Went here for the first time yesterday. My daughter heard about it on Facebook. At first glance, the main shop front seemed a lot smaller than we imagined with not many fish...... However, there is a much bigger section to the side of it that has loads of different varieties of tropical, freshwater and saltwater fish. Also a good amount of pond products, plants and accessories. The staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We will definitely be returning here when needed.

Have a problem with my pond fish dying. Today I visited Wharf Aquatics for advice. The staff were brilliant and very knowledgeable. They tested the water and then a fish, found the problem and a treatment. All this attention on a common goldfish which is fantastic . The member of staff took the time to show me the problem and explain the treatment. All this came free of charge, the only thing I was charged for was the bottle to treat the fish. Thank you wharf Aquatics.... If I could award you more stars ...I would..

If I could give 0 stars I would. My partner is unable to wear a face covering due to a hidden disability. And she has a lanyard stating this. But when we visited last month they let us in!!!! But all of a sudden they don’t allow it and she was refused entry!!!! They offered to get what she wanted and bring it out to her but we wanted fish as well as other things so we wanted to hand pick them ourselves. Not to mention they can’t refuse entry according to the government website and they can’t discriminate either. Will never go back again!!

My 1st visit and well worth the trip too. Went with the idea of buying quite a few fish for our new set-up but after a chat with a staff member and listening to his advice to stock up gradually we came home with 6 small tetras. No hard sell from these guys, just good advice. I'll be returning in a couple of weeks for some more advice and more fish recommendations....can't wait👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻

Been visiting here for years. As always top service and helpful friendly staff, even during busy times. 👍 picked up a lovely male adult dovii on Sunday. Was served by Tom who was really helpful and knowledgeable. Prices aren't cheap, but you pay for what you get at wharf. Well worth the money for quality fish. Keep up the good work!

Absolutely so glad myself and my Mrs went today, we had the pleasure of meeting snowy who works there and wow what knowledge and advise he has given us is priceless, just want to say a massive thank you for the help with the testing etc and that you will have our custom for life, made us feel very welcome and part of the marine family. And the refractometer works a treat snowy thanks again and will see you all very soon, if carlsberg did fish shops they would own wharf Aquatics :)

If you like all things fishy ,a great place ,I'm kind of glad it's so far away as it would be to tempting "ooh just one more fish"..

Looks like a small shop but inside is actually big and full of interesting, cute, and beautiful fish (marine, local and big huge fish) and live coral reefs and everything you need to build a aquarium at home... I'm not sure if the price is reasonable as I'm just a visitor, but it's so interesting that made me think of having some cute fish and coral reefs myself haha

Visited this establishment because of good reports from other fish enthusiasts. Was not disappointed. Great selection of aquatic goods and an amazing fish house - whatever type of aquarium you are interested in, this place has so much to choose from. Plus, the staff really know what they’re talking about. They are not just trying to make a sale - they genuinely want the best outcome for fish and owner.

A wide range of fish of Tropical, cold water and marine. I purchased 3 Clown loaches to go with my others in my 785 litre tank and 3 of them died by the morning for no reason. I called the store for advice and to try and come to some kind of resolution. They advised me to bring in 2 water samples, 1 of tank water and 1 of general tap water to test. As expected the water was spot on and no issues. The gentleman who dealt with me was extremely helpful and polite as I was not a happy man and feeling very distressed about this situation I had found myself in - Wharf Aquatics were more than happy to replace the Clown loaches I had lost for free. Very good customer service. 5 stars for you. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

What an absolute treat it was to visit on Wednesday 8/3/23. For us it was an 11 hour round road trip from a different country. And it was worth every minute. A phenomenally cool selection of fish, I'd wager to cater for every keeper going. All the dry goods, tanks and scaper stuff you would ever need. Marine, tropical and a huge cold water department. Staff clearly working hard away, and yet extremely warm, friendly and attentive to our needs. Browsing that many tanks takes a while (I had snacks with me) and with such a diverse stock list? We had lots of questions. Tom (cheers again!) picked me out a cracking pair of Bankanensis and my pal came away with a stunning wee light base Scobina. Tanks are all independent, clearly labeled with some stats when appropriate, which is great. Oh I like that 4" something... I wonder.... Gets to 24". Cool. Not for me then. It's such a helpful little detail. Needs soft acidic water. Tropical. When most of their species is temperate. It's Brilliant. You guys keep doing you, and I'll always look forward to a Wharf trip.

Been planning a fully planted aquarium for a while now. Been to a few local shops/chains but have been really put off by the staff who have either been dismissive or unhelpful. Took a punt and drove the 25 mins to visit Wharf and my experience couldn’t be more different, had a great chat with a lovely guy who gave lots of options and ideas and helped me to choose a substrate system and plants. So pleased with my purchases and will be back to fill my tank with fish. Thanks again.

