Lovely place to visit. Everyone in the shop and cafe friendly and the grounds are beautiful. Need to come back in the summer when the roses are flowering. It was lovely to see croquet being played on the lawns today. Finally managed to see inside the house. Lovely day.

Visited the hall and gardens for the first time on a beautiful sunny day which definitely made the whole experience much more enjoyable. I mainly went to see the gardens and they are really worth a visit, beautifully maintained in some areas but a work in progress in others. You could quite easily kill a few hours strolling round them. I took my mum who uses a stroller and some of the areas are inaccessible to people with mobility problems which is a shame. We called to the cafe for some lunch, there was ample seating areas inside and out, although the cafe itself was way too small you didn't have much chance to look at what you wanted to eat and drink before you had to be served. There was only one till and that was acting up and causing a queue to build. I thought it was a little pricey too, a basic cheese and tomato sandwich, a bun and some pop was nearly £9. You can however take your own food and sit in the grounds. The house was only open downstairs at the time we went in and frankly I wasn't impressed, it was quite dark and dreary looking inside so that's why I took a star off. The toilets were clean and modern with easily accessible mobility toilets. The staff we met were all lovely, very friendly and helpful. I paid just over £12 to get in which I think is a bit overpriced maybe £8 would be more suited. That being said I would probably go back again for another look round maybe in the springtime to see the tulip displays.

Grand building and majestic gardens. A history of lesson on how these places were built and what costs were involved. I appreciate the acknowledgement of the transatlantic slave trade in contributing to the wealth of Peter Thellusson who bought the estate in 1791. The trees are impressive and you can enjoy crisp woodland walks. It is worth visiting it, especially if you have an English heritage membership . The only downside is the public transport links. You have to walk from the nearest bus stop which is at least 40 min walk on a road with no public footpath.

Well worth a visit! The gardens have been beautifully restored and look fantastic. The fountain garden is full of big bold planting and is stunning. The hedges on the boundaries are beautifully shaped, someone is clearly great at topiary! My favourite was the sunken garden area near the pet cemetery, it's on various levels and is a mixture of natural stone and beautiful plants. The outside of the house has been restored and looks magnificent, but the inside has been conserved. Walking through the rooms, you can see the full story of the house and the family that owned it. It's a mixture of things from when the house was first built right up to when the owners died, a true living history. So interesting. There's also a good cafe with plenty of seating but the cafe itself is small and has few staff so the queue gets long. The only negative is getting there. If you're using public transport, the nearest bus stop is in Marr, and then you walk for 1 mile down a country lane with narrow verges.

The gardens are very well maintained and a pleasant walk round, the house was only downstairs on my visit due to low volunteer numbers unfortunately. The children's play area is for younger children about 8 and under, the church was inaccessible but still had a lovely view. Toilets, gift shop, and café on site. Overall short bit sweet place to visit.

Immaculate gardens. Well worth a visit just for those. The house is quite interesting although a fair section was not open for viewing. Staff were helpful and pretty well informed. Pleased that they offer you a choice of strawberry, raspberry or blackcurrant jam (instead of just the ubiquitous strawberry) to accompany the scones! Food and hot drinks still served on the pandemic induced throw away paper/card rather than the more desirable ceramic materials. I hope this changes before long. A good day out all in all.

First time visit and it was amazing! Spent several hours here. Loved their immaculate gardens, but also the house itself. The English Heritage volunteers were so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, making the tour of the house so much more enjoyable. I spent over 3 hours here, but could have easily stayed longer.

Loved this place as there's so much to see, I personally think you need to visit more than once to take in all they have done to make it a informative visit. There's very helpful staff to give out information about all aspects of the hall and after you've finished in the house there's quite a beautiful garden to walk around to finish off the day.

Went there during an amber warning so it was very warm but there was ice cream and cool drinks available on the grounds and plenty if shaded areas with picnic benches to sit at. The house (both outside and inside) and the gardens were beautiful, would defiantly recommend.

Wonderful place, so much to see and explore. There's lots of history about this place that is interesting. The gardens are beautiful and colourful. There is also a tea room and a gift shop but, I didn't think the entry for this place would cost so much. I would still recommend it, it is a great place.

A more up to date property than some we have visited recently it still provided much of interest, sculpture, art, etc. It was good to see a ramp at the entrance to the property & everyone gained access the same way. There are beautiful gardens outside (where else would they be?) There were plenty of flowers still in bloom & which, to me, were quite unusual. In my opinion you need to set aside at least half a day. There is a cafe with plenty of seating which could be useful for a rest & re charge.

Lovely original house preserved rather than restored...gardens are really lovely all the planting is a credit to the Brodsworth team. Clean toilets, cafè, lovely food nice choice and staff a delight. Easy parking and a little buggy provided for folks in need of a little help up to the house. I felt the staff enjoyed working there. We enjoyed our day.❤️

Just stunning. House is incredible; it's like stepping back in time. The contrast of the grandeur of the main hall downstairs and the cosiness of the most recently inhabited bedrooms make it very special. Fernery is wonderful.

