit and relax. The kitchen is well stocked too. There isn't a lift and the stairs are quite steep. The rooms are decorated in a rustic, homemade style which shows that some thought has gone into creating this place. The beds are comfy and the bathrooms are clean.

Absolutely love this place. Especially Eiry - that girl is so professional and every morning I was there she buttered my toast for me and dipped her toe in my tea to make sure it was just right. Will be visiting again!!!

Art Hostel really beat my imagination! It's a great place to book for a night or weekend or even for a stay cation. The desk staff we met when checked in - Thomas- was a great guy. He gave us a very nice welcome and gave us recommendations of where to go and where to eat around the place. In the morning, we met Elsa, another nice staff. We will definitely visit again.

What a complete diamond πŸ’Ž this has to be one of the best kept secrets in Leeds. A complete gold ✨️ nugget. Fantastic rooms, great service and overall a complete wow factor. πŸ‘Œ No TV but why if you are in Leeds? The only negative is be honest about the walk πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ from the Train πŸš† station about 25 minutes. However visit and stay at this spectacular grm of a place 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Only stayed the one night, but the place is lovely. Room we had very clean, comply bed and toiletries available an added touch for a hostel. Had own bathroom spotless. Breakfast provided for you to help yourself, toast, cereal and yogurts, apple and orange juice. Tea and coffee on tap. Staff very friendly. Would stay again as can't fault it for the price

Quite an interesting place, and the price is affordable. The beds are good enough, the toilets and showers are clean, so that's a plus. Each room is unique, but there's not much privacy. For a night it was alright. The staff is helpful and friendly, and the lounge is cozy and has lots of books, magazines, board games. There's a simple free breakfast as well.

Couldn't be happier with the stay I've had. Great location, unbelievably friendly staff, and fellow guests are nothing but polite and respectful. This hostel attracts the finest, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who might ask.

Wonderful place to stay in the heart of Leeds, one of the nicest hostels I've ever been to. Clean with friendly, happy staff and lively communal area. Kitchen area is a blessing, as is the excellent free WiFi. Will stay nowhere else if ever I'm in Leeds again.

Lovely staff! Cool rooms, the area is central but shabby. It is very noisy in the summer due to being on a busy road and close to a train track. They very considerately provide ear plugs, but it's good to know.

Overall everything was fine, but I would liked to have known (before booking) that the pink room has no windows which can be opened. Next to that, the room is seperated by only a thin wall from the restroom on the ground floor, making it rather susceptible to any sounds coming from the hallway. Other than that, the staff was nice, the complementary breakfast was fine, the location is great, and I have slept very sound during my stay in Leeds.

This is a little gem tucked away to the east of the city centre, but close enough to easily get to anywhere in the city. Once you find it, you quicly realise what a warm and accommodating place it is as you are greeted by very friendly staff. In addition to your shared rooms there is a nice lobby area with books, games and even a guitar where you can just relax and unwind. The shared accommodation is spacious and clean and there are large draws under the lower bunk where your things can be stored and you can lock your drawer if you so desire. In spite of the fact that the place is very close to a motorway the traffic noise level was relatively low and certainly not disturbing as I had expected. However if you need to sleep in total silence, then earplugs are recommended. You get a free breakfast here and during my stay the breakfast room was more like a family gathering as it appeared that several artiste were staying there at the time. It was a really homely feeling to observe their interaction. There are lots ofshowers and toilets available for use at this hostel and that certainly was a plus from my point of view. At the price as well as the convenience of the facilities and the location, I would definitely recommend it to a single traveller like myself. I really felt safe there.

It is very Basic, but also very clean. The shower rooms smell a bit of mold. I could not feel very comfortable as the lace is very small and has only limited space to hangout. The train make it very loud at night. The art aspect is a bit far fetched. While some rooms have some art decoration others are basic.... nothing you would not see in other hostels. Breakfast is very basic. Staff is nice, and another benefit that all the proceeds go to an art charity. But the place is a bit much for what it offers. If I was them I would make something out of the rear garden...which would add a bit more space...

I had the Pink Room - it felt very fresh and different. Great shower! Loo down the corridor but that wasn't any kind of a problem. Staff were super, the other guests were a delight, the location was superb, and I only wish I could have stayed longer.

Me and my girlfriend stayed one night in Leeds and we thought to stay at this hostel in one of their double rooms. Overall our stay was ok. On the positive side the staff is very friendly and the theme in the rooms is a nice touch. On the negative side, our room was not very clean and the overall standard definitely does not match the price they asked for. we found dusty surfaces, hairs on the floor, spider webs spread across the ceiling and damp patches on the wall. Not enough space available to put our stuff, just some hooks on behind doors. There is a weird smell as soon as you get inside the hostel and throughout the staircase. I understand it’s a hostel so you shouldn’t expect too much but I have been in much better ones.