Great shop. Massive variety, I wasn’t expecting the amount of shrimp they had. I didn’t even go there for shrimp but I came back with some! Huge amount of wood. Good choice of rocks although the dragon stone wasn’t the shapes I was after, not exactly their fault though 😬. If you’re traveling from the north like I was be careful on the roads heading there, never seen so many speed cameras in all my life, I know the whole don’t speed and you won’t get caught but 1mph over is points now so be careful! Well worth the 2 hour journey!

Wow this is like Aladdin’s cave, I went to see Eddy in the marine department as I’m looking for a 3-4ft tank for my kitchen. Really helpful and very honest with the advice. Definitely worth taking the drive up to see rather than the more overpriced “local” bigger centres. Thank you.

#Fantastic. I can't fault these guys. Patient, knowledgeable, helpful, and the price is bang on - what more could we ask for? 😍 Had all the supplies I needed plus a healthy and varied stock of #fish. I went in for #reptile equipment and always love to see the #aquarium section ready for planning a future setup. I'll be back, and time again 😊

This is heaven for anyone who keeps any sort of fish cold water, tropical, marine dry section was unbelievable. They had fish I have never seen in my life. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and nothing is too much effort for them. I can't understand why it's took so long to find my kind of heaven. I'm off back tomorrow to collect a fish that's been reserved for me. Nothing will surprise now since I have been here. Highly recommended worth the drive .

A fantastic place with great knowledge, experience and variety. marine corals and fish are plentiful and the tropical section is absolutely fantastic, not to mention the incredible choice of nano fish and inverts. I do find that sometimes information given by some staff can be inaccurate, however a 5* is still greatly deserved as anybody in a shop about to purchase fish should be doing their research before they even make the journey.

Warning for all looking to order custom made tanks I ordered tank made to order from Wharf Aquatics Ltd tank was delivered with half of the specifications missing and quality of finish that I would not expect from any company and has been told that it’s premium craftsmanship pictures attached company despite requesting a full refund company is saying that tank is “fit for purpose “ Disgraceful….

What a great bunch of people who run the shop. Also really helped with professional advice too for my son who bought a fish tank today. Will be going back to them as they also have a massive range of fish some very rare ones too.

  • 5/5 Ben H. 1 year ago on Google
One thing I struggle with a lot with shops is that you cannot tell whether the fish are wild caught or not, this place has everything labelled and where they have come from. I only like to buy captive bread fish and their system helped me do so. They also have a massive range of fish, more than Maidenhead. I was finally able to get some Green Laser Corys and I was so happy. Some things might be more pricey then smaller stores but they make up for it with outstanding service, amazing stock and just a large range of fish.

  • 5/5 Patrick n. 3 years ago on Google
I was like a one eyed cat in a fish shop. I got annoyed though. Simply because there were that many species to choose from, I couldn't make my mind up. Loved my choice, but wish I bought some of those and those and those and those and those. Oh and some of those as well. The guys that work there are sound. 16 miles away from me, but I care not a jot. That's where I'll get all my stuff from in future. Great choice of plants, rocks, artificial plants and wood features too. Go there, it's simply better than anywhere else.

  • 5/5 Thomas W. 1 year ago on Google

They are always on hand to help you and give you top advice on whatever you’re looking for or need help with. • 1/5 michael h. 3 years ago on Google
Apparently goldfish can't go in a tank any less than 100ltrs even though you can buy goldfish tanks that are much smaller than this! And a fact that its around 10 ltrs of water per fish so you can have 3 small fish in a 30 tank! Found the staff rude at the best after being told they wouldn't sell me half a dozen small goldfish for two tanks, yet they can stuff a hundred of them in a tank there!!! Think they know it all, seems to me rather over educated to the point of being obnoxious, felt like they didn't even want any custom! Won't be going back.

Called today for some fish food, and queued in the livestock queue as it was open for business, so thought I'd browse the fish, when an employee came out and told everyone we were in tier 4 and it was essentials only, which is fine obviously, but why open the livestock area if you don't want customers in there, the employee seemed really disgruntled there was customers queuing up???

Whatever you need, they have it. Even if it is advise you are after. The staff are very knowledgable. They could easily sell you all the fish but they dont. I highly recommend this place, it is just brilliant!

Fantastic service, very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Always at the end of the phone if you ever need any advice and they aren't after the money. They don't force products on you if you don't need it, they will suggest free options and will not give allow you to take fish if they feel your tank isn't right size or water not quite right or if you have fish that will clash. Alot of choice of fish.