This is an English Heritage site so it worth noting that entry prices can be high, it is worth becoming a member! Also, the hall closes at 15:00. I only popped in to see the garden as I had gone somewhere else during the day, another advantage of being a member. The garden was absolutely gorgeous, a lovely walk and would be a nice place to visit for the day. I shall return to see it all again and the hall next time.

Wow so beautiful! The garden is absolutely beautiful such a lovely walk especially on a beautiful day like today. The house has so much history really interesting to look around, there are guides everywhere who will tell you something interesting. Luckily we had membership so was free to enter and free to park. We will return again with children can't wait!

This EH property is well worth a visit. I went on a Sunday and although busy , there was more than enough time and room to see everything. The house was interesting and volunteers knowledgeable, the gardens were beautiful (had a brass band playing while I was there too) . There is a smallish cafe serving the usual fair of jacket potato's , patries and cakes. Highly recommended.

Brodsworth Hall and gardens is a lovely place to visit. The hall is your usual Victorian stately home that is untouched inside but the gardens are something different. They have to be the best ones that I have visited. So unique. Around every corner is something different. They are built in an only quarry so are on different levels and are really quiet amazing. It has a lovely old pet cemetery. Sounds macabre but I thought it was rather moving that they loved their pets so much. Can't what to go back again later on in the year to see what they look like in a different season.

We didn’t arrive early enough to tour the house but the grounds were amazing! A great place to explore with the whole family. There’s a cafe, ice cream truck, playground and gift shop in site. You can easily spend 1-2 hours exploring and not see the same thing twice. Big free parking lot as well, can’t wait to see the gardens in spring!

Been before some time ago and was really surprised at the improvements, particularly to the gardens - well worth a visit. Cheaper to book on line than pay on the day. Only slight downside is that the cafe is small and has limited choice. My wife and I envied those who had thought to take a picnic, because the weather was beautiful on the day.

Brodsworth Hall & Gardens Stunning Hall & Gardens. Transport yourself back to Victorian England. The house is still unchanged from the last family that owned & lived there. Even the smells of each room are unique. From the dinning room to the main kitchen. The gardens are the best kept gardens I’ve ever seen! Credit to the people that work there daily. Must see place and worth a road trip. Summer, spring or fall it’s a stunning place to visit

The Halloween trail and dress up was thoroughly enjoyed by my son. He even requested I get dressed up too which was a lot of fun! There is so much to see that even being there the whole day, we only covered about half of the grounds. A must see for those who love open gardens and old buildings!

Brodsworth Hall and Gardens is a victorian Manor house set in 10 acres of grounds. The house has been beautifully preserved and has been kept as it was when it was vacated showing how they lived in those times. The gardens has been restored to their former glory and there are many walks throughout the grounds. There is also a lovely tea room in the house. Thoroughly worth a visit.

Lovely lovely place, a Yorkshire and English Heritage gem. The gardens are stunning so colourful. All path ways in good order and well signed. And we visited on a Sunday when they had a brass band playing in the garden area. Well done English heritage.

An excellent English Heritage property. The gardens are fabulous with hidden gems throughout. The house has a fascinating history with really enthusiastic guides dotted around to bring the visit to life.

Steeped in history, this hall is beautiful on the inside and out. What English Heritage have done with this hall is fantastic. Rather than restore it and create "artificial history", they've preserved the estate as to how it was many years ago. Its obvious that the Brodsworth Hall is full of history and an illustrious past, but it also doesn't hide the problems huge estates like this can present to owners and how without true maintenance, these heroic houses can fall foul to nature in areas that aren't as cared for. The gardens on the other hand have been lovingly maintained and make for a fantastic walk around. The tour guides in the house are extremely knowledgeable and helped paint a true picture of what life was like in the past and how things changed over time. A truly eye opening experience and a great day out.

One of the most beautiful houses and gardens that we’ve visited in this part of the country. The English Heritage staff and volunteers are so knowledgable and friendly. The gardens are beautifully kept. The house is just lovely. We will definitely be back for the falconry day in a few weeks.

We love it here, not only for a walk around the gardens or a look round the hall, but because they have themed days and family adventures to experience and take part in. There are audio posts to listen to, various (changing) boards throughout the year with information about the hall’s history and a lively museum and tea rooms with a coffee stand outside. There’s a play area for the children half way round and outdoor toilets too. The car park is right next to the entrance and is large enough to accommodate a large number of cars. We went it their Halloween Wizards of Once themed trail this year, out seven year old really enjoyed himself. The Christmas lights are extraordinary, truly beautiful and worth a visit.

A beautiful day for a garden walk around. The gardeners were doing their winter work and it was still gorgeous! Lots to see, learn and appreciate! Inside was dressed for Father Christmas and prepped for winter, so no tours are allowed.