Each room at the hostel has a special theme and is immaculately decorated. There's a wooden bunk house theme, a room with wool strung across the ceiling, another room with driftwood used as a siding in a room. It is in fact an art piece on display for people to come and stay in. A wonderful idea. More importantly, it was a lovely staff that are genuinely cheery and focused on making sure everyone is good. Or they're just good people and it comes off naturally that they care about you. I was happy to interact with Willow one evening who greeted me / I met by throwing a compliment about my rain jacket. Why thank you, I'll walk with a bit of a pip in my step now. When I first got to the hostel, I'd read about a lovely receptionist who took immaculate care of another guest. Well, it must have been this one, I thought. Eiry is always jovial and kind to you. And the smile she shows is hard not to reciprocate. She was always easy to talk to and just generally a lovely human. And then there was Roten, another one of the wonderful staff I was happy to meet at the hostel. Just all good people that like each other, take care of each other, and that is reflected upon the guests that come. Thank you.

My and a friend booked the twin room. we struggled a bit with voice controlled functions lol. We finally got the hang of it but failed to switch off the main light. The chandelier in room 1 was big and a bit too close to the single bunk/loft bed. The common kitchen was not always clean and tidy, could with someone cleaning every hour or so as its frequently used. Loved the different lighting settings and experiences for different times of the day in the room. It was very quiet over night, clean bedding and comfy beds as well. Area a bit scary to walk especially at night. The ladies at reception were absolutely lovely. Would visit again to experience the other rooms.

Incredibly engaging and warm staff, everyone was lovely from the very first introduction. Have never reviewed anywhere before but felt compelled to this once as the service was so exceptional. Thank you for a brilliant (if brief) sojourn x

Lovely staff, beautifully clean rooms, well equipped kitchen and the common area was great to relax in. Great, central spot close to town. I highly recommend the snow globe room and will hopefully be back some time!

Well I've stopped in some places in my time but this was a completely new experience..... I was genuinely scared for my life trying to find the entrance, but then once into the reception we were greeted by smack heads and alco's...... oh how impressive it was, then after the initial shock came the room. Chipwood floor covered in clear resin, with postcards of some old tarted up hag to try and give it a trendy look. A 12"tv/video ....... yes video..... combination with about 30 various home taped films for our viewing pleasure. A half used tube of toothpaste to use and a bed side lamp that gave off as much light as a single glow worm in the open air. It's really hard to find a positive about this place apart from I'm glad I only had one night here. Now I'm not a religious bloke but to my surprise we made it out alive, and yes as I ran from this place I found myself thanking the Lord for saving me. If you find yourself thinking..... it can't be that bad, give your self a very big slap round the chops and dig your hand into your pocket and go somewhere else.....

Clean, affordable, and in a great location. The rooms were really nice, each room has a unique theme and everything was kept very clean. Whoever is cleaning this place is doing a fantastic job. The volunteer staff were really nice and they were helpful. The location is perfect. A good distance from the heart of town with parking spaces out front. Keep up the amazing work!

The hostel was great but they do disclose your personal details to the other guests in the dormitory so avoid! Don’t bother asking to switch to another dorm room because they’ll just do it again no doubt. Or they just put you in a room with at least 1 of their long term residents or staff

We really enjoyed our stay. We came for one night and for the 5 of us it was only about Β£24 each. The room was lovely and the toilets and kitchen were extremely clean. Staff was lovely and made us feel welcome. Would definitely stay again!

Incredible place. Our family of 5 stayed in the β€˜Wooley Ewe’ room. Kids loved it. Sheep everywhere you look. Wool ceiling. Quirky. Great vegan breakfast. Good kitchen. Nice chill out area too. Couldn’t fault it. Β£120 for 6 beds. Wicked.

Amazing and different interior. Very lovely! Good shared kitchen space. Fun - special and different art everywhere. A bit loud during the night. Ear plugs available in the room, but still a bit too loud at times. Staff really lovely β˜ΊοΈπŸ’—

The Art Hostel is a little gem. Really loved the idea behind it. Having artists design each of the rooms and having eco credentials too. Stayed in the accessible room which smelt amazing- eucalyptus and chamomile: really relaxing. Room had private bathroom - great shower and nice touches like the toothpaste and toothbrushes. So thoughtful. Shared breakfast facilities great for making new friends. Staff really friendly and helpful. Staying again in August and hoping to book another trop with BF for a girls night away.

Myself and three friends stayed at the Art Hostel and it was brilliant. The staff were all really nice and friendly, the rooms were ideal for just crashing at the end of a long day. The beds were really comfy and toilet, shower and facilities were all clean and in great working order. Very thoughtful addition of earplugs in the room (new in packaging) as one friend is a loud snorer!

Interesting and different place to stay. We stayed in the Living in a Wonderland family room. Very airy and clean with great linen and comfy beds and en suite. Beautiful room design. Staff couldn't be more helpful, fun to talk to and had great advice on getting around Leeds and places to visit. Would definitely stay again.

Way overpriced! Payed 28Β£ for a dorm bed. Not safe - no lockers for valuables or luggage, door of the room stayed open all the time (although it does have a key code), also at night. No one from the staff payed attention. Bedspace is very little, your can't sit upright you have to crawl in. The common area is right at the entrance and also very small. For half the money all of this might have been acceptable, but not for this price. Very disappointed. The bathrooms were clean, cleanliness was overall good.

I would recommend this hostel to any young person travelling through Leeds on a budget. Staff are friendly and professional, rooms and bathrooms are spotless (and imaginative). The hostel itself is located in the heart of Leeds near both the city's main bus and train station - lending itself to easy access to most of the city.
