Been to a couple of shows here. A little scruffy but it definitely adds to the character of the theatre. Very polite staff, fairly priced bar with a decent selection of hot and cold snacks. There is 1 toilet on the lower stalls area which didn’t smell very nice and was very busy.Parking is a bit of an issue, a car park is about a couple of minutes walk away but the meter only takes cash so make sure you have a pocket full of change.

The musical, Come what may. Brilliantly funny, brilliant dancing and choreography, fantastic songs and vocals. Would recommend going and seeing this show without hesitation.

Not been to Panto for a long time but after seeing this performance on Christmas Eve will definitely return again. We all had a great time, especially our daughter. Beauty and the Beast was very well made, with great performances from the entire cast - the production managed to squeeze in one or two musical numbers 'Les Miserables', which were excellent. The funniest parts of the show were improvised, with voluntary (and involuntary) participation from the crowd. I've seen shows on Broadway and this was so much better!

It's a nice theatre with a lot of history and a good view from the seats. Sadly, there is no lift to higher levels so a little difficult to climb the stairs for our party with a walking stick, just something to bear in mind for future bookings.

I went to watch Westside Story by Wakefield youth theatre group. I have never seen so many talented youngsters. The young man playing Tony was out of this world, what an amazing voice. I hope he continues in theatre.

Lovely theatre and staff. One of the best theatres I have been to. Affordable tickets plenty of restaurants and pubs local to theatre and handy for train station. Enjoy a good night out. The charity does amazing work here.

Good venue and the sound for music is great! The seats on the floor are small, and do not provide much space. Other than that, lovely place, respectful staff and they were helpful as always

It's a lovely cosy theatre where you can see everything going on on stage. There's a bar where you can pre order drinks for the half time break in performance and all in all it is a lovely place to enjoy theatrical performances

Went to see a comfortable showing of sleeping beauty. The cast were amazing, the seats were comfortable the evening was just pure bliss. My only issue was, it was supposed to be a comfortable showing and I felt more could have been done to help those with additional needs. Not just point parents to the nearest safe room for there child to re-regulate.

We went to see the panto, sleeping beauty. Whilst the theatre is not as big as some of the main ones, our family had a brilliant time. The theatre decor is traditional and ornate, and all seats are close to the stage giving it a great atmosphere. All the performers did a fantastic job. Could not pick fault. Hugely entertaining. We will most definitely be returning year on year.

Really friendly service at the bars, both downstairs & upstairs. Had a great view of the dance show from the stalls, and thoroughly enjoyed the show. Only downfall: at the interval, all the smokers rush out to just outside the doors, and the theatre fills up with the stench of smoke! It absolutely stunk. But that's not the theatres fault. Just a shame it happens 😷

Saw Les Miserables. Absolutely fantastic. But was upstairs and the safety of users is not very good. Nothing to hold onto when walking along the rows to get to seat.

Fabulous show especially the Les Miserables section at the end. We felt entertained and again came out buzzing. The theatre is lovely but we were in the upper circle on the front row and seats were very uncomfortable. I left it late to book better seats. At the interval I asked if we could move and were initially given alternative seats further back with more leg room which we kindly accepted. I was then approached by a staff member and she offered to reseat us in the dress circle where the seats were more comfy. The staff bent over backwards for us and I would like to say a huge thank you for that. Would have scored a five but think the seats in the upper circle need updating. Apart from that, we came away really happy and will be looking in the brochure for our next show!!

Love this theatre, I have been coming here for over 30 years. It is small and intimate and well kept, the staff are friendly and most of them are volunteers. This week we went to see Sunny Side Up a comedy, brilliant.

Absolutely great venue. The inside feels very original and it has a modern cafe to the side as well as a dress circle bar. This has a really good broad range of acts and plays including comedy, variety, musicals, plays and tribute acts. The staff are really helpful and the theatre does a meal break with the Dolce Vita restaurant nearby. There is plenty of parking not too far away (5 mins walk) at very cheap / low prices.

Set in Wakefield, this theatre provides entertainment for the whole family. I particularly enjoy the musicals, although there is a huge variety of other types of theatre to choose from. Very reasonably priced for the area and easily accessible. A definite for anybody looking for a positive experience.

Nice theatre. Saw a good play. Ice cream is massively overpriced.

Lovely little theatre in the centre of Wakefield. Lots of local car parks making life easy to get here, it's also a stone's throw from the train station and local bus routes. The show we watched was good, my only complaint is that the seats were quite small for me, but I did put weight on over lockdown so I can't fault the theatre for not accommodating my new enlarged size πŸ˜…

Went to see little fix. A very entertaining show. Easy access to seating, scanned codes at entry, straight forward and efficient. Only complaint was it was difficult to see seating numbers, looked like some were missing. Would be good if staff clearly showed you your seats. Would definitely go again though.

Fantastic theatre full of history. As a friend of the theatre I frequent often and the shows are always good quality. I highly recommend you look through their brochure and if there’s a show on you fancy book away. They have a wide range to cater for whatever you are interested in.

We are so lucky to have such a gem on our doorstep. The team are incredibly professional and happy to help. The new bar and studio is inspirational and adds a happy slice of modernity to the comforting heritage of the original theatre. My daughter is a member of the weekend Performance Academy and it is so well run. Thank you Theatre Royal.
