16hr Wilderness First Aid - Highly recommended for anyone serious about learning First Aid properly – well worth the money. Relevant & current content with seamless & professional delivery from an excellent instructor, clearly passionate about all things first aid. Nicola’s wealth of real world experience & incredible depth of knowledge combine to provide a 1st class learning experience. I booked onto my very first 16hr Wilderness First Aid course in Jan 2013 with High Peaks & have gone back to refresh every 3 years ever since – despite the near 400 mile round trip! Appreciate the background effort you clearly put in, to keep these up to date & deliver them the way you do – thanks – see you in 3 yrs!

Just returned from a great weekend in the Peak District where I completed a two day First Aid refresher course. It really was an amazing course run by Nicola for High Peak First Aid. Nicola is a very experienced outdoors activities practitioner and brought a wealth of real-time experience and value added examples to the First aid instruction. The ability and mitigating measures in place to compensate for the risk of covid infection during a fist aid course was comendable. I am really pleased to have been passed for duty for another 3 years as a trained first aider in the UK (summer) mountainous environment by High Peak First Aid. It is a high standard and instils confidence in attendees. I sincerely hope to be back in 3 years time.

I completed the 16hr wilderness first aid course. I have to say that this course was extremely disappointing, particularly given the price. It is clear that Nicola has plenty of experience in this field, but the quality of delivery was very poor. Many of the people on the course, myself included, were educators by profession, and we collectively felt that the standard of teaching fell far below what we would expect from anything other than a beginner teacher/lecturer. The course was poorly sequenced, there was huge amounts of time wasted sitting around, meaning key parts of the course were rushed, and explanations more often made things seem less clear rather than providing clarity. In 16hr of course time, we covered content that could probably have been covered in far less, in just as practical a manner. Very disappointed with this, and feel it's important to give this feedback. Having done various outdoor first aid courses before, this was by some distance the least useful and worst value for money. We would have got much more out of a decent basic first aid at work course. I'll be looking elsewhere for any future first aid training.

Always enjoy the wilderness first aid course as it is the perfect balance between indoor and outdoor sessions. Have been using High Peak First Aid since they started. Thanks again.

Nicola delivers her course in a very professional and comprehensive manner. She is super knowledgable in her field of expertise and she ensures the syllabus is meticulously covered. Having done several of these courses this was a great refresher.

Wow, what a course! I did the two-day (16hr) wilderness first aid course and it was superb. Although it was hard to pick highlights, I think was particularly amazed by how well equipped Nicola's training centre was, we didn't want for anything. Brilliant practical tests and demos, great teaching and well paced. I need to completey re-think my first aid kit now, I never realised how under prepared I was. :D !

A great course, this was my 5th course over the years with High Peak First Aid Training. Very informative and using the new Immersive class room was a great learning environment.

As ever a very well planned and delivered course. I think I've done around about 12 Wilderness or Mountain first aid courses now and this is the organisation I keep coming back to and recommending. The training facilities have been recently upgraded to include a really good indoor immersive training room, and some outdoor shelters have made the outdoor practical's less uncomfortable in the depths of winter but also introduces a more real world challenge of incident management and casualty care.

A big thank you Nicola of High Peak First Aid for a fantastic16hr Outdoor First Aid course which was brilliantly delivered. I was particularly impressed with how Nicola designed each scenario around incidents that could happen on our specified field of play and the immersive classroom technology was really effective. Highly recommend!

Nicola was very efficient and professional. It was a very interesting two days and I felt well equipped to β€˜have a go’ at helping someone with a first aid need. I will definitely be going to renew my certificate and update my knowledge with Nicola in two/three years time.

This is an excellent course, well delivered and with outstanding teaching and learning aids. The experience level and knowledge of our tutor was a huge benefit and her personable nature and common sense approach made the course a real pleasure. Like most people, I have attended a lot of first aid courses over the years and I think you will be hard pressed to find a better course provider.

Great stock of slightly more niche FA products which can be tricky to source (SAM-type splints etc.) and delivered swiftly and at very reasonable cost. If High Peak stock it I believe I can trust it, it's often hard to tell the quality of items from large faceless stockists. Will definitely consider using High Peak for training courses going forward.

I did a 2-day Wilderness First Aid course, which is more an in-depth first aid course, not necessarily remote/wilderness as the response to a lot of the questions was often "call 999 and wait for help". When asked in a specific circumstance what to do when there is no reception (i.e. very remote, as the course description suggests), the response was to "be more careful" when you're in a remote area. We focused a lot on the practical side of things, and the set up for this is great. At the start of the course, you are given a great small booklet that summarises different scenarios and what to do. Aside from this the theory was however lacking, and I found it unstructured, incomplete and often vague. Nicola joked throughout that she's tired of answering questions, to which another participant rightly responded that she should explain things better in the first place. Throughout the course, there's a strong focus on different products (including differences between brands and costs), which compromised time spent on theory and understanding signs and symptoms. It also goes on the premise that you are to have a rather large (and costly) first aid kit with you at all times. Nicola is passionate and knowledgeable and has been in the field for a long time. I learnt a lot during the course but was frequently disappointed.