Visited in December so only the Servants wing was open but still very interesting... The gardens here are beautiful and on their own well worth a visit

  • 4/5 Sarah C. 2 years ago on Google
Absolutely stunning gardens which are very well maintained. The children's play area is an added bonus too. We spent 3 and a half hours wandering around with a couple of stops for a picnic and a cuppa and that was enough time to cover the gardens. There's plenty of seating areas dotted around for picnics or just to sit and take in the view of the beautiful house and gardens. We will definitely be back for future visits

I would give 10 Stars for the staff who were very kind and friendly. Having one in almost every room helped to have a chat and the amazing human interaction with those volunteers is definitely worth paying for! The house is well preserved and the history is explained by the volunteers in the best possible way. The gardens are amazing and we went to see the king’s coronation which was arranged along with some shops to make it a perfect first picnic of the summer.

We had a really enjoyable afternoon exploring what Brodsworth Hall had to show us , the gardens are fantastic, they looked even better in the brilliant sunshine. There also happened to be a classic car rally visiting so its worthwhile checking what events are taking place. The volunteers in the house were knowledge and helpful regarding the history surrounding the house .

Amazing day here. We planned for the indoors for the weather, but we're lucky enough to get the best of the weather to walk the gardens and appreciate the grounds. The interior of the house is so interesting, along with the family history. It's a really great property that's got everything you need. The tea rooms were great, friendly staff with good choices for snacks and meals.

  • 5/5 Andrew T. 1 year ago on Google
Lovely stately home beautifully looked after by English Heritage. Our walk around the interior of the hall was made that much more interesting by the well informed guide who was clearly passionate about the Hall and very happy to answer questions. The gardens are lovely to walk around too.

  • 5/5 Lorraine M. 11 months ago on Google
An amazing property, fully furnished which makes it more interesting . Also it was staffed by the most friendly, approachable and knowledgeable volunteers who could really bring the place to life telling stories of the house and occupants. The gardens were just something else, wow. Amazing and seemed to go on and on with interesting walks and high praise to the gardeners for their work keeping everywhere beautiful. Return visit essential.

Lovely and well looked after place. We visited with the kids during half term and they had Halloween themed actors telling tales of witches - kids loved it. Take pack up, the prices for food and drinks are extortionate 👍 We would definitely come back though.

  • 5/5 Mazhar A. 1 year ago on Google
A beautiful place to visit. The House is beautiful inside and retains all the period features…excellent English architecture and furniture. The gardens are set in wonderful landscaped areas. All in all an excellent place for a day out.

  • 5/5 Keith A. 2 years ago on Google
Went for a day out and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The staff were knowledgeable about the house and grounds, and there's lots to explore in the gardens. A nice little play area for the children too. We took a picnic and glad we did as the queue for the cafe was long at lunchtime, but the food looked really nice, and there's a coffee hut to save you queuing for the cafe if all you want is drink. We pay £10 a month as English Heritage members which makes days out like this great value for money.

We visited for the first time today and we will be going back. The house is wonderful with lots to see, some of the rooms were shut due to low volunteers but what we did see was beautiful. The gardens are just as pretty and well kept. There is a cafe serving lovely food along with a gift shop and second hand book shop. The staff and guides were all really friendly and able to pass so much information. If you haven't been you must..

We visited Brodsworth Hall and Gardens, on Monday for the first time. The Gardens are magnificent, and so well kept. I loved the house, but was disappointed that the upstairs was closed off, due to the lack of volunteers, the volunteers I met are very knowledgeable and do a fantastic job, well done.

  • 5/5 Jocelyn T. 2 years ago on Google
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Hall and Gardens. It is an easy stroll from the car park to the house and once inside the volunteer guides are helpful and knowledgeable. The interior is quite dark because of the fabric protecting blinds but the house has a homely, while at the same time, impressive feel. The award winning gardens are a delight to stroll through being well maintained and interesting in design. Service in the cafe is quick and the staff friendly. Our cream tea was delicious. A very heavy reliance on disposable cups, plates and cutlery tho left me feeling a little guilty at the amount of waste we generated.

Stunning and very interesting house and gardens. Staff in each room very knowledgeable about the history of the house. Well worth the visit.

Wow! A fantastic mansion with original Victorian interiors, lost in time. Surrounded by wonderful gardens and follies. The gardening team do an amazing job! Featured many times on the telly.

  • 5/5 Eamonn H. 1 year ago on Google
Run by English Heritage so if not a member then admittance charge. Nice House lots of information boards, guides in each room to answer questions. Items on display from circa 1800 through to 1960,'s, Quite extensive well kept gardens, good pathways, steps in places and wheelchair access to nearly all places, cafe on site also. Good place to visit but allow time to peruse all of it.

Beautiful gardens. The house interior is gorgeous. It's the kind of house anyone could live in. Great day out. Highly recommended.
